My go-to for quick, inexpensive, decent coffee in Ridgecrest! Pony Espresso is mainly a drive thru, with a small walk-up window and outdoor seating area. Great place to stop for coffee on your way to work. Service is quick and everyone is always friendly! I usually just get coffee but they have a variety of smoothies and frappuccino-style drinks as well. Prices are super reasonable at only $4 for a latte. Would recommend to anyone staying in town who wants something better than hotel breakfast coffee at a good price. read more

Was passing through on Highway 395 and badly needed coffee as I was only 1.5 hrs into an 8.5 hr drive. This page popped up as a fast, convenient drive through that I could access quickly and then get back on the highway. The prices were very low as far as coffee goes these days, and the building from the outside looked quite nice (couldn't see inside as it was drive thru only). The baristas were very pleasant, and accommodated my request to use my own cup. I ordered a dirty chai. After a mix-up where I didn't realize I was getting more shots than I expected, I finally received my drink. It was amazing. The drink was rich and the chai flavorful. It was exactly the pickup I needed. I wish this coffee shop was located in Sacramento, because I would give them my business every chance I could. For now, I'll make sure to incorporate stops into any trips I make down the 395 in the future. read more

The fruit smoothies was so good, very smooth, creamy and thick but not too sweet like other place. You can choose whatever fruit they have available so I picked everything but raspberries. Next time I will include raspberries. Will definitely come back. read more

This is actually my favorite coffee shop in Ridgecrest. They are always so nice and helpful. I always get the White Chocolate Mocha Hot and a Strawberry peach refresher. This used to be my favorite place in town but lately every time I go the young teenage girls that work there are incompetent and don't seem to listen and always get my drinks wrong or the size. It was our first time and the menu is minimalist, no explanations, so we said we were interested in smoothies and asked about something called the "sunrise". The first young lady who met us at our car window must have been new because an older lady jumped in to answer my questions with an annoyed tone and would not make eye contact with me. Such a strange interaction. We got a mango smoothie and a mango lemonade refresher. The mango smoothie was super thick and the kids couldn't believe how good it was. Excellent coffee and shakes. The girls are usually friendly and knowledgeable. I love the big Tom shake because it's enough for two people and it's made with real fruit. First of all, we've going there for years despite the mainly rude staff... I even always leave a tip... but most importantly I've been contaminated with real milk on several occasions after paying for almond milk. The last time I went will be the last time I go. I was so sick and to boot they don't have wrapped straws so they touch the straws with their bare hands after touching money and multiple surfaces. I never leave bad reviews but I've absolutely had it after being so sick yet again.... The owner doesn't seem to care. It's 4 people's business you'll be losing... sorry not sorry. read more

They are extremely overpriced. I got a small white mocha and small blender Carmel with two pup cups and it was $13.00. They charge you for the pup cups then fill the entire iced coffee with ice so you barley get any coffee. Your better off going to Starbucks or Dutch bros to get more bang for your buck. The blended Carmel tasted like tooth paste. The small amount of the white mocha I had was good just wish there was actually a decent amount instead of all ice. read more

Wow, wow, wow. At the window I asked the girl what was in the Pony Expresso listed in the blended drink menu. She said it's a chocolate shake with shots of expresso. Gotta try that. I ordered the Big Tom size and paid. She brought my change and asked if I wanted whipped cream. That would be a Yes. Probably within less than two minutes she handed this huge dense drink to me in a clear plastic tall glass with domed plastic lid and straw. The whipped cream was not white. It matched the chocolate shake and was dense as well. So delicious! With occasional traces of coffee taste as I sipped using the straw. Excellent! Thank you ladies! This was such a pleasant surprise. Stayed the night in Ridgecrest , needed a boost to get me going. Found this little gem. Staff was friendly , I got an Americano for my wife and a red eye for myself. I'm from OC so I'm a little spoiled when it comes to great coffee. I wouldn't recommend the Americano if you like Americanos .... instead get the red eye it's much closer to an REAL AMERICANO. The Pony Espresso on the Cerro Coso campus is PAINFUL! It's always the same lady working by herself and the service is extremely slow. She never uses gloves when preparing sandwiches and digs her bare hands into the big bag of chips for your order. For all of your drinks she will find a way to smush her fingertips into your straw or mouth piece of your hot cup lid. Please for the love of god let people insert their own straws! She literally puts her finger on the tip of the unwrapped straw to jam it into your lid! Or she'll pull a sticker off the sheet onto her entire thumb, then peel the sticker off her thumb and place it over the mouth of the hot lid! Whyyyyy??? Please stop!!! And now the entire menu board has been written over with black pen because all the prices have increased. read more

Sweetest employees I've ever encountered on top of the best blended coffees you could get. A bit pricey, but worth it all the way. I've been a loyal customer for the past 5yrs and I wouldn't have it any other way. All their drinks aren't overly sugary and allow for you to enjoy the coffee flavor. We love this place! My son and I are currently working in Ridgecrest ( from SD). We started going to this coffee shop because we loved the name. Now we go because we love the coffee and the people that work there. Always friendly and welcoming! They know what we like but aren't afraid to suggest new things. Who would have thought that raspberry in coffee is delicious? Now that the job is starting to wrap up and we'll be headed home, we will miss this place. Going to Pony Espresso is a very important staple of my daily routine. I really love coming here; not just for the tasty drinks but for the employees as well! A few weeks ago, I came here and got my usual (a large watermelon iced tea) and one of the baristas named Liz said it was on her!
