For a small town pizza spot this is an unexpected pleasure. The menu is small but the piecrust is fabulous as is the sauce. The ingredients are of supreme quality and placed well on each pizza. They definitely don't throw things together at this place. There is pride in every pizza type item they make. The salads are not so great. Especially the Cesar. The salad bar is not worth the money. The most basic things as a condiment is missing. Thdo not have balsamic and olive oil out all the time for dressing of salads. They only offer lasagna as a pasta dish. For a small place, there are tons of options. They offer pizza obviously but also pasta, soup, salad and desserts. Everyone was very friendly. We ordered the meat lover's pizza. We are new to Brackettville, and The Pizza Outpost was a pleasant surprise! The quality and selection offered here would be hard to beat in a town of a much larger size, and the customer service was excellent. We ordered the chicken supreme specialty pizza, hot wings, a salad to share, and the lemoncello cake for dessert. Yes, we were hungry! What we didn't expect was that the pizza would be so large that we could eat off it for several days! All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. When I went to pick up the food, the restaurant and kitchen area looked impeccably clean. It was also a nice surprise that they had a website, so we could decide what we wanted without having to go into the restaurant, place an order, and wait. I'm from New York and I came down to Ft. Clark Springs Texas with my fiancée to meet her family. This pizza shop is just about a cross the street from the forth, and I obviously love pizza. I had a slice of meat lovers to start and have stopped in every day since. The crust and sauce are as good as I've ever had. I am an executive chef and I understand what it takes to make a great crust and the crust is everything. You see I can tell the crust is not just risen but also slightly fermented much like sour dough but not aged as long. When baked at high temperatures the gluten and starch creates a crystalline structure that makes the dough crispy and soft. If the dough is mixed too long the starch will extract from the flour and turn to gum. If it isn't allowed to rise long enough or if salt comes in direct contact with bloomed yeast it won't rise correctly and will become hard on the outside and chewy in the middle. Everyone knows a pizza place who's crust has those characteristics. So knowing all this the art of making pizza dough takes a skilled baker and this place has a great one. The sauce isn't to sweet or too sour, they also put the correct amount on because we all know how annoying it is when the cheese and toppings keep sliding off. I know I am getting boring now but this is great pizza inside, out I will absolutely come here whenever I can. read more

I'm going to give the pizza 4 stars; since this is a pizza place...but I'm gonna give about two and a half stars...to the rest: First, the pizza is LARGE. I'm old enough to remember, when you ordered a large pizza...you got a large pizza. Nowadays...a large, is the old medium. Well this pizza is large. I thought it was a little sparse on toppings (we got Pepperoni and Canadian Bacon)...but it was pretty good. Now the 2 1/2...First, it was 102 degrees outside...and about 85 degrees inside. I don't know if the A/C was on a temporary hiatus...or this is how it is when it gets hot outside. The place was neat enough, on the inside...but you got a get the temp thing worked out! My wife said she wanted a salad, so I said I would take one also. Thinking I could get a house salad. We were charged $5.50 for the "salad bar" (normally 6.50 without pizza). There was hardly any salad at the bar and what was there was wilted (more like melted from the heat). I asked for a refund on the salad bar...but; to the credit of the lady at the cashier...said she would bring some fresh salad. I said OK; however, they were out of cheese and Ranch dressing. other items were at the bottom of the barrel. There are probably only 10 items on the salad bar. I was too embarrased to ask for more cheese or dressing. This was at 7:00pm on a Friday night...not very crowded. Lastly, the iced tea seemed to have a slight tea taste...but looked like faintly colored water...please put tea in your tea...it's pretty cheap. SO...I'd probably grab a pizza to go, next time. At $31 for a pizza and salad...I'd skip the "salad bar" next time. read more
