The sandwiches make for a great standalone meal: top notch bread and stuffed with fresh ingredients...but the Detroit pie I ordered stole the show with its wide variety of flavorful cheeses and super-thick crust. Save your money you're better off going to Pizza Hut or Papa John's. It's been a long week so my husband went to pick up an order that we placed online. I was really excited because I was craving pizza. Well he gets home and we open up the box of pizza and let's just say the Slices 98% sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. By the way, the disappointment doesn't stop there. We also ordered garlic knots, which tasted three days old, and we ordered a garlic butter sauce, which was just melted butter - disgusting. The only good thing about this order was the marinara sauce, which was the only flavorful thing in this order. You can tell whoever made this pizza and serve those garlic knots for our order hates their job. I usually don't write reviews like this But harder money was spent on this pizza and for it to taste like this, and look like that is unacceptable. Don't come here just go somewhere else. read more

This is my favorite place in town to get an affordable freshly made good pizza slice with acquaintances. This venue has a food rating A. The ratio value for money is excellent here. The restaurant manager Christina and her staff are also extremely customer-oriented and honest. I had forgotten my cell there. Christina answered my phone call in a friendly manner at 1:00 am, even though the Pizza joint closed at midnight. This is outstanding customer service right there! After I described my cell, she confirmed her staff found it and I could retrieve it that day when the Pizza joint will open again at 11:00 am! When I came to retrieve my cell, Christina asked me to describe the cell prior to give it back to me. That is best practice to ensure the correct proprietor of the cell got it. This is a popular pizzeria on a Friday night. Nevertheless, my party of three got immediately seated in a comfortable booth. There were some large TV screens in the bar area. I got the freshly made large pizza slice "Tree hugger" ($4.27 including taxes). I love the pizza wasn't greasy and covered with a large amount of fresh toppings. The crust was pleasant and not dry. My dinner companions got two beers each, a stromboli and meatballs served with toasted bread. The size portion of the stromboli was generous. Half of it went home in a box to go. Kristen provided attentive, friendly and non-intrusive service. The Pizza Joint - Evans is one of my wife and I favorite restaurant, we've been patronizing here for years and have never shared my thoughts with the Yelp community. It's refreshing to visit a establishment that is consistent with customer service and quality of the food. Today's visit we were greeted by the hostess and seated, shortly afterward our waiters arrived, introduce himself and took our drink order well, he took our whole order (already knew what we going to order) we order the Hotyaki Chicken Wings (twice baked) which were served hot and delicious and the Vegetable Calzone which was cooked to perfection... all this and a full bar makes Pizza Joint-Evans a establishment to visit for a meal or happy hour. My family likes their food but we have had terrible service the last 3 times we have gone. We had to wait to be seated--not because they were busy or short staffed--but because staff were too busy chatting it up with each other. Best spaghetti and meatballs I've ever tasted. Very spicy and I always have enough for two meals. The cheesecake with pecans, chocolate and caramel is excellent and the strawberries are good,too. I get take out from TPJ at least once a month. read more

The food itself was good. We had a little bit of snafu tonight, but the waitress made up for it. My husband ordered 12 wings and only got 10, and I ordered a calzone without mushrooms which came with mushrooms in it. Got pizza here for the first time recently. We're new to the area and still trying to find decent places to eat. I had super high hopes going into it, as the photos from others' reviews look great and the ordering process was fantastic! They even give a military discount, which is always a plus in my book. The calzone was delicious and the Detroit pizza was alright (much smaller than anticipated). Unfortunately, the large pizza was so well done that it was completely inedible. All of the flavor had been completely cooked out and the entire bottom of the pizza was burnt. After calling and speaking with the manager, we were given a sincere apology and a full refund. Would maybe eventually try again solely based on the wonderful customer service all around, but so sad about the pizza. read more

Waited over two hours for a pizza that was truly unmemorable. Drinks were lukewarm (I guess they were out of ice) and if we had not asked the waitress about the delay in getting our pizza... she pretty much ignored us. Giving them one star is a total stretch. read more

My family and I had the worst service ever tonight! Our server made a mistake on one of our orders so she said she would have the kitchen remake the order. The manager comes over to apologize and tells my brother that she would discount the pizza. Another server then comes to our table with our tabs that she had grated us when it was 4 adults and 4 children. Now take it we still don't have the pizza for the kids. My brother was given a 1.29 discount! When he asked to speak to the manager again she told us we was rude to her server and we needed to leave. Little did she know I have worked in the same line of work for almost 15 years. I think they all need to be retrained! Never again will they get my money! read more

Worst place I've ever been. Came in with my boyfriend for a to go order, he ordered a drink while we waited, he was almost done with his beer and ordered another one. Well they told him he couldn't order another one until he was finished with the one he had. Been here several times and that's never been a rule. Well finally he gets his 2nd drink and comes outside to smoke. I asked him to take a sip of it, not even 5 min after the manager comes out asking for my id. No!!!! Pizza Joint, ugh. I am so disappointed :( Not only have I been raving about this being one of my favorite places when I visit Augusta, but I was TRULY looking forward to my visit..... It's sad because I loved this place years ago but it has definitely gone downhill. My Experience: 8pm on a Wednesday and we walk in to the restaurant. Seated promptly with a smile. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time due to a slight rush on our part. The server brings out the drinks...and this is where it goes downhill. My vodka rocks....(I asked for light ice mind you) was literally water. It was horrible! And then...the pizza arrived. Okay, for those of you that remember PJ it used to be stellar! We always knew the slices came from a prepared pie, but it seemed fresh because it was hot when it came out and they threw on some mozzarella on top to not only hold the toppings, but to give it a fresher taste. THAT is gone folks..... My pizza was greasy and dry (no stringy cheese, just stingy) as was my husband's. We mentioned this to our server and the manager approached shortly after. He was friendly and we were upfront...he tells us that it will take 15 minutes to get some "old school" slices out. It was 9:20pm by the time we got our 3 slices again. They were not as dry as the first time but still missed the mark. I want to add that we did not eat the other slices.....Oh and the best part...when our bill came at 9:35pm it was for the full amount. Recap: We waited an hour for the 3 slices we originally ordered to come out "fresh" (and noticed other people get their slices while we waited) and were still not smitten. After this, the manager brings us the full bill. When I inquired, he gave us 20% ($3) off. I am all for paying for what you consume as I used to be a server but that's just not right. Even if we had just paid for the drinks...which were watered down, I would have been happy, but to wait for lackluster pizza for so LONG?? They could have taken our slices off.... We still would have owed over $20 and I would have gladly paid it because......they made it right. BUT they never did... I will never recommend this location. Ever. Great place for pizza and a very extensive drink selection. Asked my server about their favorite pizza and the pickle pizza was suggested it was amazing. It's not on the menu but I would definitely recommend it. I also had the garlic bread which was good. If your in the area I would recommend stopping by for some pizza(which is sold from a slice to a 20in) , some pasta or a drink. So tried this pizza spot on several occassions late night. This is Augusta and selection is limited after a certain hour. Each time I came to just have a nice cold beer and a slice of pizza, the young lady behind the bar acts like she is going out of her way to take an order. Thought it was a fluke because people have bad days soemtimes, but no it is her attitude! The pizza sauce tastes too sweet and the pepperoni and sausage are mediocre. It listed pizza names with no details of what was even on the pizza. Found that strange so when she finally came back I asked if I could see a menu with prices and she flippantly said - you can look it up online. I was shocked. You just can't beat $2 pizza slices (really darn large slices!) and $2 brews on Tuesday nights. The place does get packed for Tuesday night deals but the slices don't take long. If you want a $10 whole pizza though they'll warn you about the wait time (usually 30-45 min). There's more than a dozen good beers you can pick on draft - I'm talking Abita purple haze, son of a peach, and beers from local breweries and not the typical bud light and corona. read more

I'm always on the search for good pizza. And being a Chicagoan I've give up on finding a good stuffed pizza and am focusing on finding a decent flat pizza. I've heard very good things about this place, then I hear this place used to be so good so many years ago...who knows? The family came here on a whim on a cold and windy day 'cause pizza is a universal food and Pizza Joint makes a good meaty pizza to complement my veggie half of the pizza. I especially love the artichokes since they add a substantial amount of texture to what could be an otherwise flat and boring pizza since I don't eat the crusts. We brought our dog along and sat out on the patio so we could all eat together. It's hard leaving your dog at home and I wish there were more dog friendly places but alas, it's a niche market. Our dog chowed down on some chicken tenders while we partook in her chips and ranch. I was really surprised with how big the portions were for a kid size entree but pleasantly satisfied with the basket of potato chips nevertheless. Our server was definitely worthy of a 4 star rating. He came out to check on us frequently, offering to refill my paper cup of soda and was quick and courteous in turn.
