We had been few years back for our anniversary and ever since then we had wanted to go back. The waiter did his best to gather extra chairs and we were able to all fit at the round table. To my amazement, we had found a spot for the night to celebrate my birthday. The waiter asked what we had wanted to start with besides water for everyone. We got a bottle of red wine started and some margaritas along with a manhattan. Then afterwards couple of fish tacos and some carne asada arrived. We had great drinks and tasty food. Everything is delicious and so much great fun vibes. A definite memorable birthday to remember at this small but fantastic bar. Here's to coming back to the Dragon Room bar sooner.

We were surprised to learn the bar has been closed a few months for renovations, and we are some of the first to wander in before their soft re-opening Tuesday (5/5). What an incredible addition to Santa Fe's arts and entertainment scene! Everything about our…read moreexperience was wonderful. The venue itself, a former warehouse, was amazing. A nondescript door with a simple "B" on it (like a secret jazz club in an alley) opens into a high-ceilinged cavernous space with brightly colored Native American "tapestries" hanging from the ceiling. There aren't that many tables, so somehow this open, airy space feels intimate, and there aren't any bad seats in the house. All the staff were warm and friendly. Our server, Kirsten, was especially welcoming and made us feel like important guests. Someone who seemed like the manager or owner came by and warmly asked how we were doing and if everything was okay. The only odd thing about the service was that it took a long time to get our drinks and place our dinner order...but I chalked that up to how early we were and how that made for a relaxed pace of things. (I'd mistakenly thought you had to finish dinner before the performance, so I made our reservation for 5:30 for a 7:00 performance. In actuality, you can eat, drink, and order more throughout the performance.) The food was delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect since the club is owned by a bakery, but I was impressed and pleased at the quality of all that we had. We started with the special crostini with oyster mushrooms and two kinds of cheese. For dinner we had the margherita pizza and the fish and chips (garlic-rosemary fries). Both were very good. We finished with the Tres Leches cake - moist and delightful. And the prices were very reasonable (most entrees around $20, all desserts $11). The act, the John Funkhouser Trio, was phenomenal. It was classic jazz club music, and all three musicians were just amazingly talented. They played two solid one-hour sets. All were relaxed and smiling, and Mr. Funkhouser spoke conversationally to the audience every couple of songs, talking about the songs and telling stories. It was quite enjoyable. The acoustics were perfect, probably no small feat in a giant former warehouse. We did not expect it to sound that great, so we were very pleased! It wasn't too loud, either - something we were both watching for. I would recommend arriving on the earlier side to be sure of getting a parking space. I don't know what people do who arrive in less than an hour before the performance...but there is also street parking on San Mateo, though that is also limited. We had a great time and will most definitely be back!!

I'll be dreaming of this burger! My husband and I each got one. The tater tots side was a huge amount and they were seasoned to perfection, super crispy. The coleslaw had a delicious flavor and cut through the heartiness of the burger. 5 stars for Second Street Brewery just for the Alien Burger!! Eat it, right now! The beers were a range of great to OK. The brown ale was our favorite! The bitter was very good. The two hazy IPAs were not great... When we arrived, the service experience was pretty confusing. We were told to order from different people, our server was overwhelmed with a big table, so we ordered from the bar. But the server excused himself and was really cool in the end. There's tons of seating inside, and an outdoor patio, so this is a great spot for groups. And we got to meet the Chef, he was so nice!! Gave him massive compliments on the burger ;) We will 100% be back to Second Street Brewery when in Santa Fe, I'll be fantasizing about their Alien Burger until then!! Support local and do yourself a favor, check them out today!

We had a great experience at Second Street Brewery! The food was amazing. We ordered the cauliflower wings and the Alien Burger. I loved that we mentioned we were going to split it and it came already cut and in separate plates! The Hatch chile inside the burger was so good and I'm always a fan of avocado in my burger. We also got a beer flight to try a few of their brews. Everything was solid! I really enjoyed the crisp pilsner, and my boyfriend was a big fan of the IPAs. Our server was super kind and even offered us dessert because we helped him with a bet, which was funny. We were too full to try it, but the gesture alone was greatly appreciated! The space itself is big, and they even have a small stage, which I'm guessing is for live music. They also have a dog-friendly patio (always a plus!) Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in Santa Fe!
