Not the prettiest or cleanest beach, but honestly a good choice for if you're just planning to walk/bike/roller skate along the water as they have a designated path. It's also perfect if you're trying to avoid a crowd. Would highly recommend avoiding the bathrooms if you can though. They're quite nasty. read more

It was a beautiful long stretch of beach and I found a lot of seashells! The sand is white and very fine. It was the perfect weather. I'll go back often! There's a restroom, as well. read more

This beach doesn't get the credit it deserves - yes it's not not south OC, or Malibu or even Santa Monica, but what you'll find here is the peoples beach! It's full of locals and neighborhood Cory citizens who come here to bike, walk, work out, take their dogs out, and it's awesome. The fitness path, and stairs up to ocean ave are not that far situated from the water, especially if you park in the Junipero Beach lot. There also small business vendors that sell snacks, fruit, and ice cream. My favorite thing is when you park in the lot below, you're about 50-75 feet from the water. Parking stations available with printed tickets for the dash and mobile pay available as well. I paid $1.50 for an hour and a half on a Saturday. read more

This beach is incredible. The fact that it has many miles of bike and walking paths right along the beach make it one of my favorite beaches to visit. It's not that busy or crowded either, so you can enjoy the beach without many interruptions. I give it 4/5 only because the public restrooms are pretty gross. Summer time in the LBC..... If you haven't been to Long Beach it's like where have you been lately. It's completely change in so many ways. Downtown has had a major upgrade renovation. There's the pike, with all it's shops. The famous aquarium as well as shoreline village. Waterfront restaurant and shops that's perfect for a day out and with its picturesque view. The famous Queen Mary around the corner down shoreline village. Then there's stretch of beach where we spent the afternoon walking along. The bike path stretch for miles. There's both the bike and pedestrians path. You can start from the Long Beach pier and walk along all the way past shoreline and loop back around the opposite side across the ocean from the Queen Mary. Beach front then the marina with its boat all lone up. It loops back. You could even continue the opposite direction which will take you to Belmont shores. Famous for its Main Street, 2nd street. There you have tons of shopping, bars, restaurants and so on. Plenty to choose from. With Covid, certain places maybe closed. From there you can continue to the Naples. The bay is nice for just laying out and enjoying the water. Naples has canals that is beautiful for kayaking through or small boating. Beautiful waterfront homes lined along the water. These spots are just miles from each other and the main strip. Long Beach has so much to offer. Perfect for a day out or a weekend away. Many places to see and enjoy. read more

It's hard to find parking here on a nice day in LB beach , especially today since there are other events in the area . The beach area closest to the parking lot are crowded and looks trashy and dirty .. For more space between other groups and cleaner surroundings. Walk further out to the area in front of the condos/ apartments.. the sand in that section looks cleaner and less crowded . The beachfront in the city of Long Beach has always been one of three beaches in LA county that I've gone to for a sand run. This beach runs parallel to Ocean Blvd, and is a short flight of stairs down. The sand stretches from Shoreline to Belmont Pier, and has a boardwalk for joggers and bikers alike. The ambient here is very relaxed. You get a mix of people here, but I've never encountered anything bad. Parking is never an issue, it is easily found along Ocean Blvd, or on the pay lot on the eastern side of the beach. The surrounding area is pretty nice. Belmont Shore has quite a few options when it comes to dining, coffee, and bars. Second Avenue sits a few blocks north of here, and downtown LB sits a short way northwest. I'll be back here when I come back to LA for summer break. Until then, enjoy it for me. read more

Ample parking behind the park for free but it'll require you to walk a bit to get to the beach. The water and sand could definitely be a lot better. It's pretty trashy right now and I wouldn't recommend chilling in the water. It was a nice walk around here before our flight out but for a whole day beach excursion, there are much better options near Santa Monica or Malibu. read more

If you're using the boardwalk, then 4 stars... be sure to dodge the hobos. But the beach is a disaster. As a Long Beach native, I was disgusted at the sight of the beach today. I could not walk the sand without stepping on or over trash. I had to leave because I was afraid to let my toddler walk the sand once I started seeing broken glass also. This beach was ok. There was a lot of small broken trash in the sand so every time you walk, you'll step on something or pokes you. There were blue trash cans around too. The water wasn't clear. It was pretty dirty in my opinion, but people were in it swimming and what not. My son loved jumping when small waves came at him. Good thing there was a shower/water station to rinse off. There was a life guard on duty and he was watching and being cautious. I even seen him sprang into action when a kid looked like he was drowning. But the kid was messing around cause he was tall enough just to stand up and the water was at his waist. read more

This city is always on the news due to the crime that runs rampant in different neighborhoods. Despite the problems I like coming here and enjoying the many shops, restaurants, views, vibe, and the friendly people that hang out here. The city should step up and add restrooms near the beaches or we will continue to smell urine around the parking lots and corners of buildings. read more

I have heard lots of good things about Long Beach and so I have decided to visit this place just before taking a cruise back home. So first off, the name really says it all. The beach is very Long. I stayed at Hyatt Regency and from my hotel room, I can see the stretch of the beach. The sand was amazingly beautiful. I was here end of April and the weather isn't too cold nor too hot. The beach isn't super busy at all. There is a volleyball court on one end of the beach. Great for volleyball fans. There is the usual nice relaxing restaurants or seafood fan restaurants like Bubba Gump etc on the other end of the beach. If you are talking about the City as a whole, than I have to say the city is beautiful. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you to or close to the beach from downtown. Definitely a place you have to come visit. Its beautiful here. Most locals here have a tan. yes a nice dark tan. read more

Oh Long Beach, with awesome restaurants, hotels, and a beach nearby, how can anyone hate you? Well it's a "Hate to Love and Love to Hate" kind of place. There's bums and minimal lights on the busy streets so be aware of your surroundings at night. I've been here twice in the past two years and my experiences here (from the hotel to the convention center, Pikes outlet, and the dock) was great. But oh, Long Beach, you're also a place that witnessed my unexpected heart break. I probably won't be back in a long while but thank you for hosting such a great event. read more

I'm referring specifically to the beach on Junipero. This was my family's first time to this beach. All I have to say is make sure you park out on the street and walk down to the beach. We made the mistake of driving into the parking lot at sunset on a Saturday when most people were leaving. We didn't even get out of our car because you could see that it was traffic getting through. It took 2 hours in gridlock to get out. It was horrible especially after initially driving into what appeared to be a nice, family friendly beach area. read more

As far as I can tell from the description "beaches", this page is about the actual beach in Long Beach, not the city itself. Long Beach itself is fantastic. Gorgeous city, awesome people, great vibe. Having said that, do NOT go to this beach for any reason except to run or bike on the paved path. It's tempting, I know, to just head down and lay out for a bit, or maybe do some early morning beach yoga. Resist!! I found out the hard way that since there is no beach combing, beach fleas are abundant here. The bites won't show up for a few days so you might not even realize where they came from. The beach was the only thing I did differently prior to these bites and after some extensive googling, I realize it would have been well worth my time to just drive to Huntington, or even Seal Beach. Thankfully they don't come home with you, but you don't want this experience. Side note: I mentioned the sand, stay out of the water, too. It's disgusting. If you ever rent a boat by shoreline village and go around inside the breakwall, you'll see some almost oily looking brown stuff floating on the water. That's fecal matter. Because the cruise ships have to dump before they dock, and the breakwall makes the natural cleansing of a beach (dirty water waves out, clean water waves in) very difficult. Plus after it rains, all the trash and refuse of LA county drains into, you guessed it, Long Beach! Stay. Away. From. This. Beach. read more

Personally, Long Beach is probably one of my least favorite beaches because the water is pretty dirty and there isn't as much attractions around when comparing it to Venice and Santa Monica. I overall enjoy living downtown. There are quite a few bums, and a lot of ghetto people all over. outside of dt the place definitely gets more ghetto and seemingly more dangerous. Even as a guy I don't always feel completely comfortable walking around the non-downtown area at night. But I can genuinely see the city trying to keep it's downtown area nice. There's a lot of city workers constantly cleaning the downtown streets. The marina is a beautiful place to walk with a lot of nearby restaurants and bars and entertainment venues that would make for a fun night out. IMO the marina is by far the nicest and best part of LB. south/east some and 2nd street area by the beach is much much less ghetto. That's a nice area but I rarely go there as parking is horrible. If I had more money... and was single... lol, I would prefer Santa Monica or Venice, but those are obviously much much more expensive. For the price there is nothing nearly as good as DT LB imo. I would NOT recommend living outside of the DT area or 2nd street beach area. Most the rest of LB is just super ghetto gang-banger. I used to live in Long Beach and honestly, Long Beach doesn't have the same type of beach you would find in nearby surrounding cities (like Seal Beach & Huntington Beach). So I would call the beaches in Long Beach, fake beaches. But they are nice and quite small. Less people frequent these tiny little beaches and still offer plenty of sun and sand, wind and salty sea water. I like to come here to bring my dogs to the dog beach part of the beach and let them run around and chase the waves and also bark at the waves. They really seemed to enjoy it and doubt they can tell the difference between this beach and the dog beach in Huntington Beach). Long Beach's beach is pretty clean and there aren't a whole lot of bums around (as compared to Venice beach & Santa Monica's beach). Plenty of free street parking. Overall, a nice beach to check out, especially if you want to avoid the crowds. read more

This is not my favorite beach because I like to in the water when I go to the beach and you really don't want to go in this water. Oil tankers off-load right in the harbor and the water is less than clean on a daily basis. There is a film on the water and it's kind of gross. It is a nice beach to walk and ride bikes. It's cool at night when they turn on the lights and waterfalls. It's a great beach to sit on and soak up the sun or just people watch. Especially people watching; I mean this is Long Beach so there no telling what you are going to see!! read more

Lunch and and shopping Downtown long Beach near Pine. Some really decent restaurants but the hood is very seedy. Saw a woman get choked on the sidewalk while two local Security Guards just watched. Bystanders had to break it up all the while yelling at the guards to do something and call the police. Completely useless guards. Your on your own. read more

This place is nice if you dont like a crowded beach. I was here on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised at how empty it was. Most of the people are on the pier trying to catch fish. This review is for junipero beach and seal beach...parking is cheap but the beach leaves much to be desired...the sand is dirty, all sorts of trash paper plates, empty medicine bottles , baby wipe containers etc..the water is filthy..oh and there are sting rays.. there are no signs posted about the sting rays..my husband got stung along with 18 other people today..lifeguard also mentioned last week 40 people got stung.. stay away from this beach. read more

Long beach is the best city in the world. The food are beyond expectations and the people are friendly depends on your area. You can literally walk down the street and be more open to help than you are in los angeles. The difference is the atmosphere of this city. The beach are okay but nonetheless great. read more
