I absolutely love Susan and her little business. She is a rare gem in the dog grooming world- she works on your pup the whole time and doesn't take a very long time. I love that my anxious doodle doesn't have to be around a lot of other dogs with anxious energy or barking all day. Susan also gives my dog treats while grooming which I love! I have asked other groomers to do so, and they usually don't. Depending on how matted my dog is she usually is in the groomer for one hour to 3 hours. Her space is large and clean and she has individual kennels to keep your pup until you are able to pick up your dog. You have to call Susan and make sure your dog is a good fit and then after the first visit you can text for another appointment. Susan is a wonderful human being. I have a 4 y/o german shepherd/chow/malamute mix who is genetically disposed to HATE nail trims (IYKYK). I'm too nervous to do this myself, as her nails grow fairly quickly, and are all completely black so I can't see the quick. Susan is so patient and good with this over the top diva behavior and really has grown amazing trust with my pup. We've never left with even a minor injury. Other places have skipped nails and given up halfway through when my dog squirms too much (worth noting that she's never shown aggression to anyone doing this, she just tries to pull away the whole time, so it's annoying at worst). My vet started to jack up prices for this ($50?!!) and would tell me to put her on trazodone for this 5 min procedure. Not okay. Finding a trustworthy, flexible, dependent source for this regular maintenance was difficult. Susan is our hero! AND SHES SO AFFORDABLE! You can tell she cares deeply for all dogs - that's both undeniable and highly valuable. We recently moved ~25 mins away and continue travel out to give her business. Last Friday, I was desperately searching online for a groomer who could clip my Shih Tzu, Maddie on Saturday, because she's been so *hot* for the past few weeks, and her hair was looking scruffy. In my search, I found The Put Together Pooch right here on Yelp! Sadly, I have driven right past this shop almost daily for five years, and never even noticed it; only due to my dumbness, not a lack of signage. Susan is the owner and groomer, and she is incredibly nice. I brought my Chihuahua, Nacho, with us, and at the last second, I asked Susan if she could trim his nails. Nacho is about eighteen months old, and was a TERROR with nail trims. I'd been taking him to a vet to have it done, but Susan had some extra time, so she scooped up my boy and took him in the back. There was no screaming, and she brought him back to me, happy as a clam. Susan has an amazing energy that I know my dogs respond to. I wanted to have Maddie trimmed as short as possible for the rest of the summer, and Susan did *exactly* what we discussed. I showed her a photo of a Shih Tzu whose ears had been trimmed (the hair, not the ear) all the way down; I'd been considering trying that "new look" on Maddie for a while. I also asked for Maddie's standard, keep her eyelashes long if possible, anal-gland expression and nail trim. And she was even wearing a fancy little pink neckerchief when I picked her up! I can honestly say, this was the best groom that Maddie has ever had! (She just turned five in June). However, the second best part about Susan is that she accepts appointments on Saturdays and Sundays! This makes it SO much easier to get Maddie trimmed every six weeks. I can't say enough good things about her. Her knowledge of breeds both big and small is impressive and she has a great natural chemistry with my dog (who is small and often shy). She also does not OVERBOOK. This means that your dog will not be sitting around, forgotten and neglected in the back of a warehouse like Petco or Petsmart, and she can commit a healthy chunk of time to each dog (no rushed cuts). This is a great little spot in the neighborhood. Susan loves dogs and she is loving and kind to my little miniature schnauzers when they come in. We had a tough time finding a place to get our two goldendoodles cleaned up after moving to Denver. The Put Together Pooch had an opening the next day and did a wonderful job. Both dogs seemed to enjoy themselves. Our old groomer did a wonderful job, but it often took all day. At this place, both dogs were done in 4 hours and were much, much cheaper than anywhere else we looked. This is not to detract from the quality of the service. The groomer's excuse: my dog had curly hair and it's not good looking to have a short top coat...Grooming 101: Under no circumstance are you supposed to buzz the top coat to a double coated dog. Susan is the BEST groomer and most kind lady that my dogs and I have ever met. I took my Maltese, Lou-Lou, to her since 1995. Lou-Lou recently passed, and now I have a border collie mix, Ivy, that I trust Susan with completely. I drive 30 minutes to the shop because I can't think of taking my dog anywhere else. My rescued schnoodle probably has some abuse history and is very jumpy. I have groomed him myself but it obviously isn't as good as a pro. Susan groomed him once and it was great. Trying to make a second appt months later I was told she has an injury and probably is unable to handle a "behavioral" dog. He's jumpy but not aggressive and I've shaved him myself with some patience. My issue is that when I respectfully offered to go else where I was told that "I don't know where else you would go except maybe a vet that could sedate and monitor him." Really? Good thing I won't actually do that to dog. I'll shave him myself and find another groomer this week. read more

This place was amazing! Took the dog in on a Sunday. Susan was extremely helpful the entire time, but also allowed us our free space to get the dog clean. You get your own bathtub for your dog, she has treats to help lure the dog into the tub, and keep them distracted throughout the bathing process. She has several scents for shampoo and conditioner, cleaning brushes, ear cleaner, towels and a very efficient blow dryer! It was so easy, convenient and fun. She then trimmed the toenails in a very gentle manner. We did all of this at a very good price. We are SO excited to take our dog back there again! read more

This is the best groomer we have found in Denver. Our cocker is so scared to get a haircut. What I love about Susan is she only takes one dog at a time so she is much quicker than other groomers we have used who end up putting your dog in a kennel for 2 hours before actually getting around to grooming your dog.
