Our family sat down and waited 15 minutes while the wait staff didn't acknowledge us. A waitress walked to every other table in our area multiple times and did not even say a single word to us. The food looked delicious, but we can't speak to that and won't be visiting again. Even as we walked out, not a single person attempted to speak to us. There was only 1 other table seated in our area when we arrived, and there were 6 including ours when we left. read more

Food was good service was typical for a bar and our server was helpful and busy. Maybe slightly understaffed for clients that want drinks as soon as empty but it's a fun atmosphere and good service as long as you understand it's a lake bar. read more

The good attributes of the Frog are it's location, convenient access with a boat, okay outdoor seating and decent food. I started with the fried pickle Spears. They were recommended by others so I tried them. The breading was tight to the spear without being too thick. They had a little spice. The pickles didn't have an over powering dill taste but were excellent. My wife liked her Caesar salad with chicken. She liked that they put the dressing on the side and the chicken was moist and tender. I had the breaded tenderloin which was a decent size and very tasty. The breading was thick but soft and with a small amount of spice. The loin was moist and soft. They didn't have real horseradish. The Cole slaw side was really small and didn't have a distinguishing taste - just there. The sad part of the experience was what everyone has complained about. Our server Megan was not very good. In defense of the other four servers...they all hustled and were friendly. The dock master was Johnny on the spot to serve boaters. He got them in and out quickly and safely. He bussed tables when he was in between boats. The outside waitresses ran their tails off as they had lots of customers. Our Megan had a few indoor customers. She was stationed in a corner on her phone when we came in. She was over heard saying she didn't want to be there. The other team members told her to hang in there that she only had 2:15 to go. Megan was slow to get to her few customers. She was generally lost mentally - bad day I guess. She dropped a whole tray of food. She let it sit there for a good 25 minutes before she cleaned up the floor. You can decide if you want to go to The Frog. Be warned...the food is good...but the service could ruin your experience. read more

IF I'm going to rate sitting outside, eating fried pickles and drinking a frozen margarita - I give this place 5 stars. If i had to sit inside - it would only get 2 stars. The vibe inside is NOT my thing. I'd love to see this place get a remodel. However, I HIGHLY recommend that you bring your boat over. Have their awesome staff help you tie up the boat and find an outdoor table. Order the fried pickles and a frozen margarita - enjoy every bite/sip...then head on over to The Oakwood for dinner. The fried green beans are very good when not over done. They are struggling with wait staff like everyone. The ladies that are here are trying their best. Longer wait than usual. Mens restroom has been wrecked. No ginger ale available. read more

The frog is a staple of the night life in Syracuse.People flock to the frog On holidays especially around memorial day, labor day, 4th of July. People can get married on the frog boat. Many celebrate bachelorette parties, Bachelor parties, and wedding after parties there. The drinks are affordable. Hanging out on the back patio next to the lake is a must. read more

Horrible service. Didn't even eat here. Came to be seated and when they told us part of the outdoor seating was closed off (which was fine), I told them we would need seats inside. The hostess completely ignored me and walked away from me. I stood there for 5 minutes with no one offering to help and finally left for the Channel Marker. This place is a joke. I thought I had rated this place last year, when we were here on vacation but apparently not. I would have given it 2 stars last year as well. Husband and I went In for lunch at noon. There were 2 tables seated inside, and 2 tables seated outside. We sat outside and the waitress came over right away with menus. We ordered drinks and it took 15 minutes to get 2 beers. We ordered our lunch and It took an hour to get our food. In reading other reviews, this is a chronic problem at The Frog, and the same thing happened to us last year as well. While waiting we talked with Tommy who is the dock master. Really nice guy who has been doing his job for 29 years. He is known and liked by the people who come in by boat for meals. The food is good and plentiful for bar food. Husband had a Rueben and I had pork loin sandwich. This place is losing money like crazy by not turning their tables any faster. The frustrating part is that after we got our food, the customers who came in after us had their food in 20 minutes. The same thing happened last year as well. There's some kind of issue in the kitchen, or the ordering process that needs fixing. So we'll come back if we have a lot of time to waste eating lunch. read more

So, i went the few days following their "reopening". It was a Friday night. Sat outside and enjoyed the great weather and awesome views. Sunset was perfect that evening. Unfortunately the service must have forgotten about the patio. I know, with all 3 tables out there (one coming and going from inside to out) it's hard to keep track. Honestly, no big deal. I had an app, couple beverages and called it a night. I would have ordered dinner but for the missing service. Oh well, I was just happy that they were open for business. Do not go here. We were ignored from the moment we walked in. We had to go get a servers attention behind the bar to see if we could sit outside. They said sure, and that they would bring us menus. (who were blatantly ignoring us) They were not busy either. They never came out with menus, so after waiting 10 plus minutes, we left. Place was run down and dirty. read more

Worst, most rude staff. Before even getting into the building, we were treated with blatant disrespect. The door worker was this miserable older lady that we did absolutely nothing wrong to. She asked us each for our ID and a second form off the bat, and then said "Address." very demandingly. I told her my address but had forgot to say my town and zip, and she says, "The whole thing", being very snappy. She then snapped at my boyfriend because he accidentally almost walked away without his wristband for paying the cover. We did not argue with her whatsoever, we just decided to get inside and move on with our night. When we got inside, we were told we could not set our drinks down in certain places and that we could not take them on the dance floor. Our drinks got picked up by workers and grabbed 3 different times within the 20 minutes of being there. There were more security members in here than there were people and bartenders. We felt very uncomfortable and had our time ruined, so we decided we were not going to give this establishment any more of our time or money. Reading the other comments only further proves how incapable this management team is of running a business. Going here for food or a night out would be a major mistake. read more

The Frog Tavern - bet it is hopping (no pun intended) in the evenings. We went in the afternoon to have lunch. Sat inside because it was rather hot outside. However, looks like it would be a great night time party place. All the frogs come out at night. It sits right on an inlet to Lake Wawasee and there is outside seating to watch the inebriated try to act as if they aren't inebriated while they attempt to dock their boat. Getting off the boat - some have better footing than others. There are pool tables so the inexperienced can get hustled. There is also a large inside dining area to stay away from the pond. THEY ARE CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 4TH, 2010 I saw someone used the term "Conklin Bay" in a previous review, that made me smile, I haven't heard that name in awhile. The Frog Tavern or "The Frog" is really THE place to be on Lake Wawasee. On any given summer weekend that I'm at the lake, I will have lunch at the Frog and go back that night for drinks. The mix of summer folks and locals always makes for an interesting time. They have the best food on the lake. I love the onion rings and fried pickles (yes, you read that right). It's good ole American food. Come proper. You boat there.... always. You only drive if the weather is just awful. The SS Lillypad II is their booze cruise boat. They have Jimmy Buffett cruises as well which are a blast. You have to get tickets early if you want to partake. If you go to Lake Wawasee and don't go to the Frog, you are an idiot. Get Karmen as your waitress, she's the best. read more

Had Lunch there on Wed. About 1:30 not a busy lunch time. Worst service I've had in years. The waitress was obviously new with little or no training. She lost the order to the table on our left and ignored us to wait on the table to our right who came in after us. She said I'll be back with some water and never came back! Later we got waited on by a different waiter who had experience but was slow. We waited a half hour for burgers and they were cremated! The food was warm but not hot. Nothing about this meal was good, but the Salad which had all kinds of good stuff a lot of very fresh iceberg lettuce, too bad i couldn't have got a piece of that on my sandwich instead of the unrecognizable piece of something other than iceberg. We won't be going back. Oops, Went back , philly steak was tough and stringy , fries are not hand cut. ( machines today make that easy). Tall skinny waitress cussed like a sailor. Pizza was awful. The cheese was mushy & would not melt. When we got the pizza home we tried to heat it to melt the cheese. I've never tasted anything so bad. We threw both of our pizzas away. We will never go back. read more

Good atmosphere. Great to have outdoor seating though the actual seats/picnic tables really need updated. They're broken and uncomfortable. The service is poor the majority of the time. Very slow! It took 45 mins for our 2 appetizers to come out. 15 mins for our drinks. Too long to take our order. It seems to be the kitchen's problem as well as slow table service. The servers maybe over loaded with work, but they could also do a better job communicating with customers on how they will be seen "after I do "x", then I'll be back to take your order..." I'll be back mostly because there aren't too many options on the lake where you can drive right up in the boat. This place could REALLY be soo much better. Disappointing. read more

My dad used to take me to The Frog for lunch (and to feed the ducks) when I was young. I've been frequenting the establishment for decades. It's a Wawasee landmark that has undergone many transformations over the years - most have been very positive. Lately, however, the quality of the food has declined sharply and the building is falling into disrepair. The bathrooms aren't clean and a sign on the sink instructed me to not use the water. Prices are still reasonable and the atmosphere remains festive (albeit loud). Service is hit or miss, generally because they seem understaffed. Beer selection is very limited. Maybe if I was in my 20s I could give it more than two stars. But I'm older now and have higher expectations of this once classic Wawasee establishment. read more

The Frog is like one of those phone calls you ignore because you think, "Oh I'd love to talk right now, but it'll take too long." You know what I mean? It's that friend that always interrupts you when you're about to say, "I really should get going." Make sure you clear your schedule because you'll be here at least an hour and a half. The food is good, the service is friendly, but it's consistently slow. And I believe it's the kitchen's fault here. Regardless of what your server tells you, expect your order to take a bit of time. But when it comes to Syracuse, IN this is perhaps your best option. Because the food is good and I've always been mostly happy with what I've ordered. The Frog is really great for those leisurely summer days with friends by the lake which leads me to say they have great patio seating. And I can't think of any better way to have a meal by Lake Wawasee. And as some reviewers have pointed out, it really is "the best food on the lake." It should also be noted that the Frog is hopping (no pun intended) with people on the weekends with karaoke, bands, and dancing. I've only been once in the evening and had a great time. A unique place in it's all. Lets start with the food - go somewhere else. Menu is very simple and not much to choose from unless you want fried, processed foods. The nacho's are ok if you are just getting an ap. Drinks- pretty cheap and pretty good. Several good beers on tap, Full bar, lots of liquor varieties. I think the drinks were the best part because of the price and qualities. This is deff a watering hole more so then a restaurant. Service - Sooooo strange... a busy Saturday night, and you have one bartender/server! So we originally had a waitress that brought us drinks and our dinner... then we see her walking out with her purse in hand. She didn't say anything to us (not even along the lines of hey I'm heading out, feel free to grab drinks at the bar and you can close your tab there). She said nothing, we just saw her leave. And that was it. Our food sat on the table even though we were done. To get more drinks and close our tab we went up to the bar. Where like I said there was 1 bar tender. She was very nice and did her best to accommodate the thirsty Saturday night crowd. The fun - ok so it's great that they make you go outside to smoke so you don't smell like an ashtray, which is a common thing in these necks of the woods. There was a DJ/Karaoke. That was fun. The drunker you get the better everyone sounds! There is even a dance floor, which don't worry had those few rowdy country girls getting it! The DJ played a nice variety of country/rap/oldies and took a lot of requests. So that was fun. There is also a pool table and some video game machines as well! You will meet all kinds of folks in here, most of them pretty friendly whether they are locals or tourists. DO NOT GET DRESSED UP FOR THIS JOINT! Casual... Like REALLY casual. Like jeans and a T shirt casual. In the summer I guess boats dock by here and people are even in swim suits and coverups. I've never eaten at The Frog but the atmosphere is pretty amazing. The ecentric locals that live around the lake are as fun-loving and friendly as you'll find anywhere. To give you an example of the hillarity of the place: There was a group drinking 24 oz white russians and another who had more than one person fall face first onto their boat before departing from the back dock. Everyone seems to know each other and the live music is always great. read more

The food is squarely in the average category of typical bar food. The menus are filthy dirty, salt and pepper shakers are covered in grime. COVID cases are at an all time high right now and not one single staff member was wearing a mask even though it is mandated be the state. I will not return. read more

Last week I Walked in with my family which included my partner my sister and my kids. After being seated and waiting a while (it really wasn't that busy) we decided to leave bc the wait on food was going to be one hour. As we were walking out we hear the bartender scream at the waitress dropping the F bomb numerous of times. How unprofessional! I felt horrible for the waitress. During times like these times are rough and having to put up with a co worker like that is just awful. Yea not a very family friendly environment to take your family for dinner. We stopped by for dinner on 7/7/18. We ordered the special and it took over two hours to get our meal. Food was cold, service was terrible and they did not have enough help to clear the tables. They gave us plastic knives to cut our meat! What a terrible place to take your family for dinner. We will never go back! read more

The Frog is the only place in town to go Dancing other than Duffy's. In the summer it is mostly Lakers under the age of 25 (at night) and they have good bands and decent DJs. I have always had fun here but DO NOT post on Facebook about your experience. I made the mistake of posting how much fun I had but the DJ sucked, and the owner of The Frog stalked my address and placed a paper in my mailbox threatening me and my family to stay off his property. heh The food is decent, the wait is long and it's kinda pricey, but all in all it's a good place! Went in to have drinks, didn't happen! We sat at the bar and the bartender walked right past us, they had all of maybe 12 people in the place!
