Beware! Don't go here if you want good service or decent food. Today, my friend and I decided to have lunch in to the Purple Pub. Two very disturbing things happened: First, as we were arriving, another group was just leaving. We overheard one person in the party say to another, "That was a TERRIBLE lunch!" Hmmm. Not a good sign. The second thing to happen was much worse. The obviously overworked waitress on the floor sat us in a corner table. So far, so good. As we were looking over the menu, my friend suddenly screamed out in pain. Turns out he had just been stung on the neck by a large black wasp. The waitress walked over and in a casual, nonchalant voice commented, "Oh, we've had an infestation of those (wasps) lately." Then she added lamely, "You should put some ice on that sting." Not, "Oh my God! Let me get you some ice to put on that right away!" Not, "Are you okay?" She showed no concern at all. Incredulous, I cried, "A wasp infestation? Are you kidding??" She calmly replied, "It's on our patio, not inside the restaurant." And with that she walked away. Still reeling from the pain, my friend asked to be reseated to another table. The waitress begrudgingly obliged, but then she totally disappeared. After sitting there for ten minutes with nobody coming by to check on us or take our order, we got up in disgust and left. The place had a very bad vibe. That waitress I'm sure was having a lousy day. But that's no reason for her thoughtless, rude treatment. (Lord only knows what disease we would have gotten from their food.) We went elsewhere for lunch. read more

This is a good place to have a drink or two with a pretty good atmosphere. I would stay away from the food, though. In particular, don't order a salad. Went there Sunday, July 7, 2019. We (two of us) split a nacho and a cobb salad with chicken. At $17.95 we should have sent the salad back since it looked like a side salad, the kind you add-on to an entree for $4-5. The chicken part was pathetic and, as it turns, out gave us both bad stomach aches all night. The nacho was a 3.5 on a scale of 1-10. My wife didn't want to complain because she was hungry and didn't want to wait longer or go someplace else. The food used to be ok a few years back but they don't seem to be trying any more. There specialty Fish and Chips was strange, it took a sharp knife to get through the batter, the chips were good, the fish tacos were dangerous, we needed to ask the waiter what the black stuff was (avocados) and we were charged extra for the sour cream and salsa. On the positive side we were not charged for the tacos and our server was very understanding. read more

The first time I went here the service was incredibly slow. It was like pulling teeth to get the waiter to help us out. It took forever to get our drinks and food and another 10 mins to get silverware after our food had been served to us. The food was delicious which was the only redeeming quality. The second time I tried to go, in hopes that the bad service was a one time thing, we didn't end up staying. We had just finished seeing a show at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and wanted something to eat. It was 10:00pm on a Saturday night 4th of July weekend. We got there and found out the kitchen was closed! It seemed like such a waste, why not have the kitchen open later on a holiday weekend when the shows just down the street were getting out?? We had to go somewhere else to eat. Not that I minded much, the music was so loud we would have gotten headaches if we had stayed. As one of the only food options in Williamstown, you would think they would want to stay open later in the summer. read more

Average pub food. It was busy the Sunday afternoon we stopped in. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server. He was nice, however, I think the kitchen was short staffed that day. This is a good location, but they have some of the slowest service I've ever seen, and the waiters and waitresses are not friendly. The food is alright, but pretty overpriced. On time: I've gone there with 5 people, ordering burgers for everyone, and it took 1 hour for them to get it to us, even though there were only 4 other tables in the house. This seems to be a consistent thing for most who've gone there, as it's been for me. On quality (although probably not representative of everything): Another time I ordered a panini takeout, from them, and they not only left out one of the ingredients, but it was put together pretty carelessly. If there were other restaurants open at 9pm, I would not choose to go here. read more

Food here is great, and our server was very good too. However, it took us almost 90 minutes for lunch on a Friday at noon. I think there were two bottlenecks - 1) not enough wait staff, and 2) kitchen is slow. A faster experience would have certainly earned the fifth star. I really enjoyed my panini and the beer selections. My dining companion loved her burger. The atmosphere is great, and on a nice day there is an outdoor "patio" area that looked nice. Pricing is good value, so really no complaints aside from how long it took them! Oh well, we weren't in a hurry so it didn't cause any issues, but had we been trying to enjoy a 45 minute lunch it would have ruined our plans. If I'm ever back on the campus of Williams College I'll go back to the Purple Pub for sure. read more

I like this place. A little pricey on drinks but the food is decent. They have $5 burgers on certain days which is nice. I love the looks of the new place. The decor is very modern looking. I love the high top tables. In the summer they have outdoor seating and the windows can be opened like doors which is cool. They don't have their own parking lot but you can park in the Spring Street lot and walk down or park on the street. Its a great place to hang with friends. read more

We decided to have lunch here after a day at The Clark. We decided to sit at the bar. I was impressed with their extensive beer selection. We decided to order the Homemade Chips appetizer, it was paired with blue cheese dressing. I ordered a Chicken Ranch Panini and one of the many IPA's that were on tap. Food was very tasty. Just had a surprisingly great lunch here! Sombrero was closed, and this is behind it, so we sat on the patio. (Inside is good for watching sports.) Wasn't expecting much from the bar food menu, but we were all pleasantly surprised. The salsa is homemade and very fresh and delicious. Two of us had Cobb salads and loved them. Turkey club wasn't huge (especially for $13), but fresh and good nonetheless. Phyllis and Gemma loved the onion rings as well (though they don't compare to the rings at Teds Fish Fry in NY's Capital Region). And I can safely say that this was the first time I've ever had onion rings, edamame and chips and salsa at the same time. And our server, Rebecca, was new and did a great job! read more

There were 6 of us eating here on a Thursday night. The service was fast and the food was great. We went around the table and from young to old everyone loved their meal. This was a disappointing dining experience. The bar itself is cool witH a nice vibe mixing a college sports bar and a craft beer bar. Sadly, the waitstaff did not live up to the expectations..the wait staff left us waiting at the door for nearly 5 minutes. When we were finally seated, our table was dirty and we had to wait another 5 minutes for our waitress to come over. She greeted us with a simple'" can I get you something to drink?"She came back 10 minutes later with our drinks and left without taking our order. By the time she came back we had been there over 30 minutes and were watching other people who came in after us eating their lunch. Predictably it took 25 more minutes for the food to come our. She dropped the food on the table and walked away without noticing that she hadn't brought out napkins and silverware. I had to flag her down to get her to bring them over. I started to protest the terrible service to which she simply turned and walked away without a word.The food was actually pretty good but by this point I was too frustrated with the service to enjoy the meal. I completely understand when a server is swamped and things take awhile but the restaurant was not busy and this was simply lazy, disinterested service with the manager sitting at the bar watching his staff neglect their customers. My boyfriend and I came for dinner on Friday night at 7 and sat at the bar. Atmosphere is lovely, and had a tap list of about 15 beers. The food was good, and I enjoyed the homemade chips. The hamburger was a little over cooked and the fries were cold. However the bartender that served us was terrible. We watched her take gum out of her mouth with her bare hand and throw it in the garbage and proceeded to make drinks with straws and fruit without washing her hands. She also cared more about talking to her friends at the bar than serving her customers. We sat with empty glasses for about 10 mins each time they were empty while she chatted. read more

The dessert was not what it was advertised to be and when that was pointed out to the staff, no satisfaction was forthcoming. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I will not go back. read more

Came here for a dinner after visiting the Clark. We are both vegetarian. We asked for the sweet potatoe fries and blue cheese but omit the bacon. They left it on. I did not realize it until it was too late. Wait staff was only average. No refills on water even though I also had a beer. The black bean burgers were good. Nice atmosphere. Food was average pub food. Not sure I would come back after the bacon fiasco and little apology from the waitress. She told us we should have told her. I did not know!!! Nice beer selection. I ordered a hamburger with salsa and fried jalepeños. It was average (in the sense of being uninspired; taste was fine and it was cooked the way I wanted). Salsa can mean a lot of things; this was a pureed salsa that could have come out of a jar and it was cold. The fried jalepeños added a little zip to the burger. Fries were tasty, though, and a decent portion. I was there for lunch on a Saturday and the wait for service was not long at all. read more

We're from out of state and were on our way from the Clark to the Mass MoCA and decided to find a place for lunch in between. The Purple Pub looked good from the outside so we decided to try it. Though the offerings were good enough, it did not take long to determine that either Purple Pub was having a bad day or that service is just awful. The place was only half full but It still took over ten minutes for drinks to be delivered. Another fifteen minutes went by before the waitress took our order. Then a half hour went by before it was delivered (that long for soup and a salad?), and not completely to satisfaction, because a side order of onion rings had cooled off to pretty much room temperature by then. The waitress apologized profusely, but it was clear that this was either not her fault, or not entirely her fault. We observed how the bar tender seemed to be chatting away with customers at the bar a lot, and only after being social tended to filling drink orders. Next time we are in Williamstown we shall go elsewhere. read more

We found this place on August 5 for dinner. It has potential. The menu offers a lot of delicious and healthy choices and we were quite pleased with the food. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Our female server knew nothing about the drafts on tap, barely smiled and never returned to check on us until we had finished our meal and drinks. There is stiff competition in N. Adams for other pubs and we regretted not returning to those. If you do go, take Megan's advise and order 2 drinks in advance. read more

Ate here last weekend. I got a bbq chicken sandwich and my wife got the pulled pork sandwich. Both were not good. My bbq chicken sandwich had no bbq sauce. The bartender took it back and they doused it in cold bbq sauce. I was hoping for a nice hot marinated bbq chicken sandwich. My wife said the pulled pork was very dry and had minimal bbq sauce or flavor. The fries were very good. The bartender made strong drinks, but we only were able to get one the entire time as she seemed preoccupied. We went at around 7PM on a Saturday and there weren't many people in there. We should have recognized this red flag. Overall I would not recommend or go back. Looked like a cool place, and I have heard great things about it so maybe it was an off night, but just too many issues to overcome. read more

Thursday $5 burger night is practically a local institution. Service can be slow, especially on Thursdays and nights when there are people in town, but burgers are generally large and juicy. The drink menu isn't great, but there's a decent selection of beers. It's a fun place to grab a few friends, a high table, and have dinner and hang out. Stay away - despite the cute name. The food is poor, the restaurant unclean, the employees unfriendly. We visited with a puppy we didn't want to leave in the car - had her tied up with a bowl of cold water and requested an empty table outside or near the open front so we didn't have to have one of our party with her at all times. The manager, a little man sweating profusely through the armpits of his beige tshirt and down his forehead under a red baseball cap, was harried and unkind. Even as additional tables opened and we asked kindly to move (having no food or drink yet) he repeatedly declined. The food was sub mediocre: greasy pulled pork, greasy chicken wings, dry cheeseburger, cardboard homemade potato chips.. The nachos were passable. Service was slow and curt even as the restaurant emptied out. The restrooms were in terrible shape with refuse on the floor, out of toilet paper etc. Avoid! read more
