Raleigh Times has that vibe you can't find easily, considering it is in an 100-year old building that used to print newspapers. Three unique bars, a rooftop, framed B&W photographs that take you to another era. Honestly, I almost feel wrong bringing my cell phone into the building! The bar staff is super helpful. The beer selection is a little random, it's not filled with the easiest to find brands, so they can assist you find a drink you're happy with. I love their wings, especially with that Peruvian sauce. Craving fried pickles, I found Raleigh Times! Full size fried pickles that looks freshly made? Yes please! The picture and the reality were a bit different. They were super (think thin potato chips) thin. They were so fried and thin they snapped like a chip and had no pickles flavor sadly. You provided us with a wonderful venue and accommodation; however, the primary reason we chose Raleigh News over another location we were considering was your events coordinator, Emma Persson. Emma is an excellent communicator--efficient, flexible, professional, and genuinely charming. Throughout the planning process, we made numerous changes to our requests, and she was consistently accommodating, patient, and helpful. While we understand that a buffet would have been easier for the restaurant, Emma worked with us to create an arrangement that better suited our group. She agreed to have appetizers placed on the tables, allowed our guests to order directly from the menu, and coordinated the preparation of 20 desserts. Our attendance numbers changed several times. We initially discussed an after-event lunch for 20 guests, which grew to 24 and then to 31. On the morning of the event, I texted Emma that we expected only 24 attendees, but that number ultimately rose to 25 by lunchtime. We also requested, on short notice, to arrive 30 minutes before our scheduled reservation. Through all of these adjustments, Emma remained gracious and accommodating. The availability of the screen and audiovisual capabilities was extremely helpful. The room was excellent, the food was very good, and everything ran smoothly. However, the exceptional service we received from Emma is what truly set this experience apart. We stumbled upon Raleigh Times during a bluegrass festival and part of the festival was in the street next to it. We walked by and the food we saw looked stellar O we decided to grab lunch here. We sat inside, but the windows were open so it was as if we were half inside half outside. Service was super attentive even though they started to get extremely busy. Waters were always refilled, that kind of thing. We got a southwest salad and the chicken tenders - tossed in honey jalapeño - my husband and I cut up the tenders to put in the salad and split both. So delicious and filling! Their fries and ranch were also perfect for the meal. They didn't mind that we took our time and enjoyed some drinks while the festival was happening. I love that this building is a restored piece of history that's been transformed into a place for people of all ages to get together whether it's for dinner or for drinks. Since we had already been to a few other places I thought It'd be a good idea to order food. I saw the Devils on Horseback and just had to try them! Anything bacon wrapped is an automatic must for me! The combination of the bacon wrapped dates and to stuff them with goat cheese was a heavenly combination! Topped with the balsamic glaze just added to the flavor of it all! We had a slice of peanut butter chocolate pie for desert thanks to the incredible waiter and it was spectacular. I enjoy the older beer hall aesthetic of the place, and it's got a good location right around Downtown Raleigh! For food I got the Andy's Cheesesteak with Fries, it was a ton of food for $14, and being used to DC high prices, I thought this was very affordable and good portions for money! The fries were crispy, not super seasoned but nothing some ketchup/sauce can't fix. The cheesesteak itself was chocked full of steak, onions, and provolone cheese, and it was really tasty! A bit too much bread for me, and the steak could use some more seasoning, but overall it's a good cheesesteak for the price.
