Stopped by this dirty rather seedy looking strip mall in Orchards for purportedly good teriyaki. The rep is well deserved. I ordered at the restaurant since their online ordering wasn't working. These guys really crank out the food during their considerable lunch rush. They completed my two white chicken meat bento in less than ten minutes. I was able to get home in time for my honey to eat lunch before a doctor appointment. The chicken has this perfect char on it. We didn't even use the included sauce. Just perfect with the white rice and corn side. It was so good we're going back this weekend for more! Prices are about the going rate for lunch in 2026. $38 for two kahuna sized bento. It was enough to keep me going all day. Best teriyaki we've found so far in Vancouver and we've tried more than a few. This one wins for ticking the boxes on portion, price and quality. We decided to stop here on our way to dinosaur park (Nikkei Park). So happy we did! Having been born and raised in Hawaii, we miss a good plate lunch. First time at Hula Boy in Vancouver. Nice place, the decor puts you in that beach feeling, they were busy, tables quickly cleaned for more guests. The take out was a revolving door, non stop. A good sign for good food. I ordered the Moco Loco and my friend ordered the Hula Boy Burger. She said, it was her favorite and it was. I opt to give a 3 Star for this visit, because although my dish looked amazing and ample, the gravy and hamburger Pattie was burnt. Bummer!! Always great service and amazing taste! This is my favorite meal and I get it every time we travel back to Vancouver! Nobody does it like Hula boy! I think its a large portion of food for what you are paying. The inside is very cute and service was okay, took them a bit to acknowledge me but they were extremely busy. The mac salad needed salt or maybe extra mayo. The plate itself was delicious but needed a few things of Teriyaki sauce. Number 18 combo plate with mushrooms and onions added. Still pretty good considering. I used to love this place and havent been here in years. My honey ordered us a Half chicken half beef bowl. The quality of meat was okay but the order was wrong. We got all beef. Also, we asked for sauce on the side and the worker proceed to ring up 5 sauces at .75 cents each. Of course after noticing the price jump he asked were you going to tell me it was extra for sauce on the side? This has been my best friend's favorite spot to eat ever since they moved to Vancouver, so naturally, when I came to visit, we had to check it out... and I'm happy to say they weren't wrong! I went with the teriyaki chicken, which was really flavorful and cooked just right. I also decided to try one of the burgers with pineapple because it sounded unique, and I'm glad I did as it was surprisingly good. A bit heavy on the onions for my taste, but overall it hit the spot. Came in and sat down, our server came over immediately and helped answer any questions we had. The food came out super fast it was hot and delicious. The only complaint I had was there were small pieces of burnt charcoal throughout and were very crunchy. They have some amazing sauces on the table the Jamaican jerk is my favorite! This is my husband's favorite spot for Hawaiian food in Vancouver. It's been awhile since we've stopped in and he wanted to come in for lunch after running errands over the weekend. We were greeted and seated right away. The waiter brought us menus and came back with waters for us while we looked over the menu. I usually always get either the Portuguese sausage and spam plate or the kahlua pig but decided on kalbi ribs and coconut shrimp this time. Ribs were good and flavorful. Coconut shrimp was okay. Their Jamaican jerk sauce is also a fave of ours. Portions and prices are decent for most of their plates. The restaurant was clean and staff was nice. I ordered the teriyaki yakisoba noodles today. Cost me $17.09 for chicken and noodles. I do not know how they call it yakisoba noodles as there is not one vegetable in the noodles. Just nothing but chicken and kind of bland noodles. Most places like ichi teriyaki at least add carrots, celery and broccoli, etc to their yakisoba noodles. I always like this place but after I get my food and then realized how I paid for it I think it's not worth it. Maybe it's just me. The place was pretty busy when I went there around lunch time. I've ordered here many times, but I would not suggest ordering to go close to closing. They must have run out of meat as they filled the entire to go box with rice and then added a little meat on top. It was extremely disappointing. No use complaining to the restaurant as they have a sign posted on the register that they only allow same day remakes of an order. While by the time I got home, the restaurant was closed. It may be a while before I go back and I'll definitely check the to go order before leaving the parking lot. read more

This was our first time trying out hula boy. Pretty easy to find right off fourth plain. When I walked in, it's a fairly small operation limited in person dining. They were a number of tables. People seem to be enjoying them self there. I pre-ordered the food for pick up and it was ready within 15 minutes and it actually took me 20 minutes to get there. so the environment had a really nice casual feel. We ordered two combination plates that included beef chicken and they are Korean BBQ ribs. It also included pickled cucumber slices, white rice and macaroni salad. The cucumber slices were tangy but went well with the meal. The macaroni salad I would say was typical. It taste the same in Hawaii. All the meat was flavorful. The Korean ribs were tasty by over cooked and tough to chew. Overall this is a nice establishment. Considering there are t a lot of options in the Vancouver area we'll be back. read more

Such a wonderful surprise in finding Hula Boy Charbroil! Fantastic food, and great service. Loved the variety on the menu along with classic Hawaiian favorites. The char was absolutely perfect on the chicken and beef with excellent seasoning to complement the shrimp. We had sides of Mac salad, corn and pickled vegetables, along with steamed rice, not a bad choice in the bunch. Highly recommend and look forward to being a Hula Boy regular. Sort of a bad picture so I apologize but what we have here is a combination bento with kimchi this has half white rice with the other half yakisoba noodles. The yakisoba noodles lacked a little flavor, which wasn't too bad. I think if I ever go again, I will just stick with the white rice overall it did come with a small side of teriyaki sauce, which was pretty good. When you first show up in the parking lot you can smell the charcoal of food being prepared. The inside of the restaurant is a pretty laid-back type of feel. I would recommend this restaurant. For either dining in or just a quick lunch to go the portion size is very humble and quite delicious. read more
