One of the absolute highlights of my recent trip was visiting Admiral Maltings. A beer group I'm in had a virtual happy hour with their team a couple years ago, and it went on a wishlist that I finally got to achieve. I got to have a private tour with owner Ron Silberstein, who showed me the facility, explained the process, and introduced me to the team. They specialize in California grown grains, malted on a small scale for CA breweries. During my visit it was a variety of wheat being malted to order. It's a beautiful facility. The Rake specifically is their bar, which is an absolute must-visit for any beer fan in the Bay Area. Essentially, their tap list is from many regional breweries that all use their malt. It really shows off the variety of flavors when you can learn about the ingredients and know they were made right in the building. They also have a selection of to-go beers from breweries too. Bartender Grayson was super friendly and helpful; I had a couple flights during my visit too. They have cozy indoor seating, all with windows overlooking the malting floor, plus a beautiful outdoor deck with high top tables beyond. This is way more than just a beer bar, it's a fun experience.

Food == Beer for this review :). The place has got some great beers on tap. For food we got some from the nearby food trucks. Nice place with plenty of outdoor space and chill.

This is a great alternative to Almanac if you want a more relaxed experience for sipping on some beers. All the beers on draft are high-quality, utilizing malt from Admiral Maltings. Their kitchen is small but has some quality offerings. We really enjoyed their poutine tots which were really tots smothered in a béchamel sauce and garnished with green onions. What it means is that the cheese sauce stays soft and smooth even after being on your table for awhile. The chicken salad sandwich and the bean and rice bowl with pulled pork added were both pleasant surprises. The Artisan Bread crispy sandwich loaf really made the sandwich and the variety of additions to the bean and rice bowl made for a great meal. On a day with great weather you can sit outside but there are also some booths inside that overlook the back of house where the malt is laid out on the chilled floor. The tour is interesting and insightful if you have a chance to take it.

Salad with pork and an amazing Martini. This is becoming my Super happy place!

Still a huge fan of this spot! The staff is wonderful, super friendly and helpful! Love love love that they have easy bike parking inside the outdoor seating area. My bike is secure and I don't have to worry about it. Quick shot over from the seaplane ferry. So this has become my regular stop every week. They have some amazing beers. I'm a big wine drinker and LOVE the rose they have on tap. And tonight I ordered my first martini. And I have to say it was absolutely lovely! A nice gin martini up with a twist is my absolute favorite. And they delivered it to perfection! For food tonight I tried the salad with no apples (trying to cut some carbs) and with the pork added. It was fabulous! I'm obsessed! Still carby with the beets but decided to splurge. Soooo good! Other great keto options are the lemon pepper wings (super yum!!). And the pickled veggies (extra super yum!!!).

We stopped by after the Alameda Antique Fair and love it!! They offer great food options including Vegan Options like the Vegan Sausage. The drink options are really diverse as well. They offer cocktails as well as cider, beer and porters. Service is great too. You can bring kids and dogs as well. The ambience was right up our alley with great music and chill vibes!! I had the Beyond sausage bowl and Gowers cider. Both were delicious. Highly recommend The Rake!

I have to The Rake many times and I cannot believe this is my first review! I feel so welcome every time, and this time for NYE day. Service and suggestions for beer were ample, we got to taste a bunch including a beet beer. Snacks and food are really delicious and it's so cool to go to a taproom and see malt being made and tended too (although not at the time we attended December 31). Ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. Highly recommend!

We enjoy stopping by for a few drinks. I highly recommend their pretzels and their cornbread. They are really good. We have been here a few times now and the customer service has always been great and friendly. It's a good environment with some games to play or you can watch the game on TV. They do have an outdoor patio area and is pet friendly. Lots of parking and other breweries nearby within walking distance. We did do the tour. I believe it's on Sundays. You may need to check their website for the exact dates and time.

    Dry pulled pork

The driest sandwich I've ever had. The bread was stale, the pulled pork was visibly dry, and the chips that came with it were stale. It was just so bad. And for $18. Very expensive.

Show up for the beer and ambiance; stay home for the food. Really great outdoor vibes at this beer bar with colorful outdoor picnic tables, shaded areas and live music. We were really excited to try both the beer and food, but was really disappointed by the food, on both quality and speed. It took so long, (despite there only being 3 tables, it took more than 30min at least) that we wondered if they are just starting up the bbq! I wouldn't return for the food - all the items were not worth the calories - nor the long wait. Plenty of other options in the vicinity. But nice place to enjoy a pint or two with friends outside. Free parking close by.

Brew vibes Wagyu brisket - unfortunately was tough and thick, even tougher than regular brisket and a far cry from true wagyu. Home made bbq sauce was amazing (spicy, tangy, sweet) , compared to the plain au jus. Cole slaw - reminded me of a clean vietnamese salad Mashed potatoes - were generous (who doesn't like mashed potatoes??) Cornbread - MUST GET - super buttery and with the added jalapeño was sooo good. The honey butter that came with it was perfect and it was like the ultimate cornbread Atmosphere was industrial - you can see directly into the brewery and the workers making beer while you're eating , definitely Brewster vibes Overall would probably come back for the corn bread and appetizers

I have been here at least five times and I keep forgetting to write a review. Love this little spot to drop in and grab an ice cold beer, especially in the warmer months... and these pretzels are one of a kind with a honey butter sauce and a beer sauce that are ridiculously delicious. You almost have to get two pretzels one for each of the sauces so you can enjoy both the gluttony is real and yes, they are THAT good. I've legit gone out of my way just to come here and buy six pretzels to share with friends. The seating is grown since the last time I was here inside outside deck, shaded, and Non with a bowl or two spread around for the four-legged friends. Of course, do not bring your four good friends if they are not already trained as there's not a lot of maneuverability when this place is crowded because it's soooo good, it often is. The selection changes and so do some of the staff. This round we didn't have the friendliest server when they brought our food out. Not sure what that was about because we didn't even interact with them previously. However, the person that took our order was incredibly friendly, very helpful and quite knowledgeable about the offerings. His choices were pristine! Great place to visit connect with friends and just hang out in the open air and great weather.

Update because I always forget about this place. The other breweries see heavy activity but this one is great too. My favorite thing about them is the fact that they have their own kitchen and don't need to rely on food trucks - and the food is great too! They smoke a mean tri tip. Their indoor seating is also the nicest of the breweries. Nice booths built into the structure, with views of their hops. Huge wooden table in the center for larger groups. And plenty of space for those bringing their babies and need room for a stroller, like us. I was reminded this weekend of how good this place is and we will definitely be back!

    Karen C.

If you're looking for a beer, this would probably be a nice and casual spot to stop by. They have a nice selection and the staff are very friendly. In addition, there's plenty of bar seating and outdoor seating. However, if you're looking for food/bbq, then you may be disappointed. My party and I arrived at lunch, so we were hungry! We ordered the Brisket Plate, the St. Luis Ribs Plate, and the Twin Links Plate to share. Each plate comes with a side of coleslaw, mashed potato, and bbq sauce. The brisket and the ribs were really dry, so you definitely need the bbq sauce. The coleslaw and mashed potato lacked flavor. I will not be getting the bbq plates again. Perhaps, next time, we'll just opt for the snacks and beer rather than the actual food.

Pretzel! With beer cheese and sweet malt butter. OMG

To start, they didn't have a single British beer on the menu. Guinness is Irish, not British, so that was already a letdown. On top of that, they were out of Scotch--pretty surprising for a pub. The service was friendly, and our server was very sweet and apologetic, but it was clear he had not been properly trained and didn't seem familiar with the menu. It took multiple trips to our table just to clarify that the clam chowder did not contain meatballs; the other soup of the day was meatball soup. Even then, the explanation we got was confusing. We also asked for our soup to come before the entrées, but everything arrived at the same time. As for the food, three of us ordered the fish and chips, and it was disappointing. The fries were cold and soggy, and the fish was soggy on the bottom where it sat on the fries. The fish itself seemed decent and tasted fine, but it was not prepared well. One person had the burger and had no complaints, and another had the shrimp scampi pasta, which looked good and seemed to be enjoyed. Overall, the experience just didn't live up to expectations.

I know better now to just order my food to-go if I crave it again. The customer service is never what you expect it to be. They will literally take your order while they are on their phone, and it doesn't feel like they acknowledge you or hear you. They also don't mention that they are ready to help you and just stare at you waiting for you to start ordering. Maybe I am picky and selective, but I usually don't approach after someone's ordering in case they need to quickly step away or finish the task they were working on -- I'm use to being called "next" or being acknowledged. They also don't give you a number or some sort of marker after they take your order, so it is easy for them to mix up orders which happened. Anyway, the food is always good and so I guess that will have to make up for the experience. The garlic noodles with salt and pepper tofu never miss and always hit. It's never too greasy or underflavored. The spicy korean wings are super good and flavorful too. Not too spicy, definitely a mildness to it, so you can handle it if you don't like something too spicy. Overall, I'd come back to pick up a to-go order, but I won't dine in person again.

Seawolf is mainly a bar, but you can order food as well. For outside seating, you go inside to order (no one will greet you and tell you unless you go inside) and they will bring the food out to you. Here's what we got: - Hazy beer (for him) - Jumbo whole wings (buffalo flavor) [for him] - Breakfast burrito (mine) The menu is quite limited. It wasn't busy that day so we assumed that the food wasn't going to take that long, but it took 30 minutes. My girlfriend had the Southern chicken sandwich, and she mentioned that it lacked the spices she would have expected. They only had about eight beers on draft and not many other beer options. However, the bar seemed to have a decent selection of standard liquors. The bartenders and kitchen staff were extremely friendly, which was a highlight. However, the tables lacked condiments, and we had to ask for silverware, salt, mustard, etc. No one came to our table during the meal, so we had to go to the bar for refills. My wife and I had just visited Abbey Tavern this past weekend, a premier Scottish pub in the City, and we expected a similar atmosphere. However, the moment we showed up, we were met with great disappointment. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.
