The 1st time I tried to eat there it didn't work out due to a kitchen fire. I was impressed by the place, but after a couple of beers and an appetizer we were given instructions to evacuate the restaurant due to a kitchen fire. The next time in 2024 when I was in the area, they were closed for a remodel. Today was the day. The beer selection was fantastic and so was the food. I got the pork sandwich with greens on top. It was delicious, but it could've not had juices leaking so much? Maybe cheese below and above the meat to try to keep some of the juices off the bun or maybe more bun toasting? The fries were amazing and I should've gotten the aolie initially, but didn't get it until I saw another table with an order. It was delicious. The service was very good. The server had good knowledge of the beers, food, and was friendly. This is one of the best beer bars in the US. Love the Porter! It's a staple gathering place for the locals. It has a great vibe. You have to park on the street or in the parking lot behind them if you're lucky enough to find a spot. They have a crazy list of beers on tap, but they also make great cocktails. You can walk in and sit at the very long bar or walk down the bar to get seated by the friendly servers in the back room. We love their mouthwatering goat cheese fritters to start our evening. Then the cauliflower makes you feel like you are eating healthy. Unique Spot with Incredible Food and Vibes The Porter really impressed me this place has a unique feel that stands out right away. The atmosphere is seriously cool. Bar up front, dining area in the back, and it gives off a true beer cellar vibe. Service was great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and checked in just the right amount without overdoing it. Food-wise, I was very impressed. We started with the pretzel appetizer with a white cheese dip, and it was excellent. Not your typical starter definitely feels like a staple item here. I also tried a Georgia cider, which was smooth, slightly sweet, and really easy to drink. The smash burger was a standout. Cooked perfectly, held together well, and the sauce was incredible. I easily could've eaten two. The fries had a Parmesan garlic-style seasoning, and I finished every last one. Overall, everything here was great. I stopped in here for a drink so my review is based solely on that, and not on the food. I went on a Tuesday night and the place was decently crowded but there were still some spots at the bar. I grabbed a drink and I really like how many options they have. They have lots of beers, as well as ciders, wines, and cocktails. It's great having a place with that much variety. This spot gives more of a locals vibe. It's dark and more intimate and a smaller place, but in a good way. If you're in Little Five Points, I'd recommend stopping in for a drink. read more

We live in the neighborhood and had relatively fond memories of meals at the Porters years ago. We read in the newspaper that it had reopened with outdoor seating and decided to go for a quick dinner (we are not big on beer). The menu that was brought to us was different from a recent (2026) that we had seen online, with less choices. I picked a tuna melt and my husband ordered the fish and chips: we obviously expected some fried items but not the level of GREASINESS that overwhelmed everything else, the bread and the chips were deeply soaked in oil and the fish had a thick greasy crust; the tuna salad was very salty and strongly flavored with dill but it was the only thing I could eat. This rating is purely on my experience getting some drinks and no food. I was scoping out locations near my work conference for some unique beers. This place popped up as having a huge tap list and some hard to find beers. It's located near a funky intersection that had my Uber driver guessing where it was. It has a unique, funky vibe, in a good way. They have a huge, long bar and then I believe seating in the rear, as well as our front. The bartender was very nice and helpful. They indeed had some beers that I would never find back home and ones that I have wanted to try. Their beer list is immense, both draft and bottles. Their bartender worked hard finding a patron near me to find something that would fit her palate and apparently did a good job. The pricing was okay, not great considering the serving size, but what I ordered was also not readily available things. If we didn't have dinner plans perhaps I would have sampled some food, the menu looked decent. read more

I came here because they advertised that they had 60 beers on tap. The selection was really good and I enjoyed the beers there. But what really caught my attention was the fish and grits meal that they had for the brunch menu. The fish was fried perfectly and the grits with gravy was so delicious. It had shrimp and bacon bits in it. The bartender checked on us once while we were there but the food came out really quickly. Overall the vibe was really chill when I went there on a Saturday afternoon and I would definitely love to come back again. read more

What a great place. We went on a Wednesday before a concert at Aisle 5 down the street. They have so many different beer options. The bartender was extremely helpful with any questions I had about the menu or drinks. The bar is long with plenty of seats but it did fill up by 6:30. The pull apart pretzel and cheese was delicious. The pretzel had a soft interior and crispy crust it was more like pull apart bread than an actual pretzel but it was still good. The cheese was a bit thinner than I would have liked but it had really good flavor regardless. We split the smash burger with fries and it was to die for. It had tons of caramelized onions and cheesy goodness. Fries were crispy and very flavorful. We will be back! read more

Eh. Nothing specific to complain about but we won't return. Ordered a salad and the pork sandwich. Salad was fine but had an overwhelming flavor that I couldn't place...I think the dressing had far too much tarragon. Pork sandwich had a ridiculously enormous pile of cooked greens on top. The greens were good but why on top of the sandwich????? After removing the greens, sandwich was adequate but nothing special. Fries were oddly flavorless and accompanying aioli had a weird strong after heat that ruined whatever good came before it. Sandwich couldn't be put down once you picked it up because it was so wet and would fall apart entirely. Somehow our salad and sandwich ended up being nearly $50...and it definitely wasn't worth that. read more

So happy to have this staple back in my rotation. The new owner really nailed the revamp of the Porter, even keeping the plaques made during Covid. The beer selection alone will have you wanting to stop in just to see what they are pouring. Food is great, my favorites for the last decade are the salt & vinegar popcorn and the pull apart pretzel to start and my new favorite to the party is the cauliflower steak. Love to see this place taking on new growth and they have kept so much of the original ambiance. If you haven't gone, GO! If you have been, chances are I will see you there again. Never had anything less than a spectacular experience here! The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly, quick to make a recommendation. The food is phenomenal. The summer succotash is probably one of the best dishes I've ever had. I could eat it every day. My family that lives out of town waits for me to notify them when they have it back on the seasonal menu. Also, outstanding are the fries, the burger, Mussels, the tuna melt. We have not tried the hen of the woods mushrooms yet, but will definitely get that on our next visit! read more

I was very excited about The Porter opening back up in L5P. As a neighbor, it is awesome to have a new dining option in the community, especially with Corner Tavern closed right now. Overall they have a great vibe, nice staff, and decent food. The issue I ran into is that it seems to have a bit of a split personality. We walked in and sat at the bar, where the dining room is not visible. The bar very much has a high-end cocktail bar vibe but is actually more of a taproom (which is fine - but doesn't look it!). I tried their stone fruit whiskey sour, which was very sweet so then tried a regular whiskey sour which was so bad I couldn't drink it. Again, the bartenders were very very nice, but definitely stick with the beer list, which is very extensive! Once we had the chance after dinner to walk back to the dining room everything clicked - it definitely looks like a pub back there! I wish we'd seen that before we ordered. Same goes for the food; our expectations were a bit too high with the vibe at the bar. We had the tuna melt and burger. The burger was EXCELLENT, but the tuna melt is described as a "confit tuna melt" and it was described as an elevated version. Its really just a tuna melt lol. The deviled eggs were rich and creamy, the steak tartare was flawlessly seasoned and indulgent, and the Hen of the Woods mushrooms were so flavorful, we couldn't stop eating them. The pretzel was perfectly pillowy and delicious! The 212 and Lemon Gingerade were refreshing and paired beautifully with the meal. The Porter has always felt like home, albeit the kind of home where you'd expect a knight to saunter in and order a pint. For years, it was dim and medieval, with 1950s luggage tucked precariously in the rafters. They closed for renovations a while back, and today I went back, not knowing what to expect. Turns out, they've lightened the place up--literally. The darkness has lifted, and the rafters now host neatly mounted two-tops alongside the vintage luggage. It's like the old Porter went to therapy and decided to declutter but keep its quirks. The beer list remains staggering: 800 options, 60 on tap. They've even got vintage bottles to choose from. That's the kind of flex that makes you forgive a few months of closed doors. The service? Great. They know their beer and food, don't hover like a guilty conscience, but somehow always appear just when you're thinking, "Could use another beer." And the food--good lord, the food. I ordered their take on hash: roasted potatoes, hot peppers sautéed just enough to singe the edges of your dignity, thick-cut pork belly, and two poached eggs perched on top like a couple of smug little masterpieces. It wasn't the greasy diner hash I expected--it was better. Between the vibes, the beer, and the food, they've nailed it. The trifecta. The Porter didn't just renovate; it evolved. You can find The Porter Beer Bar at 1156 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307 about half a block down Euclid from the Little Five Points intersection of roads (Euclid, McClendon, Briarcliff/Moreland), it's on the same side as Criminal Records and the Euclid Yacht Club. Parking is a bit tricky as most of L5P is paid parking - you can sometimes park on side streets but there's a limit to times and on some streets it's limited to residents on weekends (and you will be ticketed). There are a few pay lots, some with attendants and some relying on Parkmobile or similar. I've been coming to The Porter for many years, although sporadically and mostly to drink beer and not eat. Recently I've been in Virginia Highlands a lot so have been hitting the local areas with this establishment becoming one of my lunch faves. It's usually pretty empty when I get there at their 11:30 open time where I sit at the bar - food (and beer) is delivered quickly and the conversation is always enlightening (the bartenders know a lot about the beer they serve). To come straight to the point, The Porter Beer Bar is one of the best craft brew pubs in Atlanta - actually this entire area has amazing craft beer, with the Wrecking Bar and New Realm nearby (for actual Brewpubs - meaning they have food and brew their own beer - The Porter sometimes does collaborations with breweries but I don't believe they have their own brewers or brewery) and the Brick Store fairly close (Decatur square is only about 4 miles away) competition is fierce. Only the best survive in this market, and The Porter certainly fits that bill. The food here is more in the realm of pub food - fried items like Fish and Chips have huge crispy portions of beer-battered cod and really wonderful Belgian (herbed-garlic) fries. The burger is something special with slabs of pork belly, even the salads (love the house arugula with yellow tomato and goat cheese) are something to behold, revere and consume with great satisfaction. They usually have mussels available there that are some of the best I've had in Atlanta, served in a Thai-style Tom Kha Gai broth with grilled bread. In a word, the food here is fabulous. But a great craft beer pub wouldn't be anything without a great beer menu - this place is pretty amazing, with verticals of your favorite imported lambics and amazing beers on tap. They change the draft frequently and feature "tap takeovers" of some of the best breweries in the US so you can get a great sampling of beer you wouldn't normally see in Atlanta. Prices are a bit lofty but for this part of Atlanta on-par and really, for what's being served, where else are you going to find it? Service here is always phenomenal, even when they're busy and you're sitting at one of the tables instead of at the bar. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the food and what's available on draft (the important stuff for me). They also have a great bourbon and scotch selection - this is a full-service bar. read more

Really fantastic food. We ordered mac n cheese that was so creamy and you could see the pulley cheese strands as bites were separated with crunchy bacon and green onion large enough to pack flavor. We got the chicken wings which were dynamite with a bit of heat and the perfectly ripe mango w micro greenery yowzers. But it's not even the best, actually I can't pick a best. The shrimp n grits were recommended and very good. The hangover ramen was great, egg cooked perfectly. I am truly over pork belly on all the menus and it ends up just a gelatinous fatty blah. This pork belly in this ramen was well done, top five ever for me. And the surprise ridiculous would make me go all veggie was the cauliflower falafel with beets wrap. The flavors and textures were spot on. It was so good. For dessert we had the carrot cake sundae which also didn't disappoint. The cake was springy and well spiced. To drink we had the Scandinavian mead flight which was just as good as the food, each unique and with crazy aroma.
