More spots are popping up now that are getting better, so I just come less often now. Not cheap, but not outlandishly expensive. I get the pho tai and we like the pate appetizer too. This has always been my go-to pho place. Maybe it's because I live nearby, but this place has always been consistent with their food, you don't wait long for your order (it's also a small seated restaurant), their prices are inexpensive, and they have pickled garlic on their table- need I say more. Today I decided to order takeout- I don't feel like dining in alone and wanted to just chill in my apartment w/ my dinner. Pro tip- call in your order. Try not to use deliver apps, even if selecting 'pick-up' because their prices (like every other restaurant on delivery apps) tend to cost a dollar or more. Upon calling in my order, the lady said it'll be ready in 5mins. I thought that was a high expectation, but I've dined in before and we also don't wait long for our orders to arrive to our table. I arrived to their restaurant maybe about 7mins after calling and Lo and behold, my order was ready for pickup already Pro tip- ask for their pickled garlic. They'll give you a mega small container for it but I'll take what I can get lol when I dine in, and I eat each bite with their pickled garlic When I got back to my place and started taking out the items, the broth was mega hot and they even packed siracha and hoisin sauce in small containers I wanted to add that I thought they were skimpy on the amount of brisket they gave, but when I started putting them in my bowl, they do give you a decent amount. Pate is a great find. It's right across from Walmart on Keeaumoku in the Samsung Plaza. Lots of parking in the lot, first hour is free now. What makes them unique is the house noodle dish. You can choose your type of noodles, protein, and even the broth style - dry or soup. if you pick the dry style, it still comes with a smaller bowl of broth. And I asked for the pho broth instead because the house broth is shrimpy/fishier than I'd like. I ordered what most people recommended - the roast pork, with egg noodles and won ton, and the broth on the side. So yummy! And the staff are really nice and friendly. Wow looking for some good Pho and we found it at Patè Vietnamese cuisine! The pho is so authentic and the service fantastic! Spring roll is fresh and well rolled and the peanut sauce very good! We'll be back as everyone enjoyed their food. The restaurant is very small so come during non peak hours if they are busy seating limited to 90 minutes! Wow, really great I can't wait to go back! The biggest detractor here is parking, but if you find a spot, they generously validate. I tried the Cha Goi Spring Roll, super crunchy but the filling was fair, not made that day. The Banh Mi was exceedingly fresh and the roll was Incredible! Came here around 7pm on a Saturday and waited around 45mins for a party of 7. They share the parking lot (and the restroom) with a bunch of other restaurants, so it gets busy. The shop itself is small and cramped, only seating around 5-6 groups at a time. They have the menu posted up by the door, and the hostess gives you the option of ordering ahead so your food can be ready by the time you're seated. Love getting their bahn mi and bun bo hue! The bread they use for their bahn mi has a nice warm crust and easy to chew at the same time. One thing they can improve with their bahn mi is to stuff it with more fillings for a more mouthful and flavorful bite. The broth for bun bo hue was flavorful and it's a slightly more on the sweeter side. I love garnishing it with the herbs and veggies. As for the spare ribs rice plate, my family found it a bit too salty and slightly sweet for their liking. But the garlic soup that came on the side was good! This cozy restaurant, located across Walmart Keeaumoku, is worth seeking out if you want good Vietnamese food. The atmosphere is very casual and there's a parking lot right outside the restaurant. There's also street parking along Keeaumoku and the side streets. I had a vermicelli bowl with spring rolls and garlic beef. Everything in the bowl was tasty and fresh. Happy 2026- still on my winter break and enjoying the last days left, time to catch with my foodie friend, we decided upon Vietnamese. I've always wanted to try Pate Vietnamese Cuisine, after seeing all the Yelp photos and Instagram reels. Located at the Samsung Plaza, parking available but it can get busy due to all the businesses in this plaza, parking fee but not too bad with validation. ( I don't remember having to pay for parking but it has been years since I last been here at Samsung Plaza. The restaurant is on the tiny side with about 5-6 tables but very welcoming! I can imagine the crowd and having to wait for a table. We got the last table when I arrived. The only staff working the front, did it all- she is so hardworking and so nice! Looking at the menu booklet, everything looks sounds so good- I wanted to order everything to try, hehe! but that didn't happen, Ended up getting their famous Hu Tieu Mi soup. The combo of roast pork and won ton, with soup broth on the side and a combination Banh Mi Dac Biet. **Hu Tieu Mi is their signature dish and you can also create your own with picking various toppings. This is fun to create but we just went with the combo. I love the spices/condiment tray on the table, especially the fresh chili oil sauce and the fresh pickled garlic! The food comes out and let's eat! The combination banh mi is nicely made and full of toppings. I like the tray of veggies, they don't add this in to the your bowl, I like how it is served separate. The banh mi sandwich was super good & tasty, really enjoyed the banh me! Enjoyed the hu tieu soup, but not a fan of the won ton. The roast pork is nice and crispy! I wish they gave more broth & egg noodles, it came with a small rice bowl size of broth, the soup went so great with the banh mi, not enough broth for the noodles . We both shared the soup/banh mi which was perfect! Overall- we enjoyed our meal. I LOVE Vietnamese food, now I have more Vietnamese spots to choose from, and look forward to visiting again- when it is time for my next banh mi and noodle soup fix! Tucked away on Keeamoku street, this tiny eatery is worth a stop! This was one time where my wife had been without me and was excited to take me....sheesh...what am I? Chopped liver?!? I mean Patê?!? She isnt a big fan of sandwiches but that's what she gets here...lemongrass chicken banh mi, with a fried egg inside. This is a double win for her...as I don't eat fried eggs...so she doesn't have to share! I was able to try the paté appetizer and the rare steak pho...and both were very good. The appetizer was what I was expecting...rich, creamy, and delicious. The pho was also very good. I was pleasantly surprised when the server asked if I preferred the meat on the side or in the bowl...most restaurants don't ask anymore. We saw a few rice plates come out that looked delicious. We will definitely try that on our next visit Definitely come here if you are not in a hurry. This is a very small restaurant with very few tables. Love love love the bun with 2 toppings. My favorite order is the vermicelli with lemongrass chicken and spring rolls. The chicken is delicious, and I always feel like I'm getting an absolute steal with spring rolls included as part of the entree when these days they are often $10+ as a side dish that I can't ever bring myself to splurge on. Their pho is also not bad, with generous portions of meat and veggies. Have only ever done takeout so I can't say much toward service or ambiance, but the food is top notch and reasonably priced. When we got there we were the 2nd customer to get in, they only have 5 tables, not very much, 1 table of 6, 2 tables of 4, and 2 table for 2 of you can squeeze in maybe 3 on 1 table of 2. Service is fast we ordered the 1 choice Pho with tendon and a Special combination sandwich. The sandwich came out it looked nice already cut in half and lots of fresh veggies and portion of filling. The bread was crispy on the outside and nice a chewy on the inside. The 1 choice pho was okay the broth was missing the good beef broth that you get from boiling a long time to get that rich deep flavors, it was light and on the sweet side with lots of black pepper. The tendon was tender and good size and portion and the noodle were different and the gave a good about of noodles. They validate parking and the restrooms are located of the restaurant, shared by all tenants in the complex, as you go out of the restaurant you need a key for the restroom and turn right and as you walk up towards the back it is on the right side, clearly marked restrooms. Fast and friendly service, we ordered our meal to go because Mom and Dad prefer eating at home without crowds. Giving 5 stars because everyone in the family enjoyed our order. Not a single complaint. In fact, there was hardly any conversation for the first ten bites. Only "Mmmmms!" We started with the summer rolls. Conveniently wrapped individually so that the rice wrapper wouldn't dry out or stick to the other rolls. Each roll was generously filled with sliced pork and shrimp, fresh veggies, and tender rice noodles. The take out container also included the perfect peanut dipping sauce. So good all together! At special request, we ordered three batches of their House Dry Noodles. Two of the orders were with egg noodles and the third order had a combination of rice and "glass" noodles. There are quite a few good Vietnamese restaurants I like in Honolulu and I will be adding this one to my list. Pate Vietnamese serves the normal variety of Vietnamese dishes you can find at most places. They have sandwiches, pho, rice dishes and vermicelli. We ordered the crisply spring rolls, the butter garlic beef with rice and the Vietnamese udon to share. All the food was fresh and delicious. It's hard to rank Vietnamese food because there are so many good places. Pate has great food, but so does many other restaurants. I think what sets this restaurant apart and why I like it so much is that the staff is so friendly and nice. Like I want to be friends with them. They're happy and personable and seem to genuinely like their jobs and serving Vietnamese food. So that will keep me coming back. There was a small line when we came on a Saturday night. There are only 6 small tables so it can get full easily but they will take your order ahead of time to speed up the turn over which is nice. I liked all the different condiments, especially the sate sauce. I hope they have fresh orange juice next time I come because they were out when we went. This is the best Vietnamese food I've had in Hawaii. The broth for the Chicken Pho is delicious and comforting. It comes in a huge bowl with noodles, herbs, and soup. No notes, it's excellent. I also love their dried noodles with custom meat and noodle selection which is so tasty. It also comes with a bowl of soup on the side to pair with your dry noodles. It's a broth with a deep rich flavor even though it looks plain and doesn't have much in it, trust me, you will be surprised. I've been ordering takeout from this place for awhile and recently stop by because I was craving for some soup. This spot opens later than most pho places which makes it very convenient after hours. Parking can be a hassle and stalls are very very tight. There is a 30 mins grace period. The space is really small there is no place to really wait and the floors are very slippery. There are maybe 4 tables inside. The spring rolls were skinny a bit overpriced for 3 ($13.50). Can't say I will get them again. Both the pho and vermicelli were good. I'd also highly recommend their house special noodles: you pick your own meat and type of noodle and they mix it with a savory sauce - if you don't know what to pick, ask the staff for their suggestion - they know their stuff here and are always super friendly! The pho was better. The noodle texture was actually very nice and chewy, which is hard to find here, so credit where it is due. The bún bò Huế was not good. The broth tasted overly sweet and more like bún riêu than BBH, which was disappointing if you are craving that spicy savory depth. The standout dish was the hủ tiếu Nam Vang.
