Love this place. My pup goes here weekly for doggy day care. She gets so excited when we pull up and she knows where we are. The staff is always very nice. Pickup and drop off are quick and easy. My partner and I have used the doggie day care services of Pooch Pad for about two years now. My dog seems to love everyone at Pooch Pad. Overall I am very pleased with their services, prices and customer treatment. I did not give them 5 stars because on one occasion my dog was seriously hurt while at the Pooch Pad. Another dog tore a 5 inch gash which turned into a large hole into my dog. The pooch pad was very responsive to the situation and the other dogs owner took financial responsibility for the situation. Nonetheless, deep inside I still wonder how this was allowed to happen. read more

My lab is a very social dog. When I lived outside of Houston he did not enjoy daycare. He would run after my car and even figured out how to open the doors and go play with people. My job requires me to be at work for long hours and I often feel bad leaving him alone. When we moved to Houston, I decided to try daycare one more time before pursuing some of the more expensive options (dog walker etc). What a difference the Pooch Pad makes. Jake LOVES going to daycare, a mere mention of the word "Pooch Pad" in my house and Jake is at the back door ready to jump in the car. When I drop him off he cannot WAIT to be unleashed and go wait at the backdoor to go outside and play with the other dogs. Despite having a high volume of dogs, the Pooch Pad is one of the cleanest places I have been. I have never seen a mess or smelled an odor since being there. The staff at Pooch Pad know dogs and understand dogs occasionally need a "time out" and do a great job of giving dogs their own space before reintroducing them into the play group pack. As mentioned in other reviews, the price is great as well - but to me, having a dog eager to go to day care twice a week is the most important part. When we have utilized the grooming services, Jake comes home well bathed with nicely trimmed nails. They also wait until the end of the day to bathe Jake so he can make the most of his playtime before getting clean! These people LOVE dogs and make it clear from the time you drop off until you pick up. The first time I took Jake to play, I forgot to mention he had cut himself playing too rough with another dog at the park the week before. As soon as I got to work, I had a phone call making sure I knew about the cut and inquiring if the cut had been there before. The attention to detail and care for animals is why we LOVE this place. Each time Jake goes to daycare, he could not get there quick enough and is always eager to sit and get his treat at the end of each day. I am BEYOND lucky to have such a great spot so close to my home and work! read more

I am very disappointed with the Pooch Pad. I have been bringing my dog in for grooming appointments over the last 6-8 months, but this last time was the last time she will ever be back. Strike one was when we went to pick my dog up and they couldn't find her...she had been accidentally locked in the bathroom without them knowing for who knows how long! Strike two was when I went to pick her up and she was in a cage! I specifically chose the Pooch Pad because it is supposed to be "cage free." The third strike was the fact that they cut my dog's stomach with the razor and then took no accountability for it when we brought it up. In fact, the owner yelled at us for bringing it up! We will certainly not be back to the Pooch Pad. There are plenty of other nicer grooming/boarding facilities in Houston to choose from. read more

My shih-poo came outta this place grinning like the cheshire cat. She seemed to have had a good time while we were out of town. She gulped down a ton of water when we got home and threw up twice, but i think she was just really excited. She tends to yak when she over-exerts herself. I have boarded her at a different place before and i'm pretty sure she was pissed at me for it, because they brought her out and she barely wagged her tail. "F you mom" or something. She was very happy when I got her today, I like how they spend very little time being kenneled and are given staff attention (my girl was shaky and nervous at first). read more

Love this place! They let the dogs play all day long, and at night they go in their individual kennels. They also get comfy, freshly washed bedding at night and plenty of toys. When I've boarded my dog at other places (even the ones where I've bought the extra expensive playtimes), she's weird when I pick her up. All of you who've boarded your animals know what I'm talking about! But when I pick her up after boarding her at The Pooch Pad, she's just my regular ol' Maya Papaya. Well, except for the fact that she's exhausted from all the fun she's had, and she sleeps for about 2 days straight after she gets home (which is a GOOD thing). They've also been super accommodating with my crazy schedule and having to change pick-up and drop-off times. read more

I was a bit hesitant to leave my little furbaby at a doggy-daycare, but my worries vanished as soon as I stepped foot inside of the pooch pad! They are awesome, and take great care of my little one. She always seems so excited on the mornings I drop her off, she leaps out of my car and runs up to the front gate..which is not in her natural character due to her being a pug :). They even give a discount for using cash!! It always smells clean when I walk in, and I never see any dogs acting sad or nervous. Great place, would recommend to anyone! read more

Can Your Dog Smile? My Dog Phoebe smiles when we go to the Pooch Pad in the morning. Her tail wags when the car rounds the corner and she impatiently waits for the car to stop. She picks up the scent of the other dogs that arrived ahead of her as soon as she jumps out of the car. The way she is greeted and the way she reacts to the staff says so much to me about whether she wants to be there or not. The first dog daycare we used before that was fine until my dog started coming back with torn collars and other signs that told us that she wasn't being watched as closely as we would have liked. The Pooch Pad staff thinks of the dogs as "their" dogs and they treat them that way. The Pooch Pad has a wonderful outside area for larger dogs and a separate one for the smaller ones. During the "dog days of summer" they set up pools to play in and make sure they are hydrated. During the day they has some inside rest time and when it rains they have a place outside that is covered, We - my dog Phoebe and I- love this place. Our Weimaraner and Bloodhound stay with hthe pooch pad when my fiancee and I head out of town, or go out for an extended date. "The girls" (as we call our dogs- haha) always come back refreshed and happy from all the play time! it truly is a oasis in the city for these pack animals... Very smooth operation! when we first rescured our high energy Boston Terrier, i took her to four different places to look for a good boarding and doggie daycare. Three of the places she didn't even want to go in to the door. When we got to The Pooch Pad she was excited from the start all the dogs was out playing she couldn't wait to get out there.The big dogs are separated from the small ones and they pay close attention as nessary. I haven't had any concerns about my dogs well being she still loves to go. The staff always makes us both feel very welcome, the place is always clean and smells very good i highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a place where they can be assured there furry friends are being well taken care of. read more

I have been taking my dog to the pooch pad for several months and I was a little skeptical at first because of a bad review but it has been a wonderful experience. I met the owner once and she was a very nice woman. There is a new manager there who is the nicest Latin woman I have ever met. I tried the grooming once as I am on a fixed income and they really took care of my " baby"!!! And it was affordable. read more

My dog has gone here for a while now and I find the staff is nice and pleasant, however, on 3 separate occasions the staff has not shown up on time or they decided to close and not tell anyone! The first 2 times they gave me some lame story that I believed but this last time I had made reservations to board my dog and explained I would be dropping him off on the way to the airport. This happens to be the same day that no one showed up to open the place. I waited for an hour and called over and over. I missed my flight trying to find another facility to board my dog at. When I returned from my trip and discussed it with the lady at the front she could care less. I explained this was the 3rd time they have not opened up. She said "stuff happens" Stuff does happen, I took my dog and my money elsewhere! read more

My dogs have been customers of Pooch Pad for 4 years. I have not once been disappointed by their service. I have referred many dog owners to this place either for grooming, daycare or boarding. They have all been very happy. Earlier this year, my dog was volunteering with Citizens for Animal Protection at the Dog Show at Reliant. Now we all know that this is the place where you see the best pedigrees, best grooming. But we have passerby coming up and complementing my dog's beautiful haircut and wanting to know where she got that done. For that to happen, it speaks a lot about how good her groomer is. My dog is 11 now, I will only send her to a place that is kind to her. This is my dog's favorite place and she is totally bonded with her groomer. We have tried 4 different groomers before finding this place. I understand that everyone has different expectation on how we dog owners should be treated but the bottom line is how well your dogs are treated. I trust Pooch Pad 120%. read more

The employees' behavior is absolutely deplorable! I boarded my dog here for a quick trip and it was hands down the worst experience I have had with pet care and customer service in general. When I went to pick up my dog from Pooch Pad the gate was locked and was not able get a hold of anyone by phone (this was during their Saturday business hrs of 2-4). Got a hold of someone around 4:45 and was told I had to wait until the next day at 5 to pick her up, even though I did everything in my power to get her during the business hrs (The excuse for no one answering the phone was that the lines act up when they are on the internet.......?) I dealt with two different women and they were both unbelievably rude. I showed up a little early the next day, around 4:55. My dog saw me pull up and started whining so I decided to say hello and try to calm her down. I was then yelled at to get away from the gate, had the gate door slammed and locked in my face, and was told they did not open until 5 (it was literally 4:58). She even argued with me about the color of my leash. I was left shocked and disgusted by the time we got in the car. If the horrendous service doesn't make you think twice, the dogs are kept in crates most of the time. They have 1 room used for daycare (small breed) and 1 filled with crates. There are 2 small areas outside but the few times I have been there I have only seen 2 dogs in the yard, 1 including my dog when we went to pick her up. Please, please look elsewhere for any pet needs. read more
