We stayed at this location due to points available through our credit card. There are much better places to stay in the area. Don't get me wrong if you are looking for a hotel this might be your place. However, if you are looking for an Inn or Bed and Breakfast, this is not it. Staff was pretty much non existent, continental breakfast was less than what you would expect from Hampton inn or Hilton. We always ask ourselves, would we come back to an establishment we reviewed. In this case, unfortunately no. There are too many "true" Inns and Bed and Breakfasts in the area to make a better choice. read more

Very cute themed hotel! The rooms and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean. There is huge flatscreen TV on the wall of your room. Plenty of parking. Not an overly crowded hotel. which means it is nice and quiet. Out front in their lawn are different lawn games, such as bocce ball and horseshoes. The lobby has free bottles of water as well as a variety of different snacks for free. Really can't stress enough how clean the place is! The only downside is, it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this newer lodging establishment in Cooperstown. We had planned on staying a few days but we could only get accommodations at our "favorite" place but not for all the days we wanted to stay *sigh* But I guess we have to have a sense of adventure, and the universe was sending me signals to come here (via social media)...so we picked a...king size...loft? A loft in Cooperstown?! Okay. I'm down. For a place that is very low-to-no frills, I was in love with the set up here. It's right by the old railroad (even a rail car next door!). Even the hallways kind of give an old rail car feel, circa Some Like It Hot (more modern though!). And them loft? I swear it was nicer than my apartment in Manhattan. The TVs: not cheap, modern! Lots of places to charge your phone. WiFi. I know, these seem like most common amenities but you'd be shocked by the amount of Places that don't have them (or have it work well). Also mini fridges in the rooms - even upstairs in the loft where the bunks were! My only "complaint?" The shower stalls were a bit slippery, and I'd recommend using or offering a slip mat. Otherwise they worked well and was great! The beds were so comfy. OMG. They do offer a complimentary continental breakfast. We didn't partake though bc there are SO MANY good places to eat in town lol. But the option is there. So Bob Ross once said there are no mistakes, only happy accidents. And I'm happy to say that by no accident I was able to stay at the Railroad Inn. Cozy little place, well done layout. Awesome! read more

I stayed here and as a local there are better places to stay with far better service and hospitality. Both my wife and I work in hospitality and this is not a place that excels in this area. If you stay here be very thorough with the extra charges that they will not review upon check in. I was checked in and told sign this for room deposit and not told about early check in fee, even after calling in advance. The document you sign does not have any pricing for the up charge on it but eventually was charged $75. I would recommend one of the many Airbnb or bbn in town over this. We had several issues while we stayed there and we brushed off on each issue. For what we paid you would think AC would be included even in the fall but that was turned off we were told. read more

My group of eight motorcyclists recently stayed at the Railroad Inn while visiting Cooperstown during the height of the 2024 Fall foliage. The Inn is top notch. The rooms are large, clean, and quiet. I cannot say enough about the staff. From booking our large group to welcoming us to checking out, they were friendly, professional, courteous, and accommodating! There's a generous snack bar in the lobby, with free water, nibbles, cookies, coffee and tea. It's close to downtown Cooperstown, but on a quiet street a few blocks removed from the baseball chaos. The rooms are handsome and spacious, with great blackout curtains; I slept until 9AM one morning! First-floor rooms for those of us with mobility issues. 4 days with a family of 5 and not once did they clean the room??? We tried calling the lobby after day 3 to figure out why with no luck. Finally got someone to answer on day 4 and the response was, "you have to ask" despite NO mention of it in the room, hotel booklet, door hanger, etc. read more

Don't believe reviews! It's 9/29 7 am and 40's as per weather channel and no heat. Some kind of crazy centralized heat and they don't want to turn it on. $175 for this? . Also 20 something at desk borderline rude. Only good thing is location. Should have gone with Holiday Inn Express. Going to call my Visa and dispute bill. Like luxury camping. Did this place change hands and idiots take over? Avoid at all costs! PS: Cooperstown has a lot of closed businesses. Hopefully this place will join them. read more

Very nice place and centrally located in Cooperstown. The people working here were very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was really good and the bagels were fresh. Unfortunately we had the room next to the front lobby. Every hour or so we would here the a phone ring many many times - enough to wake us up every hour or so. If you love baseball Cooperstown and the hall of fame are major bucket list items. And if you go with family (and taking your kids is the best part!) this is the place to go! There are some lovely bed and breakfast spots within walking distance of the village but none offer the true comfort of this newer spot. We were lucky enough to have a loft room where our 24 year old son could go with us and have his own space/bathroom/privacy. Check out the awesome loft space!! The lofts are much nicer than photos suggest. Comfortable for older kids or a group of boys coming to play in a tournament. Ideal! Quiet spot within easy walk of the action. Room has fridge for snacks (or beer!) and really comfortable beds and awesome hot showers. We had an unforgettable experience and can not recommend this spot enough. read more

The staff are friendly & hard working providing great customer service. The only reason I'm not giving the Inn a 5 star is due to cleanliness; the carpet is in need of a shampoo and vacuum and the bathroom was not cleaned well; hairs on wall and stains in sink from previous guests, missing lightbulb in floor lamp and a previous guests clothing not removed (missed during a vacuuming?). The decor however is a railroad lovers dream. It's in a peaceful location and has a new bbq area or sit in an Adirondack chair and watch the stream. We will be back. read more

One of a kind find! We had a loft room which our boys LOVED. The spiral staircase inside of the room was very exciting to them. We checked in late after a 10 hour drive and were treated great by the lady that checked us in. The breakfast was just enough for the boys to get a good start to their day. Very small room and shower. Checked in with an uncaring college girl who treated us like we were bothering her. Sunday afternoon, not busy at all. The room heater did not work. After two visits to tell her, she finally gave us a portable heater. There was no housekeeping in our two day stay. Last day, no TV or internet. Again, she could have cared less. Spoke with the owner's son on check out, and he apologized and said he was aware of her actions. So happy to be back! his was my second time staying at The Railroad Inn and it felt like home! As soon as we walked in, we felt that warm & welcoming feeling. I was happy to see all of the aspects that I originally loved about this place remained the same, if not better, and drew me in as it did the last time I was here! The Railroad was decorated for Halloween which was super fun to see as we pulled up. One of my favorite parts was the inviting front porch. It was a perfect place to enjoy the complimentary breakfast and snacks that could be found in the lobby. Check in and check out was quick and easy as the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything was super clean at this charming inn and the beds were beyond comfortable. I couldn't ask for more after a day of walking and enjoying Cooperstown. The Railroad Inn's prime location allowed us to maximize our time and walk to and from Main Street. In the opposite direction is a 3 minute drive to a CVS and grocery store. For me, attention to detail is key; the rooms had specific towels for removing makeup, a TV guide list, and the best part which was a list of restaurants categorized by cuisine type. That was beyond helpful, especially if new to the area. Additionally, the tv had the option to use any streaming service such as Netflix or Hulu and gave clear instructions on how to use it. Overall this hotel was fantastic and I felt at home being there again. Can't wait to come back soon. read more

Went to Cooperstown to enjoy a fall weekend in upstate New York. Found the Railway Inn to be an enchanting boutique hotel that was conveniently located a short walk from the town. The room decor was warm and comforting. We stayed with friends and chose the suite with the unique spiral staircase. This room is perfect for families! There was enough room for 6 to sleep comfortably. The addition of the beanbags and bunkbed made me feel like a kid. Between the cozy pillows and the dark room, I slept quite well. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and the snacks plentiful. One more thing, the coffee was delicious and available all the time. read more

This hotel was literally spotless! Not a particle of dust was to be seen. Really good coffee in the morning. Staff was super pleasant.

My husband and I stayed at the Railroad Inn for 2 nights this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. When we were shown to our room, the first thing I noticed was the overwhelming musty smell. I commented to the receptionist (a teenage girl) who apologized that the carpets were recently cleaned but hadn't dried. She offered me Febreeze. We were told there were no other rooms available. I would've tried to air out the room by opening the balcony door, but we were going to be sightseeing for the day. When we returned in the evening, the room still smelled like wet dog. It was awful! I wrote an email (to who I presumed was the manager since we had corresponded previously about the check-in time) and did not receive a reply. I brought up how upset I was with the room to the receptionists the following 2 mornings and was basically met with indifference. If this were a budget motel that would be one thing, but for a "boutique" hotel this is absolutely unacceptable. Plus, this was completely avoidable! Get some high-power fans and dry out the room before the guests arrive. We have done a lot of traveling and I have never encountered something like this. I am disgusted that there has been no acknowledgement or apology. Once we had arrived and they had our payment, management absolutely did not care. read more

The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The mini fridge was a nice bonus. Staff was courteous and helpful. Complimentary breakfast consisted of bagels, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, tea and fruit. The walls were a bit thin, you could hear people walking above the room or in the hallway, but it wasn't a major issue for us. The hotel was within walking distance to Main St, the hall of fame, as well as restaurants. Which is a plus because there are no local cabs, Uber's or Lyfts in the area. All in all, well worth the price! Would definitely stay here again if my travels bring me back to Cooperstown. read more

The Railroad Inn is adorable and a true gem of a place to stay in Cooperstown ! While located just a couple of minutes from Downtown and the Baseball Hall of Fame, it's also set on quiet and peaceful grounds. Our room was super clean and had everything that we needed. We loved the complementary snacks and light breakfast. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The Railroad Inn is the best lodging there is in the entire area for sure ! We consider it our "Home Away from Home" whenever we travel to Cooperstown. read more

We had an amazing stay here over the Memorial Day weekend. We end up in a loft room which gave 3 adults plenty of space. Our room had two king beds, bunk beds and a nice sitting area. It was great for relaxing by the tv after a day at the museum. The hotel was extremely hospitable. It is a short walk to Main Street and the Hall of Fame. The staff had restaurant recommendations for us and offered to help with whatever we needed. They also had complimentary water and snacks. We will stay here again on our next trip to Cooperstown. Could have rated the Railroad Inn higher and might have, though it was certainly not worth the $500+ (when all the taxes were added) that we paid (for our one night stay, July 16, 2022). However, the owner added another charge of $17.69, without telling us, because we used a credit card! We only learned that we'd been charged this additional amount when we received our monthly statement. Watch out if you book this property. read more

Recently my husband and I stayed at the Railroad Inn in Coopetstown. We were so happy with the accommodations and the service we received when we checked in. The bed was so comfortable and I absolutely loved the pillows. We had a continental breakfast in the morning which you can have cereal, hot oatmeal, yogurt, muffins or bagels. After a long day of walking we had nice hot coffee or tea and snacks, either chips or cookies when we returned. You can always relax on the porch or chairs by the stream. If we wanted to barbecue, they have grills and picnic tables with cushioned chairs and lounges for your relaxation. I can't wait to go back and stay with the rest with my family.. read more

We stayed at The Railroad Inn last night after we came into town to enjoy the Candlelight Christmas event at the Farmers Museum. When we got there it turned out our reservation never made it from Booking.com into their books, but it worked in our favor and we ended up getting one of their lofts. The staff was apologetic and very accommodating. The lofts are gigantic and warm with cool spiral stairs going up to the second floor. Second floor is windowless which we loved bc we could sleep in a little easier. Bathrooms were clean and the slowest are nice. Beekman products all over the place. Standard breakfast in the morning with fine coffee, no complaints. Well be back again! read more

After traveling consistently for the past 3 years and staying at many places, I was compelled to leave my first ever review because you should know. Moms...This was such a great place to stay. Besides being comfortable,charming and super clean, the nicely designed spaces are just special. I would suggest this stay for long or short trips. Convenient to everything Cooperstown has to offer and the history of the building and neighborhood is so cool. They have transformed the building into new and fresh feeling spaces. Stayed here with a group of my girl friends for a girls night in Cooperstown and had an absolutely amazing experience. The owner was incredibly accommodating to our group and upgraded us to a gorgeous loft room. They even went out of their way to make us a reservation at a local restaurant they had recommended! The inn was gorgeous and the decor was beautiful. Very clean and the "makeup remover" wash cloths were the cutest added touch! Would highly recommend staying here.
