Sizzling Scallops and Beef
Rhaeven O.

Golden Palace is one of the few Asian restaurants in Battle Ground. It's pretty good but pretty bland too which might best suite the American palate. As an Asian myself, I appreciate the cuisine. The setting is very clean with a staff so welcoming and accommodating. However, customer service shouldn't overshadow the actual product of a restaurant which is its food. I think the menu selections could be updated but it's just like any other Chinese restaurant in town. I rate it a 4/5 because the people are nice.

Chicken Chow Mein and Fried shrimp. My husband helped himself to Chow Mein before I snapped the picture.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. I ordered the lunch combination of Chicken Subgum Chow Mein and Fried Shrimp. My husband had BBQ Pork and Fried Shrimp. The lunch came with soup and we chose egg drop. The soup was flavorful. My meal was delicious, the chicken was tender and moist and the vegetables were fresh. We both enjoyed our shrimp and my husband said the pork was flavorful. Service was excellent. Highly recommend stopping for a delicious meal.

Sesamie beef..not sure of the spelling. Smells amazing and tastes even better

Not the best I've had, but the best in Battle Ground that I've found.a plus is generous portions.

Most other Chinese/teriyaki places that you go to that offer this many choices, you expect sub par, bland tasting food. But not Rising Sun Teriyaki! OMG! The food was fresh and tasty. We started out with the Egg Drop Soup. Oh man. It was hot and fresh. It was not over salted or too spicy. It was just right. And they made it fresh just for our table. Our kids then had potstickers Andover son combined it with chicken teriyaki. Let's first say that the potstickers were the best we had ever had. The owner said that the grandmother was in back making them. (My wife snuck a peek in the back and sure enough there she was making them). Our daughter mentioned that as long as the grandmother is back there making the potstickers, she will order them every time

There was only one patron there who was just about to leave. She was having a conversation with the owner who is a nice Asian man. I got the large egg flour soup and the teriyaki chicken yakisoba noodles to do. $22.00 total. I got home and the food looked delicious. As I got into scarfing down the noodles I notice a stale taste and it was the chicken. It's like they had a piece of chicken already cooked from days ago, there it on the grill or microwave to warm it up, cut it up and put it on top of the noodles. I did like the broccoli and cabbage they put in the yakisoba noodles but the sliced carrots seem to be stale too. I tried the egg drop soup and it had a funky taste like a fishy flavor to it. Maybe it was a bad day or maybe this is how they serve their food thete. Not too sure if this would be my first choice for lunch or not.

The flavors of the food across the board are so much stronger and complex than literally all other Chinese food restaurants I've ever patronized. Their operating model, though, is confusing. They have a lot of "ready now" entrees pre-made for immediate service (think "Panda Express"), and several others that are made-to-order. The "made to order" seems to be the better choice, as what's in the "ready to go" section may well have been sitting around long enough to get soggy. I know this from firsthand experience when some of my General Tso's chicken was the last of what was premade, and the rest was fresh. Not surprisingly, the fresh portion was hot and crispy (and DELICIOUS), and the portion from the premade batch was soggy and lukewarm. There are two chairs in the interior for patrons, so be prepared to stand while your order is filled. Parking is easy as Mar's is attached to a unique and charming Country store with its own parking lot.

I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, with steamed rice and an Eggroll. Also Hot and Sour soup. Soup was delivered quickly... and it was good. Nice egg flowers, black fungus and tofu... flavor was adequate. Not spicy though. They soon brought out my main course, and there was a HUGE portion of General Tso's Chicken. Very crispy crust, and tender chicken. Sauce was ok.. again, not spicy. Eggroll was really large, and tasty. Rice was nicely cooked and didn't taste like it had set in a steamer for hours. Great service... good food. Whats not to like? Far better than the last place I tried.

Enjoyed our dinner at Taste of China…read more We ordered won ton soup, Mongolian beef, brown rice, and garden vegetable mix. I'm allergic to shrimp, so the server gave us extra BBQ pork slices in our won ton soup. The soup was delicious. We appreciate that the soup base wasn't salty. The won tons were cooked perfectly. The soup had vegetables as well. The Mongolian beef was tasty, and went well with the brown rice we ordered. The garden vegetables were slightly overcooked, but plentiful. I loved the light sauce because it didn't overpower the crisp-tender vegetables. We also ordered hot green tea. We appreciated that they offer free refills. The quantity served was greater than expected. Enough for a second dinner at home tomorrow. This will be our go-to place locally for Chinese food. Service was excellent. Plus, they gave my husband a military discount (he's a U.S. Air Force veteran). The restaurant was busy. Not too loud. My husband and I were still able to carry on a conversation. I highly recommend Taste of China for those looking for reasonable prices, a nice selection of Chinese dishes, wonderful service, and good food. It's across the street from Costco, on the same side of the road as Home Depot. We will definitely be back.
