    Half-empty cone...
    Katie H.

Pretty poor experience here, unfortunately. There was a long line and it's cash only, but we were prepared for that. What we were not prepared for was the rude staff, small portions, and high prices. $11 for two small scoops was a bit much - especially since the cone was basically half empty! I would definitely suggest getting dessert somewhere else in town.

Quick selection of blue moon, superman and sandwiches.

It seems that the cleanliness and service is not what I remember and still an adventure for little ones to take an evening walk and wait in line for ice cream.

So here's the inside scoop: The Pine Cone is a small, local ice cream shop located in Glen Arbor. They have a lot of wonderful and classic Michigan favorites, like Moose Tracks and Mackinac Island Fudge. The variety of flavors to choose from allows each customer to be satisfied. If you have read the other reviews, you might find a common theme about the customer service and their strict policy of closing right at 10 pm. This is true! My family and I have been coming here for over 15 years each year, and we have encountered this problem several times. My advice: get there earlier in the evening so that you can avoid any conflict. When they say that they close at 10pm, they really mean it!

Small scoops. Not worth it one bit. If you are going to charge $6.50 for a single cone you can't have WEAK SCOOPS

Portions are tiny and horribly overpriced. Staffed by a couple teens. Service was extremely slow after ordering.

Hearing profanity from the literal kids (grade schoolers) behind the counter while I was there with my little kids earned this review.

We got the Il Porco pizza which had Italian sausage and sweet onion on it. We opted to get the Roman crust and it was very flavorful! The downside was it was a long wait to get our food. Like crazy long. We also did not know if we would be served our pizza or if we would have to pick it up inside- it was a bit confusing. We would definitely eat here again as the taste of the pizza and spot along the river was worth the long wait.

It tasted pretty good and the toppings were baked under the cheese. I ordered a water, which was about $3 and in a bottle - not what I expected, but I guess it is very fancy imported water from Italy. They also offered drinks like Olipop and kombucha which might be a little more worth the money. The girl taking our order didn't go out of her way to be friendly but it wasn't a bad experience or anything. I don't believe there was much of a wait before our order, but the pizza was predicted to take 20 minutes to make. The inside is pretty crowded but the picnic tables were cute to sit in. I do think the hours are a little strange, definitely not for early dinner eaters. Overall, it was a cute outdoor dining experience and they did consider gf and vegan pretty well!

I will say the food was fine. Zucchini fries were 10 out of 10. Out burger was pretty rare...like borderline should we eat this. Disclaimer...we placed our order but had to ask them to put them in takeout containers because we were shorter on time than expected. "The Guy" got argumentative with my friend I was with over our seating timing and order timing and the need for us to leave. Again, his people skills on wild display. Glad we left...the live music was warming up and we were seated right by a speaker so...I can imagine it would have gotten loud. Not a lot of food choices in town so, I am sure "the Guy" knows that and can get away with his crass approach to his guests. I prolly won't be back in the area and if I did, I would probably go somewhere else. His food and prices weren't that good.

Must read before going here…read more Tonight, I personally overheard the owner turn away a family because the dad asked if the USA World Cup soccer game would be on. His response was, verbatim: "If you owned a business, you would understand we are trying to turn tables." The place was half empty. Instead of simply saying they couldn't put the game on or that they needed the table, he escalated the situation and verbally attacked the dad in front of his kids, even calling him an "a-hole" for asking to watch the USA play in the World Cup at a bar and grill. That tells you everything you need to know about how this place treats customers. Rude, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. There are plenty of better options in Glen Arbor. Go to Art's instead -- better food, better atmosphere, and they actually seem to appreciate the people spending money in their place.

Lots of high end spirits and wine. Many small batch jars of sauces, condiments, jams, etc. Boars Head meets sliced for you. Nice salmon and Tuna. Plus the regular groceries that everyone needs. They even have a single barrel whisky that the staff selects and has bottled just for them. It's better than expected for the price. Staff was super helpful and polite. Get there early (8ish), the deli person said they sell out. Would love to see this store have a little more in pre packaged foods-to-go. That seems to be a general need. Even pre-made burgers or plain chicken breasts for dogs would have been amazing for people traveling with pets. I only gave 4 stars because I went to the deli last night at dinner time and food looked dry and not great, so I had to order takeout.
