    Wine by the glass

Can't say enough for this wine shop. The owners frequently are behind the counter and they have great insights on their inventory. There are several whites and reds at any time for sale by the glass. There also seems to be a constant stream of locals coming into pick up wines for events and dinners. If you enology wine, shopping for wine and wine tasting don't miss this great shop!

Great little place with yummy cheese and wine by the glass. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

The cutest little wine shop in 5 counties. This place specializes in unusual wines and hard to find labels. Every time we go there, we are introduced to new things and even get a class on the region, if interested. Try them out. Check into their monthly wine club. Sit and sip in the back and let them regale you with tales of wine made long ago. Enjoy!

Off the main drag there's a few local spots that we've come to know and love. This is one of the hidden (I refuse to say the g-word that normally ensues hidden) houses turned stores in Truckee. As you walk in, your senses will be overwhelmed. Chatter from the very intimate bar, wine bottles stacked from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, a room overflowing with cheese and a small fridge dedicated to craft beer, and every nook and cranny is jammed with chocolates, crackers, and wine paraphernalia. Depending on the season, you'll find yourself surrounded by many wine enthusiasts or if it's the shoulder season, you may have the whole place to yourself. Tastes are a modest $1-2 bucks and worth every sip. To be honest, I almost didn't write this review, just so we could continue to hoard this shop to ourselves. But the last time we went, I picked up a bottle of red, 4-pack of Italian fizzy moscato (we didn't think twice about that; it's as good as we imagined) and a sixer of an Icelandic Pale Ale (when's the last time you had a brew from Iceland?) and I decided it would be a disservice to not share with my yelp community. To be honest, who reads my reviews anyway? Let alone takes them seriously? Cheers! And enjoy my attempt at a wine glass emoticon! ())=|

Thank God for a Winery here! We immediately called to see if we could reschedule as we know we would be back. They said we could come another day. Yay! We decided to go back when there wasn't a blizzard. Lol. We also upgraded our experience from smores & fireplace outdoors, to a YURT! Best decision ever & it was our BEST winery experience ever! It was just perfect & magical! The yurt had 2 heaters, but we quickly turned one off. It wAs equipped with blankets & pillows! It was so cozy feeling. Our table was so nicely decorated, like out of a magazine! The experience came with a charcuterie board and 5 wine tastings. Everything was so good! Not a fan of White wine, but it's something about high elevation wineries...makes white taste yummy! Ambiance was cozy, without the cold snow! We absolutely loved everything about it & we are super happy we booked it! This is a must to visit in Truckee!

Here's a recap of our dinner last night: Two of us walked in and requested a table. The place was packed. The Hostess, Larissa, worked her screen for a minute then escorted us to our table --- right next to the band and with a nice view of the bar and football game. Our waitress, Christal, was attentive and extremely nice. She made great suggestions for dinner. I had the French Onion Soup and the Beef Bourguignon. Both were delicious. The band ("Quartet minus One") played a fantastic arrangement of Miles Davis's "So What" and many other songs. But here's the interesting part: during the evening I saw Larissa (Hostess) wiping down tables to speed seating. I went to the kitchen to thank the chefs and I saw the GM, JC, cleaning dishes! These people work very, very hard to make dining a memorable experience. I give Moody's my highest recommendation!!!!!

It gets crowded at the dinner hour so reservations are recommended, but we lucked out and got a table in the speak-easy style bar. Since I was driving I had an N/A sparkling but the craft cocktails looked amazing. Everything my friend and I tried and shared was perfectly constructed and portioned. We tried the Zucchini blossoms (lightly crispy batter fried) deliciousness, the burrata salad (that had just enough burrata to taste, and none to waste). After seeing someone else get pizza on the way in we had to try it, and opted for the mushroom and asparagus pizza. It was worth the calories, but also light and crispy, and just right for two ladies to share with a few appetizers.
