i was told to visit here instead of 'Totally Awesome Bar', currently closed. I looked up their menu online, but their buggy website was not in tune with my ad-blocker, so i could not check prices, which they won't show, for some reason. For those interested, a Chicago dog costs $4. No need to go online. I ordered one of these along with a 'jalapeno popper' dog. Both were ok tasting, but the Chicago was a mess. A Chicago dog (properly done) is easily the best hot dog you'll ever eat. If you get one here it will NOT be done properly. The bun is too small and all the condiments piled on top, making it impossible to eat- that's the first time I've said that about a hot dog. My first bite of it caused the dog to explode all over my shirt. i asked for a fork/knife, only to see their cutlery display was completely empty, their stoner employees too busy to fill it. I wound up having to eat a simple Chicago dog with a knife & fork while wiping off mustard all over my shirt. The 'jalapeno popper' dog was easier to eat and pretty good, though not worth the $5 you'll pay for it. Seriously, for half that, go to any 7-11 or Circle K. Their 'arcade games' are a shitty mish-mash of arcade games, heavy on pinball. Places like Free Play and Nickelrama back home in Dallas turned me on to 'throwback arcades'. This place turned me right off. I ate my dogs, didn't play one game, and got the f@#$ out of there. You should, too. Used to come here all the time. Great for games and fun to relax with. Although it's a great hangout spot don't order any food whatsoever. When if first opened it was a great spot to get a hotdog or quesadilla. Now it takes well over an hr to get food even simple quesadillas and the bar staff don't care that it takes forever. Tried to order something to eat from there last week and it took 2hrs for a chicken quesadilla and hot dog so long that I even forgot I ordered till they called my name. Staff has no sense of urgency for guests orders unless it's a beer. They will always forget guests orders and never rush to fix their mistakes. Horrible place for food. read more

For years the Portal was my favourite place to play pinball and just relax for a while. Today was the first time I had been back since COVID started and I was truly shocked at the lack of care in the place. No one and I mean NO ONE was wearing masks or attempting to social distance. Customers were not required to wear masks whatsoever and it looked as if COVID had never been a thing to anyone in the place. Normally I'd spend hours playing pinball in there and after traveling across town to visit I was so excited but left after maybe five minutes. Wearing my mask I went in and noticed there was no sign about wearing masks, no sanitizers, nothing. I played one game of pinball that I chose close to the door away from the other maskless people in the place before one person decided to start a game at the machine directly next to me. By that point I'd reached my limit and freaked before getting the heck out of there. I understand this place is small and wants to stay open but this is downright dangerous. To not even have a mask requirement is crazy. Until they change their policies or COVID ends I will not be returning. read more

I couldn't have gone to Savannah and done without my experience here. I have been to a few arcade bars and this one just isn't special. They don't have any retro, vintage games. Some of the games were broken or out of order. The coin machine literally ripped my dollar down the middle. And there was a dude sleeping in one of the middle booths. They have a great selection of arcade cabinets, and more important to me, pinball machines, so by that metric, I should love this place... however, the lack of a drink menu with beer and ciders on tap or bottled and cocktails available was very annoying. I went to portal and ordered the veggie sandwich ($6.99) and drink. The sandwich had roasted red peppers, avocado, tomatoes, and onions. So good! My side was a bowl of fruit. Worked there and the Wormhole. Manager will use and abuse you, she says one thing then when you confront her about it she has many different excuses. As a manager you need to be transparent about things to your employees. I understand things get slow and money gets tight but don't try and lie about it. I was very upfront about things and told her I understand. Then the manager out right lies to you and pays you the lowest possible wage. Even though when I was working at the wormhole I made 12 dollars an hour just for security. I was involuntarily moved due to security reasons the she had the audacity to change my pay to $10 an hour. now that being said I did make cash tips and credit card tips. but the main thing behind it was she screwed me out of overtime at $12 an hour that being time and a half so $18 an hour for certain weeks that I did over 40 hours. then she uses our cash tips against us and credit card tips against us to make us feel as if we're getting paid between $18 and $25 an hour. I am not trying to be somebody who is making her seem to be a horrible person. but she needs to make drastic decisions and changes and listen to her employees. because of that reason I left. I found a manual a yellow binder that had all the taskings of everybody that work there. I informed her she was making me do managerial stuff and she questioned me so I pulled out the manual and she said it needed to be updated. that being said this person needs to take a course in managerial management. the portal is falling apart from the ventilation to all the graffiti that's within there. not to mention all the filth and non cleanliness of said bar, restaurant, and arcade. In town for Labor Day weekend and this was an awesome gem to find in Savannah. Great hot dogs, old school arcade games, and air hockey!

Had Ubereats delivered. Super overpriced place and was desperate for food at the late hour so we chose this place. The food got here (I got the Luigi sandwich) and when I started eating, I noticed immediately that with each bite, the pepperoni slices in it still had the paper around. I had to take apart the sandwich and take them all off. The taste wasn't good in general and I took the pepperoni off overall. I just didn't bother to finish the sandwich. Very upset considering how expensive it was for a small sandwich, kind of ridiculous. read more

One of the best places to stop in Savannah. Great prices, especially for how fresh everything is, and made to order. Everything I could want. Breakfast all day, great coffee, unique food, and games from wall to wall. Got the Centipede wrap and was not disappointed. Loved the avocado and sprouts. Though I've been to this establishment many times, and have always had a great experience, tonight fell fall from that. The portal has amazing food at amazing prices and really fun games that kept me coming back on top of a friendly staff. But whoever hired the guy with the beard and septum piercing really fucked up. Due to some game being on it took forever for this guy to notice me even sitting there and once I gave him my order he condescendingly mocked me about a specific then walked away, proceeding to yell and swear at the TV above the volume of everyone else. One of the best part of portal food is the amazing sides that come with the sandwiches-deviled eggs and pasta salad for example- and though it's stated on the menu it's included, was in stock in the case of sides, and I've gotten it every other time I've came, this guy refused to give me any and said he would only serve me chips. So infatuated in the game it was pure laziness. Sorry for the bad review portal, I did think you were awesome, but this guys aggression totally brought the vibes down :/ read more

I stopped in with my boyfriend to have a soda at 4:00 Sunday (the place was empty). While there, i got a text that my nephew was killed. I went to the bathroom crying and sick to my stomach. Trying to pull myself together. Anyone with 1/2 a heart could understand. Anyhow, after a while, during which nobody came in the use the other bathroom stalls, an employee came on and said people were waiting and she needed to clean. I said there were other stalls and that nobody had come in. I asked her to give me a minute. She was so nasty and rude. Then she sent in the manager who threatened he'd call the police if I wasn't out in 5 minutes. Again, I was just trying to stop my tears. I was sober and quiet and in a bit of shock. Again, NOBODY was in the bathroom that had multiple stalls and the place was empty. I came out and politely told the manager that I just found out my nephew was killed and I just needed to adjust after hearing the news. He said he didn't care and kicked me out. I went to my boyfriend who was finishing his soda (yes, we were paying customers) and told him we had to go as the manager continued to harass me saying I was kicked out. I told him that I hoped if he had a terrible loss, someone would treat him with some compassion and understanding. Bottom line, I disturbed nobody, I didn't cause any interruption of business, and didn't cause a scene. There were only 4 other patrons in the establishment at the time and ........ whatever......some people are just mean and heartless. Seriously heartless. Karma will come. read more
