My wife was groped at this bar and their response really ruined an evening. The bouncer told us that if my wife pointed out who had done it, that person would be asked to leave. After she pointed that person out, the bar manager decided it was a he-said she-said, and nothing could be done besides comp our $12 tab. Later on, while still trying to get this man removed, my wife was asked a series of ridiculous and offensive questions like how exactly her butt was touched, whether it was the only time it had happened that night, et cetera. After all of this, they told us, seemingly very seriously, that they were going to examine the security tape after closing and get back to us the next day on what they saw (who had done it, whether anyone would be banned going forward). I really like the spot and it is perfect if you're looking for a no-frills and not at all pretentious dive bar. They played a lot of 90s rock and had a nice small back outdoor space. The bartender was really laid-back and friendly. Beer was cheap. I was hear on Monday night so I'm sure that it was pretty quiet but it still felt like a nice place to hang out. Perfect hangout bar. It's pretty small inside but there is a huge outdoor area behind next to the building and a deck area outside and upstairs. Inside is dark and quirky knick knacks cover the walls. You can get 40oz. beer and 40 oz. beer koozies here! So awesome. There are a few craft beers available on draft and you get bar snack peanuts. Feel free to just throw the shells on the ground as they sweep them up at the end of the night. There is a set of cornhole tables outside and plenty of seating and standing room. I made my first trip to The Rail with some friends last weekend. Having spent 20 years in Savannah I still consider myself a local, and this is a good spot to escape the touristy night life scene. The location is close to Bay and River Streets as well as City Market and I recommend it to start a night of bar hopping. There is a good mix of people, wide range of ages, some eccentrics, some locals, a few tourists. I hung out upstairs while we were there and the ambiance was quite nice for a dive bar. Drinks are easy to come by, bartenders are efficient, shots are a little overpriced, but the beers are a little cheap. All in all, The Rail is a nice place to chill with regulars on any given night or to ease into a big night before heading somewhere loud and wild. I will probably stop back in next time I am home. read more

I went here often during my 'addicted to carbombs' phase. Great place to hang out. There's a dart board in the back when available, and it's usually not too crowded. When it does get crowded, it's tough since there's not a lot of seating, and the bar doesn't have a lot of floor room. Good place to stop in on a weeknight to grab a beer with a friend. read more

Started and ended at this bar during the Humane Society Pup Crawl. Overall we didn't spend much time here, but the bar tender was totally awesome when hubby told her he was allergic to coconut after ordering a Rail Tai and she gave him a can of Miller on the house. This is a pretty cool bar. Downstairs seating, upstairs (with 2nd bar), outside seating (with 3rd bar when it's busy), darts, heat lamps, karaoke. They have a full bar and serve beer (obviously). There is a $10 minimum but you can keep a tab open. Many places in Savannah have a minimum so I'm used to it. I always carry cash in this town. read more
