Fun. Over priced drinks, but it's at the Rosewood on Sand Hill so wouldn't expect anything less.

Food / Drink 5 Service 4…read more Ambiance 5 I don't understand these reviews. This is a pub, pure and simple. It's an excellent pub at that. Pre-pandemic I worked in downtown Palo Alto. I and others on my team were regulars here. Food: TBH, it's all about the deviled eggs. The menu is tiny, and traditional pub fair. They aren't trying to be fancy and they aren't trying to earn any Michelin stars. They're delivering exactly what you should come to expect here and places like it. I respect any place that pours a proper pint. They also have a fine selection of bourbon, whiskey, and scotch. This is not the place for mixologists and craft cocktails. This is the place for people who know what they want to drink and actually enjoy the alcohol. Service: I was there around 4:30 - 5 o'clock and there were only a couple people at the bar. It looked like it could have been a shift change. Clearly the bartenders knew regulars. However, they didn't seem to be very interested in chatting up any new customers. My guess is they did not build this regular clientele, but rather inherited it. I grew up in the industry and was behind the bar for about 12 years. Yes, I learned all the fancy drinks and had an amazing cadre of condiments including those fancy little umbrellas. This is the kind of place where I would prefer to work myself. The kind of place where community comes together and good bartenders remind us all that pubs have long been in the business of solving the loneliness crisis and building friendships.

The space felt warm and inviting--even outdoors. Every wine recommendation was uniquely delightful, and the charcuterie and cheese selection was simply incredible. They cater incredible boards and more, offer both great indoor and outdoor spaces, and create the perfect setting for meetings and events. I wish I didn't have to write this review, but this was my first and definitely my last visit to…read morethis BevMo location on Saturday, 8/1 approx 1:45pm. The cashier, a woman with very short dark brown curly hair with a mask who I believe is named Amy, was extremely rude from the moment I asked for help. I asked if they had any more hazy IPA beers, and with a dismissive attitude she told me that whatever was in the fridge was all they had. I then asked if they had beer rotations and whether customers were allowed to go into the back to choose their own beer because other similar places like Total Wine provides this option. She responded with an attitude, saying, "You're not a worker, so no, you cannot go back there!" After that, I walked away because I didn't want to continue dealing with her. Thankfully, a male employee stepped in and provided the kind of customer service you would expect at a place like BevMo. He was polite, helpful, and immediately told me there were more hazy IPAs in the back aisle--something Amy never mentioned. I continued to browse other aisles because my sister asked for a Macallan and then I see the female cashier following me. Maybe she thought I stealing? If Amy is the employee I think she is, it's disappointing to see this isn't an isolated issue. Regardless, the employee who assisted me needs customer service training. Being dismissive, rude, and talking down to customers is unacceptable. One helpful employee saved the interaction, but it wasn't enough to change my overall experience. I won't be returning to this location.

I was offered help and directed to chat with Aaron in the Mariners cap. I showed him a photo of my wife's favorite wine and said, "She loves this, but isn't a big wine drinker, so I'm looking for something she'll like that isn't $40 a bottle." He turned and walked straight over to a particular bottle and handed it to me. "Very similar, even has some of the same words on the label, and is only $20." I see from the label that it's specifically imported by them. Then I picked out a bottle of southern Italian red that got great reviews on Vivino. At checkout, Aaron kind of pulled it away from me and shook his head. Then he went and picked out a Sicilian one. I haven't tried either yet, but I really like this kind of service. This is what I need to refine what I like most. I expect to come back here with an update.

Seriously? The global wine market is collapsing, but K&L won't condescend to provide basic customer service. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere.
