Raphael, the manager, is friendly and works with you to figure out how to get things done. I had my car windows tinted with ceramic film here years ago. Recently, a line of bubbles appeared on the rear window along a heater line. Raphael said that it shouldn't have done that and that he could replace it at no cost and would send in the old film to the manufacturer IF I had my receipt. But before going to Premier Window Tinting, I had looked for a receipt in my car files and didn't find one. Raphael suggested looking in my glove box, and there it was! Since it was late on Friday, I made an appointment for the next week and he replaced the ceramic window tint for free! and my rear window is like new. I would like to add an update to my previous review. Not only did I receive poor customer service that time I called in about the bubbling on my back windshield at the time their receptionist would hang up on me when I was asking questions as to why it bubbled that bad and why it was even more with "warranty" to fix their initial poor job. I just managed to take my vehicle to get retinted as the tint was even worse and the tinter explained to be that the tint used on my vehicle was not mad for cars and they had used the incorrect adhesive damaging my window. read more

This shop was recommended to me so I went in with good expectations - it has turned into the worst. I took my RAV4 in for window tint on the two front windows and also the windshield. First time I went in, the employee acted as if helping me was an imposition, when I got my car back it looked ok, he said the bubbles were normal and would go down within 24 hours. About a month later, the windshield STARTS TO PEEL from the corners on the drivers side, I went back in, different employee who also had the worst customer service. He never called me to go back for my car, I realized they were going to close and I headed back. I asked him to sign off on the original receipt that I brought my car back in and he argued that he did not have to do that. It wasn't until my brother stepped in the conversation that he made a note on the receipt. The second time HE SCRATCHED MY CAR, and the ends of the windshield were cut very haphazardly - it legitimately looks like I did it myself with an Amazon kit. If you want to throw away 300$ go on into The Preferred Image, but I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. read more

I'm extremely disappointed that I have to write this review. This is specifically for a stereo install. And I am out $390 because of this company. There are 2 main issues. One with the steering wheel buttons and one with the car's e-brake. I had them install a stereo, and when I went to pick up my car the e-brake light was on and the car was making that annoying beeping sound when the e-brake is on. The e-brake was not on - and so I let them know that the car was having this issue before leaving their facility. They knew that it was happening and suggested that I go to Primo Honda to fix it, because, as they said "They can't fix it. Sometimes this happens during radio installation and they need to ~reset the computer~ to fix it." So I go to Primo Honda and apparently there's no such thing as "resetting the computer." The problem was that they had connected a power cable to the e-brake, which the mechanic at Primo Honda says "you should never do". Primo Honda removes this cable and the brake light goes off. They charge me $240 with this fix and tell me to take the bill to Preferred Image. I go back to Preferred Image and let them know what's going on. They say "You shouldn't have paid that. You should have had them call us. We would have fixed it." I told them - you knew about this problem before I left and *you* told me to go to Primo Honda to fix it. And, I kid you not, they said "If they charged you $5,000 would you have paid it before calling us?" Well, no obviously not. But you caused a problem. You told me that Primo Honda was the only place to solve the problem. I pay Primo Honda what seems like a reasonable amount to solve a problem with the brake system that *you* caused. Anyway, Preferred Image won't pay for it. So I'm out $240. Second issue. They asked me if I wanted to pay an additional $150 to connect the stereo to the buttons on the steering wheel. I didn't realize that was going to be extra when I purchased the stereo from them, but I say yes because that's kind of important. I get the car back and only 50% of the buttons are connected to the stereo (the voice command, call, and call back buttons don't work). I tell them this. They say "Oh, yea, those buttons won't connect to this type of stereo." If that's true, that's fine, but I would not have paid an additional $150 to just have the volume button synced up to stereo. I ask if they could offer a discount because only half the buttons work. They say no. So anyway - I tried to get this installed as a Christmas present to my husband and ended up wasting our family a few extra hundred $$, a whole lot of stress, and a few additional days without a car. If you care about customer service and money - steer clear of Preferred Image when it comes to stereos. read more

Do not take your car here to get tint done. I took my car in to get tinted and got it back with a half ass tint job and upholstery damage. A tall guy and a short guy worked on my car. The tall guy did a great job ( he did the driver side), the short guy who goes by the name of John did the passenger side. Well John did a horrible job on the passenger side so I took it back in to have him redo that side and to show him he damaged my upholstery (mind you he kept finger f*****g it with his long thumb nail while I was showing him). I told him to fix it. I got it back worse then it was. The tint looked worse and the upholstery looked like he took something hot to try to melt it back together. It looks like a 3 year old was put to work on my car. I asked for a refund to help cover the cost to have a professional fix the damage John did to my car. And he said they don't do refunds! So in reality I paid these guys just under $500 for half my windows to be tinted and complementary upholstery damage that I'm looking at about $350 to have fixed. When doing my car, they got the work done in the time they estimated and at a fair price. It was easy for me. Residential windows are a little trickier, but they made that easy too. First, Raphael showed me samples of different kinds of film and walked me through the costs and benefits of each. He made an appointment to return to do the work and he and his crew arrived on time, did what they promised, and except for the reduced heat and glare, left no evidence for they'd been there. Any contractor can do a job, but it's the ones that keep their commitments when there are issues that really impress me. The film on one of the windows bubbled a bit after a few months, and when I contacted Raphael, he fixed it promptly (and at no charge -- the work is 100% guaranteed). This review is long overdue. If you look at the photos, the BMW 645 that was done in December of 2008 is mine. The owners were kind enough to remove my license plate for privacy, and they did a great job. I knew I wanted the windows tinted, but didn't know much else. Raphael helped me pick out film (Geoshield 30) and did a great job on the car. He even redid the drivers window for free a month later when the film got screwed up at a car wash (not his fault). Tinting is hard work. Things happen. Sometimes it takes more than once to get it right. I recommend this business. read more

Great service. I called after going to a different place in town and being quoted $200 to have old tints removed from the back windshield and being told they would also have to remove the defrosters. They were able to get me in the same day and guaranteed they would not need to damage the defrosters. The service was complete in a matter of hours. If your looking to tint your tail lights, DO NOT come to this place. I do not recommend it!! Their service is off chart bad. Dropped my car off at 1 o' clock. They said 2hrs max. Called back at 5, and they said "Oh we tried twice already and we couldn't do it, so give us another 45 mins so we can try once more and you can pick it up." 1 hr pass and I came to pick it up, and it looked like crap. But the guy there made up excuses saying that it'll take a month or so for the bubble to dry. Obviously their cuts are horrible and way off not even straight, looked like if they took scissors and cut the extra off. They didn't even round the tints at the edges they just left it all winkled. read more

I was recommended to The Preferred Image by a few friends that had work done previously. I called in and spoke to Jon who was very attentive to my schedule and ended up booking an appointment. I was told the install would take around three hours to complete tinting 7 windows. So a little worried I explained that I was on a tight schedule and would need my car back by 1:30 ( three hours exactly). Around 11:30 I received a call from Jon saying my car was ready... I used these guys about five years ago to tint a new vehicle of mine. I had to bring the vehicle back a couple of times to address some issues with the tint. They were responsive to this and addressed the issues. One thing I was left with was a razor blade slice into the weather stripping on one window. Although this bothered the hell out of me, I was able to forget it and move on. Fast forward five years and I am in need of tint on another new vehicle. I give Preferred Image the benefit of the doubt and bring the new car to them for tint. Upon picking the car up I notice three large (repetitive motion) scratches on the drivers side interior panel. Mind you, the car has less than 200 miles. I speak to John about this and he has no idea where they came from and does not acknowledge that they could have caused by the shop. I point out quite a few areas where there are bubbles/wrinkles in the tint. He says to give it a week to cure and if they are still there then come back. Needles to say the issues do not go away and I end up bringing the car back. They agree to address the issues at their cost. I pick up the car and notice a few issues that John is able to address on the spot. Driving down the road I notice two familiar slices in the weather stripping and am blown away at the shear lack of any real attention to detail. I call them back to let them know I would gladly pay more money for tint not to have them damage my new car. I hope you find a quality shop to do your tint and don't have to go through the frustrations I have. read more

Came here to get my 2008 Impala tinted 3months ago. Loved it! it took 3-4hours but I didn't mind because I work up the street.. I ended up selling my Impala and got a 2013 Sonata the same day I went to get it tinted took 2hours. very happy it made my car look so much better. I heard of this place from my father In-law who brought his Charger and truck here. I did call places in Oakland and San Francisco and they wanted $280-300 wayyyy more then the preferred image. so this will be my go to place for tints. read more

Since we were the first customers of the day, everything was done in less than two hours (it was probably more like one hour) at the price they quoted me originally. They did an excellent job on the tint and service was quick. Good location, and they even gave me a ride to work after I dropped off the car. The only reason I'm Giving 4 Stars instead of 5 is that they didn't honor a quote that they had given me over email: I asked how much it would cost to tint front passenger, rear passenger, and rear window on a 2008 Acura TSX; they quoted me $200. However, when I arrived with email in hand they told me it would actually be $275. First they told me that it would be extra because of the rear window, then because of the felt lining to protect the tint. When I ask for a quote, I expect to be given one that will be honored, especially if I've provided the make and model, and I know for a fact that they've worked on that make and model in the past. read more

Now, i'm no car expert. and i've never had a car tinted before. we decided to get it done because of our 2 young children that sit in the back and appear helpless as the sun beats mercilessly down on them. We have refused thus far to get a minivan- they all seem to be tinted out. so we thought this would be good to keep the car cool, keep their car seats from fading out, and hopefully not need to have to damn ugly roll down suction cupped things on the windows. hell they aren't that big and the sun always seems to be shining in the direction that the screen won't block it right. The preferred image did a great job on our mercedes. Its an older S, and they said it was difficult because the class is double pane, and they fit very tight, and the weather stripping was difficult to deal with. the guy that worked on my car had practically the same model as i did, and he said it took him most of a day to dint his car (he did all 4 doors and the rear glass.) i left worried that it might take longer than the 2 hours they promised. I got just the back doors and the rear window covered in 20%. So left with the 2 kids and wife to take care of some errands in palo alto. only an hour later the called me to let me know that i had some damaged wood molding on the rear door. i told them that it was ok, the glass guy that replaced the smashed window did that. I really appreciated that call. it shows attention to detail, and an understanding of people that drive cars they care about. the glass guy never called me back nor did they do anything to fix the problem. (its really minor so i didn't chase them down about it) then 45 minutes later, i get another call telling me the car is done. wallah! faster than they told me it would be done. now how often does that happen???? the job looks great. tightly fitted to the edges, high quality film, no finger prints, clean car, no trimmings lying about, lifetime warranty. what else can you ask for... price was fair too. just a little lower than just about everybody else i called. so i give this a highest rating although i always think of working on cars as pass or fail. read more

The owner of this business needs to take a serious course in customer service. I drove 50 minutes in heavy traffic this morning to arrive for my 9:30 appointment. When I arrived the door was locked and no one was in the shop. I waited around and still no one arrived. I left two messages on there answering machine asking them to call me when they arrived and I decided to go for a coffee at Starbucks. At 10:00 I had still not heard back from them. So, I called again. The "owner" answered the phone and I asked him why he had not called me. He told me that he was running late (over 30 minutes) and that told me that I did NOT leave any messages (I speed dialed the same number that I left the messages on). When I told him that I had drove 50 minutes to be on time for my appointment he said, oh, well I guess I just was running late this morning. I was not very happy with his lack of customer service and inconsideration of my time. Then he told me he didn't like my attitude and was not going to service my car. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS OWNER ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!! This man gives small business owners a bad name. I didn't like his attitude. read more

I had taken my 2005 VW Passat Wagon here right after I purchased it new 5 years ago. They did an awesome job! Not only were they done sooner than the 4 hour quote, the car was spotless! So when I got an older Mercedes Wagon, they were the first place I thought of. I figured it would be a bit more expensive because the car is bigger and the windows are bigger as well. Nope! I was quoted the same price, much to my delight! These guys are super friendly over the phone and in person. Excellent They are competitively priced for ceramic film and I used them last year to put it all my car windows. They put it on within 2 hours and it has dramatically cooled my car from the hot south bay sun rays! Best of all after a few minutes of air conditioning the car is very comfortable & cool even when the outside temp is over 90-100F. I selected The Preferred Image after reading Yelp reviews. I was in an unusual situation, as I had my windows tinted years ago in another state, and got pulled over in California for having my rear window tint over the third brake light. So I needed a shop to actually *remove* window tint from a small area in my car's back window. I stopped in one Monday afternoon to ask if they could do that (I'd do it myself, but I don't know anything about window tint and figure I'd just mess it up). It was around Noon-thirty and the door was locked and nobody was there, despite the hours on the door saying they were open. I phoned from my cell and nobody answered. I called the next day and spoke with Raphael. He said sometimes they have to go out to do a window on-site someplace and have to leave briefly. I told him about my window tint problem and he said they were busy and we agreed I'd call back the next day. The next day I called, they said to come on in, I did, and they removed the tint over the third brake light in about 15 minutes. They did a great job and charged me just $20. I'm very pleased. I'd definitely go there for window tinting, if my windows weren't already tinted. read more

This place is a total joke!! I took my brand new car here for them to COMPLETE a stereo installation that was already in progress (boyfriend and his friend did the majority of the install and had done a better than professional job). Unfortunately, due to my impatience and availability issues, they did not complete the installation. I went over to Preferred Image based on the positive Yelp reviews. I spoke with the owner and specifically told him what needed to be completed and asked for an estimate. He gave me a quote and I returned a few days later to have them complete the install. Upon picking up my car, my blue tooth wire was installed in a spot other than where I was told it would be. My IPOD cord (which my boyfriend had put an extension on so I could listen to my IPOD in the interim) was connected through my glove box, extension and all (this is after I specifically told them that the extension was not to be included). They broke my hazard blinker button...When I brought it to their attention, they did not accept responsibility for it. Rather, they told me to go to Mazda and said that the button would be covered under my warranty (which it wasn't because the stereo installers broke it). Lastly, my car was filthy when they were done with it. Finger prints and smudge marks all over my brand new (tan interior) vehicle. After finding out that Mazda could do nothing (since it wasn't a warranty issue), I returned to Preferred Image to advise the owner of the less than average job they had done on my vehicle. All he kept saying was that "that is what you told us to do, we did what you told us to do". If you want me to fix it it will cost you $80 additional. So sorry...I think NOT!! They should have fixed what they messed up at no cost. Moral of the story: This place is horrible and they lack professionalism. They won't take accountability for their errors. Needless to say, I will NEVER return. I will tell anybody I know who asks for a stereo install/window tint recommendation to steer clear of this pathetic establishment! read more

HORRIBLE JOB!!!! I originally took my 2011 Chevy 3500 in to have all the windows tinted right after I purchased it. Within 3 days the drivers side window started peeling, and within a week all 4 side windows were peeling or had bubbles or BOTH. I called and let them know about this problem, and they wouldn't make any extra time for me during the week (I have to stay at work until 4:30) so I had to take time on the weekend to go in. I was there on a Saturday morning when they opened, as I had told them I would be. They told me it would take approx. 2 1/2 - 3 hours to redo all the windows. I left for about an hour and a half and came back to find they had only stripped the tint off of two of the windows and my truck was STILL sitting outside. I truly feel they were going to try and leave the other two windows and hope I didn't notice. Only after I pointed this out did they take the rest of the tint off and do what they should have done in the first place. Overall, it was a horrible experience and they took MORE than 3 hours to finish the job. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!! read more

I called this morning looking for a place that could tint my car right away. Raphael quoted me a price I was happy with and off I went! He took his time and did not mind me watching while he worked. What a nice guy! He answered my questions as if it was nothing. He was friendly and great to deal with. I think I've found my new go to tint shop! Update: bubbles everywhere! I went back to have it fixed and the guy had no idea what brand and tint percentage it was. He then told me they shred all their paperwork every three months. I'll never go back!! read more
