We love stockyard. They have a huge amount of floor space and a classic steakhouse menu without the steakhouse dress code. I love their prime rib, which is a deal at the price they charge. The sides are pretty great too. Don't get the layonese potatoes, they're crazy greasy. The loaded baked potatoes are not loaded they're lightly topped. Stick to the Mac & cheese, whipped potatoes, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, etc. We love them! Drinks are solid and worth the price! Never tried dessert because that selection is pretty basic and we'd rather go to a bakery than have generic deserts. read more

I've lived on the area for over 5 years and finally decided to come here for dinner. Locals rave about this place and I wanted to know why. We have a $500 dinner between 4 people and it was just really bad. For an expensive steak and seafood dinner I really was hoping for good ambience and food. I got a martini and it was nottttt drinkable. It tastes like really bad quality spirits. Idk it was just bad. As a bartender I never noticed finish my drink at dinner before but a couple sips immediately gave me a headache so I didn't finish. My sister and I got different cut steak and it was just not good. My daughter got oysters and the oysters were soooo dried out like it's been open, dead, and in the fridge for so long that it was just dried up and no meat. It was pretty disappointing. I don't know if we just ordered the wrong food or had bad luck. But it didn't help that the server wasn't aware of our experience and kept forgetting about us. I was really disappointed as for this price I could have went to ocean prime or del frisco for an over the top experience but I truly wanted to support local. I won't be coming back :( read more

I went with my aunt and uncle to check it out on a Saturday night. A reservation is highly suggested. Our waitress was spunky and fun as she took our drink and dinner orders. I got the steak tips - chargrilled marinated tenderloin tips with a teriyaki glaze and whipped potato. The steak tips were perfectly tender but some of the char from the grill gave a burnt aftertaste that lingered. For dessert I got the chocolate ice cream with extra chocolate syrup. I'll confess that if it wasn't for a friend of mine asking to meet me here for dinner, I would have never stepped foot into this place. I've driven by and seen their sign so many times while on the mass pike but never felt even the slightest desire to look them up. The logo and name made me immediately assume that they were just another American steakhouse and not someplace I would bother going to. Not that steakhouses are a bad thing...but that I really disliked how most of these places handle the meat I ordered. So when my friend asked to have dinner there, I actually repeatedly clarified over a good part of the day if that was really the final choice. To which, he remained firm and asked me to give them a chance. It felt more like some mountain resort lodge when I first walked up to it. Felt even more so when I entered. I wouldn't say it was dated but it sure felt like a historic landmark. The man at the desk checking people in had a very dry and emotionless demeanor when we went up to get a table - a complete contrast to how he interacted with other folk coming in. Almost made me feel like we weren't welcome at all. However, the moment we got to our table, we were met by Cassandra, our super awesome and friendly server, whose charming demeanor made us quickly forget the grinch out front. We lost track of time. We were never rushed. We were attended to well...so at that point, I'll just say that service within was absolutely spot on. Apps were good. Oysters were fresh and shucked very well (and clean). Sides were great. But what converted me as someone that is an overly particular carnivore towards thicker cuts is their grasp of meat temperature. When I asked Cassandra if the kitchen actually temps their meat, she responded without hesitation that they did. So I asked for my thick pork chop to be cooked to 135 since it coasts to my preferred temp by the time it gets to me. The pork chop was perfectly cooked to my exact preferences. I honestly don't know when is the last time a server was *that* confident about their kitchen team getting a temp perfect. She was right to exude that confidence. We really enjoyed our time here and I would have definitely rated tonight a 5 out of 5 until we started walking towards the front door. Grinch was still there. A masculine designed restaurant with mood lighting very typical of a steakhouse. We came here on a Sunday night an hour before kitchen close so happy the staff could accommodate to us! We came here for a birthday steak dinner and this place did not disappoint. For the steaks outside of the beef turnedos, it comes by itself with no sides. The place really highlight its meats & all were cooked the way we liked - medium rare/medium. We also got a bottle of cab sav which went well with the steaks. For all of this it was just under $400 without tip which was way cheaper than our original plan of eating at Rare in Encore. Casino steak prices were $100+ so this was well worth it! read more

We had reservations at The Stockyard for Easter dinner. The staff greeting us were very friendly and had their bunny ears on. I love fun people. We decided to sit at the bar rather than our reserved table as we enjoy sitting with the bartenders. We chose the smaller, more intimate bar. Well, our bartender, Mark, did not disappoint. He has such an amazing personality and makes the best cocktails. He was so accommodating and made our Easter dinner memorable. I hope the next time we go for dinner there, Mark is working. He is made for that job. We started with the oysters. The frozen ice the condiments come in are really a nice addition as well as the super cold plate the oysters were served on. We split the Tomahawk steak and our sides were the asparagus and loaded mashed potatoes. So delicious. Their own steak sauce is really very good. Not overpowering, just right. I had a pomegranate martini, which was perfectly crafted, thanks Mark! On our way out we forgot something at the bar, Mark came out to the parking lot, found us and made sure we left with it. We keep coming back and it's always great. For a Friday night we expected a wait, but we got in super fast and had drinks fast. We started with oysters which were great. Came for the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection and had so much flavor. The asparagus were massive but kind of stalky, and honestly just get the regular mashed potatoes because the loaded aren't really worth it. Service has always been awesome and always super attentive. In town for some good steak and saw some good recommendations for this place and there we went, someone mentioned the union soup was not to miss so i tired it. I'll pass on that next time. Came here for the tomahawk and it didn't disappoint. Everything else from the sides and clam chowder was just ok. What made it for everything else was the service. My wife surprised me with a special celebration meal here! I'd been craving my first Tomahawk steak for two years, and this place delivered a magnificent 32-ounce, 42-day aged masterpiece. It wasn't the cheapest, but absolutely worth every penny! I paired it with grilled asparagus, a baked potato, and plenty of béarnaise sauce--pure heaven! The Tomahawk arrived pre-sliced, which isn't usually my preference, but after the first bite, I didn't care one bit. It was simply FANTASTIC. We started with a delicious shrimp cocktail with plump, juicy shrimp, and shared a classic wedge salad. And of course, the cocktails, wine, and beer were perfect. I always have high expectations here, especially for the food, drinks, and service. The serving staff, especially the bartender, was exceptional! We love sitting at the bar when it's just the two or three of us. The servers were all friendly, engaging, and a joy to chat with. This is a great place to eat and I have been here more than once. The food was good with my husband and a friend. Our server Michael was friendly and helpful and often checked to see that we had everything we needed from refills to making sure our meals were fine (which they were and very delicious). The atmosphere was comfortable with music too that included instruments and there was a fireplace with a fire going on during this crisp fall night. Thanksgiving Dinner was the worst ever. I have been a regular customer of the Stockyard and have had outstanding food and service for years. Today I ordered a Thanksgiving turkey dinner, the plate arrived with an enormous pile of instant mashed potatoes and stuffing. There were several slices of turkey on top which were covered with maybe a thick pasty beef gravy This meal was so subpar for the restaurant and it cost $40 . This has become our go to for Easter/thanksgiving out with the family. My sister, who was hesitant to give it a try, now insists this is where we go. The food is consistently good, the service consistently good and pricing reasonable. Solid steakhouse! It gives very old school steakhouse vibes. We dropped in because I was craving steak and saw that they also had a large parking lot. We arrived at around 4:30pm on a Saturday and they only had bar seating available (there were a few reserved tables that had no customers and the us and other patrons that arrived with us both finished our meals before those reservations were sat - perhaps it would be a good idea to open those up to tables of 2?). There's also specials posted in the back - there was minestrone, fried clams, and Boston creme pie that day. We definitely overordered because I was hungry and underestimated the portions. Pricing was very fair - it's not as nice as other steakhouses but you get a lot of food. I'll also say service was lacking, but we were at the bar so take that with a grain of salt. It seemed like the bartenders were more interested in the regulars and often avoided us. We had to flag their attention multiple times and never had our drinks or water refilled. French onion soup - great! On the saltier side but that works for me. Good depth of flavor. Clam chowder - also fantastic! I didn't expect much but it was a satisfying cup that was rich and had good proportion of clam and potato. Wedge salad - I'm converted! I got it as a side to our steak and it was perfectly balanced. Prime rib and ribeye were cooked to medium rare - we got the bourbon peppercorn sauce. I thought it was okay but my husband enjoyed it. The house steak sauce is on the sweeter side, very barbecue-ish. The house made key lime pie had a nice tang to it - the texture seemed eggier than most. Our bill totaled to around $200. Hope to return - hopefully snagging a table would result in better service. read more

All the flavors went well together. Really enjoyed the cashews in the salad for the added texture. - Prime Rib (16oz) - $44 - Still great if you're looking for prime rib! Always my go to place when I'm craving it! - French Onion Soup (cup) - $6 - Great flavors and there's tons of cheese which is fantastic! - Steak Tips - $26 - I'm happy they didn't go overboard with the teriyaki glaze. We had been a big fan of this restaurant for many years. We hadn't been in awhike so we decided to go there for dinner tonight. We were looking g forward to a nice dinner but we were extremely disappointed. We sat at the bar and waited about 15 minutes until one of the five bartenders asked us what we wanted to drink. We then waited 20 minutes until the bartender came back to take our dinner order.. I ordered the ahi tuna salad. When I received it the tuna had a funny color and it smelled bad. When the bartender asked what was wrong I told him it didn't smell or look goid. He grabbed it off the bar and was angry. He was very rude. We will not be going back. Go to Franks in Arlington for a better meal for half the price and friendlier service read more

I would suggest making reservations. For appetizers, we got calamari (decent size order, enough for 3 of us), wedge salad (they were nice to split into 3 of us) and East Coast oysters (these were very disappointing, not that fresh and very small). All the apps came out very fast but took very long before our entrées came out We got full rack ribs, bone in rib eye (decent size cut but the quality and taste were lacking and it was chewy), and prime rib (not the best quality and mostly fat). Undoubtedly a Boston institution and the prices are not bad, particularly compared to places in Boston proper, but the food fell a little flat. Okay, here are the pros: - Large parking lot. For someone with a phobia of having to deal with street parking (endless looping around the street, spotting an opening, wrangling the back and forth with the curb), this was a blessing. For some reason, the GPS took us around the back, but you can just turn directly off from Market Street. - Our waiter was attentive and observant (swooped in and took back the ribeye to be cut into smaller pieces we were sharing when it got brought to our table in one massive slab). Definitely a refreshing contrast to the usual surly old-school vibe at places like Luger's, Wolfgang's, etc. - For someone who doesn't eat red meat, I thought the steak was not bad. Then there are the cons: - Some of the non-steak dishes were just all right. The fried calamari needed another good blot to soak up all the oiliness. Caesar salad was mediocre, made as an afterthought with stale store-bought croutons and tired romaine (yes, yes, but a good steakhouse should be able to turn out serious salads too). The best part may have been the warm buttery rolls they bring out at the start of the meal. - The atmosphere all centers around this enormous wrap-around bar blasting the most recent Patriots vs. GB Packers game. Competing with all that stimulation was a band in full swing. Thankfully, we had a semi-private booth near the back, but just a note in case you want somewhere quieter. read more

We had dinner with my in-laws here for the first time tonight. I'd seen this place while driving in on the pike countless times and I had always been curious. The place is massive, and definitely has old school vibes. I enjoy that kind of atmosphere (especially since it's rare for restaurants in the Boston area), so I was happy right away. The food overall was decent. Excellent portions. My pork chop was cooked medium and was tender on the inside, black and crispy on the outside (just how I like it). The mac and cheese that came with it was succulent... my favorite part of the meal. The sides were decent- cooked okay, nothing special but everything was quite satisfactory. I split dessert with my husband - we ordered chocolate cake with ice cream which was also tasty, but the cake had been refrigerated. (For me room temp is best). I'd go eat here again and try some other stuff... I really wanted to dip into some clam chowder but truly I'm glad I didn't order even a cup because the portion sizes were so large.
