Every now and then I'll grab a small pizza from the downtown location for lunch. Today I decided I'll just go to Evans since I'm on this side of town. Horrible mistake. I really wish a zero star was available. I'm not sure if it was a bad day, new staff, or what was going on, but this was the worst pizza I've ever had. And the Stromboli wasn't the greatest either. I ordered online and asked both items to be lite. They really crisped both items pretty good. If this was lite, I'd really hate to see well done. Due to the overcook, my dough was hard and not very edible. After eating a slice I noticed something didn't quite taste right. Oh, they forgot to add the sauce. So I basically got a burnt cheesy bread. Either that or I got someone else's cheesy bread order. Either way it sucked. As for the Stromboli, it was just ok. This was the smallest Stromboli I've ever seen. It looked it was a kids menu item. Lastly, it took about 55 minutes to get my food, but she did apologize for the wait time. I've been here several times and the Pizza Joint is a solid spot for some pizza and beer. One of the big draws for me is that they have plenty of TVs and a fantastic selection of beer. Their draft list is superb. They also have a full bar if beer isn't your thing. It's a great spot to watch a game, and grab some food and drink. I love that they have plenty of varied seating. I'm a big fan of the fully covered patio on the side. I think my only real complaint is that service can be very slow when dealing with the bar. You have all of this great beer that you want to drink, but you consistently have to wait inordinately long periods of time to get your drink. Just make sure to order before you actually need another drink. All in all, it's a great spot hang. I'd suggest dipping in and giving it a try. read more

The first impression walking in wasn't very impressive by the hostess. When our son in law put in our grandsons order. He wanted both broccoli and fries, but the waitress unable to accommodate even after offering to pay any additional charge. We also ran into a long delay on my spaghetti and my better half's cheese calzone getting to the table. Everyone else had almost completed their meal. My spaghetti was overloaded with garlic, making it not was I as anticipating . The ambiance was fine, but the service and the kitchen take a hit on this one. read more

I waited a while since my visit to try to say something positive. Nostalgia isn't enough though. The acoustics in this restaurant rivals Buffalo Wild Wings on the, "do you like yelling at the person next to you just to communicate? We're your spot." I ordered my favorite, Chicken Diane, and ate it thinking, how did they get a sawdust mill to get wood to look so much like chicken? The texture was terrible, or amazing if you like the texture of condensed sawdust. I spent a lot of time wondering where my waitress was. I stared at the tv for a while but there was neither perceivable audio nor captions. Unlike my review of Ruby Tuesday's, plenty to look at, but nothing worth looking at while waiting. And the free Wi-Fi didn't help "no Internet connection" is fun if it's a novelty, but not if it's most of my stay. The main entrance, where it says, "please wait to be seated" didn't seem to have access to the parking area. I had to traverse rough terrain while exiting via that route. The "chain" claims on its signage to be founded in 1996 but it looks like the last time it had a renovation was 1976. Worn out furniture on end. Seating was literally a wood board. There was outside seating cemented to the ground made out of actual rust. I'd give it a 1 but, nostalgia. It used to only be underneath a friend of mine's apartment on the other side or Broad St (from the Augusta location). The longer I stayed the more I loathed being there. read more

Went in for Trivia night & some food. Had an espresso martini that was decent. Started with the meatball trio appetizer and it was good. Greak salad was also good but could have use a bit more feta. I can sometimes be a pizza snob, so IMO the Detroit style pizza came up just a little short, but I can't explain why. It was good, but not like the Detroit pizza we get in my hubby's hometown. It was busy (I did mention trivia night right?) but the servers & cooks were hissing. Trivia host had a good set up & was entertaining. I have driven by this place for several months and decided to stop in because I heard they have Detroit Style Pizza! Yes! The pizza is delicious and the salad was fresh and large! Lots of toppings. The best part they have Blakes Cider - Triple Jam is my all time favorite. We had the best waiter that was full of smiles and very efficient. Don't let the other reviews deter you from trying this pizza place. 1st, the service was average but it was more than likely due to the restaurant being short on staff, we can tell our waitress was very busy. 2nd the food itself was phenomenal, the garlic knots were crispy and full of flavor and the pizza I personally ordered was terrific. 3rd, they were very accommodating as there were 9 of us. This was a delivery. Sister ordered spaghetti and I ordered a Hawaiian pizza. Spaghetti was too spicy for her. Although the marinara sauce that came with the garlic bread wasn't at all. And I guess whoever made the Hawaiian doesn't believe pineapple belongs on pizza. It had no flavor at all. Even the sauce was bland. Bummer. read more

It's been years since I came here and all I could remember was how much I missed this place and all the delicious pizza options. My family and I had just gotten back from NYC so my son was really excited to try out Pizza Joints thin York style pizza so we decided to stop by and boy oh boy has this place gone downhill. None of the specialty pizza slices were good, I feel like they just piled ingredients up but it just didn't have the flavor you'd expect. The carnivore and pepperoni were good but not great like I remembered, essentially store-bought quality. The calzone and stromboli were actually pretty good, but for a place called "pizza" joint I'd expect the pizza to get more of the quality attention. The staff was great and the atmosphere was very mellow with various sports on so I enjoyed that, though the beer I had tasted nothing like what it was supposed to so I don't know if something was off or I just got the wrong beer. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the buffalo wings we shared as an app but that was the best part of the whole meal. I'd say maybe it was an off night but there was less than 15 people there, but all I can say is we will be trying any other pizza spot before we come back to see if it has improved. read more

I would give 5 stars except for the fact that the place is a bit dingy and aged. Of course, that can be part of the charm too, as long as it's clean. The bartender that greeted us was great. He was attentive and had just the right amount of interaction with us. He knew his beers and was helpful with several selections. I ordered the Big One pizza, which boasts beef, pepperoni, bell peppers, black olives, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions. The crust was perfectly crispy, which can be difficult with the amount and types of ingredients on the pie. I like when my pizza slices don't droop and this one didn't disappoint. My son had a Greek salad. It was sizable and he said it was really good. Unfortunately, they only get locally broadcast games (no packages), so if you want to watch a lot of games on a Saturday or Sunday you'll need to bring your phone, tablet, or computer, which is what we did. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while, I don't eat pizza that often, but when I do, I like a high-quality pizza. I did enjoy the atmosphere, it was busy, but not too busy for a Saturday night. I was seated quickly and greeted fairly quickly. I ordered a margarita pizza which was for lack of a better word anorexic. There was barely anything on it, and the dough was not cooked all the way. The server was very nice but did not come back to check on me after the pizza was delivered, I didn't have a plate so I ate right out of the pan, not that big of a deal. I honestly could've gotten a better pizza from Domino's or Pizza Hut. I may or may not be back but first impression was not great. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed in the last year or so, but the quality of food has really gone downhill. Honestly I understand inflation, if they had raised their prices to keep the quality food we have come to expect we would've gladly paid since it was our favorite spot to eat. The PJ fries being changed to regular fries was the first mis-step. They were my favorite fries from anywhere! The pizza yesterday felt like a microwave pizza, the cheese was sticky and non-existent. Their one saving grace is their wings! I love them and will continue to order those through delivery apps. Everything else is subpar now. Not sure who changed things, but put it back please! To top everything off, there were dusty shoe prints on our table from the employees standing on them to close and open the blinds around the restaurant. Today I made a visit to try their wings but unfortunately they were out of wings so I decided on getting a Philly Hoagie with potato chips and the zeppole a and unfortunately they were out of the zeppole a so I decided to go ahead and get lunch. Honestly this is one of the best places in Evans to get a hoagie at if you haven't tried one before I encourage you to try it. And the service here is just as top-notch as it was a long time ago. Great Pizza, worth the wait and price but... the Italian Beef is about $2.00 way over priced and isn't great. I wouldn't pay more than $8.50 for what they are trying to pass off as Italian Beef. To be honest, I wouldn't pay more than $4.00 for their current recipe. I'm from Chicago, the city that created Italian Beef and was excited to hear the Pizza Joint was attempting to re-create the sandwich. The bread was okay, I don't know if it's home made but Publix supermarket has better French bread. The meat seems like its plain old deli roast beef that was cut too thick. Italian Beef should be thin to the point where it is almost transparent. The giardiniera is too sweet, I'm talking real sugary tasting... Giardiniera should be hot or vinegary or both, I'm not sure if Pizza Joint made theirs with red wine vinegar but it should be made with white vinegar. The sandwich comes with a small container of au jus and I believe that was nothing more than someone opening a can of beef broth. I'm tempted to offer the Pizza Joint owners a sample of my homemade Italian Beef and giardiniera so they would know what it should taste like. read more

I'm a regular at the Evans location and I really like their gourmet pizza slices. The staff there are always friendly and helpful, and their food rarely disappoints. The prices are also fairly reasonable for dining-in and the atmosphere is nice, with a bar and live TV. The reason for this review has nothing to do with the taste of the food and everything to do with the extremely unprofessional service, and problem with my order which they refused to fix. I placed an order for 2 pizzas. One was traditional and the other Detroit style. Each was supposed to be a 14" pizza. When they brought the boxes, I immediately noticed a problem with the Detroit style. The box was barely 14" in diameter, and the pizza inside was much smaller. I politely and without making a scene asked a staff member to take a look because we are all human and mistakes happen. He initially said, "No that looks like a 10" (the smaller size they offer), but the bartender insisted it was accurate. Rather than make a scene, I left. I just won't be going back, and I recommend you don't either. For verification I have photos of the two pizzas. This is what almost $50 gets you at this place. Let me start with the fact that I am new to the CSRA region and lived in a major city for 26 years before moving here. I love the sense of community and hospitality I have felt since I decided to call this place home. I am not retired and travel extensively for work across Alabama and Georgia. I am a senior executive at my company and a world traveler. I am a foodie and a glass-half-full type of person. I came to my default position in this review only after observing a pattern of behavior and taking away all possible excuses for the bad service but one. I can't assess the food because I could only get a beer while sitting at the bar waiting for 20 minutes on a slice of pizza, maybe even 1/2 hour. I wish I had read the reviews before coming to the restaurant, and I would have avoided the place. I was in the restaurant long enough to almost finish a pint of beer and watch everyone at the bar, including three individuals who came in after me, serve their food before my bartender even bothered to come back to me and ask if I had received my slice. I have worked as a waiter throughout college and know how restaurant food service works. Never during my visit on a recent Sunday afternoon (10/13) did anyone from management approach me about the service oversight, and the restaurant was in no way in the weeds on the front side or back side of the house; the parking lot was not even half full, and the place looked thoroughly, staffed. About 20 minutes in and frustrated, I told the bartender to cancel my order and that I would pay for the beer and be on my way (never once raising my voice). Once I indicated I wanted to cancel the order, someone appeared to me right next to the couple who came in after me, and they were eating their entrees. I did not bother to look over to see who it was because I have had this experience more than once in my 59 years in "certain settings." The bartender now has a box in her hand indicating they had my slice; I reminded her I did not order my food to go and that I did not want the slice at this point; allow me to settle up with you on the beer, and I will be on my way. The bartender then tossed the slice in the trash, which is where it belonged. I left the bartender a $2.50 tip after paying for the beer. Overall, the atmosphere in the restaurant is top-notch; TV's are state of the art, and the ambiance for a pizza joint is on point. To anyone reading this, If you have melanin in your skin, I would not recommend this place without a proper escort hint hint. I for sure will not be back; more importantly, I will make sure my friends and family, golf buddies, fraternity buddies, and my corporate office know about the place, and I for sure will make sure no one in my circle eats at the place or caters a breadstick from the Pizza Joint. Thanks, but no thanks plenty of Pizza restaurants in the CSRA to get a slice, frankly Costco just became more appealing after visiting this establishment, wait Costco also sells full pies as well, a whole lot cheaper, and they serve "All Members" the Pizza Joint appears to be pimping backward. Service was good enough, everyone very nice but it was hard to find someone to take our order sitting outside so we ended up going inside and ordering at the bar.
