The food is delicious even though that's not even what I came here for. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries are soo crispy. The cheese curds where good. The milkshake was also very good. The food took a little while to come but that made sense because it was packed. If I didn't come for the food, what did I come for? The games, they have a wide selection of retro games, pinball, golden tee, and skee ball. You can get 12 hours of unlimited games for only $7. This place offers a fun night out with or without your kids. The location is great and they have just about everything you need for a fun evening out. First level has a more upscale feel to it. Then at the back portion of the first level they have some lanes for bowling. The second level is great and full of retro video games. Although I did find myself looking down at the skeeball machine for tickets after I had a good game, lol. The games included Frogger, Pac-man, Ms. Pac-man, Galaga, Donkey Kong and more. The manager Kyle is super welcoming and helpful with any questions. We didn't eat here but the service is good and we look forward to visiting again. I ate at the Pennant over this past weekend. My overall experience was positive, but there were a couple things I wanted to note. The venue itself is amazing, the interior set up is very up to date and cool. The staff are friendly and willing to help. I didn't have to wait long to be seated whatsoever. The food tasted amazing. The couple things I wanted to note are that the alcohol is on the pricier side, a small glass of wine being $7. The food itself is priced pretty fairly, except the appetizers are quite small and pricey. It also seemed like it took a really long time for the food to come out. My husband and I were passing through Topeka in our RV on our honeymoon roadtrip when we decided to give this place a try. We ordered takeout not knowing if they were available for dine-in. It was around 5pm on a Monday evening and our food was finished within 20 minutes or less. We ordered fried pickles which were amazing! Fried food is always iffy with takeout, but they were definitely hot and crispy! I ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken wrap and it was very spicy... but also extremely delicious. Would order again in a heartbeat. Actually makes my mouth water thinking about it now ha! My husband ate the Pollo Loco sandwich minus the black bean salsa (he's not a bean fan), and also loved it. Visited this establishment after a long day of travel. Restaurant is very clean and I was greeted immediately upon entering and seated right away. My server was very friendly and made sure everything was ok. Reason for only 4 stars??? By the time my food arrived everything was COLD. I ordered the Burger sampler and Cheesy fries. The burgers were cold and the fries were as well. You could see that the cheese has already hardened in the fries as the indicator the food was cold. My wife and I recently went to dinner on a Saturday night. There was a wait of about 30 minutes, so we dined at the bar. There were 2 bartenders and they were a little overwhelmed, could have used a bar back or a third bartender. I will give the bartender credit for trying hard to keep up. The bartender suggested I try the tater tot nachos. It was a big bowl of tater tots with about a couple of ounces of jalapeño cheese sauce. I ate here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and was a little disappointed. We walked in on the first floor to a huge wave of noise but I expected that at first. The hostess said there weren't any tables on the first floor but we could go upstairs and check to see if there were any open tables on that floor. Why they don't have a system that communicates between host stations is beyond me. We went upstairs and they sat up at a high top table right next to the arcade area. It was beyond loud. Kids were running everywhere and seemingly had no supervision. I understand parents want to find somewhere to go out where they AND they kids can have fun... but that doesn't mean you don't have to watch them. An arcade section in a restaurant should not be your babysitter. /end rant I ordered a fairly plain burger which was really good. I also had their poutine fries which was nothing to write to Canada about but decent nonetheless. My boyfriend commented that his burger was tasty. I was in last Sunday and the service was mediocre at best and the food was cold, not warm, not slightly warm, cold. I asked my server for at least fresh french fries which I only ate one then suffered through the burger which was cold also. It took over 20 minutes then I got fresh French fries which were still not hot. I talked a little with a couple of the servers (not my server); others that had waited on me at different restaurants. She told me they could not keep good staff because they are forced to split tips! What?! I hate when suppossed capitalist force others into communism. This is America!! If you force communism on your employees... then are your owners and management splitting profits and bonuses with them also? I will never frequent a place that forces communism. Was here on Monday, March 19, 2018 - just a few days after their official grand opening. Initial impression from the street and upon entry is that this is a fun place, well lit, with many options for entertainment. The first floor is primarily dining with a smallish bar and 4 lane bowling alley. Very neat - however, the bowling action seemed to add a lot of excess noise which could make it annoying during dinner. We went upstairs where there is a large bar (where we sat), seating for dining and quite a large variety of vintage arcade games (yes, there is Pac Mac and Donkey Kong!). There is also a good number of televisions which would make this a great place to catch a game or the next round of the March Madness tournament. There is also a beer garden area that has windows dividing it from the bar area and insulating it from the arcade noise. The beer garden area will be great in the summer as the windows open and the seating is picnic table style. Beer selection was good with several local draught options and a decent variety. Would love to see them add more taps in the future. I had a domestic bottle (for $4). Service was okay - like other reviews said, they could use at least another person behind the bar. Now for the food ... Everything on the menu sounds AMAZING - so it was difficult to choose. I went with the Nashville chicken sandwich with a side of fries. It should be noted that all of their sandwich options are a la carte and do not usually come with sides. The Nashville sandwich was smallish for the price and tasted good - but presentation could've been better. The sandwich came out on a plate by itself - nothing else, no garnish. So it looked rather spartan. The fries came out on another similar sized plate and while they were tasty, they should've gone ahead and put them on the other plate with the sandwich. Overall impression: I probably wouldn't order the Nashville sandwich again 1) because there are other interesting things on the menu, but 2) because there was really nothing remarkable about it. Overall - this bar is trendy and cool and a terrific addition to Topeka. It is a definite must visit and, when they get things going there, I will be changing my rating to 5 stars. Went to the Pennant today with my fiance, daughter, and mom. I got the Mighty Mushroom Burger and a side sunflower pesto salad. My fiance got the burger flight and a basket of curly fries. Mom got the Nashville Hot Chicken Strips and my daughter got a grilled cheese. First off, the salad was WOW and the burger, equally good with enough mushroom gravy to make the burger flavorful without making the bun soggy. I tried a piece of the hot chicken strips and it was very tender and nicely spicy. My fiance enjoyed the burger flight with the exception of the bourbon one only, he thought the sauce tasted a bit like Parmesan (completely a matter of personal preference.) I got the beet burger and the tofu fries. My burger bun was so buttery and greasy that I left it. The burger patty was good, but the chopped beets piled on top were weird and rubbery and did not taste like real beets. The tofu fries were super crispy, in a bad way. It was like the healthy aspect of the tofu was overshadowed by the amount of oil they used to fry these fries. However, I will say that the dessert was delicious. I got one of those vanilla iced cream and cotton candy sundays in a glass jar. The meal pales in comparison to this amazing vanilla treat. I met a friend at the Pennant at 11AM. Thank goodness we got there early, because the restaurant was just beginning to seat people and no one had started bowling yet, so we had a few minutes of conversation before the noise started. Concerning the parking issue, they validate your ticket from Centre City Parking that is about 1/2 a block to the north. Our waitress was new, but very friendly, attentive and helpful with choosing our food and beverages. I ordered a sampler plate of the gourmet burgers. I also ordered the sweet potato fries. The food was brought quickly and hot. Each of the sample gourmet burgers was large enough to be filling for lunch. I took 2 burgers home for later. The prices on the menu seem a little high until you get to taste the food and realize the quality and quantity. I did not give this restaurant 5 stars, because the noise level is overpowering. Tables are very close together, so expect to hear all conversations around you, plus the bowling alley wipes out any opportunity to have a nice conversations without having to yell to be heard. By 11:30 AM, the restaurant started filling with patrons and bowling began. We were crowded at our small table for 2 as people and waitstaff had to squeeze by on their way to other tables. By the time we left at noon, the noise level had reached a point that we couldn't hear each other and there was a line of people at the front door waiting to be seated. Food is great, but don't go to this restaurant is you are planning on a relaxing time to catch up with friends. read more
