This is the best spot in Brownsville for friendly service and a great burger! Play a little video poker or some pool. Classic hole in the wall gem in a small town!

Great selection of local beers and ciders to choose from along with a full bar. The pub food is very well prepared by an excellent lil chef who knows her way around the kitchen. Her menu is filled with tasty mouth watering delights. Definitely worth a trip out to.

First time back to the Brownsville Saloon in a few years. Not many food options in Brownsville, but they are all good. I had the Chicken Quesadilla and I was not disappointed. It was yummy and large! I could only eat half of it. My husband had the Chili Dog and he thought it was good as well. I like the atmosphere, it's on the dark side, like a lot of bars, makes it cozy and relaxing. We will come there again. They have pool tables if you like to play pool. The Service was excellent, friendly, helpful, and pretty fast at getting our food. Brownsville is a fun place to walk around and enjoy the small town. Most shops are open on Saturday. It's worth the trip!! :)

So sad to see people abusing Yelp reviews to lower business ratings. If you're going to write a review in two paces, make them the same.

This is a great place for all locals and visitors to enjoy. If it wasn't, people wouldn't be coming back on a daily basis! So many locals consider this their place to enjoy their time. Great staff, great food, LOCAL owners that have lived in town for over a decade. You can see the love and dedication that they put into not only the customer experience, but the staff experience as well. They have made so many changes based on customer suggestions - which is what you do when you as a business owner care about your customers. It is really unfortunate that unhappy people will go out of their way to write false reviews about the owners not being local and that it's a waste of time and money. If this was true, why were they a 40 year patron and why did you recommend it to others? I highly encourage people to compare reviews on other sites - such as google - and see that there are people out there who write false reviews to ruin small businesses.

Happened to be in the Eugene area on my birthday. My Dad knew of the Brownsville Saloon and took us there. Great place with good atmosphere cold beer and music. Janet was great and waited on our table even though they were short staffed and we'd have happily gone to the bar. Try the fried pickles, excellent!

Corn grits with veggies and egg breakfast special
    Jimmie L.

I heard that the Brownsville Saloon was serving breakfasts and had to try it. So my wife, Nancy and I drove out on a Saturday morning. Wow! Great job on those breakfasts! Mine was a corn grits dish topped with veggies and an egg. I had the chef add sausage to mine. The grits were warm and creamy with a little cheese on top, great comfort food! My wife doesn't like grits but she tasted them and thought they were good too. Nancy had the baked french toast special. It was a triple berry bread covered in an eggy batter and baked, like a bread pudding in the oven. It was great too (I snuck a bite). Our sever did a great job of informing us about the specials, making sure we had everything we needed and keeping the coffee cups full! She was also very knolegable about what was going on in the community and directed us to the farmers market for fresh produce. Charming town, great service and good food . . . we will do this one again!

    Pretty Bar!

That being said, the food I got was not very good. I guess I overestimated what an Asian rice bowl coming from a pub in a small town would be like, but it was much too sweet, salty, and overly sauced to the point where it was like eating a bowl of wet rice. I am not a picky person and will usually eat things that aren't my favorite for the sake of not wasting food, but I really struggled with this. I hate writing bad reviews because I know owning a restaurant is hard, but that is my honest opinion about the food. Warning: if you have dogs, there is a huge vine of grapes attached to the fence of the outdoor seating area out front. We moved to a dingy side area to avoid the possibility of our dogs eating a grape. There were cobwebs under the table and a man walked around us to spray pesticides on the weeds in the concrete, while we were eating and while our dogs were standing there. There was a dog water bowl near where he was spraying that we stayed far away from. Service was fine, but overall, a meh experience.

There are plenty of things I was noticing as I looked at the same area of the restaurant again and again. Lots of interesting touches that made it more pub/homey (if that makes any sense). It's definitely a smaller restaurant so come during off hours or I think they might allow for reservations. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. A bit of a limited menu but not putting that against them, as long as the food is good it doesn't matter. Got the pickled eggs and pretzel for the appetizer. The pretzel was standard but the sweet mustard sauce was amazing. Pickled eggs were different but it was the first time I tried them and I'm glad that I did. Give them a try. For mains got the shepherd's pie, sausage and mash, and the firehouse chili. Would recommend the shepherd's pie, the firehouse chili was not my personal favorite sort of chili but it does seem like other reviews liked it, so give it a shot and form your own opinion. I liked the sausage but the mash not so much, more grainy than smooth. If you take nothing else from my review, get the sticky toffee pudding. Very indulgent especially after a heavy meal but it was quickly polished off. Overall, decent food with some gems. Definitely a lot of character to it, and unique for the area.

Honestly, you can choose from any number of places in the Old Town area in Florence. But if you…read morefancy a fabulous burger, other great food options, or maybe a cold craft beer, then Beachcomber might just be your spot. One thing to bear in mind is that this is still a BAR: that means no one under the age of 21 may cross the threshold. But, if weather allows, anyone of any age can sit outside. Beachcomber has several picnic tables set up, a few with umbrellas as they extended seating to the street, and that makes for a comfortable dining option in fair weather. There are a number of constant taps as well as seasonal/rotated local offerings. If you're an Untappd user, like me, then you can even check their beer options on the app ahead of time, or sign in while you're there so you can nerd out whilst enjoying your beer. I'm a sucker for anything malty, and when in a phenomenal beer-producing area like the PNW, then you will have plenty of Oregon/Washington choices. Fresh-hopped beer hits different when you're near the source. The burgers dot the menu, but do not miss the onion rings. These things are like beer-battered life preservers, so you probably will want to share because it's a HUGE pile of food. We've had burgers & other sammiches, but this past time I dove in for the highlighted Green Donkey. Well, 'we' dove in, because it's another enormous portion and sharing was the smart play. A marriage of beef & beans smothered in their queso and guac makes for a fantastic (albeit filling) lunch. I washed that down with a Pineapple Mana Wheat from Maui Brewing, a gently-hopped, light-bodied ale with that fruity finish. OK, so it's not 'local' but it is 'seasonal' and it's a great glass of bier. Service inside or out is quick and friendly, and they'll always offer a suggestion to fit your food or beer palate. I love doing local and Beachcomber represents that local anchor that is befitting of anyplace that has survived over three decades. You're on your own for parking, but there is a public lot a block or so away, plus you get a chance to window shop along the way. Beachcomber is 100% worth the stop, even if it's just to get off your feet, but enjoy the fare as well.

I'm fairly certain someone started smoking while we were there because the smell got stronger out of nowhere. Bathrooms were dingy and graffitied. Bar full of what looked like regulars.
