I am not one for sports bar/grill type places but I LOVE the Press Box. The menu and decor has a cute baseball/athletic theme, small tvs at every booth table,the food choices have simple and delicious ingredients, and the prices are pretty reasonable! Don't expect dirt cheap but for the quality it is exceptional. My boyfriend and I had a grilled chicken pesto panini on wheat and a classic bacon burger. Both were delicious, and we spent around 25 bucks. TIP- most sandwiches and burgers come with a pickle and potato chips, if you want French fries be prepared to pay a little extra! Every year we go to Oswego for our annual salmon fishing trip. We usually go to the Pressbox because it's across the street from our hotel. We won't make that mistake again. The food is usually ok but this year one of the specials listed was a lobster salad sandwich for $9.99. I thought that was a great price and didn't really think that they would use that CHEAP DISGUSTING IMITATION LOBSTER MEAT. Well they did. I should have sent it back but didn't. The IDIOT that made the decision to deceive customers should be fired! Doesn't NY state have laws against false representation. Anyway you should be ashamed of serving such utter CRAP! read more

This is what a sports bar in this area should look and feel like. Plenty of screens everwhere, too many waitresses, decent beer selection, I d prefer more choices but I can be a beer snob. Came here after work cause my friend wanted to stop here. My problem was I was still full from lunch cause work catered in a smorgasbord lunch and hours later I wasnt hungry and it was dinner time so I ate light . Anyway, my pal wanted the pulled pork nachos something Id never order but was fantastic!! I then had the club sandwich which was decent but I was FULL!! Sampled several beers which were good. Press box is a great place to check out "the game," whether it's a football game that is obnoxiously only on the NFL network, or a hockey or baseball game to watch with a group of friends, the Pressbox is a great place to do it. They have a number of beautiful HD televisions with digital cable and satellite giving them the ability to pull in many different feeds and most of then in high-def. They have decent pub fare. Their selection of beers on tap usually include Shocktop, Bass, Harp, Smithwicks, Bud, and Sam. During the summer they have a deck to enjoy the seasonable weather too. read more

Also, never heard of a place only have 8 wings in an order instead of 10 or 12... especially for $11/order. Not to mention the wings were tiny, not extra crispy like as ordered, and the sauce was horrible. Never in my life have I had sweet and sour sauce on wings for their mild sauce. Our server was very bitter, didn't really care to be there at all, hardly spoke to us and didn't really ask if we needed anything. We were very new here and weren't aware of what drinks to get, what were meal favorites or anything. so of course, we ordered the wrong things and I didn't even ask about what wine to get because she seemed so unhappy and not wanting to help. You know when you order a salad and you get iceberg white, you're in trouble. My lunch companions reported the pesto sauce had no pesto, the chili sauce for the popcorn shrimp had no spice. In general, the food was mediocre at best. The service was worse.. my daughter had to make two request and wait 20 minutes for her water. We were served 40 minutes after we arrived. We would never return because Alex's across the street at the Best Western had great, flavorful food, great drinks and great service. I mead a half star option for this one. read more

Love the Press Box!! Been coming here for over twenty years- dating back to my college years at Oswego State. Returned recently with the family during a hockey weekend tournament at the local rink. Staff quickly seated our (pre-arranged) party of 50 players and parents (mid-afternoon on a Saturday). Press Box was exactly what I fondly remembered about it: friendly/attentive service; casual sports bar/pub food and a laid back atmosphere. Probably why I spent many a college night here in my youth! Food was good and there were many diverse items (of the pub fare nature) to chose from. Again- staff worked hard to make sure that boys were taken care of. My boyfriend and I just came from The Pressbox and everything was beyond what we were expecting. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and my boyfriend ordered southwest burger with fries. My pizza was perfect with Italian seasonings. He says his burger could have been a bit spicer but overall it was really good. Horribly unhealthy food. Even the salads are full of bacon, cheese, other saturated fats, and sugary sweet salad dressings. I will say that they do have quite a variety of interesting veggies on their menu. But they're always paired with bread (white, not whole-grain), cheese, steak, etc. Not a legume in sight. We were seated promptly, that's about the best I can say for the place, after that it was all downhill. The table full of college kids next to us came in well after us, but had their drinks and food order taken before anyone offered us water. I was ready to leave, but my wife flagged down the waitress taking care of the college kids. She took our order, eventually a different waitress delivered our order. Our food was okay, it was warm but certainly not hot, and certainly nothing to rave about. Standard bill of fare in every sports bar everywhere. It spent some considerable time under a heat lamp before it got to us. We had to flag down the waitress to get the check otherwise we might still be sitting there waiting. The place just was not that busy! Our waitress seamed bothered at having to take time away from the college kids to serve us. In total we spent an hour and 45 minutes for a burger and fries with a beer and an order of chicken fingers for my wife. The poor performance cost our waitress when it was time for me to leave a tip and next time we're in town we will certainly avoid this place... A very disappointing sports bar! read more

Might be ok if you catch them while they are open... Website says they are open until 2am daily. Went in Sunday at 10 and they had closed the kitchen before 9. Bartender said they always close the kitchen early but stay open for beers until late. Tried again Monday at 1030 to watch the world series and NFL with some beers and this time I was told they were closed completely, though the staff was still hanging around. As far as I can tell the only reason to try again is 1) across from the hotel and 2) cute bartender Lauren was super nice. Good luck. read more

The Press Box is one of the more popular spots for lunch in Oswego. The food is decent, especially for a sports bar. They've recently renovated / upgraded by improving their huge outdoor deck as well as adding several more televisions inside. Almost all of the indoor tables have a small LCD TV on the wall next to each table. They have satellite and cable TV, so you can watch just about any game / show you want. If you love to watch the game while eating and drinking, this is the place to go. If, like me, you think people who like sports are confusing, you can have a great time watching the discovery channel and making fun of sports lovers. Having lunch outside on a nice summer day in Oswego is one of my favorite things, and this is one of the best places for it. read more

As another yelper said, it's all terribly unhealthy. That said, it's tasty. If you go for breakfast, you can't go wrong with an omelet, but the Belgian waffles are where it's at. Lunch and dinner offerings include a bunch of good sandwiches and such. Each booth has its own TV, which is a nice touch, and there are several larger TVs around the room playing whatever sports programming is on. The atmosphere is what you'd expect of a sports bar. The patio was comfortable with a nice (distant ) view of Lake Ontario, and the food was good enough for me to wipe my plate clean. Fried zucchini was delicious and the criss cut fries were good too. The Press box is definitely an Oswego staple. It is a nice space particularly during the warmer months when they have outside seating and service. The food is good (not great) , definitely bar food. I have been to this location many times and have received hit and miss service. Take this review with a grain a salt as I visited during COVID restrictions. My visit from the start didn't start off well as after my group was seated, no one came to take our orders for close to 20 minutes. I had to get up and ask for service and was told that they were unaware we weren't being served. We have tried 6 different things between the two of us and they all have been really great. This is our favorite restaurant in Oswego!
