I think this store is out of business. On December 8, 2015 I ordered some Sony camcorder batteries. The store did call and said they don't have this particular one anymore, and if we could take a compatible sub. Hesistantly I said ok, and verified with my tech guy. Found out its not an OEM but an aftermarket. I tried calling them and the 844 number went to a full voicemail box. I tried googling a local New York number and no luck. There was another "Photo land NY" company listed on Yelp but not the same address and the number also went to voicemail. I think we just lost out on $200. read more

A male calls at 6:00 am local time and says that my order has a 6-8 week delay, and if I would like a "better" battery at the same price. I purchased a Nikon battery from this company and they pulled off a scam. They tried replacing the name brand with an aftermarket battery. Once they told me that, I tried to cancel the order, the man kept telling me that he had a better battery that was a Nikon battery, but it would cost $5.00 more. When I got the battery it was a aftermarket battery and didn't even fit my camera, and charged $11.11 more for it. Ordered a camera battery and they nicely called and told me it was backordered but there was a better grade available. I asked if the quality was equal and was deceived and upsold. when it did not work, I followed their directions and called twice, emailed to get an RMA number. I spoke to two people, multiple calls did not get answered, who said the RMA person would call me back. They sound good on a call but never returned emails or calls. Then we returned the product and found the address on the web site is incorrect by the postman who returned the package stating the "business does not exist". Now we'll fight the charge on our card. I ordered a Nikon EN-EL14 from them for the amazing price of $18.99. Then I got a call from them saying the battery was on a nationwide back order. He said he would send Nikon's better longer lasting battery at their cost of $34.99. I got the battery a few days later and it was a Bowers XPDNEL14 which sells for $9.99 at Amazon and as low as $8.99 and no higher than $18.99 at other places. I called and was told that was a professional battery with a chip in it, they don't list it on their website! I hate being lied to, and I hate being cheated. I should have looked for the reviews. Thephotoland.com Inc is a Scam ... Does not have the products he claims to sell on the website. When I requested to cancel my order 'Chris' said a different brand of the product has already been shipped out to me. (Of course there's no email confirmation with tracking number.) I said it's not what I ordered and therefore don't want it. He proceeds to say, "I don't care what you want" he's very unreasonable and juvenile if you contest the transaction in any way, unprofessional to say the least. I don't think this is a real business, seems to just be a guy named Chris sitting at home receiving orders he can't fulfill then forcing some low grade product by calling the customer up. Store rep calls, bad connection, tells me Canon charger on back order, 6-8 weeks but they can send a "just as good one" for $24.00 and I can have it in four days. Update of my January 28 review: I managed to get a refund of my credit card charge by disputing the charge with my credit union. I had to prove that I had attempted to contact photoland by phone and by e-mail - received provisional credit at once and full credit within a month. I still would not recommend this outfit to anyone. One other observation: I can't prove anything here; but it seems more than coincidence that within two weeks of sending my order to Photoland, my credit card was compromised and I had to cancel it and replace it. This is just a guess on my part, but I wonder if part of Photoland's scam is to attempt to use credit card info to pursue identity theft. Anyone else have a similar thing happen? The next day they called and said the battery was on back order but they could sell me a fully compatible high capacity Bower XPDNEL14 for "their cost" $29.99. I agreed and once it was delivered I decided to do some research. I found the same battery on Amazon for $9.99 with the worst customer ratings I've ever seen on Amazon. My mom and I ordered a Nikon battery charger and a 1 day shipping which costs over $50 in total. Then when we looked at the reviews it was so bad that I then emailed them to cancel the order. Recieved a call saying the batteries I ordered where not in stock and that it would take 7-8 weeks to get them and that they would upgrade the batteries to EN EL-14A for an extra $5 a piece. I wish I had read these reviews first! The people who run this place are crooks. Like all the other reviews here, I ordered the batteries, got suckered in by the price. Then came the phone call. Out of stock on the OEM batteries I bought at a too good to be true price... but I can get the "better" ones... I told them I needed them by the end of the week. No problem I was told. No follow up email. no tracking number and of course, at the end of the week, no batteries. I called twice and got the recording. I sent an email that went unanswered. I called again today and the very rude man that answered told me I should get my batteries "soon". I asked him to define "soon". Silence. I said I needed them today. He said I should get them today. Do not do business with them, I placed an order initial for three(3) Nikon En-El14a batteries at $18.99 each. Three days later received a call the there was a backorder, however, the Batteries could be purchased from another company at $29.99 each. Informed the sales rep that I required the En-EL 14a for it was the only Battery that works with my Nikon 5600, that I did not want the batteries if they were not compatible with my Camera. The Rep stated they would check with the company if the batteries they had were the ones I requested and would be compatible with my camera, I received a call back that they batteries were the batteries my camera required. However, 9 days later I received two(2) Nikon en-El 14 batteries and not the High capacity EN-EL14A rechargeable Li-ion batteries I order and noted on the copy of the administrative panel sheet they placed in the shipment.
