This was the perfect stop for a quick ice cream run after dinner with friends. As a vegan, it can be surprisingly difficult to find dessert spots -- let alone truly good vegan ice cream -- but this place completely exceeded expectations. They offer an entirely separate vegan menu with multiple flavors to choose from, which was so appreciated. I sampled the chocolate vegan ice cream and it was absolutely incredible -- rich, creamy, and full of flavor. It genuinely tasted like premium ice cream, not just a substitute. If you're vegan and visiting the Traverse City area, this is definitely a must-stop dessert spot! read more

Delicious dessert spot right on front street! Think of this like a cold stone where they mix different toppings and fixings into your ice cream. Few seats outside the store front, and this sweet treat hit the spot. They have many different flavor combinations - we decided to get the sleeping bear one which had blueberries, raspberries, and cheesecake. Whenever I'm in town you will find me here. I've never been this late in the season so there were some new flavors. I'm a yooper guy but I switched it up and went with the butter pecan and housemade pumpkin syrup. What a combo and I could have drank a tub of that pumpkin syrup. So good! Cute ice cream shop off of Front Street in downtown Traverse city, Michigan. Many great vegan lactose free options with plenty of fun mix ins! Indoor seating available but on a sunny day grab your ice cream walk along the shores of Lake Michigan or window shop downtown. Not cheap as a medium bowl was $9 but it was delicious and they give you a good sized portion. Go get some ice cream and enjoy the views of beautiful Lake Michigan! read more

Milk & Honey gets four stars from a vegan ice cream standpoint. The texture was the highlight--it was so soft, which I so enjoyed. I went the mix-in route and ordered the Mumbai Curry: Mumbai spice ice cream with peanut butter and maple syrup. This appeared to be the most out-of-the-box flavor in the shop, and while I'm glad I tried it, it was an ice cream + mix-in that had to grow on me...and perhaps it needed some peanuts for texture? If I was to return, I'd try one of the milk-based ice creams. Knowing how wonderful the texture is, Milk & Honey deserves another shot. read more

I have to say... M&H has the best ice cream I have had in a looooong time. It's right next to Moomers and if you opt to go there instead, you've made a mistake. Milk and Honey's ice cream blew me away. So much so we bought a cake, then went back the next day and got 4 quarts to take home. The employees were so kind and asked if we wanted to get our to-go ice cream flash frozen in one of their freezers so it could stay colder in our Yeti for the 4 hour drive home. It worked! Got home and the ice cream was just starting to soften. I CANNOT wait to go back later this summer to come here. 100% recommend. read more

Milk and Honey is a charming ice cream parlor with great vibes and a very friendly staff. The mix ins make for a fun and unique experience. The ice cream, however was pretty average since most of the flavors were far too subtle. They tasted good, but I wanted more of it. Milk & Honey was absolutely phenomenal. Everything is organic, non-GMO, and full of the good stuff you want when you're trying to eat a little cleaner, even when it comes to dessert. I believe the ingredients are sourced locally too, which just adds to the quality. I had the sweet cream and birthday cake flavors and they were honestly some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. There was a bit of a wait, about 10 to 15 minutes, but totally worth it. 10 out of 10 recommend if you're in the area and craving something sweet and clean. The sign says Worlds Best Caramel Latte, and they aren't wrong. I ordered mine and got back to my car and my husband, who didn't want a coffee, took a few sips then promptly sent me back for another one for him. Super cute shop and The owners were incredibly kind and personable. Wish we were staying in town longer I would have loved to try their ice cream. I bet it's amazing as well. read more

Recently came here to try some vegan flavors with my wife that were advertised . This place was pretty enjoyable, staff here is very friendly and I love how the ice cream and the store was presented. Store felt warm and inviting and feature some great ice cream as well. Prices were fair, and the seating was pretty cozy too as you see people stroll past the Main Street. The young ladies working there were great, friendly, and very helpful. They displayed great customer service. The ice cream was good but not the best I have had. I am rating this low because of the appalling behavior I heard from the manager to his employees. He was extremely condescending and passive to his employees and I was shocked he felt comfortable enough to speak to them like that in front of me. So what if your employees suggest a cup instead of a cone ? Talk about it at an employee meeting before or after the shift! He was totally unprofessional and turned me off from wanting to return again. An older man should not be speaking to young ladies like that, ever! read more

To find an ice cream shop that offers more than one dairy free flavor AND is actually creamy and delicious isn't an easy task. Having so many fun and tasty vegan choices made this shop stand out and became destination for our evening. The store was clean and despite being in a tourist town, the staff was extremely friendly. I appreciated they were also knowledgeable about the ingredients and the flavors were clearly marked. I tried the vegan Tooty fruity and he had the regular Michigan Mocha, both were great! Portions were good for the price and there was a good variety of flavors for whatever your mood. Note if you go: the waffle bowls and cones are not vegan but the flavors were satisfying enough so I didn't feel like I was missing out. We took ours and enjoyed while walking through downtown and I would gladly return on our next visit up north. read more

Easily some of the best vegan ice cream I've had. I always try to stop here when I'm in Traverse. It can get busy, but they move the line pretty fast. They only have a few tables, so if it's busy plan to take it to go. The vegan chunky monkey is my fav, but they have a lot of fun flavors. read more

I ordered the Belgium chocolate gelato. Mercy, so rich and decadent! My husband got the toasted coconut ice cream, thinking it would be a nice pairing with my gelato and that we could share. It made for a great union, but I really wanted that chocolate gelato all to myself! Check out the innovative house mixes prepared on a cold slab. Please support this family-owned business! read more

This is like a local and more homemade version of Cold Stone, which is great! This location actually used to be a Cold Stone. This local operation fits in better with the Downtown storefronts promoting small business. The unique flavors like lavender honey and are nice too. Great options and friendly staff! My sister lives here and comes weekly. I got the birthday cake remastered and the homemade fudge and brownie were delish! I was just hoping the cake batter ice cream would taste more like cake batter. I will come again and try something else! read more

The ice cream was delicious! Very creamy and tasty. There's a variety of flavors to pick from that are classic flavors or more unique, including Honey Lavender, Orange Creamsicle, Cake Batter (with brownie), Cherry and more. There's also quite a few vegan ice cream options. In addition they have shakes, food, and coffee/tea. They were busy when we walked in, but we were asked for our order very quickly. The line moved fast. The spoons they have are wooden, FYI. And there is minimal seating inside and outside. But big enough to stand around inside or outside too. Would def recommend! read more

We come to Traverse quite often. Stopped to Milk and Honey once awhile back and the girls working the counter except for one were all so rude. Thought maybe it was just the day or me being to sensitive. But last night we brought our three grandchildren and again the girls were so rude. Almost like it was a pain they were there working and we were there. Sorry not worth the 60 bucks for ice cream to deal with unkind young ladies. Hope all is better for you!! read more

I love coming here! My favorite coffee shop and ice cream spot in Traverse City! Excellent service and very friendly, helpful employees. I love their milk and honey latte. Perfect balance of the sweetness of the honey and the taste of coffee. I also love their lavender honey ice cream. Their ice cream is amazing and they make it all there, and even have vegan options. They also offer sandwiches and salads. Everything is natural and organic. Indoor and outdoor seating, and a public restroom. Decided to try this place instead of moomers which i have visited in the past. I love the location of the place- right near some of the best restaurants downtown traverse city has to offer! I also appreciate how they let you sample flavors and there are so many creative concoctions plus vegan options. I ended up getting the lavender ice cream with topped nuts and it was so delicious. It's a pet peeve of mine when the nuts are too cold but it's as if they toaster them somewhere or had them warmed then put them on top! I'm wary of lavender ice cream as some places go over board with the flavor but this was delicious / well balanced with the other flavors. This is a must try place in TC! read more

I got the cherries jubilee & my husband got the cinco de Mayo (he never orders ice cream for himself, and always wants to share) but wow did he pick an amazing flavor! I loved his so much that we literally went there everyday of our vacation! 4 times!! Highly recommend the cinco de Mayo! Established in 2014.

Milk & Honey Cafe and Ice Creamery was formerly a Coldstone Creamery from March 2005-February 2014. Longtime manager Joe Welsh bought the business assets when the franchise contract with Coldstone expired and launched the Milk & Honey in March 2014. Joe has a passion for serving food that is what he calls "actually food," that is foods that are farmed naturally, organically and sustainably without the use of pesticides, GMO's, hormones, antibiotics and other chemical processes. Quite often we hear the words "This is the best ice cream I've ever had," which is a testament to some of the incredible agriculture here in the north and west end of Michigan........

Meet the Business Owner: Elise W.

Elise got her start in the business at a Starbucks just outside Ann Arbor. From there she went on to work for several years at the famous Zingerman's Deli in Ann Arbor. Elise has an amazing passion for making incredible coffee, hence Milk & Honey's claim to serving the "Worlds Greatest Caramel Latte" and other amazing brews on the menu here. She also loves to make soup broth from scratch using only the finest local organic ingredients we can get our hands on and is a cake maker extraordinaire.

I hate walnuts and I hate nuts in my bread! I wish they had warned me or had a sign about it. We got the 3 little cinnamon rolls and they were good but Omlette Shoppe has the best cinnamon rolls.

Lastly for dessert I got their Lava Cake ($7), it was fine, but disappointing after such a great meal. I don't know if it was from frozen or what. However the texture was a little off andvthe taste was only okay. I wouldn't get it again. The service was very friendly and super helpful. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Since I have to round, I'm going to forgive the dessert and give a full 5 stars. Would I return? Absolutely. Especially if I'm craving Pot Roast.
