I've been waiting years to try this place for prime rib. Tonight we went there as a special occasion! My wife and I each ordered 8oz prime rib. $27 each, with absolutely no sides at all. Fries, etc were an additional $4. Service was slow but they did appear busy with a group in back. The building was freezing, well maybe 60 degrees, and everyone was wearing coats while trying to dine. The meat portions arrived and were very thin, but probably the advertised 8oz. Both were only slightly warm and one consisted of fat comprising a good 25% of the portion. These prices would be expected in a place that was warm, had good ambiance and didn't hand you a fork wrapped in a cheap paper napkin and foil wrapped butter packets to dress your potato. The atmosphere is rustic with open beam ceilings, wood plank floors, western/pioneer decor on the walls, & plenty of deer & elk heads to boot. Just had the absolute best brisket tacos I've ever had in my three decades of life. My goodness. I'm still drooling over how delicious they were. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's our third or fourth time making the trip and the food is always amazing. The atmosphere is so lovely, too. Service is slow but steady. I would rather give your restaurant high marks and say that the whole experience was worth it. However you're charging Portland/Eugene prices to Brownsville area customers. Your attitude to the customer seems to lack good business discernment as well. It looks like by the lack of customers during dinning hours we are not alone in our opinion. The food here is amazing! Smoked prime rib on Fridays, bbq'd pork belly, ribs, excellent bbq sauce home made and will challenge anyone to find a better taco anywhere that the brisket tacos made here. Drinks are excellent. Gets a little crowded on Wednesdays so get there early. They open for lunch conch through dinner on Saturdays, yay! Atmosphere is very unique and historic. Outside seating for summer as well. I've never seen someone put so much in to making sure everyone has a good time as Bailey the floor manager. The cook and bbq person goes above and beyond. So much potential though, lots of space. The Cabin inside the restaurant is cool and a great way to preserve history. Don't pay much attention to the website. This place is ridiculously good! After a day of hiking we randomly stopped here to grab some food. In looking at the menu it was so hard to decide because it all sounded good. We decided on the spicy cheddar flat bread and we each got a burger. The waitress recommended a beer for my friend- and it was perfect. The flat bread was beyond good- I didn't want to stop eating it. Perfectly cooked and so flavorful. Then the burgers came out. 1) this is a GIANT patty, and it was cooked all the way through which I was impressed with- because as thick as it was, I was sure it'd be super pink in the middle. 2) crinkle cut sweet potato fries. Crinkle cut are undisputedly the best kind of fry, and they were delicious. 3) the burger flavors were spot on. Everything tasted fresh and was seasoned well 4) the portions are huge! You could easily split a burger, and for he price it's a great deal! This place is worth driving to from Eugene, it's that good! All that came up was this random spot on YELP in Brownsville and holy $hit was this place fantastic. All I can say is go. Best ribs I've ever had in my life. The sides were fantastic. My wife had the ribeye and loved it as well. The atmosphere and vibe was unreal. Live music to boot. Somehow he built a building around a the original 1800s trading post that is preserved. So cool. It did take a long while to come out, which would have been alright if not for the the glaring issue.....the service!!!! First server came to take drink order and she was not very nice at all and pretty snippy! Second server was much nicer and took the food order and then nothing!! Never came back to check if we needed drink refills and once the food came by the food runner, never showed up to see if we got everything or needed everything. Had to go find someone to see about getting refills and water and even that took so long we just left! Something's gone horribly wrong since the last people posted their reviews. Brownsville was bustling today but not many people were visiting Kirk's - this probably should have been our first red flag. Ordered an appetizer - potato skins. Placed order for a margherita pizza before the appetizer arrived. Bad timing - appetizer served and not 2 minutes later, the pizza arrived. Then we never saw wait staff again until the bill was presented. The skins were ok - not delicious. The pizza was terrible: cold cheese, cold tomatoes, undercooked crust, and the sauce was bland. When the bill was presented and the server asked if we wanted the leftovers boxed up, we told her no because it was not good and relayed our complaints (see above). Her reply: Sorry the pizza wasn't good for you guys. She then laid the bill on the table and left. Don't even think about going here!! read more

With a 3.5 star rating, we weren't sure about heading here at first, but I am so glad we did! The one star rating keeping this place down are almost all from years ago and I would recommend anyone give this place a try. Here's a quick rundown: It's very aesthetically pleasing. There is a great backstory about the building but most of the place is updated with great little accents all over. It has a rustic feel with a modern twist. We really enjoyed the ambiance. There is indoor and outdoor seating, or you can sit at the bar. Our visit was for lunch, but there is a dance floor and pool table in the back, so my bet is that in the evenings and on the weekends, the place gets hopin'. There were only a few other customers when we were there and I liked that. Our server was a cute little thing with personality but I don't believe she ever gave us her name. The wait was longer than expected for the food, considering the place was practically empty, but when it did arrive, it made us forget all about the wait. Now, for the food! I had the Summit Grange Grilled Cheese. which was a grilled cheese sandwich with a mixture of 3 cheeses and some tomato slices. They used parmesan to make a delicious crust over the sandwich. I was impressed by the presentation and the taste. The fries were delicious and cooked to perfection. My boys had burgers; one was a bourbon burger and I think the other was bleu cheese. They both loved them. The flavors were rich and delectable and the prices were outstanding for such gourmet quality taste and presentation. One of our orders had fries instead of the onion rings we asked for and that was a bit disappointing but since we had waited so long for the order, we didn't ask them to correct it, but that won't stop me from coming back. I also loved that the drinks were served in chilled mason jars. They hit the spot on a warm summer day.... I highly recommend stopping by. read more

My fiance and I wanted a good steakhouse for our Birthday dinner. I did a search online and found Kirk's Ferry and it sounded perfect for our special dinner, and it WAS!! We walked in at 4:45 giving us a bit of time to have a drink before their dinner service at 5pm on a Saturday night. We are SO glad we were there early since there was a line at the door as we were leaving around 6:30. He ordered the 16oz Rib Eye and I ordered the Ribs. Both were OUTSTANDING. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare while the Ribs were fall off the bone. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back and can't wait to bring our friends and family with us. read more

I've been going to Kirk's since it was built. It used to be the best place in town, but has gone downhill the last two years. We've gone here a few times this year and have had terrible experiences each time. They have cut staff and hours, and the overall dine-in experience is not what it used to be. The first time we went this year, the staff lost our card that we left with them because we wanted to leave our tab open. They gave us back somebody else's card. It took them about 10 minutes to find ours and then they didn't even apologize or offer any discount when they finally found it in the kitchen. We didn't leave our tab open on our next visits. Another time, it took forever to get our food and they didn't serve us our appetizers until after our main course arrived. Food was subpar. Next time our burgers were so burnt and dry. Drinks were (and always are) great. Tonight was the last straw and our last time dining in at Kirk's. They were out of basic ingredients and the server/cashier was not knowledgeable about what they did or did not have. After ordering, paying (way too much), we promptly received our food and drinks. Unfortunately, we had to pay and tip before we even sit down. The food was good, but they gave us blue cheese instead of ranch and then questioned me when I told them it was the wrong dressing. Server took my salad (that had half the toppings) and did not bring a replacement or offer a refund for the mixup. Server said she would check in with the kitchen and never came back. The bartender came to check on us and we told her the same thing. She actually did check and came back with ranch, apologizing for the mixup. Kudos to the bartender! Unfortunately this was our last visit to our (previously) favorite restaurant in town. TLDR: Service is not good. Staff are not knowledgeable or organized. Food is too overpriced. Quality is not consistent. Will not be returning after being a customer since Kirk's opened. read more
