2nd lunch visit. First, The Place is ABSOLUTELY SPOTLESS! Clean, nicelY decorated and the restrooms are 5. First lunch visit about 2 months ago. I had the Burger Sliders. Not knowing I asked for well done, and they were, but unfortunately tasteless. I figured it was my fault for asking for Well Done. Today, had the meatloaf mashed potatoes and squash casserole. The meatloaf wasn't traditional, with brown gravy instead of ketchup glaze. It was good, but entirely too salty. I couldn't finish it. It seemed to have dried onions instead of sauteed onions, they were still crunchy. The mashed potatoes was a toss up. I thought they were baked, my friend thought that were instant. Either way they were extremely dry and covered with the same gravy. I chose the side upgrade, squash casserole. Had trouble finding the squash. WAY too much breading, only a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top. Other members of my party enjoyed the shrimp tacos and salmon. They said it was good. Total ticket was $58.00 + 20% tip. We had heard good things about this place and wanted to try it. 12:30 on a Saturday. The sign said open. The sign said seat yourself. We did. No service. There were a couple of people drinking at the bar. They eventually got up and went to work. Apparently they were staff not customers. There was staff in the kitchen and staff walking around the bar. Very strange experience. We went one night around midnight (we checked and the place closed at 2am) and we entered and genuinely thought the place was closing. Wow... to say the least I was appalled at the "supervisor's" interaction to me .. I arrived and was greeted, and sat immediately... With my service dog, The supervisor came over, and encouraged me to change where I was seated... And encouraged me to sit in the corner... I was then told that the waitress that is to take care of me is terrified of dogs... I understand that, however, my service animal is with me to help me... I immediately changed my mind on where I was going to dine last night... Not only did this "" supervisor take business away from this establishment, she also with her snarky attitude, took revenue away from the waitress... There was another right beside her, and as she walked away, I looked at my guest, and decided that I would spend my money elsewhere... I will never step foot into this establishment again!!!! Absolutely ridiculous somebody in the corner because they have a service animal, which clearly has a vest on, and a collar... And then to remark that your terrified of dogs... OK that's fine, the dog is not there to terrify your employee, the service animal is there to help me... So I got up, left, and I Arby's sandwich for dinner... And I wish I got the supervisor's name because she's driving business away from your establishment, very condescending and rude, and taking money out of your servers pockets... My wife and I had dinner at The Place Tavern on Saturday 02/15. We go there often and the food is always great. Saturday evening they were busy and it looked like there was only one server (I think her name was Queen?) and she was bussing around taking care of an almost full restaurant. It sis take a little while to get our food but that was fine. What wasn't fine is how what I suspect was the manager (dark haired guy with a beard) spoke to the staff, especially in front of customers (I couldn't hear exactly what he was saying but he sounded very mean and condescending! He didn't seem to be helping very much at all. As a restaurant guy, I would NEVER have stood for that. The guy is a bully and he should not be in that job!!!!! We love the place and we have talked to the owner a few times - he had good managers there before - both Terry and Josh were great managers - but this guy is not some one I would have in my place. read more

I've wanted to try this place for a while. I stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening around 6pm. They were already out of bacon and coca cola. I ordred nachos as an appetizer and they came out cold. We had to send it back. There was only one waitress working the floor at the time.we came in. She was very nice, just very busy. She tried her best to provide good service with what she was dealt with so thats the only reason they arent getting one star. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was cold. The rice was flavorless and they were smothered with unseasoned black beans. I couldn't even eat it. I had a margarita and it was good. I enjoyed it. The ambience is very weird. The music is very low so its awkward that you can hear other guest conversations. The set up is layed out a little strange as well. All in all the service is slow due to low staffing but our waitress tried her best, the vibe is off, and the food is subpar. This will probably be my last visit to this establishment. read more

I've been eyeing this restaurant for quite some time now, and we've finally decided to give it a try. Nice place to come and watch the game. The decor is nice. Plenty of flat screens for viewing and the patio is spacious. We had the Ultimate Big Boy Burger and it did not disappoint!!!! Oh my goodness! This is a good spot, that could be a really great spot. I've come here 5 or 6 times, as it is near where I live, and it could become a go-to with a couple changes. The atmosphere is great. The location is great. The service is great. (Angie was fantastic on my last visit!) The food is consistently good, and when it's not right, they make it right. But... the last time I was there I ordered an entre with a side, but I upgraded to a "premium side" which is $1 more on the menu. But, when the bill arrived, the up charge was 150% more than that ($2.50). I brought this to their attention and eventually they made it right for me, but I would love it if they would adjust their prices, or adjust the menu, to make it right for everyone who comes here. It is a small thing ($1.50), but a big principal that speaks volumes about the overall character of a business. If they make this right, that too would speak volumes. The other thing they could do to earn another star from me would be to elevate their daily special, in variety, quality, and originality. That would give me a solid reason to come here much more often and make this a true neighborhood go-to destination. With a couple changes, I hope to add a couple stars in the near future! read more

First time at this restaurant, and I can't say that I'll be returning. Omg the other reviews were absolutely right..service is BEYOND SLOW. I went in Friday night, and it was all of 6 tables in there. I stood at the front waiting to even be acknowledged for 7 minutes (yes, I counted). I was finally seated after waiting 10 minutes. There was no line and the place wasn't crowded, so I'm not sure why it took so long. Servers walked past me as well and didn't say anything. I was finally seated, and my server was not friendly and lacked personality. At this point, I just wanted to eat and leave. So I ordered the Bone-In Grilled Pork Chop with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The food was surprisingly pretty good. The meat was seasoned. The potatoes were very stiff, but it had good flavor and my salad was good. You can't really mess up a salad anyway. Throughout dinner, I had several different check on me that was not my server. My server came over twice (once to take my order and another time to bring me the check). I didn't think this was appropriate. I had to ask other people for dressing, water, and silverware. We were happy to be served a late meal after 11:00pm. Great food and drinks. We sat in the bar area which was not rambunctious or crowded.

Upon entry, no hostess to greet you. No sign to seat yourself or wait...the few folks that came all look confused. Double swinging doors to the bar area look like keep out more than welcoming. Waiter was nice, but never said his name and was not knowledgeable about the bar. When I asked if the burgers were fresh, he responded with "every couple of days". I ordered one anyway and it tasted fine. I'm not a women's basketball fan, not sure why it was on half of the TVs that were turned on. About 8 TVs were not on for some reason. Overall the food was okay, fries were very average and the burger was cooked well (ordered and received medium). Took forever to get my check which is annoying when it is not very busy. My wife and I have been coming here for the past three years and really, the only issue we've had is with the service. We enjoy the food and I've never had a bad meal here after trying almost everything on the menu. I just wish they could be consistent with their service. When you finally get a table, the servers are pretty on top of things and friendly, but trying to get a table can be a chore. We went in this evening and stood at the hostess desk for about five minutes before we finally decided to go over to Taco Mac (it was close, don't judge). This has happened at least twice before, so it isn't just an off-night, and it wasn't busy (two other tables, plus bar traffic). We could hear laughing coming from the kitchen, so there were definitely workers there. I wanted to give them our business, but I was ready to eat and get home. Great service, despite our initial skepticism due to poor reviews. We visited for lunch today and the hostess and waitress were both very accommodating. The waitress set expectations up front, explained the specials and even came back to let us know the food would be arriving in the next minute or two. She checked on us a couple times and got us a to-go box afterwards. I ordered the bacon cheese macaroni spring rolls with jalapeños. They arrived hot, had good flavor and spice. Very impressed. We tried this on recommendation of a friend. Items eaten: Sunday Buffett. Cost: 60 inc tip for 3 adults. Good: Service was good. The food was really good, the food we could get that is. Bad: Service or lack of service at the buffet. The lady who came over and fussed me several times in front of my family!!! Service has definitely gone downhill over the past couple years and I hope the management team figure it out. We were there late yesterday afternoon and service was awful. Our server seemed much more interested in socializing with another table than paying attention to the couple other ones she had. The hostess was no help. When we expressed dissatisfaction in the service after having to walk up to her to ask for our check, the single word response was, "Sorry" before the server turned around and walked away. The service was quick and friendly and very helpful with the menu. We had the spicy Mac-n-cheese with bacon rolls. Different and very tasty. The service is definitely not as it should be. I think there may be a staff shortage or something but it's just not even worth it. I've tried to go there three times in the last two months the first time I left I could not even get anyone to seat me . The second time I figured the first time may have been a fluke but I got seated and the service just went downhill from there and as I'm glad for punishment I try to the third time and it was still just OK. There are 15+ games for football, but they were playing 80s girlpop songs and not the games (even when asked to change the tunes). The food is sort of all over the place with options but nothing defining. Cobb salad was lackluster, club sandwich was equally meh, and the burger was okay at best. Despite the place being dead (I counted four tables on Sunday afternoon) the waiter barely checked in on us -- even as my glass sat empty for almost a full quarter of football -- and the food took forever to get there. Great new classy place to hang and grab a sophisticated bite, in Hiram, no less! Very pleasant and attentive wait staff. I love this little spot although it is far from small. On the contrary, the inside is very large, spacious with an open floor plan. There are plenty of seating and TVs! The bar area is nice and the food is really good too from the burgers to the salads. We tried The Place again and were once again disappointed. I ordered an Ultimate burger that comes with bacon, fried egg and jalapenos, sans the jalapenos. I asked for a medium cooked egg fir the burger and it came out over easy which squirted out the bread and onto my shirt, yolk and shirt material do not mix well. The burger must have been cooked on high since the outer part of the meat was well done and the inner part was red. The shrimp tacos had a blacken seasoning that was too salty. The tea was not good. I called ahead and gave them about a 10-12 hour notice and told them we would be bringing in about 50-75 people (mostly teenagers) around 11:00pm on a Saturday night. The manager, Sharon, told me that would not be a problem and they would love to have us. When we got there, they had a section for us. They never once complained about our loud teenagers, who were still hyper from having just performed in a theater production. They handled everyone's orders quickly and efficiently. For the first time I've visited this business and myself and my significant other felt very uncomfortable. We were the only black couple and the manger was notified because we were very affectionate with each other. We were told because we were already under the influence we could not be serve any alcohol beverages. We were not under any influence but love.
