Stopped by for lunch. I was looking for some peace and quiet, so I ate outside, despite the 100 degree heat. It's quite a nice "porch" environment; it has a backyard feel with picnic-like furnishings, there was free wifi, and I felt comfortable taking out my laptop and answering a few emails. The hostess and waitress (Jordan, I think) were both super friendly and efficient, and the food came really quickly. I had a poke bowl, which tasted nice and fresh. It's quite a large portion. We still have high rates of transmission in the area and not enough people have been vaccinated yet for this to be safe. They have a sign up that they have special air handling but that's not enough yet in a crowded environment. We've been to the Arcadia location before but the Tempe one is lacking SEVERELY. Our server was Nina. They were maybe at 50% capacity and we only saw our server maybe once every 45 minutes. What should have been an hour or so in total took nearly 3 hours. We didn't get our food until an hour and a half in and had to go to the bar to get our drinks that were sitting ready. We had our first date at the Porch in Arcadia and we just got engaged last night so we wanted to celebrate with brunch at the Porch. We stopped in here on a Saturday evening and while business seemed to be picking up, our bartender was still kind and efficient, taking care of our every need. I can't speak for the rest of the staff, as we were only helped by one gentleman. The food was delicious and the drinks, albeit a bit pricey, were worth the cost. My wife and I each had enough food to take home for lunch the following day, which is always a plus too. I wish we had caught the bartender's name because he was the best part of our visit. Unfortunately we didn't have a good visit despite all the good reviews. We went in on Sunday evening and waited for a table for 30 min. No problem, the usual wait for a restaurant on a weekend. We were then escorted to a high top table by the hostess. We waited about 15/20 min for someone to come by, but never did. No one came to greet us or get drink orders or anything. Did anyone even know were here?! We had to go ask another employee who's section we were in because no one ever came over! We were lucky enough Jake helped us out! He was kind enough to apologizes for greet us (I don't even think he was a waiter! He seemed to be working in the back kitchen) but he brought us water right away and then just took our orders to get us started even though we weren't even his table. I saw him talking to the waitress for the section and she rolled her eyes when he said he was covering for her, and mentioned we were sat at her section. Obviously she never came to our table and Jake just took care of us. We ordered the appetizer platter first- which had a variety, but the chips were hella stale!!! Like they didn't even have a crunch and were kinda soft. Did not appreciate that, nor the fact the apps were fairly cold. Sad. I don't think we even received all the apps listed for the platter! We then waited another 50 minutes for our entrees to even arrive! And they weren't even brought out at the same time. Half our party finished their food before the other half of the table even received our food. Sad. We got the chicken tenders, which were pretty crispy and burnt. Absolutely not. Never again. We've visited this location a few times, the food/service is never great, but my daughter wanted to celebrate an achievement and chose The Porch for dinner. We ordered our meals and once the food arrived, my daughters boneless wings were too spicy. We asked if there was a less spicy flavor and our server, Christina, offered to have the kitchen remake them. It was a busy evening, so she let us know it would be about 10-15 minutes before they could get them out to us. We thanked her and waited patiently for her food to come out. Once my daughters food arrived, we had all pretty much finished our food and were waiting on her to eat. She ate a few wings and then we asked for boxes and our check. Christina brought the boxes and as we were putting the food away, we discovered the wings were undercooked and raw in the middle. We brought it to Christina's attention and her response was that we should have told her sooner so she could take it off the check. She was rude and short and when I approached her to ask if there was a problem, she snapped saying she was going to speak to her manager about it. She brought us a new check, rudely told us they took half off the price and turned around to walk away. I requested to speak to her manager as I couldn't understand why she was giving us attitude. When the manager approached, his explanation for the undercooked chicken was there is a disclaimer on their menu and the kitchen was very busy tonight. We are absolutely disgusted with Christina's attitude toward serving my 12 year old undercooked chicken. She was unprofessional and rude for something completely out of our control. I'm not sure how we could have brought it to her attention any sooner than the moment we discovered it. We will not go back again. read more
