We walked into the bar from the back door on the last Sunday before Christmas looking for breakfast. Thought we were in the wrong place until we were warmly greeted by the sole waitress/bartender. Turns out they have a really great breakfast menu, good coffee and good music playing. We tried a variety of items, pancakes, eggs, hash browns, ham, and steak. All really good. I originally walked to Hale's which was closed ! Then I saw this place across the way. Had extremely high hopes walked over a mile from the hotel Went in sign said please be seated. Got the senior chicken fried steak and husband got shrimp. We will start with my steak, the only reason it got at least a 2, it was ok. The shrimp ( which I love love shrimp) was definitely old, and had zero flavor and rubbery . My husband gave me one and I couldn't even eat it, the cocktail sauce was so old and tasted like paste. We have been there several times in the past and was always happy with the food. Pretty tasty! The menu is very American, and all items are cooked to match that 'American' feel. I really enjoyed my cinnamon roll; it was light and not heavily frosted or seasoned. The biscuits and gravy were alright, the gravy is super creamy, not chunky, nice flavor. I also ordered a side of tomato, which balanced the biscuits and gravy perfectly. Ordered a Med-rare cooked steak. Received a Well cooked steak. Asked for the charge to be removed from the bill as it was not what we ordered. I was offered $2.00 off of the $21.95 steak. I declined, asked for the manager, Cherie, who then upped the offer to $5.00 off of the $21.95 steak. Why as a customer would I pay either $19.95, or $16.95 for a steak that was not cooked the way I ordered it? We drove through town to see my Grandparents old house. We decided it would be fun to have breakfast here. Our first destination restaurant was not open yet . We sure are happy because we would not have come here. Mom and I had Eggs Benedict, it truly was the best we can ever remember having. Hubby had a big breakfast with pancakes and they were great too. Went here for breakfast with a co worker. Waited about 5 -8 mins for anyone to acknowledge us once we sat down. Then finally they brought us menus. I ordered the big breakfast burrito and asked for the potatoes to be inside the burrito. (Which it usually is anyways). Well we waited 34 minutes to get our food and by that time I was ready to leave. There was nothing big about this burrito and they still put the hash browns on the side! I asked her why and she said the cook made a mistake. The waitress was extremely nice and understanding but that was my last straw so I told her to keep the burrito and left back to work late from my lunch and still hungry. We called the pheasant ahead of time to reserve a table for the McGregor Mayweather fight. Tickets were $30 each which is pretty pricey. So one would think that there would be a table reserved for you when you arrive correct? Apparently not at the pheasant. If you arrive after 5 PM when the rest of the world decides to arrive for a 9 PM fight, then your table will already be given away!! So they crammed us into an already full table they had drug out after the fact when they realized that they didn't have enough tables for everyone-with a bad view. This new table was also in the walkway so you had everyone's rear end rubbing against your back as they passed by. (When I reserved they had assured me that we would have a table with an excellent view). Anyway - never going back. Hopefully your visit will be better! read more

This is definitely an old fashion diner. We were traveling and veered off through Hermiston to grab a warm meal. I had the salad bar and my husband had meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
