Sandpiper was always clean, bright, and immaculate. The food was excellent (I had some - who would have thought that cabbage soup would taste good?) I used to push Mom on her wheel chair to the park adjoining the home, to the Foster City levy under San Mateo bridge for sunset views of San Francisco, and even to her dentist and orthopedist - all within a 10 minute walk (near Hillbarn Theatre - so sorry she was unable to attend their shows - my loss! The staff took care of what had been a major chore - getting and administering a multiple of pills; a local pharmacy delivered all prescriptions and Costco is nearby for all bulk purchases. As Mom's memory, mobility and ability to talk decreased, she required increased care - incontinence, feeding, turning her body every 15 minutes. Not once did any of the staff complain, or Sandpiper's owner: Sapphire is an extraordinary lady - competent, kind, flexible, and concerned. She took care of all arrangements and ongoing management of hospice care. Her staff is more than competent - they love their work, and love the people they care for. It is difficult to conceive a more lovely, love-filled, wonder-full place for Mom's care. Note: Sapphire also owns and manages Holland House in San Mateo.

Also, Maria assisted us with the paperwork and met with us many times so that we felt comfortable with the process and our final decision. When you walk into the lobby, it is bright, cheerful, welcoming and happy. All the caregivers are smiling, saying hello, and are happy to serve the residents. My Aunt loved the food and we enjoyed many meals there as well. Although my Aunt's stay was very short due to health issues, we would definitely consider going back to the Trousdale in the future for our senior family members.

She was not happy about it but the staff assured me that it was not unusual and that they would help her acclimate. And they did. After about a month she not only was acting as though she'd been there 20 years but had befriended another lady who she had all her meals with. Bayview is clean and safe and while not inexpensive is about half what you would pay for 24/7 care at home by licensed caregivers. I owe a big debt of gratitude to the staff and administrators who made this an easier transition, not only for my mother, but for me as well so that I did not have to worry any longer about an independent nonagenarian still living at home by herself. Staff was caring and attentive and always available. The facility itself is very well kept up and during holidays always decorated. Highly recommend.

Quite frankly I thought I would lose her within the year. 5 years later she has gained weight( this is positive in her situation) and is doing great. We just celebrated her 97th birthday this month. Well with masks through the glass that is. Their safety measures during covid19 have been amazing. They locked down immediately and have not let up and their protocols. Healthcare for the elderly is not cheap , but I can honestly say the staff at Bayview Villa cares more about their residents than they do about your money.

Last December 2023 they were definitely not, even denying the asbestos/rehab problem existed. Your response is very surprising to see vs. the AG timeline. I agree that the health of people should be foremost, most especially those who are often confined to their rooms 24/7 from old age and/or disabilities. I don't know what department you work in, but if your mother, sister, brother or daughter needed care, I would hope you would not want them to accept living in a unit full of construction dust, much less with possible asbestos dust from a popcorn ceiling. Review: Not long ago I personally experienced, with witnesses, the results of the COVIA/Front Door rehabilitation process at Lytton Gardens next door. I also toured parts of Webster House. I have photographs and specimens of the materials that remained after unit rehab, and the things I was told by management align nearly exactly with what is quoted by the Attorney General in the case details below. Webster is attached to this property, was built around the same time and from my observations in using similar methods and owned by the same company. I would possibly have ended up in Webster Place SNS if/when my health degraded. Yelp oddly removed my original review, with their excuse, "because it wasn't clear that your review described your firsthand experience as a customer of the business." So specific and rapid, I'm curious why this happened because Yelp is so full of reviews that would be hard to verify were by people's "firsthand experience" at a business. Since I can prove to Yelp, if they like, that I DO have "firsthand experience" with this matter I believe my original review is valid. And perhaps Yelp could contact the Santa Clara Attorney General if they don't want to believe $randomcustomer. AG details are in the link below. I lost a lot of money because of this asbestos issue and feel it is important to make people aware of the actual conditions of these buildings and how they are operated- elderly and disabled people have enough vulnerabilities and don't need asbestos in their lungs on top of them. He stated that he wasn't paying me a dime, only working with my client directly and hung up in my face when I asked to speak to his supervisor. I would never send a loved one to a facility where the Director treats anyone with anger and hostility. In my 13 years in this business, I've only ever been spoken to with respect and courtesy. In response to David's response: Interesting that none of what you posted David was said to me on our call. Angry, hostile and indignant behavior was all I received. On this forum you take the time to say this to the community. I've been in this field for over 13 years. If I'm with another dying client, most Director's will modify the protocol which doesn't affect anyone in the parties. indignant interaction with me is not explainable after the fact and my clients do not want this for conduct for their family.

The staff are friendly and helpful. They do their best to accommodate your requests and very approachable and easy to work with. Plus a great view of the city and more sunshine than you usually find in San Francisco. Our room was private with a private bath and nice big windows to let in lots of light. There's lot of street parking for visitors and a park across the street. The is neighborhood is residential so quiet and very safe. Close to Castro so you can use Bart and Muni and there's the 6 and 37 bus as well. Would recommend!
