This was my first time at the Palm, and unfortunately I will not be returning. From the start they did not leave a good impression. There were holes in the table linen. This does not represent upscale or fine dining. This set the tone that they don't care about the details or the diner's experience. We ordered drinks and bread was brought to the table. I had an espresso martini and my date had the second ave sour. I did not like the martini and his drink was just ok. We would not order again. The bread was stale as if it had been sitting all day. I ordered the salmon which came with an artichoke risotto. It was delicious and the salmon was cooked perfectly. My date did not have the same luck initially. He ordered his steak medium and it came out well done and dry. They did take it back and on the third try got it to his preferred temperature. We finally had dessert zeppole (donuts) and four layer chocolate cake. Again disappointed. The zeppole was bland and could have cooked for an extra minute or so, and the chocolate cake was extremely dry. Also did not receive the cherry compote that was supposed to accompany the cake. When the check came, for whatever reason, they charged for 2 steaks, then removed the additional steak. Im not sure if they initially charged for sending the steak back or if that was an error. Overall, not a great experience and will not return. Gave it 2 stars because the ambiance and location was nice, the waitress was friendly, I enjoyed the salmon and they were accommodating to make sure the steak temperature was correct. I hope they get better by paying attention to detail, making sure they improve the customer experience, and putting out better quality drinks and food. read more

I'm always surprised by the low reviews this place has!!! Brought my family here when they visited us. We had a total of 3 adults and 5 kids. It was a Monday around 4pm and the place was dead. It was MLK day so businesses were likely closed around the restaurant. Service was friendly upon arrival and good throughout our dinner. The kids liked the caricatures on the wall and enjoyed their kids menu with crayons. They immediately brought out bread and butter plus took our drink order. We ordered several apps and entrees plus the kids got their special sized filets. The food is always tasty here. The chef even made me a chicken Parm Sammy which is not on the dinner menu--one of my faves. My family enjoyed their meals too. They ordered the wagyu lasagna and sea bass. For dessert, we ordered a couple of key lime pies. And of course, vanilla ice cream for the kids. The marshmallow topping is unreal. Soooooo tasty, it was a huge hit at our table. Came here for work lunch. Service was great, attentive and prompt. Atmosphere was lively and mostly office workers. I ordered the chop-chop salad, which came with the NY strip steak. Portion was perfect. Steak was cooked exactly medium rare as ordered. Why 3 stars, then? The equality of the ingredients screamed $15, but the actual price for the salad was $28. Streak was thin, chewy, full of connective tissue. Salad itself was a simple, regular salad similar to what is typically served as a side. Tomatoes in the salad were all soft and did not seem super fresh. Overall, the food was a let down. For the price, cannot recommend. For paid work lunch, sure, but would not spend my money here. read more

We've been here a couple times and it's been a Boston tradition at this point. We always sit at the bar and was always so enthralled with the caricatures that was painted in the walls. They're the regulars that have earned a spot in the wall. We sat down and I ordered an Italian 75 from their cocktail menu. I was really impressed with the drink list as well as this cocktail. Fantastic take on the French 75! We were only here for a short while so we ordered shrimp cocktail and some oysters. Both were delicious and tasted very fresh. This review is about private party spacing. I attended a continuing education program in their private enclosed patio space. The dinner and servers were well- organized. We had a set menu with a few options. The servers were very good. Most of us had the filet mignon- a colleague had the chicken parm which was enormous. The heat lamps were too hot when on and too cold when off- it was a temperature battle all evening. But that was just a mild distraction. The first was cooked perfectly as ordered. The servers moved around during the program without being disruptive. Good space and food options if you have a private event. read more

As you enter this steakhouse you feel the nod to the old world. The caricatures adorning the walls evoke a tradition begun at the original Palm when local artists paid for their meals with the drawings. The bar and the towering wine case echo its speakeasy roots. Even the chicken parmigiana may remind you of the Italian immigrants that started the original at the beginning of the last century. Fast forward these years later and you find a franchise that struggles to make it above the din of other such steakhouses (you know who they are). Planted firmly in the financial district -- this place oozes of the power lunch-y feel. That's generally not my thing but like any restaurant, if you look hard enough, there are elements making it special (it's still part of the human experience after all). The bartenders will chat you up and make you a great classic drink at the same time (ask for Jared!). You can order the lobster bisque for interactivity (not a word). I stopped here for lunch today and, while the service was a bit slow (albeit quite friendly) the food was absolutely fantastic! They had me at 'hello' by serving pretzel rolls for the obligatory pre-meal bread basket. And my good fortune went up from there. The lobster bisque was so good i virtually cleaned my bowl (note for management - perhaps provide a soup spoon rather than such a large spoon that is similar to a serving spoon). Next I had the special - scallops wrapped in bacon and drizzled with honey. Oh my goodness it was so scrumptious! And the scallops surrounded a piece of toast topped with lettuce, carrot strings, and a hint of Italian sauce. As if that wasn't delicious enough, I had the fried powdered donuts for dessert. It is served with caramel and chocolate sauces, as well as whipped cream. Honestly, you don't need anything of those toppers, just enjoy them as-is! It was a bit hit or miss at our table. My dish started out fine, but I couldn't get through it. Part of the pasta was a bit too al dente - and the other part was spot on. The rest of the table gave mixed reviews as well. Someone ordered shrimp which was fantastic - but the lady next to him hardly touched her dish. You hate to leave a poor review because the venue and the service was epic. Our server was fantastic and handled a table of 12 with professionalism. I had an awkward lunch here recently... I came here with colleagues for lunch during the week. I ordered the chicken parm sandwich. It came served on a...hamburger bun?? A HAMBURGER BUN!! I couldn't get over how awkward this was for me as I've never had it like this before. Its always come on a sub roll at any other place I've ordered this. I gave it a shot and it tasted just as awkward as it looked; the soft & spongy hamburger bun did not hold up and is a poor vessel for a heavy piece of chicken smothered in sauce. The bun turned into a wet soggy mess. I started eating the chicken parm alone with a fork & knife, which was actually delicious and made me wish I had pasta on the side. The fries that came with the sandwich were also delicious and tasted like they came from real potatoes. There was also a small, awkward side of pickled veggies on my plate. Like why?? They certainly did not go with or compliment my meal in any way. Almost seemed like they were put there by accident. The food here seems high quality, but awkwardly put together. Food was ok. We ordered from the restaurant week menu. The lobster bisque and shrimp scampi were very good. I had the Pappardelle Wagyu Bolognese for dinner. There was barely any meat in this bolognese. Mostly tomato chunks and occasionally you found a tiny tiny piece. Definitely disappointing. They also ran out of the Zeppole dessert so did not get to try it. read more

The favorite aspect of this restaurant for me is the high ceiling and the space , openness. There are some outdoor seating which are pierced for a nice day but because we came for a business drink , we opted for the inside bar . Drinks were good as I expected , we had beers and red wine . The food could have been slightly better for me. The french fries were on the soggy side and needed salt , the bacon which is my favorite when I go to steakhouses was a bit on the fatty and underdone for my taste but still tasty . Calamari was good. I would have loved to have tried the steaks as the other diners seemed to be enjoying their food / steak. Similar to other steak restaurants, the clientele are more businesslike. I came to The Palm with friends during Dine Out Boston. I'll break up the review into a few different sections. Ambience: It's interesting that they have a pretty detailed dress code posted online, although we saw quite a few folks that were not in line with it, so maybe the dress code was just for appearances. The colorful drawings of famous local people and others that adorn the walls are really interesting and make the restaurant feel more approachable. Meal: I ordered the Stracciatella soup, 8 oz. filet mignon, and garlic mashed potatoes with a side of the brandy peppercorn sauce. I'm not sure I had actually had Stracciatella soup previously, but it was a nice Italian egg drop soup. The steak...the steak...well, I ordered it medium and when it came out, it was solidly well done. I hate to be the person who sends back food, but when I come to an establishment that specializes in steak, I'm not there for a well done filet. I flagged this for the server, who took it back; meanwhile, I nibbled on the potatoes with the brandy peppercorn sauce (which is excellent, for reference). When the new steak came, I appreciated that the manager came out to check my satisfaction, and it was indeed cooked nicely medium. They also brought out a plate of fresh potatoes with the sauce, which I also appreciated. I had ordered a glass of red wine and was surprised when the waiter brought over a glass of rosé. My two friends and I looked at each other as if to ask, "I don't think you ordered rosé, did you?" I pointed out again which wine I had ordered from the menu. This was not a big deal and I sensed that our waiter may have been new and/or less familiar with wine. On the whole, this was an OK experience. While there were some bumps with the order, I do appreciate that management came out to see how everything was going. I'm not necessarily rushing back, but those potatoes with brandy peppercorn sauce were wonderful. I hope The Palm starts selling the sauce separately, as I'd be happy to buy a bottle! read more

The beautiful Palm restaurant at 1 International Place in Boston is a lovely oasis from the bustle outside. That being said, I was a solo older professional female arriving for a light meal after the lunch rush. The restaurant was open, the staff was cleaning up after the lunch rush. I was offered a poor table next to the water and bus stand though the rest of the restaurant was empty. I said no and selected a nicer table elsewhere. The waiter was wonderful, but my food was difficult. The Cesar salad was limp and warm. The dressing had no garlic flavor or lemon bite. Just unseasoned creamy. I sent it back. I ordered "lightly breaded Calamari". It came properly cooked golden brown, but the breading was heavy, the plate of peppers was oily and the marinara again had very little flavor. As a chef I find that sad - so easy to make flavor. I ordered asparagus as a replacement for my warm salad. The very fat spears had not been selected, cooked or trimmed properly, so that the bottoms were shrunken, the stalks over cooked and the heads were non-existent on several stalks. I requested steamed. No dressing or butter was offered. All in all a disappointing experience in a lovely environment in a premium location. Perhaps I'll try again another time I am doing business in the building. It might have been an off day. read more

We've been to this restaurant several times and have had good experiences. The steak was cooked to my husband's request and the asparagus was cooked perfectly. The waiter was very helpful in crafting a gluten free dish for me. I had the Chilean Sea Bass in a tomato sauce with vegetables. The fish was very moist and with the sauce, it was very flavorful. I don't usually get dessert, but I splurged and got the vanilla crème brûlée -- yum! My husband always enjoys the affogato - just the presentation makes your mouth water. The high ceiling and columns along with the sketches of prominent actors, politicians, and comedians on the wall makes it an engaging atmosphere. read more

Had high expectations, old location in Copley was terrific and had many dinners there over the years. So was eager to check this kind of oddly located Palm. No valet parking. Temp in restaurant was like 60 degrees, the AC was cranking tonight. Wild place I loved it. Ceiling height is incredible and place is vibing. Service was great , except a little too attentive and over the top persistent. Interrupting super often . Had the shrimp garlic pasta, very good. Also had a 3lb stuffed lobster, very good too. But, food took close to an hour, got full of wine and bread, not much room for lobster. Dam! Nice Pinot Noir by the glass, but pricey. Fun place, definitely worth trying. read more

The waiter gave me misinformation about a menu item so I didn't get what he told me. I also had Asparagus so tough I could only eat the tops. I used to be a Palm member but haven't been in a while. This location is the worst I have ever visited. My business associate had never been to one and was unimpressed with his meal as well. The time before this I ordered crab legs. They said tthe price was mkt around 50 bucks. Ummm they charged me over $130.00 for them! I didn't complain them but I am now. Enough is enough! I feel completely ripped off. The seafood tower was probably the most impressive one I've had yet in Boston!! The chef was kind enough to substitute the crab lump-meat for the tuna poke, which was out of this world. All the seafood was fresh and delicious. The lamb chops were out of this world cooked to perfection. I highly recommend adding a blue cheese crust. Mackenzie was the sweetest server and gave us excellent service. I will be coming back just for him! He was kind enough to treat us to chocolate cake and champagne for our anniversary :) read more

The steaks ordered by some of the members of our party were pretty good. The turkey dinners were gross. Dry and dusty stuffing, Extremely bitter cranberry sauce. Watery mashed potatoes. my dinner came out with no gravy on it and I had to wait for some. The turkey was odd tasting with a weird texture. Staff was very attentive and friendly which I would expect from Palm. The menu is huge with LOTS of steak options. I ended up having the lobster roll which was really good! My third or fourth high-end steak place here in Boston and this one is also very, very good. Service is excellent. Top notch from end to end. Our waitress (Stephani?) was perfect. Friendly, attentive, helpful with recommendations. I'd ask for her when I go back. Wedge salad to start was great. The lettuce here is nothing more than a vehicle for getting blue cheese and cherry tomatoes and bacon and candied walnuts into your mouth. It's completely unhealthy and the big pile of fried onion strings on top doesn't help. If you're trying to get some greens in your diet, this isn't the way to do it. For main course, I chose the 9 ounce filet. It was perfect. Cooked to the requested medium rare, the meat sliced so easily and chewed so well. Exactly what a filet should be. For sides, we had the two. One order of the three cheese potatoes au gratin and they were amazing. Creamy, cheesy, bacony. Yum. And one order of the green beans that were tasty, topped with pine nuts and prosciutto. Very delicious. Great wine list, great service. Definitely worth a return trip to The Palm. read more

Worse restaurant I've ever been in my life, including all, service and food, everything! How can you guys manage a place like this? Seriously, this place is so ridiculous for the price they charge! They were running out of caprese salad, mash potatoes the sides didn't come and they don't even know how to cook the steak the right temperature. We took 38 minutes to get our drinks and after spending three hours having dinner because all the things were running late they also didn't have the desert we asked for. I had to call the manager and tell him all what happened ( cuz he never passed to check the tables in the restaurant) he apologized n gave us a desert liquor on the house . I have dined at The Palm for lunch and dinner a few times now and I am never disappointed. I have sat as part of a large holiday luncheon, a 2 person meet-up lunch, and a family dinner. The quality is always there. The shaved steak sandwich is always a fantastic choice, especially if you have large appetite. For a bit lighter fare, consider the crab salad, which is also delicious. At our holiday lunch, the filet mignon was not as up to par but the veggies on the side (particularly the broccoli) were great. I have also eaten a cod special served with clams and chorizo. It was very light in a good way, very much hit the spot. The service is excellent at every visit, very professional. I have often notice the extensive wine list but never get to order at lunch. The one glass I did order at dinner paired with my food well and I'm sure the whole selection is equally up to snuff. There is a dining area on the outer edge of The Palm that is open air when possible and otherwise glassed in and kept warm with heaters. That's where I attended the large corporate lunch. Dining here is certainly not cheap (not your most expensive option either) but it's worth it. I definitely recommend The Palm. read more

I had high expectations for this place with the decorations and the location, but my experience here was really disappointing. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, which was a whopping $37 - I was ready to be wowed! I was asked if I want a "side of pasta", to which I said "yes!". What chicken parm comes without pasta? BIG MISTAKE. The side of pasta, which was simply a bowl of penne with a small ladle of tomato sauce on top, came out to, hold-your-breath, $23! The chicken parm itself was soggy and tasteless. I've had better chicken parm at Regina's Pizzeria in North End, for only $15, served with a free side of pasta tossed in house-made marinara. The total damage, including tip and a soda, came out to over $80! For CHICKEN PARM! This was for a business outing with my company and some clients. We won't be returning. read more

I've been to other branches across the country multiple times and had great experiences, but the The Palm Boston falls short. And there are too many other steakhouses within walking distance of this place for it to be so subpar and to get by with it. It was at 10-20% capacity on a Friday night and I can understand why. At least eight other steakhouses (Smith & Wollensky, Mastro's, Davio's, Ocean Prime, Morton's, Del Friscso's, Ruth's Chris, and Eddie Merlot's) are all within a 5-15 minute stroll. And we left The Palm wishing we'd gone to one of them. The appetizers were good, but the food overall was cold: the bread had a chill, the creamed spinach was lukewarm, and the hash browns were for sure reheated. The potatoes had this hard, plasticky texture like they'd been cooked, stored (for a while) then reheated. And this was supposed to be one of their signature items. It's totally unacceptable at any price point, let alone at this level. The steak was trimmed very badly. I can't remember when I've had such a poorly trimmed piece of meat at a steakhouse. There were tough, inedible bits all around this $75 steak, and the menu didn't mention it was going to be bone-in. I've never not finished my steak before, but I barely got through half of this one. The service was a bright spot. The team worked seamlessly together and things happened quickly. No matter who we asked for something, the answer was always "Yes, of course." read more

I have eaten at many The Palm restaurants. This one was a total disappointment. We sent our steaks back which were not prepared according to temperature requests. The waiter agreed, immediately took them back to the kitchen and sent his manager over. She made apologies. The restaurant was empty on a Thursday at 8 PM. The waiter had class and should work at a first class restaurant, not this one. If you want a great steak, this is not the place. read more
