Excellent as usual. I typical don't get here this early in the week, but when I'm in the area I do what I can to have lunch here. Today was a good day to swing by.. Had the Tuesday special (2 chicken tinga . The chips are little heavy with salt, could be me, I don't add salt to anything. The are good, just not my flavor for tacos, again that's a me issue, I did like them, they're just more of a BBQish flavor. Service today was slower than typical; sat at the bar as always & it was a tad longer than usual just to get a drink/ menu, about 5 minutes. Other than that, I like this place a lot & the specials are worth it.

Stopped in for early dinner. We were seated immediately and was told our server would start her shift in about 15 mins, in the meantime we received water. I thought that to be awkward and felt we could've been seated in a different area. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat, lots of TVs, great lighting and activities for the kiddies outside. There a huge red chair out front that would be good for photo opportunities. Food was just okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered lemon pepper bone in wings that were good, and a side of salt & pepper fries. I didn't care for them since they are the ones with the extra coating on them to crisp them up. I prefer just a regular uncoated fry. Wings were average in size. Other guest, ordered chicken tenders with mango habanero sauce. They looked overly fried (dark brown) and he said the sauce tasted mostly like mango with a tad of habanero spice. Other guest had the porch pasta with chicken added he said it lacked flavor and needed a little bit more sauce. He ate about half. Not sure I'll be back.

Came across this spot while visiting Arizona for a business trip and the food didn't disappoint ! I got the chicken sandwich and I loved how crispy the chicken was cooked and the flavoring was perfect. I really liked their fries. Really cute spot the patio area with the swinging seats and the large patio games available.

I was torn between 5 and 4-stars. This is a great spot for kids. Giant connect 4, giant swings and giant chairs within the enclosed space so your kids enjoy a playful ambiance while you enjoy your food and maybe drank! I neglected to photograph all that, but it's there. The server was responsive and generous. My only gripe was the prices, but probably because I was born in the 80s.

Stopped in for dinner before going to a show at Gammage with the family and some friends. I really liked that I could make a reservation which saved us a lot of time. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive which was good. The food was good and the drinks were on point. We lucked out and ended up being there during Happy Hour so that was a plus. The vibes are definitely fun and dinner-esq. We ordered a Big Trouble over Little China drink, fried pickles, and mash cheeseburger with truffle fries, the Hawaiian chicken sandwich, grilled cheese and the macaroni and cheese. Everything was good. Only downside was the extra greasy feel of the grilled cheese. All in all it was a great meal and a fun time. We may be back if in the area again.

I checked out The Porch in Tempe with a big group for lunch on a Friday. I'm talking 30 people or so. We sat at two hightop tables and a booth in the bar area. Parking is easy in their complimentary lot, even when it's busy. They share the space with several other businesses including a movie theater. Service (4.5/5): Taking care of a large group, especially one that is drinking adult beverages, is no easy task. Our waitress did a fantastic job. She was attentive, friendly, and offered recommendations. She forgot about one of my drink orders, but totally understandable as she was serving 30 of us at once. Ambiance (4/5): My kind of spot. Casual, comfy, clean, and spacious. Tables, booths, high tops, and seating at the bar. The type of watering hole where you can kick back, enjoy some drinks, while also having solid food for more of a bar-focused restaurant. Drinks (5/5): I was impressed. They have an extensive cocktail list, including group drinks. Plus a full bar so beer, wine, and liquor. Here's what takes things up a notch at The Porch. And it's a couple of things. First, there's creativity with their cocktail list. I had the 3rd Day at Coachella, which is as wild as it sounds. Brightly colored with glitter on the rim. For an extra $3, you can add a flower, which makes your entire mouth numb for around 10 minutes. I've only seen this in Vegas. Fun fact: this same flower was used by dentists back in the day, before they had anaesthesia. I also had a large beer; they have one that they make in-house. For an extra charge, you can add a margarita shot. My type of place. While I didn't order a group drink, they definitely caught my eye. They have a teapot of eight orange tea shots. If you've never had an orange tea shot with orange Jameson, you can thank me later. They don't have this liquor at a lot of places, so when you see it, jump on it. They also have Patron margarita trees served in mini Patron bottles. Plus, happy hour and daily specials. Need I say more? Food (4/5): Elevated bar food, to put it simply. They have a large menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees, desserts, etc. And the presentation for a lot of the dishes is going to exceed your expectations. I had one of their most popular dishes, the lanai chicken sandwich. You can order it crispy or grilled. I went with grilled. Think of it as an Asian-inspired chicken sandwich. It comes with lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, pineapple, and their homemade sauce. And with a side. I did the sweet potato fries. Solid meal. I never say no to pineapple. Yes, I'm one of those people. And you should be, too. The lanai chicken sandwich isn't to be missed. The Porch also has two other locations: one in Gilbert and one in Arcadia. With the creativity of their beverage program, and the daily specials, I'll definitly be back.

My family and I had a reservation at this location at 12 PM for the outside cover patio seating. It was very welcoming nice the patio area was shaded with games in a certain area and also TVs all over so you could watch the games. Our waitress we had she was amazing. She's from our family's hometown Detroit so we loved her energy and she was prompt with our orders as well. Our family ordered mimosas donut, holes burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings, avocado, toast, breakfast sliders, fries and more. The breakfast sliders definitely needed more meat. It said it comes with sausage and bacon, but there was barely any sausage on the sliders. I opted out for fries instead of breakfast potatoes since they don't come out super crispy the burgers and the chicken sandwiches looked better than what I ordered and the chicken wings were OK. They needed more seasoning and flavor in our opinion. The prices for the entrées range anywhere from $13 and up, depending on what you order. Overall, our experience was good, but the food was just OK in our opinion and if we do go back, we would like to try their burgers and or chicken sandwiches.

Very cool vibe here. Visiting Arizona and stumbled across this place. It was a good one to try. The place is lively, they have games, sports on tv and just an overall cool vibe here. We came for an early dinner, their was no wait to be seated. The waitress was so friendly, she checked on us constantly, refilled our drinks right away and was super cheerful. She gets a 5 stars as well. The food came timely and it was delicious . I love tgat they offer you a variety of side options, I was excited to get truffle fries as a side to my sandwich. Its my favorite fry type and available as a side!! What a win! Prices were average. Overall great place. Family friendly, date friendly,solo friendly, friend friendly. You can pretty much come here for any occasion.

This restaurant is all vibes. Has an extensive alcohol selection with a massive bar. Great photo opportunities throughout. You find a great mix of youth and older crowds. Andy our server was great highly motivated and ready to offer suggestions of both menus. Food is tasty I wouldn't say it's exceptional but it hits the spot. The shrimp tastes farm raised it's a small count. The fresh avocado makes up for it. Needs some spice to spruce it up. The quesadilla shines with the "pace picante" style salsa and something of a sour cream mix. It was good. Again this place is all vibes and great for a cocktail. They close early, 10pm during the week. I don't know what That's about. They should cater to late night drinking crowd. Maybe midnights might be more optimal. Just my opinion. Had a great time. Will be back.

I went to The Porch on a Friday afternoon for a business meeting. The aesthetic brought me in but the food will bring me back. I had the Green Chili stew which is served over rice. I had black and white, so I could try both. This dish was priced so fair and I brought half home for my husband to try; Which he ate for dinner. My coworker had chicken and fries which also looked yummy. It was hard to decide because their menu is so unique so I will be back to try other items. Go for drinks and appetizers, skip the main menu. Drinks were good. We had a cous cous dish with tinga chicken. The chicken was good but the base of the dish was a flavorless pearlized cous cous with some veg thrown in. Another person had a grilled cheese which she ate 2 bites and didn't finish. The truffle fries are not cooked in a truffle oil they have a truffle powder that they put on and it is way to heavy, we got those to share and no one ate them. The last person at our table got a black rice dish but it they put shrimp on it which she did not ask for. We told the runner when he brought it out and he said he would bring another one, we never saw him again or our waitress until she brought the check. Really expensive for food that mostly went uneaten.it was also really loud, don't expect to have a conversation in there. read more

The atmosphere was great! Throwbacks playing and we went on trivia night though we decided not to participate, it was fun to see others doing so. Hands down my favorite "Hometown Sports Bar" since arriving in the Phoenix area. This was my first "eating out" experience when I moved to Tempe last June and it has been a consistent dinner time location ever since. Bartenders are awesome...and . I was in recently to enjoy good bar food and drinks, and was even more pleasantly surprised with the service that was given by the hostesses and my server alike. The hostesses (there were two working) were very attentive and sat me right away. My server was warm and welcoming. While sitting at my table, which was kinda by the front door, the hostesses even made the move to start conversation with me during their down time, which wasn't a lot! These ladies we're moving! All in all, the restaurant was ran very very smoothly and everyone I came in contact with was absolutely enjoyable. I cannot wait to return again with friends! Thank you!!! I was there with cousin and friend and it just seemed like they rushed us and instead of asking if we want another-drink they just brought the check with two floor managers watch us! It's was rude also when we where outside talking it was like anyone of color was leaving!!! I will never go to Tempe location and will never recommend! My husband and I thought we would try The Porch for the first time. We stopped in Sat night 2/27, our wait wasn't bad and we were seated outside @ a 2-top table. We sat there for about 25-30 min with not one person greeting us. I brought this to the attention of a guy at the front door, he proceeded to the other side of the outside patio and did nothing. I flagged a waitress, her response was I'm cut and I can't help you. There are only 3 servers on tonight so good luck. There are many things wrong with this sinareo. Why would you have 3 servers scheduled for a Saturday night. Why would you hire servers that don't want to work and lack customer service. First impressions are everything. Needless to say we got up and left. I would not recommend this place, you'd get better service going to Taco Bell. read more

If you are an out of state college student do not go here. They bent and cracked my state issued ID and refused to serve me because they do not have a scanner to properly check if IDs are real or not. They also told me they would do nothing and that I should just get a new ID or download an app to assure that my ID is real even though as an established restaurant they should be able to have a better way to check IDs than bending them. They also blamed it on the location because they are in a college town where students come from out of state. read more

Today (July 8th) was my first time in The Porch in Tempe. I will definitely be back! Why? Well, aside from the great food (with reasonable sized portions), and clean and attractive surroundings was our server Lauren. Tried this spot and it was well worth it!!! The food was amazing, the service was on point and the ambiance was perfect!! We tried their take in chicken fingers, I had the chicken sandwhich and hubby had the grilled cheese w short rib! We had a bottle of champagne for $15 to go with it! The bartender was super friendly and we had a blast! Definitely a must try if your in the area!! I got off work early and wanted to find a new late brunch spot that had food drinks and food. I found The Porch that was nearby where I worked and I'm glad I did! This place has a really great vibe, and our waitress Duaah was incredible! She always came by to ask how we're doing, check up on us, and gave some really great recommendations! My favorite are the Waffle Tenders by far! The spicy maple syrup that comes with the order is superb, and bowls here are really good too! Will definitely be coming back again soon! read more

I was excited to try a new restaurant and was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the panini and it was disgusting. The chicken was rubbery and had no flavor at all. The color of the chicken left me wondering if it was actual chicken. The melted cheese was cold and chewy. I would have said something right then and there, however our waitress was nowhere to be found. We also didn't get a single refill on our soft drinks, despite asking multiple staff for refills during our 1.5 hour stay. When the waitress finally arrived with the check, we politely reminded her that we didn't receive any refills all evening. Instead of acknowledging or apologizing, she looked at us like a deer in headlights. She went straight to the hostess and very obviously started talking about us, as both of them kept looking our way multiple times. Very disappointed in the whole experience, but seems like other people are having similar experiences of being ignored by staff. Will not return. read more

We lost my Grandpa a few weeks ago, and this was one of his favorite places. After the family left his Wake, the group decided to go out to dinner at his favorite place- The Porch. Just our luck, the Wake landed on Cinco De Mayo and we had a party of 15. The staff at the Porch was SO kind and helpful in getting our big party seated and served. I was seriously shocked we were able to get served on such short notice. The food and drinks were great as always. We'll definitely be coming back for years to come! read more

This was the second time ordering from here after the whole internet ordering thing. I called the order in and picked up. I got there and the food was ready to go. Which was nice. I got the food home and it was good. I ordered the chicken tacos and they were excellent. The spice was a little suttle at first than picked up a bit. I loved it. The side salad was really good too. The gentleman recommended the salad dressing and it was good. I want to say it was a lemon vinagrette. My wife ordered a hamburger and enjoyed it too. I got the bowl of green chili with pork too. I like the hominy that is a part of the dish. I will be back for sure and try another taco. read more

Like a lot of the other reviews the place is clean, fun and has great service. The only reason I'm rating it at three stars is because their food is subpar. The ideas on the menu are good but the execution I feel is lacking. I got the French toast Nashville chicken and there wasn't really one part of the sandwich I enjoyed. The bread was overly soggy and lacked flavor. The chicken was really chewy and had no "Nashville" flavor at all. Potatoes on the side were unseasoned. We also got the Mac and cheese which was good but lacking flavor. The drinks were very good. We will probably be back to hopefully find better things on the menu. read more

The most recent was…read moreon a Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. This speakeasy is located on Mill Ave., the center of Tempe's party scene. Because of its location, parking isn't easy. If you're looking for free parking, you're going to have a long walk. Outside of that, you'll have to pay for parking in a garage or metered street parking. Ambiance (4/5): Hint hint. Idle Hands is located inside Devil's Hideaway. A true speakeasy shouldn't have signage outside indicating its location. Unfortunately, there's a sign for Idle Hands outside of Devil's Hideaway which takes away the sense of mystery and intrigue that a true speakeasy provides. Outside of this hiccup, it's a cool speakeasy. It's intimate, with 10 or so seats at the bar and about 10 seats in booths facing the bar. There's a projector screen behind the bar that had mystical motion graphics the first time I stopped by (thinking wizards) and Halloween motion graphics the second time (with it being a day before the holiday). There were some other Halloween decorations up. The only area of improvement? The music often doesn't match the vibe. A lot of the music they were playing on my last visit was Irish music that would be fitting for a pub. Service (4/5): I had the same bartender each time. He knows how to make a good drink and is pretty efficient. When you close out, he only gives you the merchant copy. Which is a pet peeve of mine. Let me get that customer copy too. But overall, a good experience. Especially at a college bar. Food (N/A): I've only had drinks both times. Idle Hands actually doesn't have food, but Devil's Hideaway does. And you're allowed to bring food from there into the speakeasy. Drinks (4.5/5): It's pretty surprising to see a speakeasy on a college campus. I was impressed with the creativity of the menu, both in terms of the ingredients used and the fusion of flavors. I've had a different cocktail each time, and they've all been great. My favorite was one served in a box filled with smoke. Talk about a cool presentation! The hallmarks of a solid speakeasy are elevated cocktails, nice ambiance (dimly lit), an intimate space, and mystery/intrigue. While the intrigue is lacking at Idle Hands, and the music can be improved, they hit it out of the park in the other areas. One of my favorite speakeasies I've been to in Phoenix (and surrounding areas). I am, after all, the self-appointed king of speakeasies. The king gives his stamp of approval.

The shrimp dishes are incredible, remnant of Puerto Peñasco with shrimp that "pops" (if you know good shrimp, you know what I mean!) They have Negra Modelo on draught (hard to find that!), and their margaritas are delish. You can't go wrong with chimichangas or combo platters! Was glad to see what appeared to be a nice, casual restaurant open in our neighborhood so a visit at happy hour was much anticipated. Restaurant itself was set up nicely with garage doors, large outdoor patio with picnic tables, activities for kids & adults alike. Large "Cheers" style bar was inviting and glass-partitioned display kitchen was attractive. The concrete bench & countertop with garage door opening was interesting but we witnessed a lady with sunglasses walk right into the bench. She fell but caught herself, preventing serious injury. They may have to re-think this one. Staff seemed to be nice enough but It become obvious very quickly our server was a "rookie" with very little training. A good effort was made to customize a cocktail to my wife's taste, but I had to make two trips to the bar personally for the willing bartender to get it done (server just didn't seem to be in our area much for me to flag down). Chicken wings were delivered quickly and were tasty & crispy. Tortilla chips with guacamole & salsa were not memorable. Roasted carrots rated a "B". My happy hour burger: size of gluten-free bun which was very dry, overwhelmed the burger patty. Sweet potato fries were lukewarm , soggy, and greasy. Didn't eat the bun or the fries. Wife's fries were the same condition. Her regular bun, very dry, also was much too big for the burger patty, which ordered medium, was not pink at all. My buddy's wife had the pretzel which she said "Did not taste like a pretzel, more like cardboard. " She left it uneaten. My buddy's Tres Tacos were "ok, could use more flavor" He ate two out of the three. My daughter ordered forbidden rice bowl with shrimp. It was "alright" but arrived with "dry chicken" instead. Our server didn't seem to notice all the uneaten food and didn't bring us a check despite being told "we're done, no more drinks". She disappeared again until I flagged her down after a while. I might have called attention to all these failings because it can't be corrected if they don't know, but there was zero management presence. I always loved the Arcadia location so three friends and I came in on Friday try this place out since one of my friends lives right down the street! The hostesses informed us there would be a little bit of a wait (to be expected) and said we could get drinks at the bar while we waited, we ordered some spicy margs and my friend said it was the best one she's ever had! After about 20 minutes the hostesses got us sat us at a booth my friend and I got another round of margaritas (just as good at the first round) and both got the grilled cheese with truffle fries. Came into The Porch on my lunch break this morning with my buddy. Very unique selection of IPA's, my favorite. I enjoy spicy food so I ordered the nashville chicken sammy, while my bud ordered the buffalo spicy cauliflower. We shared the two and they were both great. They were out of the porch poppers which I really wanted to try...but guess we will be back anyway. Our server Lauren had us laughing and made our experience even better. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious. Even the pretzel and cheese made my mouth water when it came out. S/O to Faith closing down the patio cause it was cold out last night! Mind you, they have a fire pit with a lot of space for friends to gather around. The bar has plenty of rooms for guests as well and it's impossible to miss the game because of all of the TVs! We have gone here a couple times, Alex the bartender and Kevin were amazing. The manager (joe) was great as well as...running food non stop. They were on top of everything and never stopped moving. I work in the industry and I can appreciate everyone moving and keeping costumers happy.
