It's all in the title - Perfect. 20 minutes twice a week with wonderful energetic helpful trainers - Darrell and Marco are amazing coaches that inspire and encourage, and ultimately get wonderful results. I feel strengthened to a degree I never have had at a regular gym with a regular private trainer and I have muscle tone and definition that I have never had before. This place is all about the slow burn. Really interesting way of weightlifting that felt effective! It's a quiet place with all the necessary equipment. During my session, it was just me and my trainer in a private gym. That's quite nice and felt more covid safe than getting PT at a big name gym. Just a 20 min workout with about ~2 min on each machine and I do feel pushed at the end of it! read more

I absolutely love everything about this workout and the facility. It is clean, quiet (no music), and every trainer is kind, considerate, and extremely supportive. I just turned 80 and believe that The Perfect Workout has (over the past 7 years) increased my capacity in every way. In fact, I have survived three medical emergencies and have been advised that having such a strong core and overall cardio health is mostly the reason. After giving birth, I was a little worried about getting back into the gym and working out but Valerie really helped boost my confidence and improve my strength. I was recovering from a couple of years of inactivity due to a foot injury. We were still in Covid lockdowns, but this workout offered a short session with face masks, and only the trainer and me in the studio. Unfortunately, my trainer had his sessions scheduled practically down to the second, which is understandable since he's probably being paid by how many clients he pushes through per day. However, even more unfortunately, I didn't feel he was paying enough attention to my remarks about how each workout machine was affecting me. I now am trying to recover from a shoulder injury that began during this "perfect" workout. I kept telling him that a certain machine was not feeling good for one of my shoulders, but he kept using this machine. I finally just quit. I just got a steroid shot in my shoulder. The Perfect Workout is, well, the perfect workout for people who struggle with finding the time to get in a good workout. I don't have a set work schedule, and I am able to set up my workouts (only 20 minutes!) on the fly each week. I love all the trainers, who are adept at keeping things challenging but not impossible. They can work around injuries or mobility issues, as well. A special shout-out to Jacinto, who is great at distracting me, and Cameron, who makes me laugh every time! Want your ass kicked? Work out with Estefania or Pow! Also, the group hugs are great when I've had a rough day! I've been doing the Perfect Workout for over a year and a half, and am stronger and more toned than ever before. And I got inspired to lose weight after seeing I could actually develop muscles - so am about 65 lbs lighter than when I started. It's not cheap - but it is a great value! read more

I love the perfect workout! In just a month, I am stronger and have more energy!

Honestly I was a sceptic of slow motion strength training, having grown up with traditional weight training methods. But I had zero upper body strength and very little time for exercising so I gave it a try. It really works. Twice a week and 20 minutes per session I can now lift a case of 24 bottles of water with ease. In 4 months my leg press weight has doubled. And I don't even break a sweat! The staff in San Mateo are amazing! When I first started I was severely immuno-compromised due to chemotherapy. Estefania and McKenna always made sure the machines were wiped down and made gloves available for me so I was protected. I have worked primarily with Estefania and Aurelio and both are outstanding trainers. They push me to my limits with kind, enthusiastic encouragement and always make sure I am staying in correct form to prevent injury. Highly recommend The Perfect Workout! read more

I love this program and this place! I took this up as I neared 50 havined noticed the inevitable loss of muscle mass, strength and definition. When I retired 3 years ago, I knew I needed to do something 'serious exercise' but I was worried about what would work for me. I have a serious back condition, 2 bum knees and a bad shoulder. Just walking into any exercise class wouldn't be successful and could hurt more than help. So I started looking at personal trainers. But I am not a sports person and never have been. Yes, I dance a lot, but not lifting weights, using machines. And personal trainers were intimidating, not to mention expensive. As I searched I stumbled into an ad for The Perfect Workout. It looked like something I could do, but I was skeptical, until I found out that the manager had some physical therapy training. I scheduled and haven't stopped going yet. A few months after I started, we had a home project. Can't remember what it was...painting a room?, cleaning out the garage?, landscaping?. What I do remember is realizing that I wasn't sore after completing the project. Pre-PW, I would have had sore muscles and hurting back, etc, for 2-3 days after such a project. But I didn't hurt! It was because my body was finally getting into shape thanks to Perfect WO. I lost 15 pounds and several inches during the first year. Down 1-2 clothing sizes. Awesome! The Perfect Workout is the perfect workout! I love it and rarely miss my session. No longer a lifetime non-exerciser! 20 minutes, 2xweek, personal trainer. I love working out here! I have had shoulder pain for years but their approach to weightlifting has kept me completely pain free in my workouts. It's amazing how good of a workout you can get in only 20 minutes here. After only a few classes, I started to feel stronger and was able to fit into clothes I had outgrown. You work one on one with a trainer so everything is customizable and you set your limits of what you can do. I've been working with Estefania who is so sweet and a great trainer! I've been going to the San Mateo studio for two weeks. The workouts are intense, definitely not easy, but I am already feeling stronger and feel a great sense of accomplishment. I've had three trainers, Cameron, Leah and Pao, and love all three. Each one offers something entirely their own. I'll check back in 7 weeks to report on my progress, but I know I'll be super happy with the results. This is a great system; you work yourself to fatigue but it's only 20 minutes so it's completely sustainable. This stuff really works! I can tolerate almost anything for 20 minutes and the effects of the slow tempo weight training really work. The pace is quick so the 20 minutes passes quick, but boy this workout is intense. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is getting older and hasn't been working out. I've been going for 2 years and love the improvement in my strength and flexibility. I am an old lady, and this improvement has really decreased my general achy-ness, upped my self confidence in handling luggage and grocery shopping bags, and I even look better naked! I wish I'd found this gym when I was in my 20s. The place is immaculate, no cheesy music, no filled-with-hormones people making cow eyes at each other, and so far, every time, I leave feeling better mentally and physically than when I entered. It is a physical strain sometimes doing the weight training, but that's the point. It really is only 20 minutes and as I remind myself when I sorta dread the effort it is going to take to do my next session, I can do anything for 20 mins. I've worked out at The Perfect Workout for over five years, twice a week, so clearly I think it is WORTH the price and my time. At 66 years old, I am concerned about lots of aging issues, and I know that PW is definitely PART of MY SOLUTION!! I've added this to my regimen of 20-30 miles of walking a week, and I have remarkably added both upper body and lower body strength. I routinely leg press the complete stack (500 pounds!). I have been going to this studio twice per week for the past two years. The staff is amazing...all of them. I primarily train with Joe and Estefania but have trained with McKenna, Aurelio and Justin and all of them are excellent. I am definitely stronger and have much more energy. The workout is great & I enjoy most of the staff members but it is frustrating to get evening appointments (basically starting from 5pm onwards). Most people in the Bay Area commute to & from work & morning & afternoon appointments may not be a viable option. If this issue was to be cleared up I'd raise my rating a full star. read more

I came here to recover muscle mass after cancer treatment. I admit I was doubtful. 20 minutes 2x's a week? C'mon!. But, I've only been at it a little over 2 months and have already increased my muscle mass. I am not a big fan of working out in gyms; I'd rather be outside doing aerobic activities.
