My friends came here for New Year's Eve and one of our friends was drugged at the bar, as it turned out it was pcp and this happens often at Pourhouse. This business is refusing to take any kind of accountability for this, but yet it keeps occurring. Not sure what the resolution would be other than the management team taking more/better safety precautions knowing it's a recurring issue at their establishment. So I guess this is more of a warning, proceed at your own risk. read more

I've only been here a few times, and none of my experiences were great. 1st time- concert (years ago to see Ritz & Snow Tha product) very small stage and venue to host concerts. Overcrowded (which is great for the bands playing) but extremely hot and uncomfortable for everyone else. No chance at getting drinks at the bar. 2nd time- we seen them advertising 'Family Feud' game night so stopped in. Maybe 3-4 groups of people at the bar at the time. We played 3 out of 3 rounds they had. We won 2 and lost one of I remember right. We played for free drinks and shots. Even when we lost we got free shots, which was very nice. We ordered food. Everyone got chicken - different flavors & habanero cheesecurds. The chicken was gross, not seasoned, had a very weird taste (the actual meat). The cheesecurds were great though. 3rd time- Went to pregame for a concert. Only ordered drinks. I ordered one of their classic cocktails 'Pourhouse Punch' it was horrible. Maybe missing the pineapple & grenadine. I know it has a lot of liquor in it but it was missing something. I asked if I could send it back and get something else. The waitress said she wasn't sure but I'd probably still have to pay for it (as in they don't take back drinks). After talking to the bartender she said she would comp it and I ordered a different drink. I ordered the 'poison apple' which tasted a lot better. The waitress came back and told be they tried the original drink I ordered and that they agreed it wasn't great. My sister got the 'Pourmans Paradise' which tasted tropical and fruity. From all of my experiences here I feel like it's an okay bar, I love bar food & theirs wasn't good. It wouldn't be my first pick. read more

Fun dance bar! A big group of us met up here as a second choice because the place we initially wanted to go had an overpriced cover fee. We heard that pourhouse was only $5, so we decided to try it out. It has a fun vibe and two floors to mingle on. "Some shitty cover band" was playing and they played all the right songs, super fun to sing along with and dance to! We missed the memo that it must have been an ugly Christmas sweater party, but nonetheless we had fun! Coat check was only $3 as well. Not bad! read more

Awful. We are stranded on a long layover in Minneapolis so took the train downtown to hit somewhere to chill out and have a few beers and food. Got off the train, saw this spot and decided to wing it and give it a try (great reminder to take two minutes and look at Yelp for ideas). We walk in, it's empty. Literally no other customers. The princess behind the bar won't even look up from her laptop. We are friendly, say hello. She blurts out "So do you want menus?". Uhhh yeah, sorry to bother you and inconvenience you. We grab a seat and my buddy comments how miserable this bartender is. She walks over, throws menus on the table, and says "what do you want?". We say we need a minute, she lets out an audible sigh and heads back to her laptop behind the bar. I tell Jay were done here and not giving them our business. We leave without millennial princess addressing us. We went and had a quick beer at Sneaky Pete's (where the bartender there had heard from customers about this gem of a bartender before) then got exceptional service and food at Cuzzys. No lack of options in DT Minneapolis... don't make the mistake we did, avoid at all cost. Worst service I have seen in years... don't recall ever walking out like this. The bouncers here need serious training, or at least vetting to get rid of the bullies.. One of them in particular is a pure bully, exercising his authority by destroying the ID of a young female from South Carolina. He didn't think the out of state ID was real. The young lady and her friends just wanted to take the ID and leave. Instead, he bent the ID in half, splitting it in two. He would not give the destroyed ID back, he had evidence it was a fake ID (they are supposed to contact police for clarification if the bouncer isn't sure if it is real, not destroy out of state ID's). I know this young women, she was my next door neighbor, and went to college in South Carolina, the ID was real. Another young lady in the group had to grab the destroyed ID from the bouncers hands so her friend was not left with no ID. read more

I've been coming here for various events for years, and I've always wanted to go public about the idea that this place is garbage, and if people I know didn't throw shindigs here I probably wouldn't ever go. It's a money pit with terrible design and layout, 95% of the staff are bro's on a power trip who would sooner kick someone out for smoking weed while in turn looking the other way at cokeheads because it's a friend of theirs. Also the staff are so conceited that if you wear a disguise they'll obliviously let you right back in because security is less their strong point over trying to look compulsively self-important. They have unwritten policies about when they don't allow people back into the venue without ever clarifying it when it matters, and will make those kinds of abrupt decisions at random at the expense of their regulars (ironic behavior since they seem kind of desperate for cash a lot of the time). Word of advice, while Skyway has had far more bad PR by comparison, avoid this place if you have a choice. read more

Food is forgettable, but service was the winner here! I trekked here after going to two bars beforehand to watch the Seahawks game while I was in Minneapolis. The two bars I went to before The Pourhouse couldn't get the game, even though I called to make sure they were playing it, which the said they were! LIES. But when I met a local at one of the bars I unfortunately went to, she told me that her friend was at The Pourhouse watching the Seahawks. I almost gave up, having missed 15 minutes of the game already; but so glad I gave this place a try because as soon as I walked in, the Seahawks game was not only on one TV but on the big screen and on another screen! Until some cheeseheads arrived was when they switched over the big screen to the Packers game, but I'm just relieved that they played the Seahawks game! It was way more difficult to find a bar, playing the game than I originally thought and missing a Seahawks game is simply, out of the question for me! THANK YOU, POURHOUSE! All of the staff were super nice, making conversation with everyone in the place. One of the bartenders mentioned that they always try to play all NFL games here, accommodating all sports fans and even this traveling 12. There were some good daily specials and deals on drinks, but I thought my wings were bad. I ordered 10 wings for 10 bucks, half buffalo, half dry-rub ranch and thought the ranch was way too salty and the buffalo sauce was overly drenched on the chicken. I'd skip the wings here, but I can't even be mad at The Pourhouse because they were my saving grace on Seahawks Sunday. Kitchen was closing at 10pm. But we wanted food! Granted there was only one waitress for the whole floor. But she clearly was trying to wait us out after kitchen close. After taking our orders with Minnesota nice attitude, we got our food pretty much tossed on our table. Wasn't even that good. Not sure why people are here. The big projection screen? My buddy and I were off to our biweekly lunch at a new spot in the Twin Cities. We were going to hit the Greek restaurant below The Pourhouse, but there was a long line, so we tried the restaurant. You enter the establishment and you instantly notice how large it is. There is one movie theater size TV screen in the middle of the room and about 15 TVs that line the walls. There are a bunch of tables upstairs and about 25 tables that sit in front of a stage which had a drum set on this afternoon. We sat at a table downstairs and I instantly noticed about 14 taps lining the wall back by the bar. We found out that all beers are $3 during happy hour. Nice! Our waitress came by and was pretty nice; we looked over the menu, which had quite a few items on it. My friend and I ordered the open face Cuban. I ordered a sub side salad which I thought was $2.95 and my friend got some taco seasoned tater tots as what we thought was a sub for the potato chips because that is what it said you could do for the sandwiches, which were right above what we found out later were entrees and couldn't have subs, which we weren't told. Our waitress just asked us if he wanted tots, why would anyone want a gigantic plate of chips and a huge basket of tots? At least ask, you know you can't sub the chips for those right? Would have added a star too the review. So disappointing. Why are you trying to screw over new customers? We waited about 15 minutes, which was a little long for only having about 15 people in the place. Our waitress did refill my Diet Coke 3 or 4 times, which was nice. Our food came out and my salad came out on its own plate, I thought I had subbed? Huh. The Cuban was pretty huge on a baguette style long half a loaf. There was a good pile of shredded pork on top and a few slices of ham with a couple slices of cheese on top. The potato chips on the side were plentiful, good kettle style chips. The salad looked a lot like bagged Dole salad mix and the blue cheese on the side was nothing special. The pork was very dry compared some other Cubans I have tried, and the ham was unbelievably salty, like way over the top. The cheese kind of congealed on top. The bread was very crispy though and the best part of the sandwich. Really nothing special, my friend said it was reminiscent of Applebee's quality. My friend thought the sandwich was okay as well, but his tots were wonderful and crispy from the two I tried. The seasoning wasn't spicy enough for me, I would have gotten buffalo if it were me. Then came the bill and mine was $18.06. I was charged 3.95 for a salad I thought should have been $2.95 because that is what s sub was supposed to be. I thought to myself, "Huh?" Then my friend's came out and he was charged $5.50 for the tots. What!? We thought it was $1.50 to substitute tots. She explained you couldn't sub for "Entrees", just sandwiches. Who does that, I never have run into this issue where you can't sub. Boo. We explained we didn't understand that, she said let me check. I really expected her to make an adjustment since they are a new restaurant and maybe didn't understand their policy was confusing and not clear on the menu. Nope. So never back here for lunch, for $5, they lost two lunch customers for life and I have told a lot of people what happened. Bad word of mouth is not good for a new business. If it were me, I would have made an adjustment. Might try for happy hour, but never for lunch. Still, I left a good tip and we left very unhappy. Our waitress made a good lunch horrible at the end. I have come here for a night out and I am personally not a huge fan of pour house. Too many people, music isn't that great and somehow there is always a fight that breaks out. THe lines are super long, and once, I had to take a call outside and when I did, they told me the only way to enter back in was to wait at the beginning of the line again. That makes no sense! I had a stamp on my hand and they just saw me walk out. The one thing about this place that shocks me though, is their food and during HH, you can get a whole plate of nachos for $5. Thirty minutes later some sore excuse as a bouncer aka - douchey junior varsity high school football player came storming up screaming for wristbands and then screaming everyone to get out- no manners what so ever. We came for the Jonny Holm Band (who was great). The bouncer frisked my boyfriend at the door because his ID said "firearm endorsement." My boyfriend does NOT have a concealed carry license, but this bouncer thought he had the right to frisk my boyfriend because of the firearm endorsement he obtained for hunting at the age of 12. The other issue was the fact that they have a unisex bathroom, where I personally saw both men and women enter. My boyfriend, however, was grabbed at the collar by a bouncer and told the men need to use the bathroom upstairs when he attempted to use the unisex bathroom. How is this okay? This place is pretty awesome inside.... Two levels, old country saloon style wooded floors and bar areas. Long bar downstairs and a smaller bar upstairs. It also hosts music shows, artists, and DJs. Today I went just to check out the food quality and picked up a Calumet salad for lunch. The bartender, Bella, was sociable, nice, and prompt, actually asking me multiple times about my orders/needs. When I got the Calumet salad and opened it up it looked good.! I was surprised. Great mix of avocado, bacon, bleu cheese dressing, crumbles, diced tomatoes, and green leaf lettuce. Everything tasted decently fresh but the combination of bacon and bleu cheese MADE the salad. Great combination with good flavor!! Pretty darn good.! It's only one dish and I did to-go so I'm only rating it 3 stars, but I would definitely go back for table service and other main dishes to confirm the food quality and dish. read more

This was my first visit. The people were friendly, the service was good, the food was good. I rarely give a 5 star rating. I would have given this place a more detailed review and 4 stars if it weren't for one important thing: the sound level. Our group arrived at about 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., a band started playing and that was the end of conversation. It was so loud that you couldn't talk to the person next to you. Even if I liked the music, this wasn't the place for a loud concert. I would expect this type of music event to be at First Avenue or the Turf Club, not a restaurant. I may go back and try them again for lunch or cocktails late at night, but I won't eat dinner there again. read more

I am not much of a clubber however, if I'm going to spend a night in Minneapolis, the Pourhouse is a must for me. I never fail to have a fun night here. Live music and great people make for good times, and the Pourhouse sure knows how to give that to you. I have never tried the food here at the Pourhouse, but the bartenders do know how to make their drinks. I have never had a bad drink here, so it's always worth the money. I may not be the best dancer or have the smoothest moves, but I love being able to dance the night away to a live band. I like how you are able to jam even when you're upstairs. The two floors are not exclusive, so you can watch the concert from above if you don't want to be down on the dance floor. There's a variety of music that is played, so everyone is pleased. It's a win win for all. Tip: If you're looking to just take a breather and get some fresh air, go out the back door to the alleyway where you can play the hammering nails game (I'm not sure what it's called, so we'll just go with that). It seems to be popular amongst the dudes, but ladies, you can try it too! It's a fun and different way to interact with your friends if you want to take a break from dancing. I have been to the Pourhouse for a private event during the day as well. My experience as a volunteer was a positive one. The staff at the Pourhouse were accommodating to the cause and the goal of the event, and it was an absolute success. I couldn't have thought of a better place to hold the event myself. Place is horrible. Spent $150 whe watching the final four games because they were having a watch party for the games. With 5 minutes left in the game they told us we had to give up our table so they could start up the club. I told them to f-off and I'd move when the game was over. Rudest people ever. Tried to add $50 to our tab because beer during the game was 9.50. That wasn't stated anywhere and the menu on the table said 5.50. Shady place, I do not reccomend. read more

The Pourhouse is not for the poor at all. In fact the only think I was pouring out was my cash to get another drink, and they aren't cheap. The night I was there it was overcrowded, and too loud. The idea of the hidden doorways and passageways is cool, until you find yourself lost and have no idea how to get back to your friends! I have to say there are a few things I like about this place though. They have plenty of bars, so you are never too far away to refill your beverage. They have a beer-pong table and a bean bag games outside, if you can find your way to back. They also get some good bands to play there. I can see why some people love this place, and I can see why others hate it. I'm somewhere in the middle, its just not my style. read more

You would think a prohibition bar would be a bit more hidden but we were welcomed with open arms outside the front door. Walking in I noticed this place looks nothing like spin. It is replaced by numerous tvs, one in particular that stems two floors. I look forward to watching a badger game or two here. We found a spot by the giant jenga and began to play. It took ahwile to get a server and they didnt have drink menus yet but did have a few specialty cockails. One of which was the pantydropper which my husband and his buddy enjoyed. Good news is drinks came fast and they were tasty! The decor is sets a good tone and gives it a bit of a 1920s vibe but not enough for a prohibition type bar. There are multiple bars throught so coming by a drink should be easy. The see through bathrooms have been replaced with a good solid door thankfully. Make sure you go through the bookcase then the fridge to get to beer pong and bean bag toss. Thats if you havent had enough fun with jenga, buck hunter, golden tee, pool, and shuffleboard. Overall a decent vibe, lots to entertain you, and looks to be a good place to watch a game. I just wonder if it can't decide weather its a sports bar or cocktail lounge. read more

I stopped in before a Twins' game with my husband and the place was not very busy (it was a weekday). We were greeted within 10min (although my husband was ready to leave after waiting 5min for someone to approach us), but I noticed the waitress on the phone taking to-go orders, so I didn't fault her for taking a while to get to us. Once she made it to us, my husband ordered the Summit Saga (I think was it's name) on draft and said it was good. I ordered a root beer and the appetizer nachos (I'm preggers and can't drink). The root beer was fine, and the nachos were okay. Overall, it was a so-so experience. The food was ok and service was as well, but the place did have decent Happy Hour specials and even offered a 15%off vet, military, and first responders discount. Also, if you connected on their Wi-Fi, they emailed you a free drink coupon that could be used immediately, which was pretty cool. read more

A friend and I decided to go to The Pourhouse after concert plans fell through and we wanted to go out and enjoy the evening. We scoured Yelp for a cool place, and stumbled across The Pourhouse. I had previously heard good things from friends and always thought to check it out while walking around downtown, so we decided to go for dinner. My friend and I arrived at 9:15 and were seated for dinner without any problems. We ordered way too much food to share, and while the menu consists of typical bar food, we were both surprised at how tasty, aesthetically pleasing, and inexpensive everything was. After we paid, we were just going to try to lay low and stick around for the music at 10:30pm, but the bartenders started walking around with drinks so we helped ourselves to a few. The cover band was actually pretty good and they played tons of 90s and early 2000s hits that the crowd was loving, and when it changed to DJ every 30 minutes or so, they played your usual club music with a healthy dose of sing along hits (Think R.Kelly's Ignition and SexyBack). The place itself is pretty cool - the second floor kind of bends around the lower level so you can see what's going on, and the variety of seating options make it great for a group night out. We saw the "secret door" bookcases swing open every once in a while but we didn't go back there, although I'll be sure to check it out next time I'm there and include a bit about that in this review. The bathrooms are nice too - the ones with the wood doors just up the staircase on the first level have cool newsprint wallpaper, and the stalls to the left were very clean and not typical sketchy bar bathrooms. The last point I want to make is in regards to the crowd - which I quite enjoyed. I don't know if it was just that particular night or if it's always like this, but it was less grungey than First Ave and more chill than most other clubs downtown (read, women a little more clothed and men less rapey), but nicer and a better dance scene than most bars I've been to. So I get it. This spot use to be occupied by 18+ clubs. So if you remember hitting on that hot high schooler here, I understand why you wouldn't want to come back to a low point in your life. That said, the pourhouse is legit (despite the fact it sounds like a place for broke wall street investors). First, I dig the music. The DJ's spinning an hour, the live band goes on for a half, back and forth. It's the right mix for the right crowd. And the crowd, not bad at all. When you have good music, the crowd goes south but the extra $5 cover. All in all, I've drank way more here than I expected. And you should too. Oh..and nice new format Yelp. We went to The Pourhouse in Uptown recently for a MN Lynx-sponsored event and were sorely disappointed! The restaurant was open to the public at the same time on this Sat. night. Food was less than average with bland chicken on my sandwich on a super bland bun and hardly any pesto. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich with bacon and the bacon strip was so small it was almost laughable. French fries were even worse! And this was after waiting over an hour to get her food! My order and that of my spouse took a long time but not quite an hour. They seemed to be woefully understaffed but the waitress never apologized or even acknowledged the slow and poor service. She only checked on us once and that was after we had been there nearly 2 hours! read more

This place is pretty cool! As a visitor to MN I've never had cheese curds, and it just happened that this was the first stop on my Minnesota tour that happened to have them. So I ordered much to the chagrin of my compatriots who were condemning me for not getting the correct ones. Either way i had the Cheese curds here along with a few different local beers and had a chance to walk around the bar/restaurant. This place is pretty nice. Clean and kept up, a little work going on but i love the prohibition era like hidden walk ways to different areas and the fridge that is actually a door. Lastly - the drink specials are pretty good. Again from NYC every drink price here was awesome, but the specials were especially good! I never heard of this but apparently this place, at the end of every month - they have free beer until they empty their taps. What is this insanity!?! This is one of the most interestingly decorated bars/clubs I have ever seen. The service at most bars was average. There are many different floors with different DJ's to allow you to find your perfect spot. There's a ton of character here, and it's definitely where the party's at, but maybe try to pregame a little first if that's your kind of thing.. read more
