I love their prime rib, which is a deal at the price they charge. The sides are pretty great too. Don't get the layonese potatoes, they're crazy greasy. The loaded baked potatoes are not loaded they're lightly topped. Stick to the Mac & cheese, whipped potatoes, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, etc. We love them! Drinks are solid and worth the price! Never tried dessert because that selection is pretty basic and we'd rather go to a bakery than have generic deserts.

We have a $500 dinner between 4 people and it was just really bad. For an expensive steak and seafood dinner I really was hoping for good ambience and food. I got a martini and it was nottttt drinkable. It tastes like really bad quality spirits. Idk it was just bad. As a bartender I never noticed finish my drink at dinner before but a couple sips immediately gave me a headache so I didn't finish. My sister and I got different cut steak and it was just not good. My daughter got oysters and the oysters were soooo dried out like it's been open, dead, and in the fridge for so long that it was just dried up and no meat. It was pretty disappointing. I don't know if we just ordered the wrong food or had bad luck. But it didn't help that the server wasn't aware of our experience and kept forgetting about us. I was really disappointed as for this price I could have went to ocean prime or del frisco for an over the top experience but I truly wanted to support local. I won't be coming back :(

Almost two years later, and the place still is impeccably clean, and those green leather booths are inviting. Service was great and got us in and out rather quickly...though we never felt rushed at all. I would have been happy to order the steak tips or burger again, but the tips have been replaced by steak frites on the menu. The steak was perfectly cooked to my preference (medium rare), the fries were crispy, and the peppery arugula salad complemented everything.

Had a fantastic blackberry mimosa- more than a dozen flavors available. My lobster eggs Benedict was reasonably priced with lots of lobster. The breakfast potatoes were just the way I like them- crispy. Too full for dessert but they had some good options. Service was friendly and attentive. My only disappointment was that I got the peach and tomato burrata with some grilled shrimp to take home- it was going to be my dinner. Got home and discovered they forgot the grilled peaches. It was sort of the whole point of me ordering it. They apologized and refunded me when I called but it left me having to cook dinner. Everything else was good so I'll try them again. They're closed on Sundays in the Summer- will check them out in Sept.

Fresh and perfectly cooked. I think the mashed potatoes must be fabulous fresh, but mine were heated over because they were prepared before I arrived, so I tasted that heated-over taste. But! They were very good; real potatoes, which you almost never can find anymore, and lots of butter! I might change that myself; a little less butter and a little more milk or cream. The thing I found disappointing was the fried chicken. I went to the restaurant to try the ribs because I'm looking for ribs to serve at a dinner party and I'm on the hunt, but I had to try the chicken! You may like it; I think my objection is a personal taste thing, but ..... The coating on the chicken tastes like it was poured out of a spice-blend like Montreal Steak seasoning or the Kirkland Signature Organic No-Salt seasoning, or Lawrey's Seasoning, or the seasoning packet from Good Seasons Zesty salad dressing packets - I know I've tasted it before, but I can't remember which it is. It was too too much! As I said above; it tasted like it was poured into bowl from the package and the chicken was dredged in it. The flavor may be great if it were toned down a little, like starting with flour and adding the seasoning blend to the flour? Starting with half and half of each would be an improvement, but I would go with a 3 to 1 ratio of flour to mix. Other than that, I am definitely going to order the ribs for my dinner! As it was, I used the sauce that came with the ribs to dip my chicken in; that sauce is out of this world!!!!! And the two gentlemen who helped me were terrific! Carmen talked to me about the ribs, the rest of the menu and was the most gracious host! I told him about my quest for ribs and he was very helpful! He alone is worth going back for. And Zee must have asked me 10 times if I needed anything; he was very attentive! This is a cozy place tucked away where you can go and relax and enjoy a great meal! Order the ribs!

This is our 2nd anniversary coming by and they just make you feel like royalty. There is plenty of free self parking available. The inside is more masculine but beautiful. I've never been to a place that makes me feel like I am important like they do. We got the fried clams to start. They were sweet and well fried. Tender and paired with a nice sauce. We shared the 48oz cowboy ribeye. It was massive and presented so nicely. Last year I had the regular ribeye and prefer it but there was nothing wrong with this. You get to choose sauce or salt. We love the smoked salt and also went with a horseradish cream. We got fries on the side which were good but nothing compared to this massive meat.

I made a reservation for a Saturday night at 7:00 for two. Note: I originally went to make the reservation online from their website but the availability was not good, so I called instead. Online it pretty much looked booked between 4:30 and 8:00 - I called and was able to get 7:00 without hesitation. So, make note to call if you don't see the time or range listed online. We were greeted as we entered and checked in with the host/hostess. They were friendly and polite and told us it would just be a few minutes. They brought us back to our table and had us seated shortly there after. Our waitress was great; she told us about the specials, checked in on us, and made sure everything was as expected. We ordered some bevs that were very tasty and had great presentations. Speaking of presentation, let's get on to the food. We ordered the Tomahawk, which if you don't know, is a MASSIVE piece of meat. It's a steak meant to serve two people - in reality, it serves way more than two. The presentation of the tomahawk steak plate alone was beautiful! It had a whole bunch of stuff (see pic). They bring it out for you to see, and then they take it back to the kitchen to slice. We ordered medium rare, and probably should have gone more medium but it was not too rare so it was fine. Now, at The Bancroft, it is an à la carte style meal, meaning you order sides separately and usually a few for the table. We had the carrots (one of the specials), roasted potatoes, and creamed spinach. Forgot to say when you order meat, you also get to pick two sauces - and before anything while you wait they bring you some rolls and butter. The rolls started us off on the right foot knowing the meal was going to be phenomenal. They were warm with some sea salt on top and baked to perfection. The steak was mouth watering, juicy, and flavorful. The sauces added a great touch, and the sides were wonderful. It is safe to say, we did not leave hungry! As mentioned, while tomahawk is said to serve two, we had a lot of leftovers so of course we got those packed up to go. They were very considerate with the packaging, putting items in different boxes that made sense. We unfortunately did not have room for dessert but I'm sure it would've been awesome. The Bancroft is definitely a higher scale restaurant so it is on the pricer side, but it is justified. The food tastes great, presentation is there, and service is excellent. It's a great place for special occasions, celebrations, or just because as long as you know what to expect... but with prices today, I'd rather pay this and have it be worth it than what a crappy meal is costing today!

Since art is subjective I am reviewing more Chris and his service than the art: My wife and I had been walking by Chris's gallery for years and loved a piece called Morning Fog but never pulled the trigger on it. After closing on a place in Kennebunkport I knew it would be the perfect closing gift for the house and I went to Chris to discuss it. I was overwhelmed with the options and sizes available but Chris walked me through the whole process and placed the order. When the picture arrived he scheduled a time to come by the house and he installed it for us (it is quite large) for no additional fee. The service was just beyond anything I could have expected. I also just found out that he and his wife do wedding photography too. Since I'm already married I can't review that service but I can only imagine the amazing pictures he would come up with for a wedding. I would definitely hire him for any event I have in the future! I will also be purchasing more pieces from his gallery, I wish I had more wall space!

Soon as he found out we came all the way from Hawaii, he made us feel right at home. Real good energy, super welcoming, and took care of us the whole night. The adults started with a couple Manhattans, and da buggahs had mana . Exactly how a Manhattan supposed to be. For appetizers, we went with the full Abe's Seafood Tower and the Caesar salad. I highly recommend both. My daughter and son went all in, and the homemade croutons made that Caesar salad pop. We liked the oysters so much, we ended up ordering another dozen. Sahin told us the Duxbury oysters (I think that's the ones we had) are local to the Boston region and are farmed in the upper water column above the oyster bed, which keeps them in the current and gives them that clean, briny taste. Mean, supah ono! For the main, we shared the 22 oz bone in ribeye and lobster tail. Steak was cooked proper, juicy, flavorful, just how it should be. Sahin even offered to have the steak sliced up for us, which was a nice touch. For sides, we had the au gratin potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Both were super tasty, and the Brussels sprouts had that perfect char. Ended the meal with da cookie dessert which had homemade whipped cream. Overall, real good experience. Great food, great drinks, and service that made us feel comfortable from the jump. If you staying in Boston and like seafood and steak, this spot is worth checking out. Just note, it's a typical Boston setting, everybody talk loud haha. Mahalo plenty, Sahin. It was a pleasure. I give dis place, 2 shakas and an auriiite!
