Jamo's in Lake George turned out to be a great winter festival stop, with a cozy Irish pub vibe and a guitarist playing up front. We were lucky to grab a nearby high-top, put in a few song requests, and enjoy the live music while we waited for our food. The mashed potato balls were the standout starter, fried perfectly and especially good with the honey sour cream dipping sauce. The cold Reuben was stacked high with flavorful turkey, and the chicken sandwich had a satisfying crunch with a nice zing from the chipotle aioli. We left feeling full and ended up hanging around for a while just to keep listening to the musician, which really made the visit memorable. read more

I can only speak of the ice cream. A small soft vanilla with chocolate sprinkles. You can't go wrong right? Wrong! It was a baby size the ice cream barely covered the cone. The cone was stale and there was maybe 15 sprinkles on the ice cream. It was $7.09. in addition, it was the absolute most disgusting ice cream that I threw it away. No taste. It tasted like air, whip cream but no texture or taste. Do not waste the money. There are numerous other options along the strip. Gross! read more

While I was in Lake George Village, I stopped for a lunch break at Jamo's Pub, formerly Jack Barry's American Pub. This cozy Irish American pub offers a full service bar with seating, table seating & high top tables and covered open air deck seating in the back with a view of the lake. The bar offers 8 draft beers, mixed drinks and cocktails. The food menu offerings include a selection of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, soup, salads, main entrees served after 4pm (fish & chips, bangers & mash, mac & cheese), kids menu and desserts. The prices are moderate. I walked in here on a hot Saturday afternoon and the place wasn't very busy. I could seat myself at any table or at the bar. I sat down at a high top (B&W "Jamo's Pub Lake George" logo) close to the front window next to the bar for natural lighting since much of the place has minimal inside lighting. The bartender gave me a menu and specials flyer. The server arrived shortly after to take my order. I ordered an ice water and the Rachel ($15 plus tax) with fries & pickle, which came out in 10 minutes. The Rachel was cut in half, which had thin roast turkey slices, melted Swiss cheese, cole slaw, thousand island dressing between grilled marble rye bread. The standard golden fries were very hot and lightly salted. I did get a small box for half the sandwich to eat later on. The check was presented, which was $15.48 (cash)/$16.05 (card) with tax and before tip. I was thrilled to see they give a cash discount. The food was pretty good and the service was adequate and friendly. I would stop in again for dinner served after 4pm, so I could order the bangers & mash or the fish & chips. read more

Wow, been here a few times, never disappoints.The food is awesome, hot, excellent taste. The server was spot on as she has been in the past, and all of the staff was extremely friendly. My wife and I stopped here on our way to Montreal for an early Sunday lunch. It is located on the main strip in Lake George convenient to get to and Parking was not a problem. We were greeted by the bartender who was very friendly. Our server Katie was excellent. I had a Smithwicks beer. My wife had one of their margarita specials, which had a lot of tequila in it and I don't think they put in the other ingredients, like Grand Mariner. We shared the Bavarian pretzel, which was excellent especially the mustard that came with it. I had an egg and cheese sandwich with home fries. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich. She said no cheese, put they put cheese on it anyway, but she said the chicken was delicious. The restaurant itself is a typical Irish dive bar, which I love. However, the men's bathroom door had a big piece of tape on it. The handle almost fell off as well as the bathroom faucet was very loose. The ceiling fans were very dusty. It just seemed like the bar has been neglected for many years. the bartender was a very friendly but was very loud, constantly singing, along to songs loudly and badly and yelling at pedestrians as they walked past the bar to come in and have a drink. I used to work in a bar I get it. They work on tips and he was a very friendly guy but at 11 o'clock in the morning, it was a bit much. And he took a very long time to make a margarita, which was missing ingredients. read more

We were in a rush to get lunch and catch a boat tour on the lake. We had kids with us. The place was kid friendly, music was nice. We sat in doors but wished I'd sat outside as it has an ok view of the lake. Staff were friendly, Chicken wings were meaty , sweet, salads were big. Fries were ok (they're fries). Fish sandwich was a large hunk of fish. Drinks were refilled on fountain drinks. Other patrons were friendly. It was a weekday, mid afternoon---I'd say if you need to eat downtown, aren't looking for haute cuisine but filling food--go for it. Got kicked out of this place for the heinous crime of existing in a single-person bathroom with my friends. Not bothering anyone. Not breaking anything. Just being in the same room. You'd think we were planning a heist the way this guy banged on the door like the SWAT team and started screaming at us like we owed him rent. Sir. It's a single bathroom. No one was waiting. No laws were broken. Just vibes -- until he popped a vein over it. We got kicked out like we were trash on the curb because one dude decided to go on a power trip instead of using common sense. If you're into weird authority fantasies and being yelled at for doing something literally harmless, then this bar is your place. If not? Take your money somewhere that doesn't act like bathroom occupancy is a federal offense. read more

I am 51. I walked in with my wife at around 8 pm (Monday night) to get a beer. There were about 4 people in the bar. I sat down at a stool. There was a filled dirty garbage can next to the stool. The bartender didn't even acknowledge us. We walked out. I am a rich guy. I would have spent a ton of money in there. And also leave a fat tip. Too bad for this place. We ate here while on our way to Quebec. It has a typical pub feel. It was pretty early, about 4 or so, so it was not very busy. We were served by Jameson, the owner who was nice and attentive. I had the French onion soup which was fantastic! Much better than the 3 bowls I had in Quebec City! My husband had cream of potato; which he liked. It had an herb or some flavor element that I did not care for. I had the pork belly bites; fatty and delicious as one would expect. My husband had their homemade sausage roll. I thought it lacked seasoning, but I'm not a huge fan of sausage overall. The sweet potato fries were terrific...hot, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside..delish. I had a cocktail which was very delicious. We wanted the apple tart/crumble; an apple dish for dessert but they had run out. Early in the evening to run out of a Fall dessert I'd say. Overall, it was a very good meal in a nice atmosphere. We tried to eat here again on our way home, but there was a sign on the door saying they were closed (It was a Sunday evening) and sorry for the inconvenience.....unfortunately, it was inconvenient for me as I was craving that soup!! We had an "average" meal at another spot in town. I understand this place is pretty new. I think they need to tweak a few things if they want to survive. I would still go back! read more
