Excellent as usual. I typical don't get here this early in the week, but when I'm in the area I do what I can to have lunch here. Today was a good day to swing by.. Had the Tuesday special (2 chicken tinga . The chips are little heavy with salt, could be me, I don't add salt to anything. The are good, just not my flavor for tacos, again that's a me issue, I did like them, they're just more of a BBQish flavor. Service today was slower than typical; sat at the bar as always & it was a tad longer than usual just to get a drink/ menu, about 5 minutes. Other than that, I like this place a lot & the specials are worth it.

Stopped in for early dinner. We were seated immediately and was told our server would start her shift in about 15 mins, in the meantime we received water. I thought that to be awkward and felt we could've been seated in a different area. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat, lots of TVs, great lighting and activities for the kiddies outside. There a huge red chair out front that would be good for photo opportunities. Food was just okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered lemon pepper bone in wings that were good, and a side of salt & pepper fries. I didn't care for them since they are the ones with the extra coating on them to crisp them up. I prefer just a regular uncoated fry. Wings were average in size. Other guest, ordered chicken tenders with mango habanero sauce. They looked overly fried (dark brown) and he said the sauce tasted mostly like mango with a tad of habanero spice. Other guest had the porch pasta with chicken added he said it lacked flavor and needed a little bit more sauce. He ate about half. Not sure I'll be back.

Came across this spot while visiting Arizona for a business trip and the food didn't disappoint ! I got the chicken sandwich and I loved how crispy the chicken was cooked and the flavoring was perfect. I really liked their fries. Really cute spot the patio area with the swinging seats and the large patio games available.

I was torn between 5 and 4-stars. This is a great spot for kids. Giant connect 4, giant swings and giant chairs within the enclosed space so your kids enjoy a playful ambiance while you enjoy your food and maybe drank! I neglected to photograph all that, but it's there. The server was responsive and generous. My only gripe was the prices, but probably because I was born in the 80s.

Stopped in for dinner before going to a show at Gammage with the family and some friends. I really liked that I could make a reservation which saved us a lot of time. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive which was good. The food was good and the drinks were on point. We lucked out and ended up being there during Happy Hour so that was a plus. The vibes are definitely fun and dinner-esq. We ordered a Big Trouble over Little China drink, fried pickles, and mash cheeseburger with truffle fries, the Hawaiian chicken sandwich, grilled cheese and the macaroni and cheese. Everything was good. Only downside was the extra greasy feel of the grilled cheese. All in all it was a great meal and a fun time. We may be back if in the area again.

I checked out The Porch in Tempe with a big group for lunch on a Friday. I'm talking 30 people or so. We sat at two hightop tables and a booth in the bar area. Parking is easy in their complimentary lot, even when it's busy. They share the space with several other businesses including a movie theater. Service (4.5/5): Taking care of a large group, especially one that is drinking adult beverages, is no easy task. Our waitress did a fantastic job. She was attentive, friendly, and offered recommendations. She forgot about one of my drink orders, but totally understandable as she was serving 30 of us at once. Ambiance (4/5): My kind of spot. Casual, comfy, clean, and spacious. Tables, booths, high tops, and seating at the bar. The type of watering hole where you can kick back, enjoy some drinks, while also having solid food for more of a bar-focused restaurant. Drinks (5/5): I was impressed. They have an extensive cocktail list, including group drinks. Plus a full bar so beer, wine, and liquor. Here's what takes things up a notch at The Porch. And it's a couple of things. First, there's creativity with their cocktail list. I had the 3rd Day at Coachella, which is as wild as it sounds. Brightly colored with glitter on the rim. For an extra $3, you can add a flower, which makes your entire mouth numb for around 10 minutes. I've only seen this in Vegas. Fun fact: this same flower was used by dentists back in the day, before they had anaesthesia. I also had a large beer; they have one that they make in-house. For an extra charge, you can add a margarita shot. My type of place. While I didn't order a group drink, they definitely caught my eye. They have a teapot of eight orange tea shots. If you've never had an orange tea shot with orange Jameson, you can thank me later. They don't have this liquor at a lot of places, so when you see it, jump on it. They also have Patron margarita trees served in mini Patron bottles. Plus, happy hour and daily specials. Need I say more? Food (4/5): Elevated bar food, to put it simply. They have a large menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees, desserts, etc. And the presentation for a lot of the dishes is going to exceed your expectations. I had one of their most popular dishes, the lanai chicken sandwich. You can order it crispy or grilled. I went with grilled. Think of it as an Asian-inspired chicken sandwich. It comes with lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, pineapple, and their homemade sauce. And with a side. I did the sweet potato fries. Solid meal. I never say no to pineapple. Yes, I'm one of those people. And you should be, too. The lanai chicken sandwich isn't to be missed. The Porch also has two other locations: one in Gilbert and one in Arcadia. With the creativity of their beverage program, and the daily specials, I'll definitly be back.

My family and I had a reservation at this location at 12 PM for the outside cover patio seating. It was very welcoming nice the patio area was shaded with games in a certain area and also TVs all over so you could watch the games. Our waitress we had she was amazing. She's from our family's hometown Detroit so we loved her energy and she was prompt with our orders as well. Our family ordered mimosas donut, holes burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings, avocado, toast, breakfast sliders, fries and more. The breakfast sliders definitely needed more meat. It said it comes with sausage and bacon, but there was barely any sausage on the sliders. I opted out for fries instead of breakfast potatoes since they don't come out super crispy the burgers and the chicken sandwiches looked better than what I ordered and the chicken wings were OK. They needed more seasoning and flavor in our opinion. The prices for the entrées range anywhere from $13 and up, depending on what you order. Overall, our experience was good, but the food was just OK in our opinion and if we do go back, we would like to try their burgers and or chicken sandwiches.

Very cool vibe here. Visiting Arizona and stumbled across this place. It was a good one to try. The place is lively, they have games, sports on tv and just an overall cool vibe here. We came for an early dinner, their was no wait to be seated. The waitress was so friendly, she checked on us constantly, refilled our drinks right away and was super cheerful. She gets a 5 stars as well. The food came timely and it was delicious . I love tgat they offer you a variety of side options, I was excited to get truffle fries as a side to my sandwich. Its my favorite fry type and available as a side!! What a win! Prices were average. Overall great place. Family friendly, date friendly,solo friendly, friend friendly. You can pretty much come here for any occasion.

This restaurant is all vibes. Has an extensive alcohol selection with a massive bar. Great photo opportunities throughout. You find a great mix of youth and older crowds. Andy our server was great highly motivated and ready to offer suggestions of both menus. Food is tasty I wouldn't say it's exceptional but it hits the spot. The shrimp tastes farm raised it's a small count. The fresh avocado makes up for it. Needs some spice to spruce it up. The quesadilla shines with the "pace picante" style salsa and something of a sour cream mix. It was good. Again this place is all vibes and great for a cocktail. They close early, 10pm during the week. I don't know what That's about. They should cater to late night drinking crowd. Maybe midnights might be more optimal. Just my opinion. Had a great time. Will be back.

Huge disappointment. I had been to the location in Gilbert where I had a fabulous dinner and excellent service. This location is far from comparable. I ordered the Caesar Salad with grilled salmon. This new gastropub just opened in our Tempe neighborhood and curiosity brought us and our friends in for some after dinner drinks. The Porch situated across from Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas and adjacent to Menchie's Frozen Yogurt making it convenient for an all-in-one stop for a bite/ drink before or after a movie. Or just to hang out and maybe engage in some giant-size games like Jenga, Connect 4, Scrabble, corn hole..... They serve an interesting list of fun cocktails and craft beers along with a nice weekday HH. Tonight our group chose some drafts: They were out of the Belching Beaver's - Me So Honey, so went with our familiar Belching Beaver's Peanut Butter Porter, Pizza Port's -Chronic Ale, and a domestic Michelob Ultra Lt. Each with a nice head and sufficiently putting the cap on the night. Morgan, our server, was very attentive, friendly and patiently answered all our questions. So kudos and to her excellent trainer at the flagship in the Arcadia district. Having eaten earlier, I glanced over the menu for the future. Nice variety on the menu supplying the usual bar foods but with some fuson twists. Like as in the Big A$$ Bowl of Pork Stew sounds inviting. And more impressing, they offer Vegan and GF friendly foods with even a dedicated fryer used exclusively for that. So great options for everyone to be content. This is definitely a fun vibe to meet up with friends. We're looking forward on our next visit to try their food & fun drinks. Consider this my love letter to the porch (in the spirit of Valentine's Day- love, your neighborhood celiac!) It's hard to believe this was the first day of the soft opening. This team of professionals know what the heck they are doing. It's really tough for me to go out to eat (and feel like a normal person) since my celiac disease diagnosis in August of 2019. I was excited just to hAve some new choices too eat across from our neighborhood movie theater(Alamo). I picked out a few I items I would order by looking at the menu in advance, the usual process for us celiacs. Little did I know how great this experience would be. The place looks great by the way. Finally, a great neighborhood bar in my neck of tthe woods in Tempe. The HH is from 3-6:15 during the week. I was celebrating a promotion at work, so what better way to do so than at the porch and test it out. Emma. She's the best! Seriously! I usually tell servers I have a gluten allergy bc some servers don't understand how sick I can get from gluten. She immediately empathized and assured me the cooks would switch their gloves, and to my surprise, they have a separate fryer! You heard me! If you have celiacs you know this is a very big deal. It wAs the first time I had French fries at a restaurant in months. I literally was almost in tears! Happy ones!!! The cocktails were awesome. The food was great. The culinary manager even car out to deliver our food and talk to me about that they have Udis GF buns for burgers. YESSSS! Seriously. Thank you. Really. Thank you for making me not feel weird about my dietary needs and taking it seriously. You guys went above and beyond for us! We will see you very, very soon! read more

Heard they officially opened their Tempe location today so I decided to stop by for lunch. I sat outside in the patio area. The food was great. I had the BBQ Chicken BLT Panini with a side of sweet potato fries. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. This is a fun spot with a large wrap-around patio area that includes lots of activities such as corn hole, Jenga, Connect Four, and much more. I plan to go back again for sure! read more

The absolute worst experience! Do not go here! they do not care about their service nor their customers. First I decided not to eat in because I have young kids and was told it would be faster to order food for pick up and we had to be somewhere so I was in a hurry and they knew it. They told me originally 20-25 min for food then after ordering they told me 30-35 min then after waiting I came in to pick up my food to notice half of my food was missing!! So I had to get that ordered because what I ordered was not even placed. They told me they would have the kitchen rush it because of the mess up. I ordered 4 sliders and the chicken strip meal I waited another 30 plus minutes!!!! in total ordered my food at 7:16 and didnt get it and leave until 8:27 for a pick up order! To fix it they offered to give my kids a free lemonade .... They should have reimbursed me after being so late we missed our event and now are out even more money! very unprofessional and do not care about their customers. read more

We stumbled upon this place by accident, it looked fun. So we stopped in around 2:30 for a late lunch on a Saturday. We were seated inside right away, wasn't too busy. We were waited on immediately. The waitress was good, kept checking on us. We ordered 2 sandwiches and a salad. Food was good, carrots were ok, should have ordered fries instead. Big Burgers Big Beers! The Porch has a very nice atmosphere. I love that it's open and airy. It's very similar to such establishments like The Yard, Culinary Dropout or Mcfates. I like to focus on the positives first. The food is delicious. So that will be one reason to return. It was a busy Saturday afternoon even with the Coronavirus panic and ballyhoo. I just wish after we were seated at the table we would of been greeted sooner by the waitress. She asked us if we had been taken care of and we said not yet and she quickly took care of us. Meh...pretty much a standard college hand out place with novel giant games and tire swing chairs for people to sit at in front of the bar. And what is up with the misters. It was like eating in a rainforest, they were turned up so high. Requests to turn them down did nothing. I went to the Tempe location with my friend who was in town & we were looking for a laid back environment with good food and we found just that. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower which was absolutely delicious! We got the buffalo wings because we did not expect the cauliflower to be as saucy as it was. Great staff. Very accommodating during a tough season for restaurants. (Lack of server help available). The Host was amazing and loved our server. (Personable and helpful.) What a disappointment. After a super experience at the Arcadia location I was looking forward to going again. Derby Day special. Dry, over- cooked tasteless fried chicken. I ordered the salad and the server suggested fried carrots instead. Disgusting, limp, and greasy. - I will give kudos to the delightfully light and fluffy cornbread side. My partner's truffle fries came out cold and unsalted & his barbecue chicken sandwich tasted like cheap sauce. Very accommodating staff, very safe procedures. Had our temperature taken to be seated indoors. Loud music accompanied by the loud roar of chatter. Very warm and upbeat atmosphere. Ordered Dos Little Señorita's Tacos in the beef short rib and it was WAY to spicy for my liking. Had to constantly take a bite and wash it down with my drink. This is my go-to place for breakfast in the morning. Quaint home town feel. The menu is simple but there are breakfast, lunch and dinner options, which I love so that I don't have to worry about decision making. The pies are yummy, I recommend the Porch Pie. The value is fair for your money, and the portions are also fair. The coffee is hot, this is your every day place for a small town breakfast. The most recent was…read moreon a Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. This speakeasy is located on Mill Ave., the center of Tempe's party scene. Because of its location, parking isn't easy. If you're looking for free parking, you're going to have a long walk. Outside of that, you'll have to pay for parking in a garage or metered street parking. Ambiance (4/5): Hint hint. Idle Hands is located inside Devil's Hideaway. A true speakeasy shouldn't have signage outside indicating its location. Unfortunately, there's a sign for Idle Hands outside of Devil's Hideaway which takes away the sense of mystery and intrigue that a true speakeasy provides. Outside of this hiccup, it's a cool speakeasy. It's intimate, with 10 or so seats at the bar and about 10 seats in booths facing the bar. There's a projector screen behind the bar that had mystical motion graphics the first time I stopped by (thinking wizards) and Halloween motion graphics the second time (with it being a day before the holiday). There were some other Halloween decorations up. The only area of improvement? The music often doesn't match the vibe. A lot of the music they were playing on my last visit was Irish music that would be fitting for a pub. Service (4/5): I had the same bartender each time. He knows how to make a good drink and is pretty efficient. When you close out, he only gives you the merchant copy. Which is a pet peeve of mine. Let me get that customer copy too. But overall, a good experience. Especially at a college bar. Food (N/A): I've only had drinks both times. Idle Hands actually doesn't have food, but Devil's Hideaway does. And you're allowed to bring food from there into the speakeasy. Drinks (4.5/5): It's pretty surprising to see a speakeasy on a college campus. I was impressed with the creativity of the menu, both in terms of the ingredients used and the fusion of flavors. I've had a different cocktail each time, and they've all been great. My favorite was one served in a box filled with smoke. Talk about a cool presentation! The hallmarks of a solid speakeasy are elevated cocktails, nice ambiance (dimly lit), an intimate space, and mystery/intrigue. While the intrigue is lacking at Idle Hands, and the music can be improved, they hit it out of the park in the other areas. One of my favorite speakeasies I've been to in Phoenix (and surrounding areas). I am, after all, the self-appointed king of speakeasies. The king gives his stamp of approval.

They have Negra Modelo on draught (hard to find that!), and their margaritas are delish. You can't go wrong with chimichangas or combo platters! Madison, our server, recommended the Purple Haze and South of the Border drinks, and boy, were they fantastic! Was glad to see what appeared to be a nice, casual restaurant open in our neighborhood so a visit at happy hour was much anticipated. Restaurant itself was set up nicely with garage doors, large outdoor patio with picnic tables, activities for kids & adults alike. Large "Cheers" style bar was inviting and glass-partitioned display kitchen was attractive. The concrete bench & countertop with garage door opening was interesting but we witnessed a lady with sunglasses walk right into the bench. She fell but caught herself, preventing serious injury. They may have to re-think this one. Staff seemed to be nice enough but It become obvious very quickly our server was a "rookie" with very little training. A good effort was made to customize a cocktail to my wife's taste, but I had to make two trips to the bar personally for the willing bartender to get it done (server just didn't seem to be in our area much for me to flag down). Chicken wings were delivered quickly and were tasty & crispy. Tortilla chips with guacamole & salsa were not memorable. Roasted carrots rated a "B". My happy hour burger: size of gluten-free bun which was very dry, overwhelmed the burger patty. Sweet potato fries were lukewarm , soggy, and greasy. Didn't eat the bun or the fries. Wife's fries were the same condition. Her regular bun, very dry, also was much too big for the burger patty, which ordered medium, was not pink at all. My buddy's wife had the pretzel which she said "Did not taste like a pretzel, more like cardboard. " She left it uneaten. My buddy's Tres Tacos were "ok, could use more flavor" He ate two out of the three. My daughter ordered forbidden rice bowl with shrimp. It was "alright" but arrived with "dry chicken" instead. Our server didn't seem to notice all the uneaten food and didn't bring us a check despite being told "we're done, no more drinks". She disappeared again until I flagged her down after a while. I might have called attention to all these failings because it can't be corrected if they don't know, but there was zero management presence. For now, it might be just hanging at the bar eating wings for me. read more

I always loved the Arcadia location so three friends and I came in on Friday try this place out since one of my friends lives right down the street! The hostesses informed us there would be a little bit of a wait (to be expected) and said we could get drinks at the bar while we waited, we ordered some spicy margs and my friend said it was the best one she's ever had! After about 20 minutes the hostesses got us sat us at a booth my friend and I got another round of margaritas (just as good at the first round) and both got the grilled cheese with truffle fries. Came into The Porch on my lunch break this morning with my buddy. Very unique selection of IPA's, my favorite. I enjoy spicy food so I ordered the nashville chicken sammy, while my bud ordered the buffalo spicy cauliflower. We shared the two and they were both great. They were out of the porch poppers which I really wanted to try...but guess we will be back anyway. Our server Lauren had us laughing and made our experience even better. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious. Even the pretzel and cheese made my mouth water when it came out. S/O to Faith closing down the patio cause it was cold out last night! Mind you, they have a fire pit with a lot of space for friends to gather around. The bar has plenty of rooms for guests as well and it's impossible to miss the game because of all of the TVs! We have gone here a couple times, Alex the bartender and Kevin were amazing. The manager (joe) was great as well as...running food non stop. They were on top of everything and never stopped moving. I work in the industry and I can appreciate everyone moving and keeping costumers happy.
