The menu selection and pricing is totally out of line of what you get. A Cobb salad was very basic for $18. We have ordered this salad at other restaurants that were much better and priced way less. The handheld sandwiches are also outrageously priced. How can a hamburger and fries cost $20. Other than a nice view of Lake Wawasee, this restaurant is not worth it. My wife and I went for our anniversary last night and the food was terrible! My wife had the Halibut and it was so overcooked that she could barely cut into it with her fork. The Back Porch at Oakwood hotel is one of our favorite places to visit when we come to Syracuse. We love Bringing the boat over and having a date night or family dinner on the covered porch. Very nice dinner here. Atmosphere was great, food was wonderful! Got the steak sandwich with a side chicken salad. I added the garlic aioli to the sandwich- very glad I did. Otherwise is would have been very dry. But it ended up being delicious! Also got the Philadelphia roll which was very fresh. Lobster bisque was also great. Came back... well we were staying at oak wood for weekend and this was only choice. The receptionist was rude but Don the manager took care of us quickly and made sure we had a good time. Also i got fresh raw oysters that should always be served over ice, there's we're not, but they were fresh. Brucesetra could have been a little more toasted and more basil. RUDE SERVERS! The food is severely overpriced for what you get. It's very loud and obnoxious. The location is nice, but they get a lot of obnoxious drunk boaters pulling up in the evenings and it makes for an unpleasant atmosphere. Worst of all the service is slow, disorganized and RUDE. We have been to this resort many times and will likely return, but this restaurant will get no more of our money. It's been mediocre, poorly-managed and overpriced every time, but I won't be snapped at by a 20-something waitress with a bad attitude and an unpleasant demeanor. Go to the Channel Marker or Sleepy Owl instead...avoid this place. You know it's bad when the front desk staff is telling people to eat at The Channel Marker instead of the property restaurant. read more

(10 minutes later) We have the best server we have ever had here, very attentive despite the very busy evening. Kudos to the manager for having plenty of wait staff and well trained staff at that. Great location, service is good, people are friendly, food is hit and miss. Two nights this week I tried salads, both are a miss. Caesar salad had good lettuce, crappy dressing and boring croutons. "Greek" salad was a misnomer. Again, good lettuce but down hill from there. It had some shredded cucumber, canned sliced ripe California olives (not Greek) and a couple of cherry tomatoes. The only feta cheese was from the dressing. It got served with salmon instead of the shrimp I ordered. My husband had the seafood pasta which was good. The maki appetizer was bleh, most at table didn't eat theirs. He liked the clam chowder but guessing it was canned as well since our friend ordered some and it took a long time to heat a new batch. We started with the cheddar ale dip and chips, which were good (and all gone), though not the highlight of the meal. The kids had plenty to choose from and the adults went with the Chipotle salmon (outstanding), tuna tartare (very good) and seafood martini (10 out of 10!). The salmon mousse/salad in the latter was surprisingly my favorite item. The martini also included some tasty shrimp and phenomenal crab claw fingers. They drank in their boat on the cheap then took a table next to ours carrying in a boom box and EDM and boom-boom 80's/90's and remakes. We eventually moved tables when one opened up. Worse, the staff seemed to know them and did nothing to ask them to turn it down or more appropriately-turn it off. I ordered the BBQ chicken handheld and my boyfriend ordered the blue gill basket. Best part of my 40 dollar meal was the sweet potato fries. Best part of his were the hush puppies. Some of his fish had a very muddy flavor, but others were okay. My chicken was a very small portion but had a good flavor. I didn't have any of the bacon on my sandwich and there was way too much barbecue and mustard because my bottom bun was saturated with it to the point of being soggy when I received my sandwich. My friends got the california roll and they said it was good. Apparently the sushi chef is from Jamaica.
