It's true that I don't go out downtown as much anymore, but rec room was a regular haunt for me back in the day. While the age of the crowd has gotten younger or maybe I've gotten older the welcoming vibes that rec room offers to all walks of life is undeniable. I remember it being busy in the past, but never as packed as I saw it last night. Still a great time but cutting through the crowd to get to the bathroom was nothing short of Olympic athleticism. That said, I remember having an absolute blast. The bartenders were super friendly, welcoming, and stayed on top of everything even though the place was busy. I just ordered vodka sodas, so I can't really comment on the cocktail menu, but my drinks were exactly what I expected every time. I didn't try any of the food, so I can't speak to that, but if you know me, you know I'm a sucker for a good photo booth. They had one, and I definitely used it more than once. It was such a fun addition to an already great night. Between the friendly staff, fun atmosphere, and the photo booth, this ended up being one of my favorite bars I visited in Charleston. I'd absolutely go back the next time I'm in town.

I just had a vodka soda, so I can't really speak to the rest of the drink menu, but it was made perfectly every time. My friend was drinking Crown and water, and he enjoyed his drinks as well. The thing that really stood out to me, though, was the atmosphere. I've been to bars that have dollar bills on the ceiling or scattered on a few walls, but I've never seen anything like The Griffon. The place is absolutely covered from floor to ceiling in dollar bills. It was such a unique sight and made for a really fun experience. I didn't try any of the food, so my review is based solely on the drinks, service, and atmosphere. If you're looking for a fun bar with a great vibe, I'd definitely recommend stopping in. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in Charleston.

They opened in 1998 and have been a place to enjoy cold drinks and cheap eats ever since. They have very convenient parking with a free parking lot about a block away. It has a dive bar vibe while still being approachable and friendly service who does their best to make you feel at home. They are especially They are known for the quality of the food they serve. We started with their fried pierogies. These tasty dumplings are fried until golden brown and stuffed with mashed potatoes and chives with sour cream for dipping. A flavorful way to start your meal. We had to try their wings and they did not disappoint! We tried the garlic parmesan and the hot honey garlic. Both had nice garlic flavor and the hot honey provided a great, sweet heat. They get points for being generous with the celery. I tried the Polish Kielbasy with sauerkraut, peppers and onions on a toasted hoagie roll. The sausage itself was huge, and I could not finish it but not for a lack of trying. I got the onion rings for a two-dollar upcharge, and it was worth the price. Perfectly crispy with a tasty batter that didn't fall apart. My wife had their popular Rutledge burger with pimento cheese, bacon and a fried tomato with mixed greens. The burger was thick and juicy with a crispy char and was so filling my wife could not finish hers either. On Tuesdays they offer half priced burgers which is a pretty epic deal. So be sure to check out what I call the "Cheers of Charleston" and be pleasantly surprised.

I dont make excuses but my father had a heart procedure early January and relapsed 3x in 2 weeks. there was a couple times where I was there and had to leave suddenly and said screw the card and the tab. I projected this information, felt ashamed for it, and instead of courtesy when I asked to leave my tab open on my very established debit card... it was ran and charged twice. I wanted to pay cash bc I needed my card to uber back to roper dt. instead I walked from park circle, to bexley/south Rhett in 30 or below temps while it rained. what happend to locals and true hospitality with understanding? especially when u have become a regular and paid more than u are expected. whats with the 10 dollar surcharge that isn't taken off when u close out? im curious....
