I've always wanted to try The Pig and the Lady since everyone seems to hype it up, so we were lucky enough to snag a last-minute reservation! There's validated parking in the garage right next to the restaurant. I believe we ended up paying around $2. The restroom is also located adjacent where the garage is (you'll need the pin for the keypad that's posted in the restaurant). The service was excellent, but unfortunately, the food came out pretty slowly. Ambiance was great. The chicken wings were flavorful and delicious, but the Bò Lúc Lắc / Lomo Saltado was definitely the standout. It was beautifully presented, super flavorful, and absolutely delicious! The French Dip Bánh Mì was good, but I felt like it was missing some acidity and freshness. The sandwich only had the meat and cilantro, and dipping it into the soup made the whole dish feel very salty on top of salty. I really think it needed the traditional pickled carrots and radish, cucumber, and jalapeño for that refreshing crunch and acidity to balance everything out. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try this place, and I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu! read more

My first time at The Pig and The Lady was something unforgettable. The service was unforgettably bad. The food came out severely staggered. It took 25-30+ minutes between each consecutive ordered dish. For reference, the first appetizer came out an hour and a half after we were seated, no exaggeration. We kept watching as people seated after us began getting their appetizers/ dishes after we'd already been waiting. Our waiter made no attempt to apologize, nor did she once attempt to explain the kitchen was backed up. Our server mumbled his words and was hard to hear. By the time the final dish came out, only two people in our party had yet to eat. The cherry on top was we got two new servers for the two bowls of pho. One of them left after dropping off one of the bowls, leaving the other. The second server almost spilled the second bowl when setting it down. I'm sure this was a bad night for them in terms of service, but after hearing nothing but good things I can't help but be severely disappointed for my first time dining here. The food was absolutely delicious--you can really taste all of the different ingredients and flavors that go into each dish. The French dip bánh mì was spectacular, especially the broth for dipping. People we know and trust who dined at The Pig & The Lady during their Hawaii trips came back raving about this spot. However, one of my friends went a few years ago and didn't share the same opinion, feeling that it was mediocre at best. Still, we convinced her to give it a second chance, and begrudgingly, she agreed since it was 2 vs 1. Reservations for this restaurant are popular, but we were able to snag a last-minute cancellation. Even at 5:30 PM a couple Fridays ago, this place was fully booked. Our server was quick about getting our orders in, but we did have to wait over 45 minutes for our entrees. PHO 75 - 26 I initially wanted to add a side of stewed oxtail (+12), but our server accidentally left it out while placing our order. I took a sip of the broth and ate some of the noodles with the minced beef patty. I immediately flagged our server down and told her I no longer wanted the oxtail. I just knew that if I spent close to $40 on the most average and mediocre pho, I'd be devastated. The noodles were on the wider and thicker side and had a nice chew, but there wasn't much of them. You'd think that if you're paying $26 for a bowl of pho, they'd at least load it up. Instead, the portion was disappointing. The minced beef was pretty tender, but I didn't love that this was the only cut of meat in the pho. The broth was spiced, but didn't offer much meaty savoriness or anything that justified the price tag. My friends shared the LE FRIED CHICKEN WINGS and SQUID INK LINGUINE. I tried a small bite of the chicken wings and thought they were pretty unimpressive on their own, but the citrusy, lemongrass-forward sauce elevated them, while the pickled radish and carrot added some crunchy acidity. The squid ink linguine was more unique, with a savory sauce and some interesting fusion flavors, but we all agreed that $37 for this dish was simply not worth it. Worst of all, we got hit with the 6% kitchen service charge after an already pricy meal that didn't come close to matching what we paid for. I understand that the restaurant industry is tough, and to be fair, they are transparent about the charge on the menu. But I've yet to see a 6% service charge. 3%, sure, but 6%? That's crazy. We got a chance to tr out Pig and a Lady's new location in Kaimuki. We went in specifically for their two flagship menu items which were the Le Fried Chicken Wings, and the Pho French Dip. The chicken wings were their famous twice fried LFC, makrut leaves, pickled daikon, peanut, money sauce $21. The Pho French dip was 12 hr slow roasted beef brisket, sriracha hoisin, thai basil chimichurri, sautéed bean sprout & onion, cilantro. $25. We added the signature phở broth for dipping, add mini pho noodle $7. Finishing our meal was the Egg Coffee which was an amazing end to the meal. $10. We were SO excited because this restaurant had been on our list, and it was actually our first stop of the trip! Unfortunately, what we didn't realize was that they only serve a limited lunch menu. Had we known, we probably would have gone for dinner instead. We kept reading that the chicken wings were a must, so of course we had to try them. The chicken itself was crispy on the outside and moist inside, but the sauce was very tart and bitter for our taste. We also ordered the bún chả. The crispy egg rolls were definitely the star of the dish! However, the dipping sauce was lack of flavor. The sweet savory taste was not there. It tasted like water down fish sauce. As a Vietnamese person, I'd say the menu leans more toward Vietnamese fusion rather than traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Loud music playing so if you're looking for something more quiet and intimate this might not be the place for you. The reason one star was taken off was because our server wasn't really good. Finally made it to the new location in kaimuki and it was soooo yummy! My boyfriend and I checked it out for lunch and since they have patio seating we were able to bring our dog for the outing too! Service was great- as soon as we sat down they brought us waters and for the pup too! They made sure we always had water and our server checked in within taking a few bites of our food. We got the chicken wings as a starter and I had the Vietnamese iced coffee while he ordered a Bloody Mary. My partner and I waited around 30 min for a table, not bad at all considering it was lunch time on a weekend. We started with the snap pea drink and their version of an espresso martini. The first drink was very refreshing, but we didn't care for the espresso martini. To be fair, we both don't like mezcal and should've substituted it for vodka. Based on other reviews, we started with the fried chicken wings. In my opinion, they were just ok. Early judgement was that the place might be overrated. However, the lomo saltado and the pho French dip were fantastic. Coupled with the relaxed atmosphere, the meal and great service made for a nice experience. Not sure where to begin... I actually came here a few years ago and thought the taste here was mid. My friends told me to give it another chance a couple weeks ago and it was still mid. I got the fried chicken wings both times and they were dry. It was a bit better with the sauce but nothing too impressive. When we looked on social media on where to eat in Honolulu, this place popped up a lot. We ended up coming for dinner then lunch the next day to try both their menus. The dinner was pretty good! My favorite thing was the scallop crudo! Such a great concept with the tangerines & snap peas. I felt like the texture was perfect for that dish with a variety of crunchy components! The wasabi peas gave it the kick that it needed as well & balanced so well with the sweetness of the tangerines! Sadly, everything else was okay. The pasta, although delicious, was quite salty. The oysters were a little too oily and salty as well. For lunch, we got the banh mi & pho. It was also didn't really wow me. I'm still giving this 5 stars because overall it was still a great experience! And I still recommend people try this place because it may just be us that isn't loving the food and not that it isn't amazing! Had this bookmarked for awhile and finally had a chance to come when we saw a same day reservation open up for 5:30 pm. Apparently it's in a new location. It's very quaint and cute. We ordered big eye ahi tataki toast and fried chicken wings as appetizers, and flank steak and pho 75 as entrees. We really enjoyed everything, but the flank steak was a little heavy handed on the tamarind sauce for us. It all started for me at the farmers market then Piggy Smalls (I still miss it), then the refined Chinatown restaurant to now here in Kaimukī. It was my first time at the pig and the lady, I've heard mixed things from people so I was looking forward to making my own opinion. We walked in and were able to snag a dinner table outside, which worked out because it was a beautiful day. All the staff we interacted with was lovely! My meal started off great with the chanh muoi and big eye ahi tataki. However, I was a little bit let down from the entree, while I thought it taste good, I felt like it was lacking a little. The pho was good but I don't think the flavors were balanced well. The chicken was also good but once you eat a couple bites it all kind of becomes one noted and salty. Overall, I had a mostly positive experience at The Pig & The Lady. It's a beautiful restaurant in a calm location with an option for outdoor seating. The service was attentive, thoughtful, and friendly. The menu is creative and we were told changes often. The ahi tataki toast appetizer was delicious. I'm only a bit disappointed with my main course, the pho 75. The pho 75 is their version of pho, and while the broth is uniquely spiced and tasty, everything else about the dish was just a bit off. The portion of noodles is small for a dish that is ultimately a noodle dish. The menu describes the meat as "hand chopped beef" which sounds nice but in practice kind of reminded me of a hamburger patty - and not a very tasty one at that. My husband and I came here to celebrate a wedding anniversary, and we are so glad that we did. My husband and his family came here years prior, when they were in Chinatown, and his parents were not impressed by the restaurant. After talking to them, we realized it was because they expected an authentic Vietnamese, food experience, and I'm here to tell you that if you're looking for authenticity, this is not it. But, if you're looking for a fun Vietnamese fusion experience, then this is for you. We came early for our reservation, and they were able to accommodate us easily. They also had a sweet card wishing us a happy anniversary. We sat at the bar and I'm so glad that we did! We had a wonderful experience in time talking to the bartender who was great in offering a suggestions, talking about the history of the place, and just keeping us entertained. My husband ordered two cocktails (make it snappy, next stop) and I got a nonalcoholic drink (something brush, I can't remember the name). The bartender was nice enough to also give me a small sample of their Vietnamese coffee because I mentioned that it smelled so good. The drinks were wonderful and my husband enjoyed every drop. We ended up ordering the half portion of the Vietnamese wings, the Molokai lamb la lot, elote banh xeo, and the ga roti frites. I totally understand why they recommend the wings to everybody. They were the entire wing fried beautifully, and the fish sauce was more than just your standard fish sauce, sugar chili combo, as it had more aromatic like lemongrass that made it very fragrant and delicious. I really enjoyed the lamb la lot, as it's one of my favorite dishes in general. It was so juicy and rich and full of flavor. The Elote was also so interesting! As a California native, I'm used to eating a lot of Mexican food and Vietnamese food, and I have been to some Mexican Vietnamese fusion places. This Banh xeo was stuffed with corn and cheese, and it was so decadent. I felt like it did a really good job, though my only complaint was that it was a little too faulty. I really was dunking it in fish sauce, and I felt like it could've benefited from maybe like a sweet Vietnamese pickled veggie. Lastly, the ga roti frites was such an interesting take on a dish that my mom makes a lot. I'm used to a slightly thicker sauce, but the chicken itself was so good and you could really taste the five spice. Also dunking the fries in the roti sauce, amazing. We ended with dessert, a laughing cow panna cotta. The Vietnamese know that we love laughing cow cheese lol. I felt like this dessert was such a great combo of a light, but familiar flavor and topped with a really refreshing watermelon ice. If we weren't so full, we would've ordered even more dessert because this tasted so good and we felt so confident that any other dessert we ordered would be just as good. I highly recommend this place as a fun experience and for people to try Viet Vietnamese food, beyond your traditional pho or banh mi shop. Our server was also the bartender that was busy making drinks for the rest of the customers that ordered any mixed drinks. Dined in at 7 pm on a Saturday for a party of two. Made my reservation over a month in advance as it seems hard to get reservations closer to your date. Also celebrated my sisters birthday and noted it on my reservation. Atmosphere was lively and seating was a little tight. One thing I love is the option to add a mini pho on the side. The brisket is incredibly tender, the broth is rich and flavorful, and the sandwich itself is packed with flavor. It's definitely a satisfying meal. The restaurant is clean, bright, and welcoming, with outdoor seating available as well. It gets very busy, though, so I'd recommend making a reservation whether you're coming for lunch or dinner. Service was fine but not particularly memorable, likely because the restaurant was packed during my visit. My only hesitation is the price. The sandwich is $23, and adding the mini pho brings the total to around $30 before tax and tip. While it's a delicious soup-and-sandwich combo, I'm not sure it's something I'd consider a great value for lunch on a regular basis. Sat at the bar and service we received was phenomenal. Our bartender was great to give recommendations, quick to comment on what he thought would be great suggestions and made sure our waters were always full. Super attentive, and a great experience. I would sit at the bar again, because it does give a little more privacy as opposed to sitting on the major tables where you're close to the next party sitting closest to you. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee with their home-brewed recipe was delicious as always, and the Le Chicken Wings are always flavorful and on-point. The desserts were great as well. The Lilikoi Crunch was a little too Lilikoi for my liking but I did enjoy the texture of the crunch along with the mousse. The Sorbet swirl of laughing cow and apricot was delicious. Would definitely want to come back again since they are ALWAYS updating and reinventing their menu. Such an amazing place with great service. You're missing out if you don't go here! read more

OMG, YUM!! This was my second time visiting their new location and they haven't skipped a beat! The atmosphere was energetic and inviting tho, a little loud, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food came out super quick which was great because we were hungryyy! :) The Ti Leaf Salad was very fresh and had lots of delicious textures. The Crab Noodles were sooo good, and they gave us a very generous amount of shredded crab meat. The Chestnut & Mushroom Pâté was interesting. The pâté was sweeter than I expected, and I really wish they served their Bigeye Tataki Toast during lunch because I would've much preferred that dish. The Pho French Dip, GET IT. So good! And for dessert, we ended with the Mango Sticky Rice which was the perfect sweet treat. It tasted just like the real thing, but in soft serve form. Another great experience, I'll definitely be back. Secured a reservation months before my trip. Decided to check this place out of posts and recommendations. Now, my reviews are based on flavour and some of it is preferential with an open mind . The chicken wings were okay. Yes, it was crunchy but I've had other ones that were glazed better with the sauce and the wings here are on the bigger side compared to other places but it wasn't really moist. The sauce was teetering on the sour side. The Banh Xeo was okay too but the lettuce was small and the pickled vegetables again, was more sour. The pupus were actually good with the oyster being the best option for me And the Pho 75 again, was more on the sour note and a bit salty side for the broth. Food here definitely is flavorful! Absolutely delicious, staff is friendly and kind. The restaurant is busy so try and get reservations if possible otherwise you'll be waiting 30 min plus. But I promise it's worth the wait. Highly this beautiful place. read more

First time trying their Kaimuki location! Wait time is still insanely long so they're not any less crowded but parking is much easier and there's outdoor seating now! Service is great too, we sat at the bar and were very well-taken care of by Kevin. He reminds me of Christopher Meloni. This is a true fusion place, and while they do the traditional elements of each dish well, it is not meant to taste at all like anything traditionally Vietnamese. - Ahi tataki: 5/5 favorite item on the menu! Such rich flavors, perfect no notes imo - Banh xeo elote: 5/5 second favorite item! The banh xeo is so excellently crispy and the elote's tartness complements it really well. - Stuffed peppers: 4/5 really great flavors - Washugu flank steak: 4/5 I'm very particular about steak and this cut was excellently rare with a decent sized portion but didn't come with any sides. - Ga roti lemongrass chicken: 4/5 fries are very crispy and chicken is very lean, tender and well-flavored but some parts were tough to eat and the flavors just didn't work as well imo. I was very eager to try The Pig and The Lady on our recent vacation in Hawai'i. It's always interesting to see how chefs put their own creative spin on Vietnamese cuisine. More often than not, I end up disappointed, but here, I was pleasantly surprised.  I tried to make a reservation on OpenTable a little more than a week before our intended date and time, but the app did not show any vacancies. I called the restaurant to ask if we could walk in. They asked me when I wanted to come, and I said March 20th at 8:30pm. "I can make the reservation for you," said the hostess. Oh. Lol. That's nice (but also kinda weird). A prime example of "closed mouths don't get fed." Always ask, people! We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Not sooner, not later. They were very busy so we weren't able to sit sooner even though we arrived early. The inside of the restaurant felt modern and trendy while remaining casual. According to our receipt, our server was Monique. She was very nice, helped us navigate through the menu, and made excellent recommendations. We almost passed on the venison tartare, but at Monique's insistence, we got it. We're so glad we did because it was the best thing we had. The tartare on its own was already delicious. The pears added a light floral sweetness and the rau ram on top gave a nice peppery bite. When paired with the grilled cheese, it was so rich and flavorful. Texturally, it almost felt like pate. This dish was different, but creative and highlighted Vietnamese flavors and ingredients in such a delightful way. My cocktail for the night was the "Ooh, Ah, Oh Wow," which I assume are the remarks they intended me to have when I tasted it. What drew me to this drink was the "fish sauce" in the ingredients list. "Wow," I remarked. Can't get any more Vietnamese than that. So of course, I had to try it. Luckily, the fish sauce ended up being very subtle. The base of this drink was tequila and the leading flavor was tamarind. I assume the fish sauce helped to tone down the sweetness and add a bit of a savory, umami element. To be frank, I thought it was going to be gross, but I actually really enjoyed this cocktail. For our mains, we shared the ga roti, wagyushu frites, and spinach tagliatelle. Out of everything we ordered, I was most excited for the ga roti because I had this dish very often as a child. The meat was very tender and the sauce was just right. However, I was expecting a crispy skin, so when the skin wasn't crispy, I was a little disappointed. The steak and pasta were good. The steak was cooked perfectly, and I liked the sauce. The pasta was yummy. The browned butter with fried herb leaves on top felt very classic and the egg pop moment was perfect. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for dessert as it was getting close to 10pm, and we needed to get our car out of the garage before it closed. I did think that things took quite a bit of time to come out, but I wasn't too mad because everything that came out of the kitchen was delicious.  I had a great time at The Pig and The Lady. I was a little anxious coming in because growing up in California, I've had my fair share of butchered Vietnamese fusion cuisine. But this menu felt like it was created by someone who knows and loves Vietnamese food. Wanted to see what the hype was all about I order food to go and was able to pick up quickly the ambiance is boojiee and elegant nice atmosphere, the food was lacking taste if your looking for authentic Vietnamese food don't go here but if your looking to try outside of the authentic taste with a twist try it before you knock for me the banh mi was lacking that umpphy flavor or your traditional sandwich with the crunch of the pickled daikon and carrots cilantro flavor, the small side of pho wasn't it for me didn't have that beefy flavor too much star anise in the broth, it's a little to Americanize for me just not my cup of tea. read more
