Some of the best pho I've had in the continental US. Seriously rich broth, overall well packaged with tender meats, vegetables, and noodles. Everyone sitting around us was ordering the friend chicken, which we ordered as well, and it is a must-have app. The place would be great for a date or with friends or family.

Came in on a Saturday no reservations sat on bar. Good service and soup came out hot. M Beef was tender and not too Salty . Location was in a good spot andove was because of costs. Liquor was served in a courteous way.

Quick review on this one, since we only had a little time to kill before heading to the movies. My friend had recommended this place because of something he had seen online, and made it point to at least try it out during our vacation. Small wait because we didn't make a reservation, but were sat after about 20 min. I need to point out, the moment we were sat at the bar, the bartender/waitress was the most engaging person. She was so excited to have us there, and so ready to converse about different things, but mainly to help us with our dining choices. I ate a little lighter, and went with the Hamachi Crudo, which was absolutely fresh, physically beautiful, and exploded with an array of flavors. HIGHLY recommend!! We then ordered the Chicken Wings, which according to the bartender, this establishment is known for them. Two, very large wings, crispy skin, succulent meat, with a light sauce that complimented the chicken wonderfully. I can see why they are known for these. Another HIGHLY recommend!

I made sure to have this as my first stop in Hawaii after seeing so many good reviews and hype. I made the reservation 3 weeks in advance. I'm from LA and grew up eating Vietnamese food in the SGV and OC, so my expectation is pretty high. We had the Banh mi dip, pho, fried chicken wings, and a miso bloody mary. The banh mi dip is decent. I wished they added more pickled carrots and radish. The pho was okay as welI can taste the fresh ingredients in the pho and i think they added lime zest in the broth too. Our favorite was the fried chicken wings. The flavors of the miso bloody mary complements the pho really well. The place is casual and service is casual as well. We lost our server in middle of us ordering.. Make sure to check out the restroom on the first floor before leaving, the throne is disco themed.

I took my Mom to eat here one last time before they move to their new location in Kaimuki. finally decided to try them; especially, since they're gonna be moving. I recommend getting their fried chicken wings, grilled oysters with butter sauce, and the kurobuta pork collar. Food is always good, everything was made to perfection. Outstanding service and very fun, lively atmosphere. Looking forward to the Kaimuki location, it's worth the long drive.

The food at the Pig & The Lady was top notch, mostly. The Smashed Cucumber, the Big Eye Tataki Toast, Le Fried Chicken Wings, rice with a fried egg, and the P&L Soft Swerve Swirl were all incredible. Unfortunately, the Viet Style " Gilda" Pintxo, the Burmese Green Tea Papaya salad, and Pho 75 Dac Biet were not. The ambience was busy and lively, and you must check out the bathroom while you are there! The service, however, was awful. When I asked if the tea was caffeinated, her response was, "It's tea", as if non-caffeineted doesn't exists. They brought out a main course with the appetizers, forgot a spoon for the pho until after it was delivered, and in general, our waitress was short and unfriendly. A restaurant with this reputation and higher than average price point should have better service and more consistency in food quality. With all that being said, the wings and soft serve are absolute standouts, and a must of you go!

We snatched a res for lunch at the pig & the lady and had a good time! The vibe inside was cozy and warm. Our host and server were nice and friendly. Parking in chinatown can be hard to find but we were lucky to find street parking near by. The food offerings were creative Vietnamese fusion and best served family style. We got: - Papaya salad 4/5 super light and refreshing and love all the ingredients you wouldn't typically find in papaya salad (aburage tofu and mango) together. although i did enjoy this, i felt like it needed more sourness and missing something pungent. definitely not a typical papaya salad if you are expecting that - Le's fried chicken wings 4.5/5 this was great! viet fish sauce wings vibes - Bo Luc Lac 4/5 this was good but nothing special, i did enjoy the watercress salad - Steak garlic noodles 3.5/5 this was just okay for me but others in my group enjoyed it. Overall, the menu items are very exciting and innovative. I would come back to try other items! 4/5

Got to dine here one last time before their move toward Kaimuki. My bf is vegetarian and it was his birthday dinner so we stuck to a vegetarian menu. I was impressed with all their flavors, as usual. A hidden gem is their side order of cabbage. Delicious and tender on a puréed egg yolk base. We sat at the counter and had a good time watching the kitchen prep appetizers and desserts. Staff were friendly. It was a busy night so our server was a bit slow in getting to us on numerous occasions which is partly the reason for the 4 stars. Hopefully the new venue will allow for better flow and an easier time for staff. Overall we had a great time and a great meal. Thank you!

Worth the hype! Our last meal in Hawaii was at The Pig & The Lady, and it totally lived up to all the buzz. My husband had the French Dip Banh Mi and said it was one of the best beef banh mis he's ever had. He added the pho noodles for the full experience and loved the combo. I ordered the Hunan Fried Rice, which was solid -- but the real standout for me was the side pho. I still can't stop thinking about that broth! Service was kind, the vibe was relaxed, and our server gave great recs (shoutout to Justice). We got there right at opening, and if you don't have a reservation, that's the move.

Was in town for a week and was glad to be able to secure a table for 6 here! This place isn't just hype because good food does accompany it. Love that the menu changes through the seasons and wish I was there now to try what is new. They're downtown location was a bit tough to find parking, but now at their new spot it seems to be a lot better. Definitely recommend also getting a cocktail with your meal as they are very unique and flavorful. Staff is super friendly and fun as well. Definitely keeps the vibes going and going throughout your meal.

Quick experience but 5*. Just sat at the bar for a beverage and dessert. We ate dinner elsewhere. Definitely want to return for the full experience! I had the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and the Dark Chocolate Cremeaux for dessert. Both were excellent. The cremeaux was smooth, loved the dried strawberry compote and other different textures/flavors. The decor was very 5*. Lots of fun decorations. I could tell tell the bathroom was one of their favorite decors: Kurt Russell in Big Trouble In Little China. He has apparently visited too. Huge Chef's Table. Very nice bar. Lots of space. Definitely try to make a reservation. Let me know what you think!?

Final Thoughts: - Previous 2 experiences: 4.82/5 - This experience: 2.35/5 Had this been the last 2 experiences, this place would have gotten a solid 5 star. It's a two star this time...but I genuinely don't think that this is their baseline. Their food and my experience have been amazing before. We came back again after a few years because it was such an amazing experience then that we wanted to have that again. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed this time. Food: Burmese Tea Green Papaya Salad: 3.4/5 The flavor of this dish is very nutty, salty, slightly bitter, and tart. Sweetness is something that I wished this dish had more of. A lot of that sweetness came from the dates, but there's only a few pieces of everything in this dish. Perhaps adding a little more sweetness to it and decreasing some of the tartness would better balance out this dish. Texture wise - amazing. I loved the different components to this dish and they worked well together. They nicely separate the items and then they will mix it for you at the table. Le Fried Chicken Wings: 4.1/5 We've gotten the chicken every time and I believe this dish is still quite good. Hasn't failed us yet. The chicken is hot and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They have this pickle that works really nicely with the rest of the dish. Their fish sauce that comes with the dish is very flavorful and makes the dish for me. It's a thick sauce that has the perfect balance of sweetness, tartness, and umami from the fish sauce. I recommend eating this with rice, even though it may just be an appetizer. Phở 75: 4.3/5 My favorite dish here today. We've gotten this every time that we've come here and it hasn't disappointed yet either. The flavor of the broth has this very nice umami flavor. For the meat, it's super tender. The meat on the bone just kind of falls off and I really enjoyed that. Personal preference for me is the thicker cut of noodles (bánh phở tươi) and this is what they provide. These noodles were just slightly overdone for me. Not too much of a bite, but it wasn't the biggest concern. Summer Vongole Linguine: 3.0/5 One of their newer dishes that we tried. This was the last dish to come out and perhaps they were so pressed for time that this dish was haphazardly pieced together. The pasta was quite underdone and had too much of a bite for me. Clams were good. Sauce was nice. It seemed like a rich sauce, but overall, it felt light. I prefer a thicker sauce though. It seemed very watery. The tomatoes are actually quite sweet, so it gives the dish some of that flavor. Note: 1. They change their menu items from time to time. 2. Highly recommend to make reservations in advance. They allow you to do this weeks/months in advance on their website. --------- Quality: Passable Their quality seems to have decreased from the previous two times. I can't say that everything was amazing. It was passable, but I was just really hoping to get the food and experience that I was previously presented with. Price: Higher end prices This place is quite expensive. By that, I mean it costs more than your average $20 meal. To put this into perspective, the chicken wing were $19. This leans more on the high-end dining experience because the prices range from $20 to $40 depending on what you get. Our total today was $145 for 4 people. Service: Note the wait/sitting time The service really isn't the concern here. It's the wait time. Instead of a consistent flow of people eating and then leaving, it was a room of people sitting there and waiting on their food all at once. We were told that since we were "almost done with the appetizer, that the chef would only then be notified to start preparing our main dish..." Note for us next time is to let them know that we would like all of our food to come out consistently. Sitting time was well over 50 minutes. Or perhaps this was just a way to buy them more time because we were notified about 30 minutes later that the kitchen is backed up. Probably would've been better to start off with that statement because I understand how food service works. Other than that, our waiter was quite nice and checked up on us often. Ambiance: Dim lit and Good vibes here only The place is dimly lit and its quite a cozy area inside. There are a fair amount of tables, but honestly doesn't seem like enough when there's a crowd. A lot of us were just sitting there talking with our respective parties while we collectively waited for the food. Location/Parking: Negative stars This place is located within the Chinatown area. The restaurants here are typically very small because of the limited space and land in general. Parking is available at a cost. There is a parking lot close to there, but you'll have to walk a little bit and you must pay for that parking spot. We opted to uber there this time, but the previous times that we have been there, we paid $20 for parking. Not ideal, but that's the usual here.

The Pig and the Lady is a standout --fun atmosphere, amazing food, and truly thoughtful service. I have some dietary restrictions, and the staff went above and beyond by bringing out a custom menu with allergy-friendly suggestions straight from the chef. We came during the summer menu and everything we tried was excellent: * The highball with candied ginger was bright, zesty, and perfectly balanced * Oysters were super fresh, and the mignonette had a unique chili kick that made them unforgettable * The bao was flavorful and perfectly soft * Pho 75 was incredible--my friend said it was the best pho he's ever had thanks to the rich, layered broth * The chicken leg was juicy, citrusy, and a generous portion * The kanpachi was another highlight--my friend called it the best sashimi he's ever had Would absolutely return again and again. We even got lucky with parking in Chinatown this time, which made the whole experience even smoother. Highly recommend!

    Is there outdoor seating?

    No there isn't!

To dine in, how noisy is the restaurant in the evenings?

Not extremely noisy but definitely not quiet. No problem hearing each other at the table without raising voice.

Can I order items from the lunch menu during dinner?

No, only what's on their dinner menu which is quite different from lunch. However you can order the Pho French Dip at dinner time but only as a to-go order.

When does your reservations open for the following month?

Where can I make reservations to dine in? I tried your reservation icon and it's not working..

You can go through their website (https://thepigandthelady.com/welcome#come-eat) or via Tock.

Is the Bun Bo Hue still being served? Seriously the best dish I've ever eaten!

Yes, but I think it depends on the specials of the day... when I was there, too salty for my taste

Is this place related to PIGGY SMALLS?

    Yes it is!

Do you prefer dinner or lunch menu?

Lunch menu, can't go wrong w pho brisket banh mi , or super awesome pho

Do they serve the french dip bahn me at dinner? I don't see it on the menu and am wondering if I need to go for lunch instead to get it.

No, usually the dinner menu is pretty different. Not sure if they can make it for you, but I know that Piggy Smalls definitely does.

    Is it BYOB?

No they have a full bar

Pet friendly? I have small service animal in stroller

I don't think so. The place is small but u may want to call.

    Where do you park?

Street parking or behind the restaurant, in the same block, there's a parking garage.

I'll be dining by myself. Is the pig head too much food for one person?

You can order 1 app and 1 entree and it'll be perfect.

Do they have bar seating for walk ins?

There is bar seating for walk ins. However, I have never seen an empty seat

What should me and my date wear? Is it super fancy or casual?

Super casual. Don’t worry about dressing up...worry about finding parking

What do you have on the menu that's gluten free other than salads? My wife has a gluten allergy and it can't be cross contaminated. Thank you for your time.

the pho is phenomenal, the fish is fabulous. Everything I've ever had was great. You should not have a problem with finding gluten-free options. One of my favorite restaurants in Honolulu.

Do the ? & the lady do some kind of show?

No ... it's just a restaurant. The pig is one of the owners/chef and the lady his his mother. It's been on a lot of travel & food shows though!

Upon stepping foot in Phở Quê Hương, I was transported back to Vietnam (or Orange County, California-- have your pick). Phở Quê Hương is located in Honolulu's Chinatown, so we get an interesting demographic mix of diners. (I believe I observed at least one Hoa family order in Vietnamese and then converse in a Chinese language.) I wasn't so attentive to the precise linguistic profiles of my fellow diners because of how distracted I was by the food. However, it is a salient pattern I am observing in Honolulu: seeing many non-Viet people coming to eat Viet food. I know Vietnamese cuisine has become more globally mainstream, but I suppose I am so used to existing in Vietnamese ethnic enclaves. The menu offers a great selection of Vietnamese food, including dishes I had never had before. The bún chả Đà Nẵng is not at all similar to a bún chả Hà Nội, so don't get them mixed up! Bún chả Đà Nẵng was more like a bún riêu without the riêu: a nice tomato soup with a serious umami flavor going on. (I was getting notes of cheese even, in a really good way.) My first time having a non-vegetarian bò lá lốt was here. It was tasty, although I was getting a spicy note that I wasn't sure where it was coming from. The tràng đặc biệt was delicious and familiar. I always love wrapping things (amateurishly) with rice paper. The name "Phở Quê Hương" is apt, but it isn't just phở but rather all the dishes that feel like they arrived straight from Vietnam. If you are interested in more traditional Vietnamese fare, give this place a try.

Saigon is probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant on the island. We have been coming here for…read moreover ten years. It is family owned; I think the husband and wife team works the front. The service is consistently very friendly with a smile and efficient. The restaurant is small, but very clean and neat. They even serve this filtered water from a fancy machine; there is a poster of an ad of the machine. The food is authentic and super delicious; the pho broth is the best that I have tasted, very clean and no msg (at least I can't tell). We have tried a lot of the menu items throughout the years; our favorites are: - combination pho - rare steak and meatballs pho - oxtails soup/pho - grilled pork chop rice - crispy spring rolls - summer rolls - beef salad (my wife's favorite, she orders it every time) - roasted pork and lemon grass chicken banh mi sandwiches - roasted pork and spring roll vermicelli bowl - the special combo wrap (very tasty but you have to wrap it yourself; some may think it is fun, but I am lazy and prefer to have it made and ready to eat) The prices are very reasonable, they haven't raised the prices much even when the food cost keeps going up. I believe they have some deserts, but we have never tried any, because their portion sizes are generous and we're usually too full to think about deserts. Park is s street parking, but we usually park in the municipal lot across the street. The rate is very reasonable, a couple dollars for a couple of hours. It is credit card only; there is no parking attendant, you pay using the paid machines in the middle of the lot or at the gates. I hope you will give Saigon a try, I think you will love it too.

Delicious viet food in Ward area. Clean with minimal decor and friendly staff…read more IG and Yelp pics recommended the Canoe Bone Marrow so we made sure to order that. It was very good but you need to order a baguette on the side to eat it with. They were out of banh beo but we got the bahn xeo which was really good. I recommend the shaken beef salad too. Beef was flavorful and tender. Crispy spring rolls and pork banh mi were good too

When we arrived, we were the first guests so got to pick our table. When we sat down at the pretty wooden booth, there was a happy hour menu on the table. What?!? And YAY!! There was a 2-for special on the cocktails and you could select from the full menu which featured an extravagant and eclectic selection. There were wine and beer specials too but we were here for the cocktails. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, chicken wings, and the Bo Ne Steak--a Vietnamese breakfast with bone marrow, cubed steak, sunny side eggs and a baguette. I can vouch for the spring rolls, light and crunchy without being oily. I don't eat land animals but my friend said the wings were divine. And they give you gloves to eat them. So civilized (ha) and a nice touch! She loved the bone marrow and steak. There was so much food she didn't finish it so I took it home to the hubby who devoured it. No complaints and only smiles from him! I wanted to try a couple pescatarian dishes from the regular menu so ordered the lemongrass clams which was AH-mazing! Could have been my favorite dish of the night because the flavors were unexpected but undeniably good. And, the garlic salmon bun (vermicelli noodles) was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was savory yet light. I've never seen this option at any other Vietnamese restaurant and it certainly elevates the traditional dish which usually comes with meat, tofu, or spring rolls. (You can still order the bun with these options and they let you choose your protein combos.) Finally, (I told you there was a lot of food) we ordered the banana blossom salad. I rarely see this offering at other Vietnamese restaurants. It's hard to describe but I refer to this dish as the red-carpet version of the green papaya salad. It's more dressed up and sophisticated. A real treat and a must-have if you're dining at An Di Dzo. Parking was easy since it's at Ward (by the theaters or you can park anywhere in the village). The restaurant is clean and modern. And the service was courteous and professional. Our server Alex was great and made the evening extra special. An Di Dzo is open for lunch and dinner. They also offer some vegan options so I'll be back. Hubby enjoyed the leftovers so much he wants to give it a dine-in try. You don't have to ask me twice! Highly recommend you give them a try, too.

Chinatown has a lot of crime and homeless in the area so I would firstly recommend to go when the market is busy! 7am-12pm is a sweet spot where the food, produce and everything in the area comes alive. I'm Vietnamese and it was a very affirming and comforting experience for me when so many other Vietnamese folks came first thing in the morning to get their grub at Thuong An Lac. That's when you know you've found THE spot. Major Recommendations: -Viet Iced Coffee (prob the best you'll find on island easily) -Beef Stew + Baguette (so HEARTY. I've had both vegan and non vegan beef stews and it's spot on) We loved everything we got there. The water they serve you has pandan in it and tastes very very good. I still think about it!! There's so much love squeezed into everything they have there. They also sell a lot of snacks that they make and it's honestly FIRE as well. A lot of customers came in for the snacks too. Parking: There's a lot of nearby parking ranging from $2-6. A lot of people opt for the Chinatown municipal parking. It'll be a bit of a walk so plan accordingly. The restaurant is small and can only have a few parties in at a time. It's no frills but feels like you're just visiting your Aunt or Grandma's house. Prices are fair, not overpriced. Fun fact, they're TOP 100 vegan restaurants in the US. You're in for a treat. Please note: they only take cash tips! Consider this if you go :)

It's tucked away in the entrance of Chinatown Market, making it a true hidden gem. My favorite is the "beef" noodle soup. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful--you'd never guess it's completely vegan. I also highly recommend the taro spring rolls, which are crispy, delicious, and the perfect appetizer. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so it may not be able to accommodate larger groups. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. As someone who loves noodle soup, I appreciate being able to enjoy such a satisfying meal while knowing it's entirely plant-based. I'll definitely be back!

You already know the beef was good or it wouldn't get a good review from me. Got the spring rolls which was nice and hot. Wrapped the spring roll, noodles and the carrot & daikon with the lettuce and dipped it into the sauce. Winnahs. For the main entrees got the crispy fried noodles with seafood. It's like the Vietnamese version of Chinese seafood with cake noodles. Very crunchy and tasty. Lots of seafood. The other entree was the combo sizling plate. Yes, the plate was sizling. The plate had pate, sausage, meatball, beef and a fried egg. I've never tasted anything like that before. It's not the usual taste that you're accustomed to but i enjoyed it. I thought it was good. Both entrees and the salad are good serving size. I like the spring rolls and wish had more but that's just me. The service is excellent even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized for being late but it was quite understandable. He's so polite. The lady who might be the owner was very pleasant and personable. It was a very good experience. The only thing that might be a slight problem like any other restaurant on Kapahulu is parking.

When I placed my order, I told the woman, "no cilantro" on anything. When I received my order, the soup was missing. When the woman brought the soup, I said again, "no cilantro." She said, yes. I paid and left. When I got home, I opened the salad and noticed a pile of basil and what appeared to be cilantro. It tasted like cilantro, too. So, I went back to the restaurant to return my order, as I no longer wanted any of it. When I got there, the woman told me that isn't cilantro, it's "culantro." She said she would refund my salad, but not the sandwich and proceeded to argue with me that she was doing me a favor because the salad did not have cilantro, even though she very well knows they taste the same. In any case, I left my entire order and was only refunded for the salad. I will dispute with my cc company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

In this crazy rainy weather, we wanted something warm and hearty. We got here at 5 pm on a Thursday and got a table. We ordered rare beef pho, chicken pho, and their crispy noodle dish with chicken. My beef pho had a nice strong spice taste. I added hoisin and sriracha to my broth for a nice addition. The crispy noodle dish reminded me of cake noodles the way the chicken and vegetables were in a thick gravy. Service was easy and quick. They got our orders in quickly, brought the food out quickly, and got us on our way without being overly pushy. Parking is easy, plentiful, and convenient in Manoa Marketplace. Pho viet is located on the second floor and there are stairs as well as an elevator to get up. I like eating here when I don't want to go downtown and deal with lots of people.
