A nice sunny afternoon at the park calls for a little picnic. The old days are completely different at this park. Decades later, it's a whole new place. Still nice but with a major upgrade. It's part of the aquarium of the pacific just along the harbor. There's a parking lot that's part of it but the payment situations was a bit of a mess. Paying with credit card on the machine was a hit or miss. Which i also found out from someone else there. It's probably easy just to do it from your phone. It's a decent size parking lot but there's also parking at the structure just next to the aquarium. It's a cute rolling hill park that looks out to both the queen mary, shoreline village and the harbor. Depending on what side you are. It's a cute little walk around with the lighthouse on top. There's benches scattered throughout the park for seating. There's even a little beach like path along the harbor. Regardless which side you are, the view is quite beautiful. There's also fishing that you could do on the pier. You'll see people about and about walking, picnicking, walking with their dogs or a stroll. Long Beach has its hidden gems and this place was one of them. read more

I enjoy strolling through Shoreline Park each time I come to downtown Long Beach. It is a peaceful spot, passed the Aquarium, unique for the area. Quieter, green grass (it'd be nice to bring a book here) away from the hustle and bustle. And the views are hard to beat, the Lighthouse, the shore with boats and Queen Mary in the near distance. Shoreline meets Park... It's all in the name. This cool stretch of waterfront greenery, architecture, landmarks, loungey spots and scenic views is one you should definitely take in. Located off Shoreline Drive it's home to the Long Beach Navy Memorial, Lion's Lighthouse, Aquarium of the Pacific and so many local eateries, shops and sites. We strolled about for a while having a nice leisure late morning/early afternoon before lunch on the Queen Mary. It was kind of magical to enjoy after so long especially with someone incredibly special to me. There's plenty of places to stroll, have a nice lunch and enjoy the fun. It's fresh open air with a nice breeze even when the weather is warmer. You can find shady areas throughout while overlooking the boats in the water. I didn't really grow up in Long Beach, but it was frequented with family and our family who live nearby. Even after moving away for sometime my high school prom was held at the Aquarium. I've attended many Long Beach Pride festivals and we tend to make our way over here before or after for some nice downtime. A lot of the restaurants have been enjoyed in the past as well as food trucks in the more present. And there's plenty of them, especially those snow cone trucks. It's about 12+ acres in its entirety, with plenty of parking around though limited so others can come and enjoy. It does make it a little tricky if you want to spend a good chunk of time - Pike's Outlets parking has less restrictions, but none of the parking is overnight, so be mindful of that if staying close by while visiting. I believe the max for parking garages and lots is $16 for the day. The parking along the shoreline with meters is limited to 2 hours. While the park is open 24 hours, they do typically follow most public park rules in Los Angeles county from sunrise to sunset or roughly 8am to 6pm. Basically just means no one on site after those hours, very similar to the Aquarium's hours. It's a great place to enjoy solo, with friends/chosen fam, family, someone special and anyone you want to show this historic part of Long Beach. read more

Known officially as the 'Shoreline Aquatic Park', this 12 acre park is located near downtown Long Beach, right next to the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Marina (where boats will take tourists on hour long excursions) , and an easy walk from the Pike shopping center and Shoreline Village. Another one of many reasons why I love living in downtown Long Beach, Shoreline park has views of Queen Mary, the Carnival Cruise Line port (who had a giant ship at port on a Tuesday). There were various ice cream carts selling their wares throughout the park. The park also includes the Lions Lighthouse (an easy navigation marker), along with a ton of grassy areas with paved walkways, places to have a picnic or just chill and watch the water. A beautiful park so much you can do. Hubby and I took the harbor breeze boat for 45 mins for only $20 each. Walked around the park until get to the Shoreline village and ate at the yard house restaurant it was so good and ate ice cream and a cute place. My rating of 2 stars is based on my expectation of a calm peaceful park which is what it was described to be but what it wasn't for us. Was here on a Saturday afternoon/evening in the month of May, 4:45pm-5:15 pm warm day. You will like or dislike this park depending on what you are looking for. If you want to get high and picnic or relax with a lot of beer, and play music, if you have teen and adult family members and want to eat food truck food, you will like it. I think there is some sport fishing that a few people can do too (I saw some poles in the parking lot). If you want to peacefully walk along on a weekend afternoon/evening, you will hate it. If you want to go to a park with a little kid at those times, you will not like it either, because the constant, strong marijuana smell. We went for prom pictures. There were a few other groups and couples doing that. I recommend NOT for prom pictures this place!! The breeze comes up at the time of day you would take a pre-prom photo so all the girls hair was just a hot mess in photos. Plus, so much marijuana smell on a Saturday (which would be the typical day of a prom), which is not the ideal situation for some high school kids and their moms. That's not the park's fault: we just got bad info from some friends that this would be a good location for prom photos (maybe in the morning, though since there would be less breeze, less party atmosphere). My two star rating is not based on the hair-wrecking breeze, but on how crowded and pot-smelling the park was, fyi. I'm just putting the hair info to advise other teens and mom to take your prom photos elsewhere! The park on a Saturday afternoon/evening looks nothing like the pictures, It was not peaceful (but not at all dangerous; what I mean just not serene, not quiet like I think another reviewer described it). People were playing music, every green lawn space was very crowded with people with foldable tables & chairs & picnic blankets who seemd like they had been theire hours and were seemd to me a bit drunk or high. There was the smell of marijauna EVERYWHERE. The parking lot, the green grass/lawn area, everywhere. And it was windy due to the time of day and being right on the waterfront, but still, even with a strong breeze, just pot pot pot smell everywhere. It got in my hair. People were very social and loose and having fun, playing music,, a lot of people seemed to be running into old friends or there were extended family groups. There were several food trucks along the curb at the end of the parking lot where the lawn begins, one even in a parking space. There were some masked mini-motorcycle riders along the bike path, but people chatted with them and thought it was cool and the mortocyle guys seemd nice enough. But I'm guessing that probably was not allowed to have motorcycles on the bike path, and it again, added to the noise and energy of the scene. Many people in their lawnshairs had open containers of beer, not trying to hide it at all. It was just really surprising becaue I know almost all parks have rules about no alcohol, no open containers. Majority of people seemed kind of drunk or high, but relaxed and happy. The parking lot was very crowed & disorganized. But like others say, there is more parking at the aquarium parking lot within an easy walk away. read more

Great park to relax, take a strioll or spend the whole afternoon enjoying the sun and places to look at while strolling or walking your dog. We have a small Yorkie who enjoyed walking and running all over the green grass. The park has lots of trees and the gentle breeze from the bay was nice. How can one reach 10k-step goal in a day? Take a ride down to Shoreline, park, then go for a brisk walk. Husband and I love coming out here for a walk after brunch. Great way to soak the sun (need that vitamin D!) and see all the views of the shoreline. You can walk and talk or just go up to the lighthouse and chill. There is a walkway along the shoreline where you can enjoy the skyline of Long Beach. Here you will see the large cruise ships, the container terminals, little duckies in the water... There are many trees along the way. Bring a blanket and enjoy some shade under one of them. You can also enjoy a cold drink along the boardwalk after your walk (yes I always find an excuse for a snack) Or bring a water bottle because you will easily spend an hour plus just wandering. Wonderful place to spend an afternoon. You get sunshine, fresh air, boats, water, and the city as your backdrop. Walk up to the light tower for a panoramic view. They have scooters and bikes you can rent. We spent the most beautiful day here people watching, rolling down the hill, foot race, and even made flower necklaces like we did in grade school. My godson made me make ten so he could give them out to all the women in his life (grandma, aunts, mama, etc.). He collected flowers and made me sit there until he had one for everyone. He also made me roll down the hill (not as easy as it looks). We snacked on gold fishes and dum dums. The boys did NOT want to leave but we had lunch reservations. I love this low key strip of land! It's located in the backlots of shoreline as you drive past the aquarium & around the small traffic circle. There you'll find an equally small parking lot. Leave your ride there and enjoy what LBC has to offer. This is where Pine, LB Convention Center, The Pike, Shoreline Village, and that little aquarium promenade collide. Now, I've been here when it wasn't super poppin which was really relaxing. Parking wasn't horrible and the vibe always serene. A few years go by and there was a boom in activity with all the "festivals" and PokémonGo craze. I don't blame the uptick, it's a nice little place to casually walk around and gaze at all the stuff happening in the area. Stare off in the distance, lounge on the hill near the lighthouse, watch someone reel in a fish, or daydream about laying out in a cabana at the Maya Hotel. Got here biking with a friend up the bike path along the coast. There's a beautiful lighthouse on the park. It's a great spot for walking your dog in the afternoons, as there are not a lot of people. You get views of the harbor, and into the ocean. Would highly recommend coming by during the golden hour. read more

You can walk up to the lighthouse and look over the bay. I think you can see the Queen Mary from here too, which is pretty cool. Shoreline Park is freeway accessible and good spots for photos of the ocean or shoreline village as a backdrop. The park should increase maintenance rounds. Lots of shady spots under the trees and plenty of places on the lawn to throw out a blanket and claim a spot to chill, relax and check out everything. The walk up to the lighthouse is a gentle slope up and spirals its way around up to the structure. The lighthouse area offers information about the park as well as Long Beach back in the day when it was considered a top tourist destination. Shoreline Aquatic Park is a great, free, public park located just south of downtown Long Beach right on Queensway Bay at the southern tip of the Los Angeles River. There's a beach, though not designed for swimming, plenty of sand and green space, palm trees, a lighthouse, and terrific, wide-sweeping views of the bay, Rainbow Harbor, the historic RMS Queen Mary, and the Pacific Ocean. It's clean, safe, and beautiful. Not much more you can ask for from a city park. It's small at roughly 9 acres and aside from picnic tables and benches, there's not a whole lot inside. There's no children's playground, fountain, or anything like that. There is, however, a lighthouse on top of a hill. It's called the Lions Lighthouse for Sight (not to be confused with nearby Parkers' Lighthouse). An inclined, spiraling, paved walkway leads up to it. There are two piers on the south side of the park which are fantastic if you want better views of the water. I like the wide, palm tree-lined central walkway, as well as the wooden walkway that gently weaves its way through the park's sandy and rocky beach garden. Overall, this is a nice place for a casual walk/stroll, jog/run, bike, or picnic. It's also ideal for pets. The grounds are nicely groomed and well maintained. The sidewalks are free of trash and debris and the grass is trimmed and green. The white light poles make the park feel modern. Public restrooms are available on-site as is a pay parking lot which can be accessed via Aquarium Way. Aquarium of the Pacific is right next door and the Pike Outlets and numerous other shops and restaurants are within walking distance. If you're in the area, Shoreline Aquatic Park is worth checking out. After touring the Aquarium, my friend wanted to get a closer view of the lighthouse that's located at the park's vantage point. This is where my friends like to go for Pokemon Go. It was kind of nice getting out of the house and just walk. During the pandemic, definitely wear your mask and social distance. We can at least do that even though you're much, much safer being at home. The scenery is nice and it seems like a date-thing to do pre-COVID. I like walking around the lighthouse and walking around the park where it is kind of fun people watching. The aquarium is around there you could walk towards Downtown Long Beach passing by The Pike for shops, restaurants, snacks, and there is a Ferris wheel. Great place to hang out and relax. I came here with my best friend the other day around 8pm. We parked in the parking lot next to the light house. It was about $3 for 2 hours. We paid for it because we didn't want to risk it. I believe it's monitored everyday from 8am-12am? But who knows? Haha. Anyways, we brought hot cheetos with us to eat and talk. We sat on the bench at the light house. It was nice. I love the view! Such pretty lights of downtown long beach. It's a great place to just walk around and think about life. There's a lot of restaurants nearby with a few of shopping places such as Hooters, Bubba Gump, Yard House, Forever 21, Nike, H&M, and many others!! Before moving to Long Beach I wasn't expecting to love it so much but after exploring , I started to like it more. I live near all the tourist places and this park is a must. I feel so much peace when I walk around especially on a sunny day. If you're looking for a relaxed date or family day come here you won't be disappointed. The park has a 360 view of downtown Long Beach and there's nothing else that can make it better. How has no one mentioned Pokemon on Shoreline Park's Yelp page? This is one of the best places around if you want to catch 'em all. Surely I'm not the only person who's psycho about both Yelp and Pokemon Go? I came to Shoreline Park with my mom and brother for a Thursday night family Pokemon outing. We'd heard great things about the catching at the Pike, and I guess Shoreline Park is at the heart of the action. We drove down from LA and got to Long Beach around 9:00, and stayed until 1:30 in the morning. Parking was easy, in a nearby lot, even though there were tons of people around. Even if you're not a Pokemon-obsessed weirdo, I'd recommend checking out this park at night. I'd never been before, and it's really beautiful, with a lighthouse and a looping path that takes you out over the water. My only complaint is that the sprinklers are crazy, but the wet zones are easy enough to avoid. The views are gorgeous--this is convention center Long Beach, with the aquarium and the big hotels and the Gladstone's, but it looks absolutely lovely at the night. The crowd of nerds is also worth a visit, not only for cultural reasons, but because it makes the late-night park feel very safe. There was still a strong crowd when we left, and I've heard it doesn't dissipate until like 3. Also, lots of vendors selling snacks and drinks for the trainers, at prices much less marked up than at, say, the Santa Monica Pier. My brother had a bacon-wrapped hot dog. We caught something like 250 Pokemon--I got enough Shellders, Slowpokes, and Magnemites to evolve, as well as some Dratini, several Squirtles and a fish tank of Magikarps; the crowd chased a Porygon and a couple Grimers. It was a glorious night, well worth the drive from L.A., and I'm itching to get back. If I were local, I might even visit Shoreline Park during the day--it seems like a nice park, and I'll bet the catching is still solid. read more
