If you've read some of my recent posts, my wife and I have been taking short day trip hikes to local waterfalls. This was a trip to the Sweet Home, Oregon area to hike McDowell Creek Falls. (Highly recommend the falls hike). On our way, we stopped at The Point, just outside of Sweet Home. Not much to look at from the outside and kind of a diner atmosphere inside. Somewhere, I read you had a "view" to the water. As you can see from the picture, it's a view (sort of) to Foster Reservoir. OK. However, the food and service were surprisingly good! I ordered the special of the day, a Chipotle Burger. Cooked perfectly with 1/3 lb local beef patty, bacon, chipotle sauce, lettuce, red onion and accompanied by some very good fries. My wife had the grilled cheese and it was awesome as well. Her only complaint was it had too much bacon. Yes, you heard that right, too much bacon. I also have been trying NA beers and the only brand I have found I like is Deschutes out of Bend. They had a Golden that I hadn't heard of and it was, in true Deschutes fashion, very good. Our server was Becky and she was amazing. She greets the regulars by name, was very helpful and informative, but not too chatty. If we were in this area again, we would definitely go back. The staff are very accommodating to your needs. They are friendly, professional, and very informative. The homemade tartar sauce was phenomenal against the grilled halibut sandwich. The small pieces were the only drawback. Sweet potato fries rounded out our meal. Melted marshmallows with some cinnamon or pumpkin spice would have been a great accompaniment with the sweet potato fries. Dessert was their luscious coconut cream pie. The crust was crunchy, pie itself was smooth and just slid down your throat into belly heaven. A must try for sure! Atmosphere was calm with a few other diner. Flies swirled about overhead in the main dining room and saw cobwebs hanging on a lamp by the window. read more

Gorgeous view for sure Hibiscus mimosa: cute looking drink. Not very memorable in flavor. It's mimosa. Deep fried pickle: the crispy part is really good. Picke was shaved pretty thin. But most of them is floppy under the top layer Umami chicken wings: more of a sweet spicy flavor. Kinda like buffalo mix sweet-spicy sauce. Not my preferred flavor Bread is huge and warm Clam chowder is hot and heart warming Pork bucco: very big chunk of pork shank. Super tender and a bit smoky. Pesto Flavor is simple but effective. Maine Lobster and jumbo prawn fettuccine: surprisingly a whole tail of lobster and several big shrimp. Unfortunately the lobster is way over cooked. Feels like I'm eating rubber and stuck in my teeth. Flavor is good though. Very creamy. Marianberry cobbler: warm and sweetsour flavor. Pretty dense and good amount. Waitress is very nice and helpful. read more

There are a few things to be said. I have been here 3 times now and everytime the service just keep poking my point towards the 3 stars. It takes a minute to just simply get water. Never the less to put your order in. Once my food was put in front of me I never see the servers till they notice I am ready to pay and just leave. Not i purchased a sandwich almost burnt is not the most pleasant meal. As well ordering a bottle of wine and to not even get a clean glass of wine to drink from thats not quite what I wanted for my lunch. Never the less to say a almost $60 lunch Not impressed. Might think about coming back sometime in the future. As well maybe a paper bag for a to go bottel not the best idea. Not very classy. read more

I am not really sure what the hype is about this place. The views are meh as you sit across from hwy to see a sliver of Foster lake , right next to the busy road. The food is meh, nothing to be excited about. We had the Kobe burger, ok enough and the sweet potato fries, limp. We also had onions rings which were mostly ok but 2 were undercooked and inedible ($10). We opted to eat outside since the inside smelled old and moldy. So yeah, not going out of my way to stop here. read more

I wish I could give 6 stars. My husband and I had a lovely meal at The Point last night. Our waitress was SO kind and quick! We were seated in a booth with a lovely lake view l, which was very comfortable and romantic. We had a DELICIOUS appetizer, the pickle chips. The fried pickles were just perfect! The only thing I would change is that I wish there were more pickles and lest fries! The pickles are thinly sliced with a very light breading and a refreshing tart sauce. HIGHLY recommend! I'm not a huge fried pickle person, but this is an instant favorite! We kicked off our meal with complementary bread which is probably the best restaurant bread I've had in a long time! Light, fluffy, and flavorful. I would go just for the bread. For dinner my husband had the Jalapeño Mac and cheese which he said was amazing. I am lactose intolerant so I will take his word for it. I had a lettuce wrap all American burger with a side of potato salad. I LOVED my burger! The sauce was delicious! U ended up using my left over sauce on the toast from my husbands plate lol. It was THAT good! I think the American burger would be better with cheese if you are not lactose intolerant, or even lactose free cheese! read more

Good Day my Yelpie Family Welcome to a place that really knows customer service and appreciation. When we showed up the parking lot was full to the brim. But this didn't phase us we still walked in as a dozen of prom teens were headed out.... The Point that I'm going get to here is that this place can keep up with what ever is going on in town and still serve up amazing food with best in class service. While working around a massive about of teens that are excited about their senior prom. The Point Restaurant is an amazing restaurant. We were up looking for places to go for a short trip. I've passed this place when I was up here before and it always looked good so we stopped in. Service is excellent. The food is amazing from the salad, soup, to entrees. And, the bread is just homemade goodness. The view of the lake is breathtaking. It is across the road from the lake but you see a wide view of beautiful blue. I highly recommend The Point Restaurant and would drive up just for the food and view. read more

I enjoyed eating at this restaurant. I had breakfast. The food was good and it seasoned just right for me. I paid $13 for it, and it was worth it. I sat outside which was nice. I had a view of the lake and the beautiful pine trees across the street. The waitress was nice. The food arrival time took awhile. Also, waiting to make the payment took longer than usual. I will go back again. The location, the food, and the price, were all good. I would give it a 5 star rating, if we didn't have the longer waiting times that I mentioned above. read more

I come twice a week. It's my happy place, it helps to keep me sane. They have great, yummy breakfasts and the BEST halibut sandwiches and fish & chips. They are a bit expensive but rightly so. Michael and his girls are simply the best I love THE POINT! read more

I had a great lunch while visiting friends in Lebanon. Sat on the patio with a good view of the lake across the highway. Food was great. One friend had a pickled grilled cheese while two others had salads. I had a great shrimp and crab melt that came with thousand island dressing and fries. BECKY was our waitress and made sure our drink were always filled. She was very personable, professional with a great sense of humor to keep up with a bunch of old Army retirees. Hope the owners are reading this because Becky needs a raise! Wish I lived closer to Lebanon (I drove in from Washington state) because I had my eye on a Bloody Mary that looked like it had a shish kabob on top instead of a cheap piece of celery. Good food, good friends and good service. Can't beat it in my opinion. read more

Incredible food and service for a Sunday breakfast @ The Point Restaurant in Sweet Home, OR.!! First time patrons at a favorite local restaurant. They had plenty of regulars here with standing reservations. It was nice to see some visiting others at tables, etc. Our waitress, Mariah, was outstanding in every way. She was professional, courteous, and attentive. Our meals were so delicious!! They were perfectly, prepared with the freshest quality ingredients. We could taste the flavor of every single vegetable in my omelet, the home fries with peppers & onions, and the bacon and cheese! was so good. This place was recommended to us from a friend and we also found out they purchase their hamburger meat from a local farm! The restaurant itself was aesthetically pleasing, featuring beautiful scenic pictures of Oregon. The booths had big windows with great views of Foster Lake. Tables were good size for larger parties. Located on US Hwy 20, across the road from gorgeous views of Foster Lake, The Point Restaurant in Sweet Home, Oregon serves down home, home made food at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and service is excellent. The menu is HUGE, starting with appetizers like Manila steamed clams, deep fried pickles, green beans, mushrooms, or Mozzarella sticks; there are home made soups & salads, sandwiches, every kind of burger, pasta, and "Comfort Entrees" like chicken-fried steak with white gravy and pork osso bucco. There's a section of the menu called "For Those Special Occasions" where you'll find steak & lobster and prime rib if that's what you crave. Prices are still reasonable too. If you're in the mood for a True American Breakfast, The Point Restaurant has everything your heart desires. This is Big Time logging country and portions are more than generous and served until 11am. Try the biscuits & gravy, eggs Benedict, hand-cut top sirloin Angus steak, every kind of omelette, pancakes, waffles. Oy Vey! You get the idea. It's been said that visitors from all over the United States make special trips to Sweet Home just to enjoy their famous Marion berry cobbler and raisin sour cream pies. We had come to Sweet Home to hunt for Oregon's famous Covered Bridges and needed to fuel up. I opted for the Alaskan Halibut Sandwich ($15): Panko breaded and deep-fried (or grilled) halibut fillet served on a freshly made "pub bun," stacked with lettuce, tomato, red onion and home made tartar sauce. Along side you could have regular fries, sweet potato fries or tater tots. The halibut was fresh and firm and delicious but my regular fries tasted like they had been fried in the same oil as my fish fillet. It wasn't awful but just enough that I noticed it. I might sub a fresh green salad next time. My husband was being the healthier of us and ordered the Fresh Neptune Salad ($25): crisp fresh greens with Dungeness crab meat, shrimp, avocado, tomatoes and hard-boiled egg with a generous side of house made Thousand Island dressing. A large hunk of garlic bread was served along side and he ate every crumb. We each had a glass of wine with our meal. I had a nice Washington State Pinot Gris and he an excellent Oregon Pinot Noir. We chose to sit outside on the patio facing the view of Foster Lake. That's the best seat in the house in my opinion but it can be a little noisy when a logging truck goes rumbling by. It's worth your time to visit The Point if you are able. read more

I have been eating at The Point for as long as I can remember. There are so many things that are my favorite. Biscuits and gravy, Chicken Fried Streak, Chicken Cesar Salad, Sour Cream and Raisin Pie...you name it, it's down home cooking at its finest. I try to eat there a few times a month. As a BIPOC woman I have never felt unwelcome. Michael and his staff have always made my family feel like we were part of his family. Our community and the people who live here, work to create a culture of acceptance regardless of skin tone. It's very hard to read the lens that the last review sees my friends and favorite restaurant with, as I have not experienced that here at all. I would recommend that nobody would be discouraged to stop and eat. The food is hearty, hot and delicious! The people are genuine and caring. We have a really great local treasure in The Point. And the view of the lake is heavenly. read more

Went We took our best friends to breakfast at the point this morning and it was fine, we were quickly seated , our order was taken immediately and everything was fine. We got our breakfast and our tost wasn't tosted so we had to send it back to get toasted. Wanted hash browns crispy but they really weren't. The breakfast was delicious and it was a nice time out. Stopped here this afternoon after driving from Bend and then on to the coast. We had not stopped here for several years but decided to today and boy . . . ARE WE GLAD. The welcome attentive service was excellent. The food was amazingly tasty with more than adequate portions. (We took some with us to our destination, including a fresh baked loaf of bread included with our meals). The dining area is warm and inviting, and the lake views a much added plus. A great place to stop for a sandwich or a bigger meal to or from your drive over the mountains or the coast. We'll definitely be back. read more

This is my first time at the restaurant, and where I threw a friend's baby shower. The staff was so friendly, and allowed us to set up our decorations, and even offered to help. The food tasted very good but I was distracted by the baby shower to determine how a regular meal/service would be here. I had the mozzarella sticks and the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. Had prime rib here. Asked for it to be on the rare side and it was way way over cooked. The wait staff knew when she dropped it off. The owner/manager noticed I wasn't eating it and took it off my plate and brought me another protein. He said he would be taking it off the bill but ended up only taking off half. It was a weird experience. I don't usually complain about food but this was Road kill. You can tell they work hard and we will be back. read more

Came for dinner the night after Thanksgiving. Friday night this place was packed at 6pm. Early food crowd for sure. Ended up ordering jumbo prawns wrapped in bacon, a Carolina Sweet Vodka with Redbull and lemonade to drink and got the chuck wagon sandwich with tater tots. The wife ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and got a strawberry lemonade that consisted of Tito's vodka strawberries, lemonade. The whole experience seemed a bit rushed, not sure ignite as just timing or not, but seemed rushed. The chick wagon sandwich has a 1/2 pound Kobe beef burger with onions and Swiss on a hoagie style roll. The nice thing for me is it also comes with some au jus which is great for a dip. Nice balance of flavor. Added for me the tots and this is quite the tarot meal. The wife's chicken bacon ranch burger was moist and tender and quite flavorful as well. Added with sweet potato fries and she was quite happy. The overall experience was good, this is by far the best place to eat in this town, but I say this as there simply isn't a ton of other choices that are not fast food. read more

Highly recommend The Point. The Halibut was fresh and delicious. The portions are large and filling. We had the Halibut fish and chips, the sampler appetizer, and the seafood combination. We had the clam Chowder with both meals and it comes with fresh bread. The desserts sounded delicious as well, but we had no room left. We also saw the Cobb salads that other people had ordered and they were massive. Highly recommend and worth the drive out. We will be back again!! read more

Food is great, but the bloody Mary's are where it's at. First visit I didn't love the service, but the next visit we went for breakfast... and the server (sure wish I knew her name) made up for the night before. Again... the food is great, but make sure to make reservations. Also if you get food to go, check it to make sure all your food is there. read more
