Memory care is an absolute nightmare. The floor is like fly paper, they do the laundry, but never even turned the clothes right side out and just stuff them in the drawers, and they have one supervisor that they rely on for seven days a week 24 hours a day. That is an impossible job for anyone and they're too cheap to find extra help. There is very little mental stimulation for the people in memory care. I think it's all about the money and they hope the memory care people don't remember any details to report to their family. The staff doesn't even notice a guest walking in at times. All of them are over in the corner, looking at their telephones. I had walked in more than once to find my family member lying on a bed directly on the plastic! No sheets, no blankets no nothing. We also had numerous pieces of jewelry come up missing from the memory care unit. Granted, we shouldn't have had anything expensive there, but still you like to trust the staff.. Say no to their memory if you love the person you're looking to place there!

This last year during the COVID virus has been challenging for all senior communities. TCW has met the challenges head on, and has been proactive in all areas where needed to continue to keep the residents safe and healthy. From delivering meals directly to each resident, ensuring to screen residents for infection, monitoring and cleanliness, following state mandated guidelines, coordinating that all residents are vaccinated and working daily to keep each resident engaged in the community during a global pandemic, I applaud the staff. There are so.many outstanding and dedicated staff members that have gone above and beyond to ensure the residents quality of life is the best that it can be. In a pandemic, that is no small feat! TCW is a beautiful facility, filled with caring residents. My mother loves this community, the activities, the staff, her lovely apartment and her friends. Just walking in the door, makes you realize that happy residents live here. Thank you TCW staff for all your commitment. So glad that 2020 is over, and the virus pandemic is resolving. You all deserve a metal of honor!

However, as a health care…read moreprofessional, I feel I would be neglectful not speaking up if someone is looking to put their loved one's here. Last fall, we along with three other families moved our beloved family member out of this establishment and are so happy for it. When Arbor Terrace first opened, it was quite lovely. Over the last several years, all the original staff left, no consistency or quality in care and often down right neglect! We would often come to visit to see medication lying in clothes, under bed, and on shelves which means many many doses missed. More times than we can count, we would find all the sheet sets missing and would pull back comforter to see staff allowing our loved one to sleep on only a plastic mattress so as to avoid having to wash soiled sheets. Often our loved one was not offered the opportunity to use the facilities in eight hour shifts causing several dangerous U.T.I's. In the end, the owner found it easier to ask residents to leave instead of correct the problem. They only hire teens and call them aides, they hire 18yr olds who take a 7 week course on how to give meds, but do not know what they are for, and call them nurses or med techs. They do not Watch patient take and are not liable if mistakes made because they are not real nurses. They have 1 nurse on staff who is over 93 patients, not there on weekends, evenings and often at other facilities during the week. My husband and I go to many Assisted Living facilities as our ministry. None are as neglectful as this facility. We moved our loved one a year ago to a place that is not as fancy looking on the inside, but the quality of care is night and day. #ask turnaround off staff.#qualifications, #researchcomplaintsonfacilitywithombudsman,#patient to staff ratio , #%resource-staff. numberofstaffhangingtogetherincommonareaormursingstation, not in room assisting. The owner is in CA, and admits he is covered by law because GA has the easiest laws and more profitable with less chance of being sued by owning an Assisted Living than apartment complex. GA does have the worst laws protecting the elderly but being a huge advocate of the elderly, Arbor Terraces would be the last place I would put anyone. You are better off sending loved one out of state but truly there are good places locally, you just have to do your homework.

Because she was very ill from catching the virus at your facility in Sugar Hill, Mom was so weak that she couldn't go to the bathroom herself, and had already fallen. So I was staying on a cot in her room. I needed to go out to check on my dog and get clean clothes and food. I asked Jenna if she could please have someone watch mom for half an hour. She agreed. I received a call after about 15 minutes that mom had fallen again. I rushed to Benton house to find mom with a huge blood filled bump on her head. She was dazed and possibly concussed. Jenna swore up and down that someone was checking on mom. Then she backpedaled, simpering about company policy that wouldn't allow an employee to watch mom even for a very short period of time. They can only help after mom fell, and she pressed the pendant. Of course, Jenna conveniently left out the fact that if you are knocked unconscious or the aides take an hour or more to respond because half were sick with covid ( since there is no vaccine requirement), I guess it is too bad for the resident. I found out later that Jenna lied about having someone keep an eye on Mom because it was a resident that called for help when she saw mom lying in the doorway to her room. No one was even told mom needed watching. So you can ditch the platitudes. Admit that the only important value of Benton House is the bottom line. Residents are insignificant. Management are soulless monsters that can't even be bothered getting vaccinated or draw up a working plan to stop the spread of a deadly virus. I chose Benton House believing that Mom would be safe at the times I couldn't be with her. I was so wrong. My wonderful Mother died today. I am seriously considering contacting the senior ombudsman or a lawyer so no other daughter will have to go through this nightmare caused by your people's failures. Sincerely, Susan Hilla

The building is very clean, attractive and well kept. She originally lived in a cute 1 bedroom apartment with her own furniture and art. A year ago, after suffering a stroke, she moved to the Memory Care where she lived until her death. The care providers are really what makes this place exceptional. I felt like everyone there really cared for my mom. Whenever I visited, the staff would catch me up in detail on how she'd been. Her personal care was always excellent even after she became non-verbal. The administration is always available and easy to work with. The nursing staff is top notch as well. I recommend Benton House of Sugar Hill without reservation.
