The leasing office and maintenance are responsive Cons: 1. Utilities are too high and property management/ leasing office refuse to do anything about it. For a 2 bed/2 bath my average water bill was $85 for normal use ( e.g. - quick daily showers, wash clothes once a week or every other week etc). The electric bill was an average of $250 and closer to $400 in the winter months because heating is also electric. So if you actually like to be warm during the winter months keep that expense in mind. 2. The walls are paper thin, you will not hear your neighbors next to you but you can hear every foot step of upstair neighbors. Hopefully you don't have a family with young kids above you, unfortunately I did. And the leasing office did nothing about it. 3. When I moved out, I was charged for scratches on the stove and +$200 was deducted from security deposit for "damages" so be aware that they will do anything to take out of security deposit if and when you move. 4. Although the apartment complex is nice, I believe the rent is overpriced and charging $100 for parking is also too much considering how much renters pay in rent; ultimately its not worth it and renters can find apartments just as nice that don't have as high rent and better located.

The current management has been great from my experience so far and Matt and Ryan in the leasing office are phenomenal! They smile and greet you as you walk by and are very approachable and quick to address any questions or issues. The apartment itself is very nice with an open floor plan and new, brand-name appliances. Side note - the water pressure in the showers is amazing. There are some great amenities like game rooms and a well-rounded gym. They also have work from home spaces and a kid's play room. Outside there is a fenced-in dog run to let your dog off leash. Some owners don't pick up after themselves but that's the same anywhere you go unfortunately. The place as a whole is very pet friendly and I see a lot of dogs around. Also, it's just a 5 minute walk to Millennium Park which is a great spot to walk your dog. Did I mention there's literally a dog daycare across the street and it's one of the nicest ones I've seen? For parking, there's assigned spaces outside in the lot and inside the garage. They also have 4 electric vehicle charging stations (8 spaces) which is a huge bonus. You pay for your parking spaces but the charging station is free so it's not so bad. Although no apartment building is perfect, I can say that I'm very happy with Oak Row overall and I'd highly recommend it!

They have been quick to assist me with any issues that have arrived. Maintenance has always been quick to fix any issues I've had. *Noise level: I haven't had too many instances where noise was a problem. There have been a few times where music has been very loud at night, but when living so close to other people that's a given at times. It hasn't been too bad though. *Parking - plenty of parking available even if you have to park a little further from the buildings. Parking lot is well lighted. *Pet friendly: I don't have pets but I appreciate that it is a pet friendly apartment complex. *Gym: I've only used the gym a few times pre-Covid times. It's nice to have the option but I prefer working out in my apartment. *Controlled access *Covid response: wipes and trashcans near elevator and in laundry facilities. Restricting access to high traffic areas. Limiting numbers once restrictions were lifted. *Utilities: at the time my lease was renewed all utilities were still included (minus water) - electricity would be our responsibility soon. I'm not sure if that's already in place or not. It's nice not to have to think about all of that each month. Cons: *Laundry: Many washers out of order on a weekly basis or they're all taken up. Sometimes laundry is left in the washers long after they're finished washing. If we had in unit washer and dryer or even the connections for them I would love this place even more. *Apartment temp: I'm on the 8th floor so understandably heat rises so my apartment is always hot. Some people may like this but I prefer to be cooler (even in the winter). I tend to have multiple fans to help. Waiting for the AC to switched on, or when it is switched off, it can be quite uncomfortable when it's still very hot and humid outside. Neutral: *Courtyard lighting: Some mornings it's very dark if you have to walk through the courtyard to the parking lot. This hasn't happened often and now that the leasing entrance is available to use it's not an issue. *Package system: Currently in progress. I have had a few packages go missing so this will be a great benefit.

Front desk staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of the way to send my mails when I moved out few months ago ( due to revolution in a different city). Very much appreciated. They even found a tenant as I had to leave earlier than my lease expired, and saved $$ for me. Maintenance is awesome and quick. You don't have to worry about anything 24:7 pretty much. Very clean and well designed. I can appreciate them even more now that I have moved to another apartment and the management is not even close. The building manager Chris, treats you like a friendly neighbor. He goes above and beyond to make sure loose ends are tied up and is constantly on top of everything if there is ever any problems. The maintenance staff is quick to respond and usually comes sooner than 24 business hours to fix any problem we encounter. When we wanted to mount our TV to the wall and we asked for their assistance/recommendation to prevent damage, they exceeded our expectations in taking the time to work with us and even let us borrow some of their tools. The common areas of the buildings are well maintained. The free coffee in the main common room lounge is a godsend when you run out of coffee at home. When we first moved in here they gave us a housewarming box of goodies and they also have seasonal parties make living here more like a community. The sidewalks of the camelot property are groomed almost on a daily basis to remove debris. The gardens are updated every season and we get updated indoor entry way planters each season. Desk service with camera security make living less stressful knowing that my likelihood of having packages stolen or having a break in is rare. In addition, the free guest parking allows us to have family and friends over without the stress of finding parking for them. I have never had a pest problem once living here and all the common areas including the hallways are cleaned on a daily basis. In terms of negative things, there are few and far between to mention that we hadn't encountered or would encounter at another complex. Its fairly easy to hear people in the hallway or in other rooms in your own apartment unit but I have never encountered the noise of late night partiers. The gym is small but it is free to residents. The laundry occasionally will provide minor inconveniences like lost socks and clogs in the washers from people using pods. You can't control the heat in your apartment which kind of stinks but we have never had a problem where we were cold and if it does get too hot we usually just crack a window with no problem. All things considered, with all the small things this complex does for its residents, it far outweighs and makes up for the minor drawbacks it has and puts Camelot at a competitive price to nearby luxury complexes.

We sold our house 4 years ago and stayed in Quincy in an apartment complex and decided it was time to move out of Quincy. The rental agent was very nice and took us to look at many apartments. We had never had an issue with paying a much higher rent, but we had to keep supplying information to verify that our monthly income was 3x the amount of the apartment. Because we didn't use one of the "big banks", we had to have our financials sent to us from the bank, employers, etc. and we would forward this information to the rental office. It would take 3-4 days to hear back saying they couldn't open the attachment. This took us 1 month and at the end we were told we didn't meet the monthly amount. We were in a time crunch, my husband asked what the criteria was that they used and once he had it, he found that they did not include all of our financial information. We called the rental staff several times and we left messages for a manager to call us back, but no phone calls were returned. It was all very frustrating. We were able to find a place that we love and are very happy. Funny thing is, we surpassed 3x the monthly income requirement for a similarly priced apartment.

I…read morethink there are some helpful things to know if you're deciding to live here: Pros: - The modern style of the apartment is really nice. The kitchen in our unit has a lot of storage, which is great if you like to cook! Big windows let in a lot of light. - Laundry in unit, which can be hard to find in Boston - The people who work at the front desk/office/or maintenance are WONDERFUL - really great people who are so friendly and helpful. - It's awesome to have a concierge to hold packages. - garage parking in the building (not free obviously) is awesome especially in the winter - Some nice amenities, including a pool (I only go on weekdays, though - in weekends, the pool is unbearably crowded - see below). - Living above Whole Foods? As AMAZING as it sounds! And there are some other great places in the building, too: Capital One/Peet's Coffee, Fuji (sushi), Sweetgreens, etc. - Overall, the neighborhood is great and accessible to a lot. You're a quick walk to SOWA, tons of parks, Chinatown, etc. If you work in the Financial District you can walk to work in 20 minutes. The Tufts Medical Center Orange Line T stop is less than a 10 minute walk. Tremont Street in the South End is less than a 10 minute walk. Cons: - This is not a quiet place to live (which is the primary reason we're relocating; we have a young child and he is constantly woken up by the noise). On two sides of the building you have highways right below and on two sides are major construction projects that are really loud. Add in the fact that there are several young tenants who party (see below) and many people have dogs here that regularly bark and it can be quite loud. (We got a new neighbor a few weeks ago and their large dog barks at all hours of the night). There's also random other noise, like inexplicably loud hammering at 3am. You can always report this to the concierge but there's often little they can do unless they can find the source (though, again, they're wonderful!) - Understandably, but worth noting, rent is not cheap here. It's market rent (see below) so depending on the unit and when you move in and the length of your lease, your rent will vary. Good to know: - The crowd here seems to lean young, or at least seems to party young. For example: in the summer, the pool is overrun by people and their guests (while you're only supposed to have 2 guests, it doesn't seem enforced), and largely feels like a frat party. Similarly, I've seen tenants who party in the hallways (e.g., I saw a group that was drunkenly hoverboarding down the hallway while screaming and laughing for hours) or who generally don't take care of the place (e.g., just leaving piles of garbage in the room w/ the trash chute). Mostly, this hasn't bothered us other than the noise. But I think it's good to know :) - I think if you don't understand or don't want to live in a place with market rent, the seemingly random nature of how rent is determined can be frustrating. I.e., it's not going to be like you can really negotiate w/ the people who work in the office downstairs, as the rent is set by a national company. My husband and I decided to change units at the end of our first lease because there was an identical apartment available for a lot less. We know 5 other tenants here and 4 of them moved to a different unit at some point in their living here to get cheaper rent. That could be a pro or a con, depending on what's available/if you're okay moving halfway through living here/if you'd rather pay a possible increase in rent just to stay in your apartment.
