Common Table is a Cheshire gem of a restaurant. Beautifully detailed in calm, cozy serene hues of charcoal with hints of verdant potted plants. Service is warm and highly attentive. We enjoyed for dinner: To Start- Warm baguette with herbed oil, along with Naan Tacos (yummy) For Entrées: Caribbean Style Statler chicken (could've used a hint of scotch bonnet & ginger, but it was good), and the Common Burger (delicious) with matchstick fries. I was amazed how packed this restaurant was on an off-season Saturday night. Off the beaten path in the tiny town on Cheshire, the parking lot was full, the bar was hopping, and the diners clearly enjoying themselves. How great! We loved it too. The main feature is locally sourced fresh ingredients prepared in an unusual way. I loved the crispy soy/maple salmon on a bed of hash consisting of brussel sprouts, potatoes and celery root puree. My wife Statler chicken was crisp and juicy. But you can also get incredible looking sandwiches. My eyes locked onto the cod reuben. How unusual, yet easy to understand. Entrees stay in the mid 30s, so don't expect a cheap night if you add an appetizer, wine and dessert. (Btw, ask to tour the wine closet). However, farm fresh food is worth it to me. The room is good looking and comfortable. It is a little noisy with all the happy people, but not too bad at all. I will be back. And I will bring my picky friends visiting from New York. read more

Absolutely wonderful meal ! We came to celebrate Valentine's Day a day early and it was so worth it! Started with an amazing Walnut old fashioned. The salmon and linguini with clams were amazing along with the appetizer. In fact, there is not one bad thing we can say. Service was incredible and the meal was paced just right. The atmosphere walking through the door to the newly located establishment was so inviting. The bar area has a few high top tables as well and the dining areas plenty of tables along with their signature common table in the center. There were two other dining areas for special requests and private parties. All areas were tastefully decorated. We were seated at one of the high tops in the bar area which was very comfortable. Our meal choices consisted of the Autumn Salad mixed greens, roasted delicata squash & Brussels sprouts, cranberries, toasted pecans, goat cheese, maple-dijon vinaigrette which we paired with the Autumn and Apple Brie Common Crust made with shaved apples, creamy Brie, spinach, fresh sage and a maple glaze. Both dishes were plentiful, very tasty and nicely presented by very attentive wait staff. We finished off with the apple cider donut sundae to satisfy our sweet tooth. My experience there was very disappointing. I had reserved a table for 4 asking for a QUIET table. Unfortunately my asking didn't help. It was so loud it made the dinner exhausting. My hamburger with jam was so-so. Honestly it lacked flavor. The water $7.00 for the bottle stunned all of us. I wish we had been informed about the price and would have simply requested tap water. The owner/ manager did delete the charge on the water after discussing it with the waitress..... Again.... Very disappointed. read more

It took one hour to get drinks, and another hour and a half to get food that was subpar. From overly salty fries, bland food, and extremely small portion for one of the meals. Waitress didn't ask how the food was, and wouldn't make eye contact for the two and a half hours that we waited for food. Will never go there again. People came and went while we waited. We were there for 3 hours. We were served our food after 2 1/2 hours. The food was not good. My cod Reuben was tasteless. Others fries were cold and greasy. Another food was cold. After all that time food was not good. The service was lousy; waitress did not make eye contact and did not tell us why we were waiting for so long. She did not ask how our food was. The only compensation was they cut the birthday cake we brought with us for free. Very very bad experience and manager did not care. Felt that is because place is busy. With experiences like this, will not be busy for long. Said 3 hours was typical for 9 people. The bill was 450 for 9 people. Not terrible unless food not good. The food was spectacular. It's very small and quaint. Tucked away and beautifully done inside. We had the charcuterie platter and it was a good size for two people. The salami was amazing! Then had scallop risotto and my husband had the filet cooked to perfection. The plates were very full and filling. We sat at the bar and loved it. My husband and I are both originally from Cheshire so we were thrilled to be invited to the soft opening of The Common Table. The building has a long history in town. It started out as a laundromat. That was actually the last time I was in the building. I have to say I was amazed. It is perfect down to the last detail. I especially love the lighting at the tables. They light up the menu but don't interfere with the stunning ambiance of the restaurant. My husband and I both got the cheeseburgers. They were fantastic and cooked to perfection. My niece got the chicken and my daughter in law got the tacos. Everyone was thrilled with their meal. They have a fantastic menu with beer and wine as well as cocktail suggestions.
